For the third and final time, Jarcith twisted her head to observe her pursuers. She was growing tired. Her short wings and stumpy body were not made for long flights. It was time to chose. But which one? Even now, none of them appeared worthy in her eyes. Three flashy bronzes and an old blue. Hardly a good selection. But she had come to far to stop before making a choice.
Salenth was graceful for one so large. Ciceroth too, was a handsome figure of a dragon. Both glided easily above her. Corinth was the most agile of the three, with antics that rivaled some smaller chases she had known. And last was Kindrith. The blue was close now. He had managed to turn and match her speed. He had given up on tricks now, and was flying straight and true. Jarcith liked that better. She didn't approve of showing off. It was a waste of energy.
Energy that she was quickly running out of. It was time to end this. In a flash, she had made her decision. She angled her wings sharply and tucked them close. But instead of simply dropping down, she flipped over on her back. Using her momentum to take her back towards her target. Green claws met blue as Jarcith gave a shriek of defiance. No male would catch her! She had caught him first! Her eyes spun in a violet whirl of ecstasy. Yes! Kindrith was hers!
That would teach those bronzes to think they were worthy of her! She was no flirt to run to with their queen gone! She was Jarcith! She deserved better than some other females leftovers! She crooned possessively. She had her Kindrith. He was better than they. He had tried hard in the face of such intimidating competition and deserved all her attentions. No other males matter now. Only her Kindrith, darling Kindrith. They were the only two in the skies.
Wynmuri moved with surprising speed for her form. With a cry of joy, she leaped at E'yan, tackling him forcefully to the ground. She had chosen him! Obvious to the others, she gave into the the shared passion of her dragon. Crooning with pleasure, she stroked him fondly. Age or appearance meant nothing to her. She obviously had the best man in the room.
