Killed In Wasteland Invasion
Proofreadededed DX
Human:
Name: Cer'c ('serk)
Formerly: Cerdic ('ser - dik)
Age: 16 turns (b. Spring 2998)
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Enthusiastically straight, but he could just be lost in a closet somewhere
Craft: Sr. Apprentice Woodcrafter
Rank: Weyrling (YAAAAYY!!!)
Physical Appearance: Cerdic stands at a disarming 5'6", bearing lean muscles, a slightly tanned complexion, and has an energetic spring to his steps. He sports unevenly cut black hair that he flies wildly about his face that when wet would fall along the curve of his jaw. The dark locks can probably be tamed into something a little more orderly, but he considers grooming it a waste of time, especially since it will invariably get messed up anyway. As a result, he is often seen running about with his hair sticking out at odd angles, the strands clumped together by natural oils and sweat. On the other hand, he takes excruciating pains (literally) to eliminate any beginnings of a mustache or beard that insists of trying to grow in by plucking out the follicles with a pair of tweezers. It's not that he doesn't want facial hair, but it grows so pathetically, it just makes him look like a messy eater instead.
Cerdic has large round eyes are grey with tinges of blue and yellow radiating around the pupil. As if his already boyish features were not enough ammunition, he's been known to emote through his surprisingly bright eyes in order to convince people to do things for him. When not trying to worm his way into favor (or out of trouble), the orbs will often hint at some sort of mischief of practical joke that is on the cusp of execution.
Personality: In a word: immature; in three: immature and naive. Cerdic wants adventure and is determined to go where adventure can be had. And to him the most obvious place to go hunting for it is at Selenitas Weyr. He may not show it, but he truly does care for the people around him even if he has strange ways of showing it (i.e., relentlessly teasing them). He's often careless but never means any harm. This can sometimes leave him appearing empathetic towards others' plights when in fact he is simply very idealistic. There is nothing in life that can't be solved, one just had to think outside the box. Even his sister's mysterious disappearance doesn't perturb him as he is convinced that she had simply grown bored and wanted to go do something fun. As a part of his friendly nature, he is very open to fraternizing with anybody and generous with sharing with people he like. After all, the more friends, the merrier!
History: Cerdic was born in Blossom Hold, the youngest of three children. His father passed away due to illness soon after his birth, leaving him to be raised in part by his older siblings. Despite this tragedy, Cerdic had a fairly happy childhood filled with pranks, a couple of broken bones, and a run-in with some very very angry hornets. Fortunately for him, he had learned how to swim from an early age; unfortunately, he could only swim so far out into the chilly waters of Blossom Lake before cramps struck (while hornets still buzzed overhead) and had to be saved by a lake dolphin. The entire ordeal earned him a few scars from hornet stings, all of which he wears proudly.
It would not be a mere figure of speech to refer to him as the baby of the family, as his brother and sister are 15 and 8 turns older than him respectively. With no paternal figure in his life, his brother Cerwain filled in as Cerdic's male role model. Cerwain taught his younger brother how to spar with staffs, duel with daggers and short swords, and how to hunt with a bow and arrow. Cerwain was skilled in almost everything he did, but Cerdic proved to be far less patient in learning and only managed a barely passable level of skill before growing bored and moving onto something else. Cerwain sometimes managed to convince the younger boy to try again or to keep at his training, but there was only so much we could do before getting frustrated himself. As a result, the only weapons Cerdic came to master were daggers, and even then it was stretching the idea of "mastering" anything quite a bit. To the younger boy's benefit, he's fast on his feet and whatever he lacked in tactics, he often made up by being able to flee from his brother's reach.
Cerdic's relationship with his sister Dicerra was less engaging, however, as she was searched by Selenitas Weyr at 14 turns and left to become a candidate. Nonetheless, he had developed a great deal of baby-brotherly affection for the young woman during their 6 turns together. Alas, they expressed this mutual affection mostly by hiding amphibians and slimy things in her bedding, to which Dicerra had responded by throwing him in a ditch or two. Three turns after earning her wings, Dicerra made somewhat regular trips back to Blossom Hold via her blue dragon. From her, Cerdic heard stories of the people she's met, things she's done and adventures to be had as a dragonrider. They were all exaggerated of course, but Cerdic took everything in like a sponge and wanted very desperately to become a rider, as well. Even after Dicerra's mysterious disappearance during Cerdic's 11th turn did not deter him.
Although his mother was hesitant, Cerdic managed to convince her to let him go to Selenitas Hold to become a woodcrafter. He insisted that this would make a proper man out of him and she reluctantly relented. An apprentice woodcraft Cerdic did become, but his quality of work was hit-or-miss and he was almost kicked out from Woodcraft Hall for his poor performance. What he was good at, was flirting with girls. He didn't consider himself a player as he never proactively tried to bed any of them--they were just so fun to tease! To him, it was a game, a competition with... well, with nobody he supposed but that didn't matter. It was just fun for him to do, and his apprenticeship lagged because of it.
He was searched soon after turning 15 (finally!) and was brought to Selenitas Weyr. The Siege has long since been over by the time he arrived, and many of the damaged structures had already been repaired. He hard heard about the Siege of course, as well as the casualties and how horrific it was. But, with Dicerra's fantastic stories still swirling around his head, he was certain that all was not as terrible as everyone made it seem. Adventure was in store for him, and he couldn't wait to get started.
Dragon
Name: Harmonyth ('har - mon - eeth)
Color: Green (698961)
Age: Dragonet (b. November 3013)
Personality: Harmonyth is generally calm and reserved, preferring to keep silent unless directly asked a question or her opinion about something. Both outwardly and inwardly, the Green openly shows that she really only likes her Mine. With the few exceptions of the Dragons who she grows fond of over time. Males will have more difficulty with befriending her, because Harmonyth seems to dislike males more than other females of any species, who she happens to put up far better with. With her solemn attitude comes a more spitfire side, she isn't afraid to Hiss and spit to show her agitation... and she is known to do so often. Not a loner per say, Harmonyth just prefers to keep to herself while in the company of others. For those other than Her Mine, it is hard to say whether she actually enjoys company, but in truth she does. She tends not to hold back in a fight.
The closer she gets to Rising, the quarkier she'll get. Often transcending her solitary attitude and adopting a quite open and joyful one. It is in this time that her preferences for companions preform a flip flop. Although she continues to put up with females, she no longer shuns males, and in fact welcomes their attentions happily. This change of course, does not stay, for as soon as the flight is over she completes another one hundred and eighty degrees. Returning to her normal ways, almost a comfort to those who know her.
Appearance: The color of Pea soup, Harmonyth stands as the smallest of her clutch at 18 feet in length. Radiating from behind her nose to the top of her mouth, eight forest green circles encircle her maw, while a lone ring circles her front left leg. Petite wings take up residence on her back, giving her extraordinary maneuverability but cutting her endurance less than that known for an average sized Green. Legs slightly longer than expected for her height, Harmonyth has an easy time traversing the ground compared with most others over her species. Unlike most of her brethren, instead of having the end of her tail spit into two separate portions, the two sections are attached at the very tip. Creating a pointed oval. This can be surgically corrected by a Dragonhealer without any complications. Either way it does not effect her ability to fly.
Pets
Name: Eee
Color: Brown (B46600)
Species: Firelizard
Age: Hatchling (b. October 3013)
Based off of: The Caterpillar
Looks to: Cerdic
Physical Appearance: This brown is chubby – there’s no gentle way of putting it. And in his case, chubby translates to short and fat, as opposed to attractively plump in a baby way. He’s wide for a firelizard but his length is very small so that he appears to be no larger than a particularly bulky blue in most people’s eyes. He has short wings that barely could be described as proportionate to his body and they’re not nearly strong enough to carry him in flight for extended periods of time; as a result, he doesn’t do much flying, preferring to crawl along the floor to get place to place. Or roll. He rolls extremely well, which can be quite hilarious to watch. He’s almost as fast as a salamandyr on the ground when he decides to tumble tail-over-head, body curled into a compact little ball that can only be described as wide. He tends to use his wings to propel him along faster, and one of his favorite things to do is to roll down stairs this way – with little regard to the fact that he’s liable to be stepped on. His tail is quite close to stumpy as well, and thus looks very strange when he’s standing properly (it’s way too short for his body). He doesn’t have much in the way of ridges, but he does have very wide eyes, as if he’s permanently surprised, and coupled with his facial structure, which is more slender than the rest of him, he always seems to be on the verge of screaming (looks-wise, anyway).
The vibrant, bright color of his brown hide makes this firelizard impossible to overlook; he’s just blindingly prominent! The color is not dark or light but somewhere in between, with a significantly lighter shade covering over his lower belly and the inside of his legs – not that anyone sees that area, considering that he spends most of his time balled up! Interestingly, he seems to have darker brown ‘stripes’ down the base of his body (not stretching over his legs or wings) at almost perfect intervals, as though his length is being cut into little half centimeter pieces. These dark markings also ring his eyes and spread down his tail; if someone wanted to cut him up, they would need only to follow the examples. But who would do something so monstrous? His hide, when caught by light, seems to sparkle with an almost metallic tint – or perhaps a sleek sheen would be more accurate; he’s definitely not a firelizard who is boring to look at, even if he is a chubby little guy!
Personality: At first glance, this brown seems to be almost serene – easy going and impossible to bother. Mysterious would be a good description of his personality, for he certainly seems to be lost in the clouds much of the time – dazed and distracted. For the most part, he doesn’t pay very much attention to his surroundings; this lack of attentive behavior shows most prominently in his flight. He literally flies into things on a regular basis when he bothers to fly at all, although he is extraordinarily lazy and very much likes to simply lounge on his mindmate, usually on his back, feet curled in and staring off into space at things only he can see. If one were to judge by his behavior, why, the walls would be the most interesting thing on Pern; he spends a great deal of time staring at them. Whether he actually notices what he’s staring at or not is questionable though. Even his mindmate doesn’t get answers when he’s spoken to half the time. He just… doesn’t pay attention to his surroundings. He especially doesn’t pay attention to strangers though – this is primarily because it will take time for His to train him to recognize their voice… otherwise they’ll be ignored too. Wee, daydreams! Pretty walls! Even prettier air! Everything else is boring by comparison.
If one were to try very hard to get his attention, though… well, let’s just say that trying to force him to pay attention to people does not often have good results. There’s a reason that most creatures learn quickly to leave this brown alone and it has nothing to do with him being unintelligent – he’s far from. Actually he’s quite a clever little guy, if you can hold his attention. No, there’s an entirely different reason that earning his attention is a bad thing. You see, he’s…
… unpleasant. Rude. Direct. Straight forward. Condescending. Snappy. Temperamental. Pick your adjective. He’s a very unfriendly firelizard who has no tolerance for being disturbed. He doesn’t like it much when people talk to him and he really doesn’t like other firelizards, so when they approach him to ‘talk’ he’s liable to give short, very curt responses, the equivalent of one-word with no infliction to his ‘tone’ whatsoever. Even his ‘speaking’ (chirps, chattering and the like) is aloof and dazed, as if he’s not paying much attention… though he gradually gets louder the more he’s disturbed. He’s not above screaming to make other creatures leave him alone. This can give the impression of him being a very mean firelizard which is… pretty accurate. His alone will get decent responses from him from time to time, but for most everyone else, he doesn’t respond for a reason. And asking him to do anything is impossible. This firelizard takes unholy joy in ignoring instructions or misconstruing them on purpose because he doesn’t like being told what to do. So don’t do it. Got it? Good.
Name: Cuprite
Color: Bronze (C27052)
Species: Firelizard
Age: Hatchling (b. April 3014)
Looks to: Cer'c
Physical Appearance: Easily the largest flitter in the clutch, he fails utterly when it comes to being the heaviest. He is by far out massed by his bulky brown brother, as his own form is quite lanky. Tall and distinguished he is, a powerful brute he is not. With a vaguely regal air to him, he walks with his head held high and a high step, wings usually carried at a jaunty angle that only emphasize his tall stature. His wings are longer than they strictly ought to be, though a tad narrower than they really ought to be. This makes him a tad more agile in the air than most bronzes or browns, but does cut into his flying power. If it weren't for his agility, he would quickly be left in the tail end of the pack.
His hide is a glistening, shiny-looking green-bronze in color, almost as if he was slimed by a combination of snot and river moss over something that might once have been a brilliant bronze creation. The patterning is not solid, but textured all over his body, making him a somewhat unattractive thing to behold when it comes to color. He doesn't seem to realize this, however, as he still carries that high step.
Personality: Somewhat self-absorbed, this bronze does have one redeeming quality to him. His person will always be safe, to the best of his ability. When everything is hunky dory, he is a calm, preening, attention-grabbing (hopefully) bronze. But when things get ugly, this bronze becomes a raging monster that is all teeth and talons and screaming shrieks. If it is in his ability, he will protect. And what is "his" is extended to anything that belongs to his, up to and including other pets that might otherwise be considered beneath him.
The only problem is in that his tolerance for stuff happening is really low. In his opinion, things get ugly long before they actually do. So to almost everyone around him, he is a lot like an overprotective attack flitter. It doesn't take much to set him off into his massively snarly rage mode. Though not aggressive at all when calm, he is a completely other flitter when riled up, no aggression withheld. He has a long memory, too. If someone did his person wrong, as much as a week later he can be caught dropping something from on high onto their head with a screamed insult. But only if he just happens to catch sight of them, for he does not actively seek people out to exact retribution.
