It was at the height of midday. The girl sat in her weyr, legs pulled to her chest, long arms wrapped around them, watching the sleeping green on her ledge. Gweneveth had been acting strangely lately, and only to males. She had been flirty and pushy, a real tease. This odd behavior coincided with her hide gradually glowing until the glow itself was nearly blinding.
Now, Vellani wasn't an idiot. She knew that Gwen was getting closer and closer to rising. She had hoped that R'men and Weith would be near for her dragon's first flight. She liked the man quite a bit, and if she was going to lose her virginity, she'd rather it be to someone she knew and liked...not some stranger. Unfortunately for all involved, Weith had been busy with Nitrath's eggs, hot on the sands. They would be hatching any day now, and she could hardly expect the clutchfather to leave the eggs at this crucial time.
Still. She was scared.
Sex wasn't something she ever thought of. Sure, she liked boys...she liked them a lot, and she always seemed to be interested in one or another...but sex was so far out of the realm of her thinking that it wasn't even funny.
And the fact that this flight would lead to sex?
Something she couldn't quite wrap her mind around.
Every single time Gwen twitched in her sleep, Vellani flinched, ready to dart out the door towards the flightrooms. She knew her duty, no matter how nervous she was, nerves tangled raw. She almost felt sick. Wouldn't that be grand, vomiting on the winner of the flight. Pushing her head between her legs, she breathed carefully, exhaling slowly and inhaling deeply.
Suddenly, her head darted up.
Gwen was rousing into wakefulness. The maiden dragon's head lifted, a long, elegant arc that seemed perfect for her. Eyes were swirling with deep violet, and her tail uncurled from her flank, flicking lightly at her side.
"Gwen?" Vellani choked out in a strangled voice.
The dragon didn't seem to hear her at first, but slowly twisted her head around, whirring violet eyes on the girl's form. It's time, my love. Gweneveth crooned lightly into her rider's mind, and Vellani felt her stomach jump and clench.
A certain numbness took hold of her as she rose from her spot in her chair. Axle whined from where he was laying at its side, but he didn't try to follow her as she padded, barefoot, out of the weyr, closing the door behind her. She was wearing a long, sheer blouse, that fell loosely to about mid thigh. Beneath, she was wearing some legging shorts.
She'd been ready for this.
Satisfied that her girl was as ready as she was going to be, the green rose on her ledge, stretching languidly for a moment. She made sure to stretch out every limb thoroughly, then spread out her wings to their full extent. Padding to the edge of her ledge, she took in the sight before her before finally stepping off, wings folded to her sides, she dropped like a stone towards the weyrbowl before snapping her wings open and spiraling up, up, up.
Flicking her tail, she projected a purr into the minds of any interested males. Won't you all come play with me? Her voice was bright and cheery as she circled the inside of the weyr, almost clipping the ledges of other dragons as she circled, enjoying the flight for a moment before she found a tunnel and burst out into the open air.
Rising, Gwen turned to see if anyone would follow her out, but she didn't stop. She rose higher and higher until she had cleared the canopy before she skimmed the trees, trilling at the pleasant day surrounding her. She flew elegantly, like what she was, the perfect maiden.
Vellani, on the other hand, wasn't having such a pleasant day. She never considered her a prude. She'd always imagine that she'd have sex one day...she just never thought it would be someone she didn't know. The nerves clenched in her gut, but she made it the rest of the way to the flight rooms, turning in the door and fixing her gaze solidly forward. Please Gwen... She implored to her dragon. What she was asking of the green though was known only between the two of them.
A mystery between dragon and rider.

Sfelyth nosed at the canine creature His had insisted on getting a while back. He found it rather amusing that she leapt back with a happy yip only to pounce at him again. Rinse, and repeat. Over and over again. Ae'on, growing tired of the incessant barking and amused rumbles sarcastically snapped, "I'm so glad everyone in this weyr is so easily amused. Like children, really." He knew Aldonza wouldn't care about his words but they just might get Sfelyth to stop. Maybe. Okay, who was he kidding? Sfelyth lived entirely at his own pace.
Which is why when the blue turned his attention away from the exciteable dog to the rising green, Ae'on didn't even complain. Much. "I hate you. I honestly, totally hate you. Who is it, anyway?" Gweneveth. "Okay. Not helpful. Get going, will you? I don't want to get there and..." And not be under flight lust influence, because that would just be awkward. Especially if it wasn't a female rider. There was just something wrong with men being involved intimately and he really didn't want to join their ranks, even due to flight lust. Not wanting something didn't always mean you didn't get it though.
Sfelyth snorted even though the accompanying emotions were softer, more fond than mocking. And here I thought I was banned from chasing all but- "Finish that thought and you will regret it," Ae'on hissed dangerously, face flaring a brilliant red as he stomped out of the weyr. Aldonza tried to follow despite Ae'on commanding her not to so he was forced to pause and say, with more force, "Stay." He shut the door then and the blue dragon launched off his ledge to follow Gweneveth as she passed his ledge.
What game might we be playing, sweetheart? Sfelyth called to the green as he wound his way through the tunnel into the fresher air outside the weyr. He didn't so much burst through the treetops as he slipped through with a poetic sort of grace, twisting upwards before flipping and descending in Gweneveth's direction. As he got into the flavour of the flight, so too did Ae'on, though the blue was still holding off a bit. He wanted to see who else would be joining in before letting himself get too distracted by the green.
When Ae'on arrived at the flightroom Vellani had chosen he noticed a couple things. First, Me was oddly absent considering she liked to pimp him out during flights. Second, Gweneveth's rider was a girl so he felt relieved. Lastly, Sfelyth was still not quite into it. Hence the rational thought, damnit. Feeling the need to at least say something Ae'on sheepishly said, "Uh...hi." Awkward.

Lilu was ready for this. Venideth was well aware of his favorite clutchsister's increased glow, and had made sure Lilu had kept him in top condition over the past week, his hide oiled to a beautiful sheen and his musculature toned and fit. Yeomenth's maiden Flight had been a matter of sibling honor, but this... Venideth was going to win Gweneveth's maiden Flight one way or another.
In addition to her work on making sure Venideth looked his best, Lilu had worked on herself as well... at Venideth's urging. She was unsure of Vellani's leanings, but Venideth did not want to risk Gweneveth's bonded not liking Lilu's appearance and it affecting his chances with her, so Lilu had been required to spend much more time on her appearance than her weapon maintenance or exercise schedule, and it was starting to wear on her nerves. So, when the call from Gweneveth went out, announcing the beginning of her maiden Flight, Lilu was ecstatic... at long last, one way or another, things could get back to normal.
Using her memories from her time as the looks-obsessed memory-lapse Candidate she was between Fellsareth and Venideth, she had used berries to redden her lips, and a stick of green chalk to highlight her eyelids, as well as a some soot-darkened grease to outline her eyes to make them stand out. Her hair was carefully washed and braided in a loose braid down her back, and she wore a tight tan linen sleeveless blouse and a mid-thigh length pleated powder-blue skirt, along with a pair of woven sandals and a few ankle bracelets. If it weren't for her sour expression, one could almost mistake her for the Candidate Lilu of a turn ago.
Venideth, for his part, nodded in approval of His' look, then stretched his limbs carefully before taking off from his weyrledge, finding an exit tunnel and circling out over the jungles in pursuit of his green clutchsister. Unfortunately, his care in preparing His had delayed him, and another chaser had already arrived before him. He nodded in recognition of the older Sfelyth before greeting Gweneveth with, "Ah, sister, you look truly radiant this day." Moving to let the sunlight play off his dark, well-oiled hide and displaying his toned musculature to best effect, he added, "I have been looking forward to playing with you since I first noticed the start of your glow... winning your favor is my only goal this day." His Flightlust purple eyes flickered affectionately as he brushed gently by Gweneveth before he moved into a holding pattern around the green, awaiting her other suitors... his competitors.
Lilu, meanwhile, let the Flightlust from Venideth lead her to the proper flightroom, walking in to see Vellani staring at the wall oddly while her first competitor, Ae'on, stood by awkwardly. The boy was obviously not used to such things, despite his full rider knots, and Lilu attempted to remove the advantage he might have from being the first arrival by being the first to take control of the situation. Moving towards Vellani with smooth strides, she brushed her hand lightly across the other woman's tense shoulders, and as Venideth's affection towards Gweneveth bled across and turned Lilu's posed smile into a true one, she said sultrily, "You seem tense, Vellani. Do not worry, I have much experience in such matters, and will make this as pleasant and comfortable as possible, both during and after." Moving around to face her fellow senior weryling, she tried to look into Vellani's eyes as she added, "Just let me take care of everything..."

Lketh yawned and shifted upon his ledge, pale red eyes snapping open as Gweneveth spoke. Play? His pale neck craned as he tried to catch a glimpse of the maiden green. Er’animine? This green. Who is she? The touch of her consciousness felt familiar but, as it was with near everyone besides those he talked to daily, he had forgotten her name. He knew he liked her and really not much else. It wasn’t really his fault though. The albino blue had been born with the memory of a goldfish. He forgot near everyone’s name. Well besides that of his rider obviously. Hard to forget the name of your literal soul mate.
Er’ani had left his drills as soon as they had finished and then immediately had leapt into the bath. Now wearing only a loose pair of cotton shorts the albinorider moved out to the ledge still toweling himself off. “Oh! That’s Gweneveth! Vell’s baby green. You remember Vell right?” The albino dragon rose to his feet after picking the necessary memories from the mind of his rider. Yes I remember her now. I think I shall chase. After all he had not chased since Nitrath and though his needs were muted, he still had them. Lketh normally reserved himself for his sisters. But well he only had two sisters and neither had chosen him. He liked Gweneveth enough it seemed. Which the green should honestly take as an honor. The pale dragon did not chase many.
Er’ani grinned widely at his dragon. “Go get em Tiger!” The albinorider liked Vellani quite a bit. He always had. Besides it was her maiden flight and he would never forgive himself if something happened to her. Since Lketh’s emotions and feelings were so muted, it was always ridiculously easy for the young man to keep his head as he tossed the towel over his shoulder and started for the flightrooms. With Lketh in the flight he could protect Vell without being a nuisance. Er’ani had always assumed that he wouldn’t lose himself until Lketh caught. But really he didn’t know as the albino had never managed to actually win a flight.
Snorting at his rider Lketh leapt from the ledge like a coiled spring, his lithe muscular body cutting through the air with ridiculous ease. Twisting midair the albino shot into the tunnel after Gwen and the rest of her chasers. He broke out into open air with a joyous cry, his serpentine body arching as he dove into the very trees Gwen was skimming. Lketh’s every move was carefully calculated, as always, and he dodged and wove his form through the trunks with the expertise born out of his inborn desire to calculate every move perfectly.
Finally he launched himself off a trunk and shot through the canopy and back into the sky, leaving a trail of freshly shredded leaves in his wake. His consciousness briefly caressed across Gwen’s, an undercurrent of excitement and appreciation being shared before he let the connection fade. Lketh never spoke during flights. He rarely spoke at all anyway. His eyes could not whirl with the bright and vibrant colors of the others. Instead their red depths could only darken or lighten. Now they shown a brilliant crimson as he took stock of his competition briefly. The albino fixed their positions in his mind, and that was the only attention he would spare them. They hardly mattered beyond that. Obstacles in his way they were, and merely nothing more. As far as the albino was concerned Gwen and him shared the skies alone.
Er’ani finally strode into the flight rooms with all the confidence of a man who cared little for what others thought. His eyes flicked first to Vellani and he offered her a reassuring and charming smile. "Beautiful as always Vell." Ravishing in that moment most certainly. He reluctantly moved his gaze briefly to the other chasers and he nodded once to Ae’on before his dark gaze narrowed slightly upon Lilu as she moved towards Vell. Where did she get off touching like that without permission? Furthermore her words rankled him like nothing had in quite awhile. Who the fuck did she think she was?
“Hey you aren’t the only one here with experience chick.” His words where a low growl and had he been a dragon Er’ani would be baring teeth. “Let you take care of everything? That seems a tad bit commanding don’t you think Vell? How about you back off and let the maiden decide what she wants to do blueberry. She’s the one who rules this dance. Not you.” As he spoke he took one protective step forward but made no further move his eyes instead flicking briefly towards Vellani for guidance. He made sure to keep some of his attention on Lilu though.
Er’ani was no idiot and he knew taking his eyes completely off the woman was not a good idea. Regardless the albinorider had no fear, he hardly ever did.

The green was thrilled with the sounds of wings rushing behind her, leaves and branches been shredded by the passage of males behind her. The first blue who came to chase her was one she did not know. He was older than she, but he didn't seem any less eager to play with her. He was lovely though, she noticed with a trill, throwing a glance over her shoulder. Why, my game of course!, she purred brightly, flicking her tail at him in a playful way as she rushed over the canopy, not making a move to disappear among the leaves quite yet.
There were still more to greet.
The next was her dear brother Venideth. She wasn't surprised to see him here at all and in such wonderful form. She crooned happily to him, only to be surprised by his forwardness and the way he brushed against her. Her eyes whirred a bit faster than previously, and she elegantly banked away from him slightly, pointedly putting distance between them, but she said nothing about the slight irritation that touch inspired. This was her game. If there was going to be touching, she would be doing it.
Still, tactful as always, she didn't voice her complaints. Hopefully the flight will live up to your expectations Venideth. She said with a croon, not losing any of the familiarity of her voice.
And there was one more to greet. The albino blue rushed through the trees like a hurricane, and though he said nothing to Gweneveth, she greeted Lketh as warmly as the others, brushing his mind affectionately.
Time to play.
Turning sharply, she came back towards her blue suitors. She didn't need many chasers like her sister seemed to need. Gweneveth was pleased with the ones she had, and she showed that pleasure by touching them as she past. A caress of wingtips across Venideth's back, an affectionate tail brush along the length of Lketh's side, and she curled beneath Sfelyth to playfully brush against his belly. Then she was out again, like a flash she was off, powerful wings carrying her quickly back the way she had just come, wordlessly begging her chasers to KEEP UP, with a presence in their minds that was breathlessly excited and unerringly affectionate.
Gwen was having a blast.
Vellani, on the ground, wasn't quite so blissful. The first one to show up was a boy she didn't know, but realized with a little gasp and a slight flush was one she had had a crush on at one point. His awkward greeting probably should have made to make her feel better about the whole situation, and she did a little, but her voice was meek when it came out. "Hello." She didn't know what else to say, and Gwen hadn't fully encompassed her with her lust yet, so when she saw Lilu enter, her eyes widened.
The blonde knew it was going to happen. Venideth had been watching Gwen ever since she started to glow. The blue had an odd affection for the green that Vell didn't understand, since she remembered the blue shoving Gwen down numerous times during the hatching. Still, it didn't make her feel any better that she might have to sleep with another girl, something that she wasn't looking forward to...not that Lilu wasn't a good looking woman...not that she actually ever noticed, and oh god this was just a mess.
Then Lilu walked right over to her, as confidant as you please and started to. Touch. Her. Irritation welled in Vellani's gut at this and it figured that Gwen's lust would decide then was an appropriate time to overwhelm her. Vellani's blue eyes, which had been bewildered and wary suddenly held the tactile irritation smoothly disguised as pleasantness. Hand suddenly lifted, fingers encircling Lilu's wrist gently. Vell's eyes narrowed, a smirk pulling at the corner of her lips. Her touch disintegrated to a light brush of fingernails affectionately down the back of the other woman's hand as Vellani gracefully danced out of her grasp. "I think I'd rather take care of everything, if you wouldn't mind." She purred, eyes catching Lilu's gaze. "This is my game, after all." She echoed Gwen, walking past Lilu just in time to catch sight of Er'ani.
Now. There was some part of Vellani still in there who noticed the young man and was absolutely thrilled to see him. Despite everything that had happened, Vellani still cared very much about him. There had never been any love between them. She didn't think that Er'ani could ever get over his feelings for Caden, and she knew he had them...but she knew he cared about her, and his presence here was proof enough of that.
"Er'ani!" She brightened, dancing over to him and laying an affectionate kiss on his cheek. "I'm so glad you're here!" There was a boldness to her stance that Vell not hyped all up on flightlust would never have; the bounce in her step, the confidence, the kiss. Yeah, she was different. Her eyes widened as he spoke to Lilu, and she brushed a kiss against his collarbone, whispering breathily into his ear. "Thank you."
She pulled away from him then, eyes on Lilu once more. "I appreaciate your concern." Her voice had lost none of that friendly confidence as she approached the other woman., lifting a hand to brush through some of Lilu's hair, face close to the other woman's. "But I think this is something I need to decide on my own." Her hand traveled down, just barely brushing across Lilu's cheekbone before she laid a chaste kiss on the corner of her lips before dancing away, straight to Ae'on.
" And thank you so much for coming!" She said to the other boy brightly, bouncing over to him and wrapping her arms around his neck so that she could pull his head down for a sweet kiss.
All in all, Vellani was pleased with who had shown up for her game, even if the still non flightlust corner of her brain was petrified.

The blue crooned happily at her answer. Well then, darling, I look forward to learning the rules of your game. New games are always so much fun, Sfelyth responded smoothly, tilting gently into a wide turn around her so that he may survey the other males as well - both blue-sized, if not properly blue.. He rumbled openly with amusement at Venideth's brashness. Didn't he know there was a delicacy needed in wooing such a female? Well, time would be the only teacher for the younger blue and Sfelyth didn't hold it against him. In experience was not equal to lack of ability, after all.
The other one, the blue-but-not, was an interesting fellow. A lack of the trademark blue left Sfelyth curious for a moment before he shrugged it off and turned his attention to the green. She was moving in earnest now, even if only to flirt. Sfelyth knew better than most that every move could - and often was - deliberate when it came to such things. The blue kept his flight as level as possible without stalling or shifting into a glide when she passed under him. With her choice of contact came his confident daring to do the same. Light as a feather, Sfelyth let his curled up paws - no claw marks would be made on such a lovely maiden's hide - brush against her.
Sfelyth trilled low in his throat, sounding more like a giant purring cat than anything else. While he had been flying languidly before he shot off after the green with no hesitation, merely the smallest of moments for reflex to kick in. Rule number one: be caught under your spell? If that isn't a rule, well, it seems I'm doing it quite by accident, he commented, cheerfully flirtatious, as he chased. His words were private between them - a chance for her to get to know the public face of Sfelyth.
Ae'on noted with interest that the greenrider apparently wasn't captured by the flightlust quite yet either. Poor girl, she was as awkward as he was. With a sigh muffled under his breath he dredged up a faint smile to try and put her more at ease. It's not like Ae'on didn't remember what being chased for the first time felt like. Freaking Me. Apparently the girl who just entered - and ick, if that girl's dragon won... - thought the greenweyrling's inexperience needed her remedying. He snorted quietly in purely human amusement at the fact that the weyrling was talking of experience. Between Sfelyth and Me he had tons of flight experience from both ends of the spectrum.
Er'ani earned a nod in return and a faint smile again - okay, he was beginning to be a bit too amused for it to be mostly just him in his head - at his defensiveness. Women, they needed no such protectors. Or this one didn't, anyway. As Sfelyth drew more and more of him into the flight lust - such a gradual process that he hardly even noticed the switch - Ae'on loosened up into the ridiculously confident creature his blue was. He watched the interactions go on with a patient eye for details until it was apparently his turn with the green.
He smiled at her approach, pleased by her overall reaction to his presence. Considering the fact that they were strangers he really couldn't have asked for more. His eyes widened slightly in surprise when she hauled him down for a kiss but he gathered himself in record time. He wrapped one arm around her waist loosely and, without deepening the kiss too much, let her know that he was undoubtedly happy to be there. And when she pulled back Ae'on made it even clearer by saying, "Thanks for letting me play, darling." and removing his arm.

A swirl of confused orange joined the Flightlust purple in Venideth's eyes as Gweneveth's retreated from his affectionate touch and gave the impression of being offended at him. "My apologies, sister," he sent to her, "I meant no offense by my actions or words. I have no doubts your Flight shall be wondrous... I am here, and you have not completely dismissed me yet, so it is all I could wish for so far." Giving his clutchsister her space, he did not respond in kind when she brushed her wings along his back beyond a pulse of pleasure in her direction, then flew after her as she took off, his well-toned muscles allowing him to keep up with the green easily.
Among the human halves of the Flight, Lilu reacted with as much confusion as Venideth to Vellani's actions, the girl's nervous quietness quickly giving way to curt pleasantness with a hard undertone of aggression Lilu had never seen in her fellow weyrling before. Caught off guard by both Vellani's reaction and the newcomer Er'ani's rude words towards her, she fell back to the defensive, saying to Vellani, "I meant no threat of force. I was simply stating the advantages of choosing my bonded, since it appeared that you were nervous at first, as if you'd had no experience in such matters of physical affection. The choice, of course, is yours to make."
Giving Vellani her space, Lilu added, "After all, myself and Venideth are here to win this Flight by virtue of skill and talent, not brute strength." Her eyes then moved from Vellani straight to Er'ani, and she continued, "That can be dangerous, after all... offending a female who has very, very sharp claws." Her words made it clear to anyone paying the slightest attention that she was speaking not only of dragons in her statement. Her attention then returned to Vellani, and she moved to give the young woman her space, prepared for what games the young woman might wish to play.

Catching her sharp turn Lketh stilled his wings into a quick glide as she shot past him. Fast as she was the action still seemed to happen in slow motion as her tail brushed along the length of his side. In response he shifted his tail so that only the tip of it brushed over Qwen’s spine as she passed. The touch was feather light, in fact it could probably pass for the caress of the wind. Lketh’s own body shuddered slightly as it enjoyed the sensation she left him with. Oh yes he was glad that he had chased this one whether he won or not.
The albino’s current problem was now obvious. His lovely green was heading in another direction from him. He solved that problem by performing a neat flip and then righting himself. Translucent wings snapped back open and beat in rapid succession as the male’s serpentine body seemed to wind through the air with little effort in pursuit of Gweneveth. His mind brushed back gently against hers the touch conveying his own happiness and excitement. As he hastened after her Lketh’s crimson eyes half lidded against a particularly bright ray of sunlight and he snorted softly in irritation. How he hated the sun, it made everything difficult for him. In the shadow of the trees he had been able to see perfectly well. Here in the bright light it was painful to his sun sensitive whirling orbs.
Still it was a matter that was easily fixed. With a burst of speed Lketh shot out under Sfelyth and Venideth before pumping his wings harder to catch the end of Gwen’s shadow. He used all of their trailing shadows to slightly ease the pain the sunlight caused his sensitive crimson eyes. He could tolerate the pain well enough. He had even been taught as a weyrling how to fly without the use of his sight if necessary, relying heavily on his other senses instead. But in a green flight when directions changed on a mere whim, depending on the female’s wishes, it would be best if he could see with his eyes. Even if it caused him pain. It was worth it for the one he chased.
Still he did not make his discomfort known. On the contrary Lketh was nothing if not excited and pleased and he slightly decorated his flight as he flew on. It may have slowed him down a little but it would be worth it in the end if one of his slight variations happened to impress her.
Er’ani allowed some small bit of smug pleasure to briefly pass through his gaze as Vell brushed aside Lilu’s advances. See he had been right. As Vellani danced over to him the albinorider offered her a bright and affectionate smile and his hands rested oh so lightly on her hips as she kissed his cheek. “I wouldn’t miss it for the world Vell.” He promised in a quiet tone. It was too bad she couldn’t read his mind however. He had never loved Caden. She was a friend just as all his friends were. Er’ani had no real lover. It was doubtful maybe that he ever would. He had a bunch of friends he was quite affectionate towards. But so far that was as far as any of that went. Maybe someday….
The whisper in his ear caused a small shiver to travel down his spine and he gave her a small affectionate smile. So many of the others were already losing themselves to the flightlust and he was as rational as always. Only dimly even aware that Lketh was chasing. He almost envied those who could immerse themselves in the bond sometimes. “You’re more then welcome Vell.” He assured her before removing his hands so that she could dance off to pay attention to her other chasers. A part of him was a bit jealous as she shared her attentions with the others but it was as it should be. The jealousy was his anyway and not Lketh’s. It was as it should be in a flight though so he didn’t let the feeling show, instead only smiling in that slightly cocky yet friendly way he had.
Er’ani’s eyes flicked to Lilu as she started speaking and he straightened himself to his full height his dark eyes examining her briefly. He still didn’t understand why she was still making a fuss about Vell having no experience and why she would be a better choice because of it. Er’ani didn’t lose himself to Lketh either, and he also had experience. Lots of it now. He would be just as good of a choice if not better. Besides Lketh wouldn’t hurt a fly without prompting and even then the albino blue felt no pleasure in the action of killing. Instead he realized the necessity and was simply just efficient, even in the killing of his meals. The dragon was bound to be a supportive and gentle catcher as well.
Er’ani chuckled as Lilu finished and then gave a light shrug and simply said. “I think that’s why we are all here. To win through skill, talent, and affection. My dragon is the furthest thing from a brute. Besides his experience speaks for itself believe me.” Er’ani was immensely proud of Lketh. As for the talk of claws? The albinorider gave a small smile that had clear amusement behind it. “I am not a fool but nor do I fear anyone’s claws or knife be they female or male.” And it was true. The young man didn’t. Not because he was a master swordsman or anything more then a decent fighter. But merely because he wasn’t stupid and sometimes you could have all the experience in the world and still lose to the one who wanted to win more. One should never underestimate the strength of a person’s will to survive and live. Desperation and will could strengthen even the weakest of people.
He decided then that Lilu was of little consequence and though he made sure to pay attention to her enough to note her actions he decided he was done paying her any more mind then that. Vell was far more important anyway. Let the other woman be as uppity and better then thou as she wanted. Er’ani had really never liked those types much at all anyway. With a charming smile towards Vell he briefly dipped his head to her. “We all are at your command my lady.” He winked playfully as he waited for her actions to speak for her.

Ohhhhhhhh but Mi'rahhhhhhh she wants to play and I should indulge herrrr.
No. Don't you have a Rajnith now to bother?
Well of course, but she is a fickle green queen, and you can only deal with fickle by being so in return. What fun is this without jealousy? Kierjaarth was a master of twisting things around. Rather than try and endear himself to the plump green of his dreams, he was far more willing to match her tit-for-tat and eventually redeem himself with some cuddling. Make up cuddles were the most fun of them all, So, as I said... I'm going to go play, and I implore you to join and let yourself go. Make this an eventful vacation! The dragon scraped his nails against his ledge and stretched his limbs one by one as he sensed the flight taking off without him. He practically whined out to his rider in distress, begging the man to loosen up just once and join him. Flights were never fun after all when the rider had reservations.
Groaning and tossing his head back and forth in defiance, Mi'rah glared daggers at his dragon. He just knew there was no loophole to this situation - he couldn't just keep pushing his boundaries and show up at Tenlie's door every single time his dragon chased. First of all that assumed that she would actually be in her weyr to answer it, and having just finished his own drills it was hard to say that she wouldn't be still in the process of her own, or bathing to get rid of the nasties after. It would make sense, he after all had just been in the midst of touching himself up and polishing his shoes before heading down to the kitchens to snatch some food.
You're late. Don't make an ass of yourself.
Purring nearly evilly, the dragon slithered down the walls of the weyrs, sliding and letting his nails scrape out scars onto the stone before pushing off in search of this maiden named Gweneveth. He'd be a liar if he were to say he watched her very closely, he was just a victim of words. Being asked to play a game... such an invitation couldn't be ignored, and Kierjaarth thought of himself as something of a game master. So he was quick to put on a burst of speed to catch up with the rest of the dragons. He figured that he could afford it after all, he had enough stamina for the entire lot of them, and even if he couldn't pull off the spectacles and displays that the blue competitors could, he had plenty of other tricks up his sleeve.
Touching the green's mind he crept up as a well as a garish, Byzantine bronze could manage, and made his oh so humble approach to the flight, Now My dear Gweneveth. Do please tell me what the rules are on joining late? Can a spot be pulled up for me? The bronze shifted above the trees, and further even to remain above the other suitors. He needed the height, so that he could pounce from above. Dropping was always easier for a big guy than rising after all, and casting his shadow briefly over a blue he made the rare cordial request of the others, None of you would mind after all... another addition to the game?
Mi'rah started his own path to the flightrooms, entering into the room to catch some asinine conversation about experience. The bronzerider was never one to laugh at others, but he was absolutely amused by a batch of twenty somethings claiming such sagacity in regards to flights. They apparently knew all about it. Ha. He merely smiled quietly to himself and slipped off to the side to go unnoticed. Kier didn't exactly approve of this method, but it was better for everyone that he just stay quiet.

She would have responded to her various chasers, but she was caught up in the thrill of the flight, racing along the canopy, claws shredding leaves as she skimmed the trees. Sfelyth's term of endearment got a pleased croon from her throat, but she didn't address him directly. She was far too busy concentrating on the wind roaring past her wings as she propelled herself forward.
Suddenly, a new presence entered her mind, and her head tilted up, rolling herself over slightly to get a better look at this new chaser. A bronze? Only one rule... She crooned to Kierjaarth, eyeing him before rolling back over and putting on another burst of speed. Just keep up! She said cheerfully, suddenly disappearing beneath the canopy in a shower of twigs and leaves.
Gweneveth's navigation through the dense branches wasn't expert, but at least she hasn't lost too much speed. She sunk low enough that she wouldn't be visible from the canopy, but high enough that she could burst out at any moment, and she would...but not now.
She wanted to keep them guessing.
"Anytime, love." Vellani purred to Ae'on/Sfelyth, the line between dragon and rider starting to blur. She carded her hands through his hair, brushing another sweet kiss to his lips before she pulled away, head tilting. "Looks like I have business to take care of. Excuse me." She smiled at Ae'on before moving over to stand between Er'ani and Lilu.
She supposed she should be pleased that they were fighting over her, really. Even if they weren't really, but still. She didn't want fighting now. She narrowed her gaze, first sticking Er'ani with a glare and then Lilu. "There's no need to bicker. I'll show you both just how sharp my claws are if you ruin my flight."
The aggression dissipated in a moment, and she was beaming at them both again. "This is a time to be happy!" She grinned, noticing Mi'rah on the sideline, but she didn't go over to him. He seemed to be making an effort to stay away from them, and she wasn't going to draw unwanted attention to him. Instead, she started a slow circuit around her chasers, starting at Lilu and twining between Er'ani and Ae'on. She didn't touch any of them, but she watched them carefully. "What should we do?" She asked cheerfully.
She was so interested in hearing their responses.

Sfelyth watched the blue-but-not pass under him and dance in the shadows of the green. Hmm, now that was an interesting tactic. Shadowing in the very true sense of the word. Had he ever used such a tactic? He wouldn't remember now, he supposed. Venideth seemed to have stayed his wings, so to speak, though Sfelyth couldn't fathom why. If he was to make an impression...The blue dropped back a bit to spin under Venideth briefly, stealing the blue's shadow for himself like the other one.
Then there was another, a bronze. There was plenty of love lost between Sfelyth and bronzes though for no particular reason. The blue knew better than to show that dislike so publicly though, not without provocation. Not at all, Sfelyth commented, tone bordering on dry. It shall be interesting flying with competition such as yourself. Mostly because Sfelyth could fly circles around the bronze and was not ashamed to use that to his advantage to show off.
Sfelyth followed Gweneveth into the trees then, unafraid to dive into the branch-y, leave-y abyss in search of the fair maiden. He clipped his wings a couple times while trying to keep his eyes on her glowing green form. Eventually, though, Sfelyth acknowledged that the task of trying to watch her and the myriad trees at the same time was just a bit too taxing, even for him. The blue burst from the trees though he kept low to the tree tops with ease.
Oh they were funny. So very funny, these males. Bickering over how to win and threatening each other. He smirked in amusement but - wait, what was this? Ae'on's gaze flicked sharply to the newcomer in appraisal and he noted the quiet amusement on the male's face. So he wasn't the only one who found the whole thing funny. He smiled down at Vellani as she excused herself but rather than let her leave him behind - wasn't the point to chase? - he followed after her without quite intruding on her space. He was silently smug that they got scolded when he got kisses.
"The lady has spoken," Ae'on mused aloud to the other chasers, a cheeky grin on his face. As for Vellani's question...well. "Not to be too forward, darling, but I liked where we were headed earlier," was his response, a wink tacked on so that she could choose to take it as a joke. Most greens got friendly during flights - some just had different definitions of 'friendly.' He wasn't a real stickler between the two which he further clarified by adding, "But whatever you like best will be splendid, I'm certain."

Venideth hovered for a moment, awaiting Gweneveth's response, but then she was away without another word. Since he had not been dismissed, he could only hope that it meant she had accepted his apology, and he was still in the running. Taking wing after her quickly, he couldn't help but notice Lketh take advantage of his shadow as he flew, also noticing the red-eyed "blue" had his secondary eyelids shut. A vicious draconic chuckle passed his lips as he maneuvered about, attempting to keep his shadow too inconsistent for the other dragon to utilize, hoping exposure to the unmuted sun might disadvantage his opponent somehow.
Then, Gweneveth cut into the trees, vanishing from sight. Venideth knew it was dangerous to follow her, but he also knew he had catching up to do after his first gaff during the initial greeting, so if he wished to win, he would have to put forth some risk to himself. Pumping his wings harder, now happy for all the extra exercise and lessons His put him through, he dipped downward into the greenery, seeking out the telltale shimmer of his glowing green clutchsister. Spotting her quickly, weaving through the branches, he pushed himself harder to come up directly on her tail, doing his best to hold his head slightly up so that any strikes from branches he did not dodge would scrape against his armored underside while he concentrated on keeping his wings safe from clipping trees. A few branches left ichor streaks on his face when Gweneveth pushed them aside, only for them to whip back at high speed to strike him with how close behind her he was, but he did not care... he refused to give up for a few simple scratches. He sent forward a wave of affection to Gweneveth as he flew, accompanied with, "Mine has trained me well, and I am both strong and quick. I will keep up with you until the ends of Pern, if necessary, my beautiful sister, so as to be the one to catch you."
Meanwhile, back among the humans, Lilu began, "I spoke nothing of brutes, why..." when Vellani was suddenly between them, cutting Lilu's words off as she bit her tongue. She did not wish to make her standing with her fellow weyrling any worse, so she resumed her smile as Vellani did and did her best to ignore Er'ani... time enough to deal with the albinorider later, if necessary, after all.
She gave Vellani her best smile as the blonde woman whisked past her, and as she asked what game they should play, Lilu quickly searched her mind for a suggestion. It would be no good to suggest anything Lilu was truly skilled at... neither Vellani, nor whatever combination of Vellani and Gweneveth now shared the young greenweyrling's mind, would be interested in games involving combat or exercise. Then, it came to her... one of her weapons instructors back when she was younger had taught her the basics of dance, comparing the footwork and grace of dance to that required to be a proper bladefighter. It had been Turns since she had even practiced dance on it's own, but she still was an excellent bladefighter, and practiced daily, so she shouldn't be too terrible at it... likely better than any of these awkward young men, at least.
Extending her hand and gracefully pirouetting on one foot, she stopped the spin looking directly at Vellani with a wide smile on her face, offering her hand to the young woman as she said, "Perhaps as our dragons dance among the clouds and trees, we shall dance for your affection here upon the ground. A show of grace and beauty to match your own, dear Gwenlanni," she purred, Venideth's mind starting to slip over her own as dragon and rider blended slightly in her brain. Such words... apparently the affection Venideth felt for Gweneveth was causing more than simply how to apply makeup and dress in a feminine manner to resurface from her Selenitas Candidate days...

Ah simplicity. It is such a virtue and another good grace to be attributed to you... Well, that one rule clearly was good enough for Kierjaarth. He knew he could pleasantly surprise the lovely green and the other suitors as well. He knew that much for sure. After all he was a bronze of impeccable skill, and while he was rather large as most of his kind were, it was all relative. Compared to others of his ilk he was thin and distinctly feline with his long tail fluttering out behind him in serpentine curves. Purring to the only one of the blues who bothered to respond he dipped down low and close enough to Sfelyth to share the same breath of air before performing a stall and a loop that suddenly drove him down through the flimsy upper levels of the canopy. A few snapped branches and a few scratches on his hide were worth it, and it wasn't as if the tips of his wings long ago became hardened and calloused from similar covert activities of his past.
He dipped lower though... lower and lower until he was under the heavy and large limbs that could snap a dragon's back in half. At his height he was practically running along the forest floor, with a paw stamping against the ground every few paces to keep him just barely aloft. As risky as it was, and against his original plans at that, the bronze knew that these were not actions meant to take long. He would make up any time lost in rising again with the sheer distance crossed this way. Not to mention that element of surprise. Who knew that such a dragon as himself could manage the art of being sneaky after all?
With another bounce off the forest floor he pounced on a particularly sturdy looking branch long enough only to use it as a spring board to shoot further up through a hole in the treetops. In his wake here was a large shudder from the tree as the branch whined and cracked, eventually falling asunder and crashing in a cacophony of snapping wood and crackling leaves. A pity Kierjaarth thought, but there was little time to wax poetic over the loss of one plant's limb.
If Mi'rah was somewhat removed, at least he wasn't unaware. He had his eyes and ears open as he settled back against the stone wall of the flight room and listened in on the fine words everyone seemed to flower upon the maiden. The rider had no such words... but Kierjaarth did and was on the brink of flowing right through him to deliver stutterless speech. Pressing his lips together in a wry cat-like smile was all that prevented verbal action however. His silence would instead cast him as a mystery, waiting for the woman to approach him as opposed to any other way. Some might interpret it as awkward... but he was not without his own rationale. It was good he thought to let first time greens feel in charge, and it wasn't as if this personal method hadn't worked in the past. The thoroughly bronze part of him knew he had much more to offer than the others, but it was so unbecoming to go about advertising it so loudly.

As Venideth started to try and make his shadow harder to stay in Lketh merely rolled to the side and entered Kierjaarth’s massive shadow. It was more then big enough for him and the bronze was keeping well enough pace for the moment. The little baby blue could go try and mess with someone else. The albino had no use for the likes of him. He did not know the dark blue’s name but he would remember his mental signature as one to watch.
Crimson eyes focused on Gweneveth as the green flew and when she dipped into the undergrowth Lketh gave a joyous chirp and knifed through the canopy after her. While Venideth stayed like a novice right on her tail the albino took a different route. The male picked a path parallel to the green’s and then put on a burst of speed. One would think that such a thing was dangerous here where the tree’s where so dense, and in truth it was, however with his light sensitivity Lketh had often taken to using the tress to get around. He was as familiar with this jungle as he was with his own weyr. It was but a simple matter to wind through the trees and around trunks at a fast clip. He had no fear of them.
Winding about another trunk he launched off of it and used the momentum to shoot himself up right beside Gweneveth, only a tree trunk or so now lay between them. Once there he caught her eye and trilled one soft sweet and appreciative note to her as he kept pace for a few moments winding about the trees in a mirror of her own form. Mimicry was the best flattery after all was it not? When the green wound around the base of a particularly large tree he wound about the same one as well and then with a joyous cry shot upwards and out of the trees below in another shower of shredded leaves.
With a neat flick of his wings to dislodge anything that could be clinging to them Lketh powered forwards over the tops of the trees again allowing his eyes to adjust to the painful light of the sun before tilting his head slightly to try and guess when and where the green would shoot upwards. For she must at some point and they were all waiting for her too. Well almost everyone anyway, Venideth was still below. The young ones would learn though at some point as they all did. Follow a green too closely and friendly or not one day you would get slashed for your efforts. Even the sweetest could become fickle in times of mating.
Er’ani pouted slightly at Vellani’s scolding and then wrinkled his nose playfully at her. “But we all are happy Vell.” With a sweeping bow he winked at her. “Me? Ruin your day? Never.” Straightening he allowed everyone else to reply to her before be took a step forward and grinned. “I think we should find a game that involves everyone and I doubt dancing would accomplish that feat.” He gave a sideways look to Mi’rah. “How about tag then?” Taking a few quick strides forward he tapped Vellani feather light on the nose. “The chased becomes the chaser? What do you say Vell?” With a roguish grin he danced back away from her, a playful light sparking in his dark eyes.

Gweneveth was unaware of the antics of the males, and she didn't even care, though Kierjaarth and Venideth's comments were met with an affectionate brush of her mind. She was aware of their performance and their relative positions. She had to be to decide which one to pick. It was coming soon, she knew it. The burning in her wings was there, spreading to her chest. At the moment, it was bearable, and she concentrated on twisting and weaving through the dense branches, cataloging the relative positions of her chasers.
Surprisingly, every single one of them had taken to the trees in pursuit. Even the bronze, which surprised her the most. These were all good surprises, and she let out a croon of delight. As much as she was enjoying the chase thus far, she knew it had to end and soon. Time to give these boys an entirely new way to prove themselves. Folding her wings in as she continued barreling through the trees, she tensed up her body and without warning suddenly shot up through the trees.
Gweneveth exploded up through the canopy, her body exiting in a graceful spiral that carried her higher than her highest chaser. Wings opened and she propelled herself up higher and higher. The burn in her wings and chest was more pronounced though, but she wasn't ready to pick yet. She would rise higher and higher, throwing back playfully to her chasers. Almost time, loves. Just keep up a little longer!
Vellani flashed Ae'on a sultry look. "I was quite enjoying it myself." She practically purred to him before her chasers were spouting off ideas. Lilu's idea of dancing was met with a smile. "I'm afraid I probably wouldn't be able to dance as well as you, my dear."
She turned just in time to be stopped by Er'ani, and she smiled up at him, pondering his idea for a moment before letting out a melodic laugh and ducking to the side, running her fingers along his arm. "Why would I let you chase me when I have you all chasing me?"
Except.
Eyes fell on Mi'rah, and she stopped dead for a moment, a thoughtful expression on her face. After a second, she approached him, licking her lips before she spoke. "And what about you? What do you think we should do?" Her voice was soft, barely a whisper in the flightroom. She wasn't afraid of meeting the bronzerider's gaze, and she did, letting a long fingered hand rest on his arm. She was interested in what he had to say; what with him being quiet for so long.
