With a soft plop a glow fell out of the basket and rolled across the floor of the dark weyr. A quiet rustling continued with the occasional punctuation of scraping metal as Simper dived, twisted and rubbed himself against the soft fungi. Black claws shredded the outside layer to a powder that he could lick his skin and the dimly glowy dust would stick to him. Because.. because.. he wanted to be pretty, to glow and show the others that he wanted to be chased. To be desired, to be loved, to not be.. alone. He had been thinking about it for the past sevenday or more, finding a new mate, and tonight felt right.
Satisfied with his runglow, Simper slipped over the edge of the basket. He opened his wings to make the sharp dive to the weyr floor – a small glittering trail shimmering softly in his wake. The blue hit the ground running, frilling nervously as he looked at the counter where he felt his dark half curled up – still asleep. Good. She would not like what he was doing. Lilitu was growing darker with each passing day and it would soon be her time to run again. Until then she was known to be particularly vicious; flirtatious but definitely vicious if displeased. He purposely waited to stall his own run until night to avoid her ire.
Out to the stairs the faintly glowing blue went, bounding up the steps one at a time humming in excitement all the while. Would they know to come? This was wondered as he reached the next floor and sped down the hallway. Simper knew full and well that he wasn't a green. Not that it should matter. After all, his was considered a blue and he laid Terror's blue. And who said a green couldn't do the chasing instead?
Up the last set of stairs he went to be on the top floor of rooms. He picked one at random, turning out past a sleeping dragon to claim her ledge. A lovely night it was, the waning moon a silvered crescent in the cloudless sky. Simper perched on the very edge, letting the light breeze pull at his wings and create a ghostly mist trailing away from his body – twinkling under the moonlight before fading into the darkness. Simper gave forth a soft howl tinged with a note of sadness. Goodbye dearest Aliene-love. He was so, so sorry..
His song picked up in tone, brightening to become inviting instead of forlorn. Come – run chase, chase run. Simper glow~ The blue curled on the ledge, nervously turning his orange-tinged eyes toward the stairs to watch for any that would come. He hoped they would – they would know, right? He always knew when others were going to run. So, so.. it would be the same, right?
Back in the weyr, F'lix stirred from where he laid entangled with his weyrmate (F'ur had not been kidding when he said you had to learn to tolerate being close and unable to move). A tightening arm and mumbled words drew a glance from F'lix to F'ur's face. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.. aside from a disorienting tilt in F'lix's mind. Easing himself from the fur(s), the tattooed rider shuffled toward the middle of the weyr dressed in only the thin pair of sleeping pants. So confused. What had woken him up, and why did he feel the need to leave..?
F'lix nudged the fallen glow with the side of his bare foot, glancing over his shoulder at the upraised glow basket. That was peculiar. And now – a noise from the hallway. Curiosity coming in spades, F'lix silently moved out to peer into the darkness. Someone there.. ?

Mandr slept all the time, the fat little twit. At least, that was the assumption. Part of it was she was lazy. Part of it was the oppressive heat. Part of it was ... well ... she liked to sleep. But part of it was also that she preferred to go out at night. Partly because that was when her pet was sleeping, and less liable to fuss at her for whatever it was she was trying to explore and tinker with. Scampering along the ground, Mandyr only bothered to fly when she had to - it was too much work. But then, scampering was a lot of work, too, when one was round as a ball. Fat. Fat she was.
Finding a funky looking leaf that cast a funky looking shadow in the darkness, she stopped to stretch out on the ground and play with that a bit. It was kinda ... funky looking. She turned it over and over, until she discovered that one side was glossy smooth, and would reflect the moonlight faintly, and the other side vaguely furry. Not much to look at, but nice to lick. Picking it up in her mouth, she scampered onward. She would carry it until she found something else that caught her fancy. At which point a trade would be exacted. Which meant things of random origin and fact were being scattered all over the Weyr. A body might leave a spoon on the counter one moment, only to turn back to find a nut there in its place a moment later. But she wasn't passing through the kitchens this night. Nope, she was out and about tonight!
Hearing a little mandyr calling in the night, she paused in her ambling, to look in that direction. Utterly curious, she turned and headed that way, leaf still caught in her mouth. Scampering along like only a fat flitter could manage, she hopped all the way up to where the blue was sitting. Sitting down, she tilted her head at him for a moment, before taking the leaf and offering it to him.
He would probably never realize she was trying to trade the leaf for his glow - however in the world he managed that one. Mandyr thought it was neat, and wanted it!! She wasn't terribly bright, but she knew that blues didn't glow. He must be special some how, to have figured out how to glow!

Futh was a hoarder. The blue always had been, starting at his hatching where he sent his new Rider back to the sands to dig up a shard of his egg (which was then washed and sanitized multiple times). His hoard had grown drastically over the two turns of his life, carefully organized on shelves and in piles around his couch, even extending out onto the weyr's ledge. Everything was spotlessly clean and heavily organized, although it seemed to simply be in jumbled piles. The Blue's latest obsession was colored rocks, particularly the polished ones that washed up on the beach sometimes. A pile of sea-stones and black, jagged rocks sat the farthest out on the ledge, two red stones and the flat faces on the black rocks catching the moonlight.
With a sudden snap, the top half of the pile disappeared. This curious occurrence was followed by a distinct sound: crunch, crunch, crunch.
Several feet away from the pile, a tiny, near-black salamandyr munched down a biteme, relishing in the way the little legs flailed before he chomped them all the way into his mouth. Insects had such a delicious texture, he couldn't understand why his fellow salamandyrs never tried them. So good. Bomb licked at his long tail, grooming off any dust that may have collected while he stalked the recently deceased biteme, paying extra attention to the beige mark on the end of his tail, which matched his half-mask and fishbone pattern. Baleful, always-red eyes were then turned back to the night sky, searching for his next snack. What a lovely night.
True to Bomb's bad luck, a sound from above scared off the closest biteme, no doubt trying to figure out just where the last one had gone. With a shriek of rage, Bomb whipped out the flexible spine on each side of his neck, wiggling them menacingly into the darkness. No frill on this mandyr. But wait - that call was followed by actual, intelligible speech. Perhaps Bomb should listen?
He did, and immediately took off up the rock face in confusion. He was being invited to chase, but he knew there were no green things that should be making awful, squalling babies tonight. He would have tried to kill them already. Well, he might as well investigate- killing might still need to happen.
He was pleasantly surprised, if confused, to find the glowing Blue. Blues made no babies, and this one wasn't even fat, like the enormous bluething his boyfriend lived with. That was certainly going to pop out babies any day now. Runnnchase, maken' zee bakbies? Bomb asked, 'frilling' before his red eyes gained just a hint of violet. Bluething it may be, but if it was planning on babies, Bomb was out. Otherwise... could be interesting, he figured. Luckily he hadn't spotted Mandyr yet.
So far, M'kai had yet to stir.

“Yeah that’s right Mavenath is his name. I think I can arrange a ride if your willing to do the same?” Cr’oph murmured to the pretty drudge he had picked up from the kitchens. Easy this one was. Mik can so nicely scoped out all of them for him. He knew names, sexual preferences the whole nine yards. Convenient. After nearly a turn of forced celibacy the bronzeweyrling was finally free and shards was he looking forward to this. Just as the he was getting ready to pull her close to kiss her however he stiffened.
He shouldn’t be thinking about kissing this female. Not at all. What? It took Cr’oph a full minute and a half to digest this and figure out the cause for his sudden lack of desire. In the meantime his ‘runner’ for the night was prodding him, wondering what the sudden stiffness was about. Shaking his head the red head growled. “God damn it Jiggles. Had to be tonight. Of all the sharding nights you could have picked….” Cockblocked by his own mandyr how fucking lovely.
It was hard to fight the brown especially since his own lust had been slowly building through the months. Staggering forward he pushed his date aside and a soft croon emerged from his throat. Where was he? The lovely blue. Blue?
Why yes blue. He was glowy why not? These where Jiggles thoughts as the dark brown caught sight of the faintly glowing blue bounding up the stairs. Curious the chubby brown had followed, using his large wings to make the climb easier. At first it had been simple curiosity. Why did he glow. Then as Simper made his call it all clicked into place. Ah run! Jiggles was good with this. Oh so good. Flaring his wings he hopped closer. He had lost all those other runs but not this one. This one would be his. So pretty was this softly glowing blue. With a soft croon his eyes switched to an intense violet. His blue! The other chasers where given a quick once over. A chubby green and Bomb. He almost hissed at the sight of Bomb. He did not like the other brown. Not at all. But he would tolerate for the chase.
Stumbling down the hallway the human half of Jiggles softly crooned again. Where oh where was his lovely? He couldn’t complete the chase without him/her. To that end he followed the near invisible trail leading him in one direction. To his wonderful blue.

Nocturne was bored. It had gotten late and there were so few people out and about to watch. He normally would have gone back to His' place but the man was busy doing something called a Night Watch. As far as he could discern it was a form of protecting the weyr. Great as that was for His and the goldthing to do, he had no interest in helping any besides himself and, maybe, His. He could have gone back and gone to sleep but he wasn't actually tired so he ruled that out fairly quick. He just needed something to do to pass the time...
And the universe gave him what he wanted. A blue salamandyr ran in front of Nocturne and up the stairs to the fourth level. Huh, interesting. He could tell when another was running for the sake of mating...and that blue was certainlt interested in mating. He'd even managed to make himself glowy. Interest piqued, Nocturne followed Simper at a discreet distance until he decided to join the chase or not. When he arrived at Simper's destination he'd made up his mind.
Nocturne could see no reason not to chase the blue. He wasn't a green which meant there was significantly less chance that he'd want to hang around him all the time if Nocturne did win. It was still a risk but...Nocturne could live with that risk. Even if the other blue was clingy it wasn't a female so he wouldn't feel even slightly bad forcefully explaining that he didn't want a leech all the time. The blue stepped out of where he'd quickly and cleverly hidden himself and revealed that he was there and ready to chase. It wouldn't do to keep them waiting when they'd been so good to come. He projected that thought as his eyes were slowly taken over by violet, with no concern over what the blue thought of his rudeness.

Subtly tinted pinpricks of yellow-orange watched the source of the odd nighttime rustlings from a shaded and shadowy chink in the wall against which the bed was pushed. The small, near-translucent tailtip that had slipped out while he slept his usual fitful sleep slithered back inside. What was the Simper doing? Terror knew he did not seem his Simpery self of late, but he was more concerned with avoiding a Lilitu who wanted to eat him and keeping His aware of the Savior-eating fliers. This wasn't normal though, was it? Rolling around in the glowy plant. There was something else of interest, too, a growing expectancy that had slowly settled around Simper like a cloud...not unlike the other times Lilitu grew close to her Run, but subtly different. His small snout fell to crossed limbs, edging out to keep the moving blue clutchbrother in sight.
He glanced at the moving Simper's, the soft mutterances of a disturbed His before the man settled again, dragging a pillow in as a rather pale replacement for the man who'd just vacated his furs. Something stirring in the night. Rustlings outside. Terror was a creature who preferred to ignore curiosity in its entirety, but Simper...the howl made the suspicions in Terror roil. He slipped down out of his chink, digging his small claws into the uneven surface of the rock and skittering along the wall, entering the corridor high where feet and eyes wouldn't find him. Words followed, confusing but not so bad a meaning as he might have suspected. The glowy fungus was for glowing? Why did the Simper wish to glow?
He wasn't sure, but it was pretty clear that Simper's 'glowing' was calling forth quite a crowd. A green flit, a couple of brown mandyrs and another blue. It wasn't the same draw as a green had; Terror could feel it too, though. The urge to Chase the pretty Simper. Flecks and coils of violet mingled with the soft yellow/orange whirls. Simper was a mandyr he adored...but Terror knew this wasn't quite right. Not the fake glow, no, the Simper was lonely. Any could hear that. Worry was stronger than lust, even if both were present. He remained in his shadows above the gathering crowd.
SaviorMine, strange Run, he ventured. But F'ur merely grunted softly, crushing the pillow closer to him.

Simper hunkered closer and closer to the ledge as the waiting continued. The orange in his eyes prominent enough to be near glowing alongside his make-shift runglow. Frilling at random, Simper shivered as a gust blew over his small frame. Silly simpering fool – what did he think would happen? Just as the blue salamandyr was about to give up a rather round fire lizard arrived. Simper didn't move, if possible he flattened even further against the stone. He could only hope it wasn't a green coming to scold him for taking the spotlight.
As mandyr extended the leaf, Simper cautiously raised up and stretched out from his position to sniff at her offering. She brought him a gift? Yes, yes. That would make sense. He had always brought gifts along when he chased greens. Of course, his gifts were.. better – shinier. But the leaf was nice too!
The appearance of Bomb made Simper duck back down again, still uncertain if others would be.. receptive ..of his decision to run. The red in Bomb's eyes didn't bode well. Simper frilled back at the brown spiny display. Blues no make babies. Unless there was something Simper didn't understand when it came to runs. Only golds made babies – and the humans (if the little bitty ones in the creche were to explained – but it clearly didn't work when there was no green/gold involved).
Simper was spared from thinking of the dynamics between the colors of salamandyrs and humans that could fall into the definition of making babies. It was Jiggle's arrival that shifted Simper's attention. What a nice looking roly-poly brown. Simper playfully mimicked Jiggle's hop. Oh – and now a blue that Simper had never seen before. With confidence growing – they were here to chase not be angry at him – Simper raised up more properly on his legs.
The mental nudge from Nocture had Simper twirling on the spot. Oh yes, oh yes – he had to run now didn't he. Without another moment's hesitation, Simper ran and leaped off the side of the ledge. His wings flared, catching the light breeze to aid him in gliding down to the next level of ledges. He landed smoothly with claws scraping across stone as he turned and peeled back inside to the hallway. He dove between and past the feet of the late night wanderer.
The infirmary was ahead – oh oh, he should show Vanityqueen that he was running. She would be happy for him, right? It had been her, after all, that had said he should run for a new mate. Crooning to himself, Simper made way into the hospice environment and paused at a passing girl's feet (obviously his past injury to his tail from being stepped on didn't detour his actions) to look around for the green salamandyr he had met at the gather. Simper glow? Noise of his pursuing chasers made Simper jump and he darted off again, this time headed for the bridge. Bad simper, couldn't get distracted in the middle of his run..
F'lix was just turning away from stairs (he hadn't seen anything out there) when a pain flared in his chest; strong enough to make him falter and bring a hand up to press against his ribs as if to ease the phantom ache. Such despair. No one was coming. No one wanted – what? F'lix eyes narrowed at the unfamiliar tinge to his thoughts. The pain faded, but in it's wake the bluerider's pulse had picked up in pace. "F'ur?" The call was soft, just above a whisper and illustrating a touch of his growing distress.
And that pull at his mind. It gave him enough of a haze on his thoughts to make the whole situation feel so surreal. Saboth wasn't chasing – it was night and the blue was content to stay with Onyth up on her ledge. Lilitu was still asleep. He could see her dark balled up form on the strip of cloth left out on the counter for her. That left. "Simper." F'lix mentally reached out for the blue – but instantly recoiled when the pull nearly took him. That was not chasing. The damn blue wanted to be chased.
Ridiculous. F'lix growled to himself (refusing to admit his deep concern about the blue's well being) and stalked out into the hallway. Best retrieve his confused salamandyr before Simper got his heart broken when no one came for the run. And even if Simper did get a chaser.. F'lix was not keen to the idea. Memories of the gather and waking up with a bronzer reeking of wine at his back was enough to make F'lix shudder.

It wasn't noticeable at first, just faint scratching sounds whispering into the darkness of her mind. Probably just a certain Blue shifting on his ledge; claws against rocks tended to make noise, after all. After a few minutes though, she realized that the sound was not stopping--in fact, it was growing increasingly frantic and demanding. And loud. With a grunt of annoyance, Evrgarde forced an eye open and pushed herself up from the bed. The first thing she noticed--as much as she would never admit it--was the absence of a familiar weight at the foot of her bed. Blinking blearily around the dim room, her eyes eventually honed in on the missing mutt, now pawing madly at the door. Scampering around on Ryder's head, was Tea Leaf. The green made figure-8's across the top of the canine's skull, crossing around underneath both his floppy ears and repeating. As if sensing his master waking, Ryder stopped and turned around to look at her, then let out a loud bark before returning to pawing the door. Tendrils of wood were beginning to pile up on the floor... What was going /on/Runchase, Tea Leaf offered, pausing in her laps just long enough to look excitedly at her human-pet. What? Was this mandyr already ready to run? Evrgarde studied the green, noting that Tea Leaf was in fact not glowing. A twang of panic shot through her as her muddled thoughts swung over to her other pet, the lanky green flitter. Lange was well overdue for her own flight, and Evrgarde had hoped to keep it that way. "Are you her cheerleading team then?" Evrgarde asked, roughly tossing her furs to the side. SimperRun. Lange went look-see."Simper?" Clearly, Evrgarde knew next to nothing about other people's pets and would also like to keep it that way. Either way, she had no idea why a green mandyr would be interested in seeing another green mandyr run but she didn't really care either. There were drills in a few hours and she would sooner be rid of her annoying pets and get some shut eye. She swung her legs over the side of the bed, then rose and strode over to the door. Ryder stepped away and took to circling her feet excitedly as she moved to unlatch the door, then quickly bolted out. Barking. Whatever. She closed the door again and locked it, then returned to her bed. Lange was still nowhere to be seen but as long as it wasn't Lange's flight, she really couldn't care less. Finally free of the confines of his master's weyr, Ryder took to bolting full speed along the ledges. He couldn't hear Simper's call of course, but when Lange took off through the window to investigate, he wanted to go, too! This was where Tea Leaf came in. The little green mandyr could hear the calls, and between canine and little lizard, they worked out some means of communication allowing Tea Leaf to direct Ryder towards the blue lizard. Despite their delay in escaping the room, Lange's haphazard flying allowed the canine and salamandyr pair to make up for lost time and catch up to the green fire lizard just as she continued her zig zagging and crash-proned flight towards the infirmary. Ryder barked up at her, prompting the green flitter to dive bomb down against his back in a tangled mess of wings, knobby horns, and ribbons, and hitch a ride. Tea Leaf closed her little paws over the tufts of canine fur, clinging on as she straightened herself and pointed her snout towards the infirmary. Go go! To sickroom! Not that she needed to navigate anymore, for Ryder caught a glimpse of a glowy ball skittering across the ground. BALL! HE LOVES CHASING BALLS! Barking happily, the canine dashed after Simper with his two green passengers in tow. [[[ OOC: I shouldn't even be posting because of lack of time, so no need to wait up for me in subsequent posts. Ryder just wanted to join in on the chase since Evr refuses to play catch with him. ]]]

Dusk's head popped up. It was a chase! He could catch a pretty female who would love him! He spread his wings, before freezing, confused. That was no green. That was no queen. That was a...blue? He huffed indignantly, folding his wings. Stupid blue, getting his hopes up. Why was a blue running? He glanced at Lazuli and Mika, waiting for their reactions. Lazuli considered chasing the blue, but what was the point? He was no female. He couldn't give a good cuddle.
Mika chirped excitedly. A blue was running! She would chase, of course. Like Lazuli, she loved a good cuddle. The large green shot into the air, spreading her wings gracefully. She picked up speed, reaching the blue salamandyr in a matter of moments. He was pretty! She crooned happily to him. He wanted to cuddle with her, yes? Her emerald hide glowed softly, almost as if she was the one who was to get chased.
Of course, she wasn't glowing for that reason at all. She had a natural glow, part of her natural beauty. She called to the mandyr again. He had a pretty glow. The pretty glowing blue wanted to be caught, yes? Would he let her catch him? She beat her wings at a strong, steady pace. She loved the thrill of the chase, and she loved the chance to have a pretty little mate. Did he think she was pretty too? He had permission to say she was pretty. Most other people didn't. Sari sighed. Her fire lizards were quite silly, all of them eager for attention from the opposite sex.

Jiggles bounced in place as he waited for Simper to move. The addition of a few chasers after him was noted, but not dwelt on. He was clearly superior. The glowing one would see that. As the glowing blue flung himself off the ledge the dark brown gave a croon and flung himself off the ledge after him. His large wings easy held his hefty frame. In fact the brown was one of the few mandyrs that was capable of limited flight. Angling himself he landed with a bounce on the ledge after the blue. Getting his feet under himself Jiggles bounded after Simper. Come catch pretty love. Mine always be. He called as he darted right over the feet the blue had so expertly avoided. Darting down the hallway the brown put enough effort into his running to keep the blue in sight. No need to exhaust himself so thoroughly right off the get go. When Simper suddenly stopped Jiggles kept running. Must make up lost ground. Yes, yes.
Vanity was sitting on a bedside table frilling defiantly at the apprentice who was, oh so politely, telling her she needed to move. Simper’s call caused her to spin around and chirp, the girl forgotten. Looking down she caught sight of the glowing blue. See she knew he could get glowy. The green crooned. Simper run yes? Far fast? Greenqueen approve. Good boy Simperslave. She cooed as she watched him dart off chasers in hot pursuit. Smart blue slave was that one. Giving a hiss back at the apprentice she leapt from the table to scramble up onto the girl’s head. From her perch she watched as Simper took his run from her Lust’s infirmary. Good blue that one was. Yes she was most pleased with him.
Jiggles had just about caught up when Simper decided to move again. Giving a croon the masked brown put real effort into his run towards the bridge. Must catch. Upon reaching the bridge he leapt, spreading wings wide as he grasped onto the top rope and pulled his body up on it. With a happy chirp the chubby brown began to run down the rope after the glowy blue, wings outstretched to help his balance. Coming is. Mine be. Jiggles catch. He promised the current object of his affections. If only he could get a bit closer he could attempt a pounce. This one would be his. This time he was very determined. Lets see that fat bronze make fun of him now.
Cr’oph had been following the invisible pull down the dark hallways. Always pointed in the right direction thanks to some internal instinct. He passed a few people who, upon noting his near blank gaze, quickly pressed themselves towards the wall to avoid him. “Simper where is?” The red head called softly as he made his way down the hallways. Closer, closer, the pull was growing steadily stronger until… He paused as a figure emerged into the hallway about a dozen feet away. There was a moments pause before he realized it was the blue he was searching for. With a soft nearly breathless croon the bronzeweyrling began a slow stalk for F'lix, his own reactions in perfect synch with his mandyr’s. Just a bit closer and he could pounce…His pretty glowing blue.

They were unlikely to notice the quickly streaking near-translucent ribbon wending silently down the wall and over the lip of the ledge, even though he had his own natural glow. After all, the Simper had already sprung, gliding, and who was going to wait to see if Terrors followed after a moment's indecision? He was no good at gliding. Little bitty wings. And that was a terrible, terrifying drop, and what if his wings didn't hold him and Faranth Faranth Faranth so far! He'd squish and his insides would roll out like gelatin - nauseous! Instead he dug his tiny claws in, whipping from clawhold to clawhold to tailhold, a twisting, coiling ribbon along the cliff face. He breathed slightly easier with the next ledge not that far below, slipping along the underbelly of the ceiling and pausing their to still his frantic hearts. He frilled nervously for a moment, noting the still moving Simper.
It was too strange, and his clutchbrother too lovely, to ignore. He still felt uneasy, he did. The purple-hued male wended along the ceiling, well above anything that might harm him, following Simper down the hall and into the infirmary. He edged closer to be right above the blue, briefly touching his mind in single anxious questioning. This was scarier than most scary places, with all the nasty smells, oh the blood, the ichor, he was getting faint faint faint but no! He dug his claws in. None to be seen just faint traces of the smell. He could do this, he could, falling in a faint now would get him ouched and squished beneath those unobservant anti-savior feetses.
Oh, they were going again and...the loud braying of a furry much bigger than the demoness Lilitu's kept nearly startled Terror into dropping right then and there, his body curling up instantly into a tiny spiral as he stared back. Fear left him petrified. Terrible furry! With teeth longer than a Terror, and ohhhhhh no no no not the Simper! Why did he want to eat the Simper? Simpers were not for eating! Terror remained frozen to the spot for a tense moment, not sure what to do. He wanted to bolt, to find a nice crack and wedge himself in where the large hellhound couldn't leap and reach him, but...Simper was Terror's and Simper's was Savior's and...he fluttered his little wings. Why him? Oh this was going to be baaad he just knew it and Simper had better be thankful oh Faranth!
Terror released the ceiling and plummeted.
The leaps were startling, a display none but Simper and Lilitu had likely seen - when Lilitu was in a particularly foul temper or the furry demoness was trying to make a snack of him - the ribbonlike mandyr making a high-pitched squealing cry as his body whipped in curling spirals from the furniture, little flicks of wings to direct his twisting, flipping falls and leaps, his tail working as well as any chimp's to propel him. In a flurry of distracting movements across (and slightly above) the evil furry's path. Until he ran out of furniture, arcing out into empty space. His tiny wings flapped in a brave, brave effort to keep him airborne, tail whipping, but it only succeeded in a diagonal flipping twist that sent him rolling across the floor. Oh noes!
Why had he decided to do this again? Simper! Needed to go the...the...other way. The salamandyr turned abruptly, lids clamping over eyes tightly. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Such a terrified mental shriek could almost sound like a warcry as he raced toward certain furry teethy doooom. And past it. A brush of fur along his flank, and his eyes flashed open, the little creature darting down beneath his underbelly to streak between his hind legs. Harder to reach him like that, right? SaviorMiiiiiiiiine!!! Please save him before he got etted!
The tone of voice in the quiet call had caused one eyelid to drift up lazily, a strange anxiousness tightening over his chest and causing F'ur to frown. Why was he having trouble waking up...his mind was strangely hazy. Hm. Rubbing at his eyes, they suddenly flared open behind his fists as with sudden certainty he just knew something was going to eat F'lix - a dragon? - if he didn't stop it. The thought of being clamped in the jaws of one of those beasts again was nearly paralyzing but he didn't hesitate for more than a second, springing up on top of the bed and leaping over the footboard. He staggered through a pile of odds and ends - not to be confused with thingamajigs - half-crashing into the doorframe as the haze still confused his senses.
An arm shot out, groping for and catching a wrist and yanking - oh shards no this wasn't F'lix! What was he doing right outside the door? F'ur snarled, thrusting the tall thing away. Twisting, he caught sight of the familiar shape, the older man planting his arms on either side of F'lix's shoulders, protecting him from...his shoulders rolled. But no, the teeth didn't tear into them, and he ventured a glance over his shoulder. Nothing...but the thing. No dragon could fit in this hall. He shook his head, forcing his pulserate down when the call burst into his mind loud enough to make him jerk. "Terror?" he grunted. Concern stole openly across his face, eyes flicking briefly toward F'lix in a silent question he didn't wait to get answered.
Nothing could happen to Terror.

Mandyr chirped happily when the leaf was accepted. She looked at the glowing little blue expectantly, waiting for her return item. That glow! She so wanted that glow. It was so neat, so interesting, so intriguing ... she wanted it! Must haves it! She waited patiently, expectantly, more or less ignoring the other creatures gathering around her and the little glowy blue. Itching for her reward, she started grasping her front feet a bit, wanting to grab that glowy bit. She liked it, the glowy!
However, she didn't get given her reward .. instead the blue twirled about like a loon, and took off running - followed shortly by all the rest of the gathering. Mandyr just stared after the glowy blue for a moment, betrayed and confused. Blinking, she dropped to all fours, tail lashing from side to side. Finally, she uttered a sharp bark of a protest, leaping into the air and beating her wings at the air. Her flight path was not at all graceful or striaght, but she did make chase. That was her glowy!!! She wanted it!!! Why was he running away with her glowy? He took the leaf, the glowy was hers!!
Flying into the infirmary was no big deal for her ... she'd spent lots of time in there back when her pet had spent a lot of time in there. So she actually managed a fairly deft maneuvering in there, following as Simper ran through and out again. Mandyr hollered at him for him to wait, come back, chasing him off toward the bridge.
Her wings were starting to burn ... she'd not flown so far in a very long time!! Huffing, she dropped to the ground and started a rolling trot, all four legs trying to propel her after the little blue that was zooming along. She was going to catch him if it took the last ounce of strength she had!! He'd made off with her glowy! It was a fair trade, and a deal was a deal!!

Well that was distasteful. Nocturne bared his little teeth slightly as the blue he'd chosen to chase jumped off the ledge. Why was it every 'mandyr he chose to chase liked to glide? He scurried over to the edge and watched just long enough to see where Simper intended on landing before turning back to the hallway. It was as much personal choice as it was inability that kept him out of the air. He liked his feet firmly planted on the ground most of the time, thank you very much. Let the idiots flounder about in the air.
The blue made his way quickly towards the stairs and down them as fast as he dared. When he got down to the right level he would have been at a loss of where to go if not for a big four-legged thing barking and giving away the position of Simper. He followed after the canine and expended the energy to catch up to it. The screaming blue made him mentally snort but he left it be. Stupids should curl up next to their loving masters and keep out of his sight. He finally caught sight of Simper again and took note of the direction. The brudge? Interesting.
Eikane stumbled out of the cot in his room in a daze. He had considerably more self-control when it was Nocturne chasing something but he was still drawn towards the mindmate of whatever the blue salamandyr had chosen to chase. Groaning, the gold handler shielded the glowbasket (the advantage to having a gold fawning over her eggs was that he could lighten his room) and set aside the Night Watch related papers. Without his wher to help him in his duties he was relegated to paperwork.
He fought the hold Nocturne had on him. After Dementia's run he'd chosen to fight it the next time ratehr than just give in. Instead of heading towards the exit he headed to where Eikask was guarding her eggs and all but collapsed next to the startled wher. She curled possesively around him and growled. Hers didn't want to go and she didn't want him to either. She had no problem helping him stay with her while the annoying little blue chased other little things.

Simper, on his way toward the other end of the infirmary, playfully twisted around on the spot, stalling for those few brief seconds to look back at his chasers. Or, rather, to look up into the gaping maw of an advancing canine. Simper's frill flattened against his neck as yellow swirled into his eyes, body once again hunkering against the stone. He wanted chasers, yes, but that was a bit too large, and as much as Simper enjoyed being bitten by his fellow salamandyrs and the occasional fire lizard.. ..the canine's teeth were awfully big. Where had his other chasers gone – eaten by the furry one? Oh dear..
Too big, too small. Why eaaaat?[/color] The blue salamandyr keened in distress as he dove under the nearest cabinet, bits of his glow rubbing off as he wedged himself into the narrow space between wood and stone. The purple somewhat glowy salamandyr rolling across the floor was painfully familiar. The shriek even more so. Terror! Simper wormed out his hiding spot and started bolting for his pale clutchbrother. No, no, no! What was his fearful brother doing charging at the mutt like that! He should know better than anyone else that the dog had eaten the others!
Simper's attempt to aid Terror – or rather save him – was intercepted by Jiggles. With an startled chirp Simper twisted around, clawing at the stone for purchase to bolt in the opposite direction when the brown looked about ready to pounce him. Reluctantly Simper fled from the persistent brown, making it to the bridge and hopping the wooden planks two at a time while trying to keep an eye on the green harpies (Mika and Mandyr) that were swooping at him. One was glowing and probably angry at him for running on her night – the fat one was screaming at him for one thing or another and resorted to chasing after his tail on all fours instead of flying. In his distress he couldn't understand either of the two green flits.
He was so sorry – he just wanted to be with someone, was that so wrong? It had been stupid of him to run. Now Terror's was in danger – oh Faranth, if Savior's Terror got hurt Lixhers was going to be so angry with him. And what about those other poor chasers that the dog had swallowed up? He never wanted all of this to happen. Save Terror! He yelled at those that remained chasing him. Simper didn't see them so much as run-chasers anymore, more like angry residents that were attempting to chase him off before he could do anymore harm. He wasn't going to bother anyone again, couldn't they go save Terrorhis instead!
F'lix was rubbing at the crook of his elbow, eyes shifting in and out of focus as his mind teetered between Simper's mounting despair and his own distress. It was becoming difficult to keep his mind from being taken to the blue's strange run. He didn't want to give in – even if in part of his mind he acknowledged that it would be good for Simper to find a new mate. But he was less inclined to comply now when it felt like Simper was running to.. run away, go away. Reaching out to his other mindmates, F'lix sought out a mental anchor. Lilitu stirred, uncurling from the counter and after a brief paused she gave forth a reptilian hiss, eyes bleeding into red to truly give her dark coloring a demonic appearance. Saboth picked his head up from where he laid up on Onyth's ledge, colors of concern rapidly whirling in his eyes. ..Mine?
Then F'ur was there – Terror was safe right there in front of him. F'lix didn't realize he was shaking until he was pressed back against the stone and raising his trembling hands toward his weyrmate – his clutchbrother. But then F'urTerror was leaving, briskly heading off toward the infirmary and with him went a portion of the sanity F'lix was attempting to maintain. His fingers slipped across F'ur's waist as the man left and a small whine sounded in F'lix's throat. Nooo, Terrorbrother, why are you going toward the chaser-eater?
Half turned but too unstable to follow, F'lix began sinking down against the stone wall – oblivious to Cr'oph's presence. He could feel Lililove had awakened and she was furious and coming for him. The big flyer too, had woken up and was looking for him. "Sorry, so sorry." The bluerider whispered to himself with glistening eyes. Silently the tears began to slip down over his cheeks.

Jiggles bounced and scrambled across the rope bridge his whirling violet eyes fixed on Simper. The attempt to rescue Terror wasn’t interesting to him and his attempt at making a pounce had been foiled when the glowing blue again scampered off. The dark brown was to into the run by this point to recognize Simper’s growing distress. The green flits however where noticed and a small bit of scarlet bled into his gaze. Leave lone! Ugly flyers! DO NOT WANT! He shrieked releasing the rope to leap into the air. With a few quick flaps he buzzed right over Mika and then angled his wings in a glide. His target was clear Simper. Jiggles was going to end the run right now. His blue, thank you muchly, and he was going to take advantage of the momentary confusion by executing a catch.
Dropping swiftly the brown pulled up at the last moment and made a grab for Simper. Unfortunately he was coming in too fast and all the chubby brown managed was his claws barely grasping at the blues back. Drat! Jiggles flipped over Simper and with a squeal crashed in a mess of flailing limbs and wings onto the wooden bridge. Giving an angry chirp he worked on righting himself. Which proved to be a tad difficult due to his erm size. Rolling left and right the brown finally managed to get upright and with a shake of his head to clear it looked about to take stock of his surroundings.
Cr’oph gave a hiss as his wrist was grabbed. Not Simpers. Did not want this blue. Wrong blue. However before the weyrling could disengage himself Terror/F’ur had shoved him away. Stumbling a few steps back the tall red head glared at the other blue now seeking to claim Simper. Not right. Terror had not yet caught Simper. Away. Go away. Crouching he hissed softly, the sound not at all nice. Fortunately F’ur at that moment began to move away and the bronze rider’s temper was soothed. See /not/ a catch. Eyes flicking back to the object of his desire Cr’oph crooned and quickly strode forward. Jiggles attempt at a catch in turn spurred the young man forward to attempt a ‘catch’ of his own. For better or for worse. While Jiggles catch did not go as planned, Cr’oph’s was far more successful. Due to the fact that his target was pressed against a wall. Reaching forward the bronzeweyrling grabbed the blue rider roughly and pulled him forward against him. His arms encircled the older rider’s back. His nails dragging downwards in a movement that mirrored Jiggles own attempt at gripping Simper. “Is mine?” The bronzerider queried softly, lips whispering against F’lix’s ear. A catch was a catch right?
