L'nu was dead silent and pale, staring at A'emi with big deer eyes. He was more than scared. He was terrified. His voice was pretty much gone, despite the urging from Paglieth to get him to say something. Anything. Something! The blue pressed harder on L'nu, trying to get him to do something to alert people where he was. Most specifically, Ioth's. But L'nu was too scared. That edge on his throat didn't help matters any. He was even too scared to swallow in fear, lest the action sever his own throat on that edge. His back was stiff and his limbs still, not sure at all what A'emi wanted from him. Why him? He wasn't anyone important. He didn't even know anything! He was nobody!
Rose screamed in indignation at part of her attack being thwarted, but it didn't stop her in the least. She dodged the swing at her with the back end of the blade, coming after A'emi's face again screaming her rage as she went. The only thing that slowed her assault at all was that blade being spun around, the business end coming for her this time. In a sudden crash of silence, the gold vanished in a burst of cold into between, evading the slash of the blade.
L'nu yelled, finally, when first his shoulder exploded in pain, and then his foot. With hardly any control over his own functions, he collapsed downwards into the arms of gravity. Between the mortifying terror of being attacked, and then one foot being stomped so mercilessly when he'd been relying on it to hold him up, he just simply fell into a heap at the base of the wall with a faint wail. A young lad, who had no idea what he was in for in coming to a Weyr in the first place, he certainly had never expected this. No one had ever warned him either. No one said getting a dragon was lethal!!!
For three long breaths, the hall was free of Rose. And then she reappeared, resuming the horribly cacophany of noise she was quite skilled at creating, letting the whole section of halls know her displeasure at the incident. Now she was really pissed, to come back from a trip between to find her slave was actually hurt now, and not just threatened. She dove at A'emi ins passes, never sticking around close enough to get tangled in him, never taking the same tack twice to try and avoid his blade. But she flashed her talons at him with every pass, trying to distract the other rider from her slave. Give her slave time to get out and leave.
She smashed back arrogantly at the green dragon that touched her mind, trying to bring around all the authority of her little gold frame down on the dragon. Which ... didn't work. But she still wasn't going to be cowed by a green anything! Screaming louder if anything, trying to summon any other flitters that might be in the area to her cause (which also didn't work very well, since they were in tunnels), Rose did not let up in the assault. As far as she could tell, she was the only thing standing between L'nu and an early grave.
As much as her slave was annoying, she wasn't going to let a green's slave mistreat her slave! That was just plain downright injustice! Not to mention insulting. Ironic as it was, Rose did not defend L'nu for L'nu ... she defended L'nu because she perceived an attack on his person as a personal insult and slight to her own glory.
