What, what? So it was a lot of food. Well, he was hungry. T’rid crinkled his nose at Raylin, sticking out his tongue at her, though he didn’t comment. The bronzerider didn’t usually stuff his face. He just – didn’t. He didn’t know why, especially considering – well, weren’t men supposed to? – but he didn’t. Not usually. But…he was very hungry at the moment, and so was Conspiracy, if the way the brown firelizard was snapping up his meal meant anything. He was betting Raylin was hungry, too; pregnant women were supposed to eat a lot or something, weren’t they? Vaguely, he thought he recalled something about that, but – he could be mistaken. It made sense to him, but – whatever. He’d just snagged a slice of bread and added a slice of the herdbeast on top of it in a kind of sandwich and brought it to his mouth when Raylin commented on Arrogance’s opinion of him, and the bronzerider pulled a face before he took a bite, deliberately chewing and swallowing before he answered, commenting dryly, “Yes, his thinking I’m a slave is so endearing, after all.”
There wasn’t a lot of conversation after that; between eating and making sure Conspiracy had enough to eat and was sated – the brown firelizard had, due to the bronzerider’s offering him just about anything that he, T’rid, ate, developed a taste for klah – T’rid usually had his mouth and hands occupied. The brown firelizard, too, gorged, despite his prim attitude previously; the bowl of spiced wherry (prime servings, too, haha…) vanished, as did a good deal of T’rid’s klah and a half-slice of the herdbeast; suitably gorged, Conspiracy had taken to preening, cleaning himself of any messes on his rosy-brown, rosette-covered hide, his tongue flicking out to clean himself as he rustled his wings quietly, eyes whirling contentedly. It was a daily ritual, his pampering at mealtimes, but he never loved it any less. T’rid ended up leaning back in his chair, a half-drunk cup of klah balanced against his stomach, glancing at Conspiracy as the brown firelizard concentrated on getting himself clean. Clean, clean, he wanted to be nice and clean…
“Hnn?” he queried absently in response to Raylin, and then looked up at her; Conspiracy’s obsessive cleaning fascinated him in some way. “Oh. Right.” A kind of smirk flicked across his face, and he put down the cup of klah, nudging it onto the table and glancing over the remains of the feast. “You and I, my dear, apparently can almost out-eat a full fighting wing,” he commented dryly, before he smirked again. “As for the bathing rooms…I have my private ones in my quarters, or you could go to the communal ones, since you don’t have your own quarters yet…poor Holders, greenriders dropping out of the sky onto them…but,” and he stood, stretching as he offered his forearm for Conspiracy to jump onto, “I think I’d better lead, or it’ll be nightfall by the time we get anywhere…so. Private, communal…?” As if he didn’t know what her answer would be.
That would work, Corinth agreed. The bronze’s eyes were mostly closed; he loved drowsing in the sun as much as he did swimming. I like it, too, the bronze added, affection tinting his tone – because of course he wasn’t biased. Psht. Even for a dragon, Corinth had a great deal of affection for his Rider’s full name; he couldn’t remember it, but that had been the absolutely first thing he’d ever said to T’rid: TeridenMine. He’d shortened it immediately after, but it had been said, and T’rid remembered it, even if Corinth didn’t. Raiden is a very nice name for a boy. When he Impresses – if he Impresses – his name would be shortened to R’den, yes? Do you like that…? He’d heard better honorifics, to be honest – like T’rid (biased, who, Corinth?) – but R’den wasn’t bad. I should not push Yours, Ebolath. If she doesn’t want to, we won’t force her, he added quietly, nudging the smaller dragon affectionately. For names – do you like – Terilyn, for a girl…? Ebolath had taken the first half of Raylin’s name and the second half of T’rid’s; Corinth had simply swapped it around, taking the first half of T’rid’s and the second of Raylin’s.
Just to make it nice and fair…

Raylin smiled and gathered Arrogance up into her arms. The blue flit huffed and clambered onto her shoulder, where he proceed to drape himself over her neck. “I guess we can.” The green rider commented, a bit amused by the actual amount of food she had eaten. She hadn’t felt quite that hungry. Nevertheless Raylin had ended up eating more than she intended to. As T’rid went on to casually mention the bathing rooms she tilted her head to the side. “Hmmm. Well, far be it from me to decline an invitation to you private quarters.” Her voice was entirely to innocent and she privately wondered how long she could keep the bronze rider guessing. Probably not long. He was getting good at reading her shard it. Moving to his side she hooked her arm in his. “Lead on.” Arrogance hissed softly. Then fell silent. The noise was intended as a warning. They had better not wake him. He was trying to nap.
As they left the dining hall, Raylin intentionally watched exactly where they where heading and tried to memorize the layout of the place. Just in case she got separated from T’rid. Which, if she had any say, wasn’t going to happen. The green rider had missed the bronze rider and had no intention of splitting up from him during her stay at Blossom. How would she sleep in an unfamiliar place if she didn’t feel safe? Moving closer to T’rid’s side as they walked Raylin tilted her head to look up at him. “So will they give me my own room? I really would just prefer to stay with you.” She said abruptly before adding. “Besides I never sleep well in new places. Unless, I have something that is familiar close.” The green rider chewed on her bottom lip for a moment. “In any case I will completely understand if you wish to stay by yourself.” Really it would upset Raylin a bit if he refused, but she wasn’t going to worry him over that trivial fact. Besides they where approaching their destination and her mind had switched tracks. Clean. She wanted to get clean first and foremost. After that well. She’d see.
Ebolath rumbled contentedly her eyes only half lidded as she looked over the lake surface. Hmmm. Yes I think R’den is suitable for a dragon rider honorific. Providing of course that he impresses. The green’s tail twitched imperceptibly. She had always wondered why only male names where shortened. Really she had no desire to shorten her Raylin’s name. Whatever the reason for it the green couldn’t grasp it. So quickly she left it alone. It really wasn’t important. Whatever the reason was it happened. That was that. Ebolath leaned into Corinth’s nudge and gave him a return one. I suppose I shouldn’t push her. But I still want to know. Silly humans. I think I would want to know the gender. It would make things like naming easier. Yawning the green curled in on herself and let her body relax muscle by muscle. She was extremely content.
Corinth’s female name caused Ebolath to croon happily. Terilyn? Yes. I like it. Very much in fact. It is very pretty. I knew you would come up with better names. I was right. A movement in the water caught her eye and she raised her head from the sand to tilt her head curiously. The ripple faded quickly however and the dragon just as quickly lost interest. Whatever it had been, it was obviously to shy to say hi. To bad. Ebolath was already well fed so it was highly doubtful she would have hassled whatever it was. The green liked to examine living things. Sometimes they had very interesting reactions. Other times it was waste of time. Yawning she lowered her head. Her full belly and the warm sunshine where causing her to get drowsy. To bad, she would have liked to swim. Then again there would be plenty of time for that later she supposed.

He most definitely did not trust that innocent tone. T’rid squinted for a moment before he shrugged, dismissing it. If it was something – sexual she was interested in, he was hardly complaining, and it provided inordinate amusement for the bronzerider, not making any advances and making Raylin do it all, even if it did also serve as something of a safeguard. He really did like her company, and he didn’t want her to feel like the relationship was purely physical, or like she was being used, because it wasn’t like that for him. But – but it was still amusing to him. “I bet you’ll be delighted to note that my quarters are, for once, not a death trap,” he commented dryly. Conspiracy and Stupid were being incredibly good – they usually were, but as far as his weyr went, he couldn’t bring himself to clean it. He knew where everything went; what more did he need? But at the Hold, he’d never gotten it messy to begin with; he hadn’t brought much with him to scatter – and the Drudges made sure his quarters were impeccable. He wasn’t used to it, but – it was kind of nice. “Corinth would kill me if I managed to give one of the Drudges a heart attack,” he added, crinkling his nose pointedly.
As he made his way through the now-familiar corridors of the Hold, T’rid couldn’t help raising one hand to brush his hand through his hair, wriggling his fingers slightly to dislodge sand, and exhaling in annoyance as he felt the sand grains against his fingertips. Dropping his hand again, he glanced sideways at Raylin as she drew closer to him, and, at her question, he paused, almost amused. She’d prefer to stay with him…? Funny: He’d offered to share a weyr with her before, but she hadn’t – gotten the question for what it was. T’rid shrugged, letting her finish speaking before he smirked slightly at her, tilting his head sideways before he answered, one eyebrow rising slightly, “I don’t want to sedate you, you know. You’re welcome to share a room with me – not just now, but anytime, if it helps you sleep.” He bobbed his head slightly, and then added, “We’ll probably have to let the Lord and Lady know about your arrival anyway, just so they don’t flip when they figure out you’ve been a full sevenday and they never so much as greeted you or something, but – I’m sure they won’t mind letting us share a room. Saves them trouble.”
As they turned into the hallway, T’rid stopped two doors down, and then, catching Raylin by the wrist to keep her from going any farther, pushed the door open and promptly ducked his head and shook his hair out, vigorously, trying to make the sand get out before he straightened again with a mock petulant groan. “Bathing rooms are through there,” he said, pointing at a dark brown wooden door. “Did you bring any clothes…? If not, we can get ask the Headwoman for extras, and till then, you can borrow my clothes? They’ll be too big, but it’s better than running around in the nude…” Because he could definitely see Raylin doing that. Right. Pfft. The room was large, but then, T’rid supposed that a bronze Wingleader would get the best rooms: A large bed, made from the same dark wood as the doors, occupied the center of the room; a desk and chair, couch, coffee-table type of thing, wardrobe and nightstand also were spread out neatly throughout the room. “Ladies first?” he offered vaguely, gesturing towards the bathing room. “I’m getting clothes for afterwards…” he added, even as he made his way towards the wardrobe in question.
The hatchling will Impress, came Corinth’s answer. The bronze was confident – arrogant – enough to assume that. He had never even needed to look at the other Candidates to know that T’rid was His; Ebolath had chosen Raylin without incident (or so he remembered) – why wouldn’t their baby Impress? Twelve Turns was a long time to wait to be sure, but – Corinth wasn’t impatient, and how could they not hope for the baby to Impress? Even if not at first – I’m sure the hatchling will; how could it not? It seemed reasonable enough to him: Growing up around dragons would make the hatchling confident around said creatures, and confidence on the Hatching Sands – or rather, lack of fear – would always help; T’ridHis certainly hadn’t been afraid in the least. I don’t understand why they would want it to be a surprise, but they do – and it is their hatchling. I expect they know best.
He crooned gently in amusement at the green’s statement, though Corinth was…inordinately pleased that she approved of the name. I am very glad you like it – but I expect you could have thought of it yourself. I came up with it much the same way you came up with Raiden, after all. He wasn’t just saying it to be flattering; it was true. The ripple, however, made Corinth’s head raise, and curiosity gleamed in his eyes. Would you like to go see if we could find a dolphin? Perhaps we can see if a dolphineer can translate for us? I’ve heard some of them can speak to us, dragons, telepathically, but I’m afraid I have yet to meet one that can…

Raylin laughed quietly at T’rid’s comment. “Not a deathtrap? Well I am a bit surprised. Then again you haven’t been here really long enough to get it that messy.” Nodding her head decisively she followed him closely, almost pressed against his side as he walked. The bronze rider’s offer to share his room was followed by a small smile. “Anytime I want?” The green rider tilted her head as if considering. “Remember how you asked me if I was going to move into a family weyr? I think I might. I really don’t want to bother Farryl after the baby is born and besides I don’t want to make anyone walk up so many stairs just to see me or the baby.” Pausing Raylin hazarded a glance in his direction. “Would you mind it horribly if I asked you to come and stay with me?” There she had asked. Really she had been meaning to for at least a week now. But with Hepaticath’s flight upcoming, he had gone and left and she hadn’t gotten the chance. Raylin paused as T’rid grabbed her wrist to stop her and examined the room as they entered.
It was nice, very nice. The bronze rider’s question caused Raylin to nod. “Actually I did think to bring clothes, But unfortunately they are at the beach with Ebolath’s flight straps. I really don’t mind borrowing yours for a bit. At least a shirt. There is no way I would fit in your pants.” It was the truth, T’rid was much taller than her. A fact she both loved and hated depending on the situation. As T’rid gestured towards the bathing room Raylin smiled and half trotted into them. Sand was entirely to uncomfortable. Getting clean would be lovely. Stripping quickly, the green rider slid into the warm water and sighed out loud. Arrogance watched her for a moment before hopping over to her discarded shirt and curling up into a tight ball. He would sleep now and he would appreciate it if she would stay quiet. Raylin eyed the blue for a second before replying soflty. "Relax Arro. I won't wake you." That comment made she submerged herself to her shoulders in the warm water.
Much better. Dunking her head under the water Raylin ran her hands through her damp hair and frowned. Yuck. The sand would take forever to wash out. The green rider leaned back against the edge of the bathing pool and closed her eyes. A smile came to her face as she listened to T’rid move about in the other room. How long had it been since she had been this happy? Not since Ebolath’s hatching surely. Life just never worked out for her the way it did other people. Maybe that’s why the baby scared her so badly. The green rider was just waiting for something to go wrong. Something always did. Raylin had never been one of the lucky people and she highly doubted her luck would change now. Shivering, despite the warmth of the water she wrapped her arms around herself to ward off the bad thoughts. She absolutely refused to allow herself to think about that now. It wasn’t going to happen. There wasn’t a reason to be depressed.
Ebolath crooned happily. Oh I do hope it impresses well. You sound so confident that it will. But I suppose with two dragon riding parents the hatchling will have a good shot. The green wasn’t as confident as Corinth. Perhaps because hers was always so pessimistic, a bit of a pessimistic streak had become part of the green as well. Ebolath just did not hope for things. Flicking her tail she rumbled at Corinth’s statement. I suppose that you did. But it is still a very nice name. They both are. I am sure ours will approve. The green stretched her legs and raised her head again as the bronze also took note of the ripples. Ebolath rubbed her head against Corinth at his suggestion. Oh I would very much like to meet a dolphin. I have never seen one before. They are not afraid of us? There are a lot of creatures that are. I think I would like to try to speak to one of them. It would be interesting.
Rising to her feet Ebolath stretched and strode fluidly to the waters edge before turning back to Corinth. So should we fly or swim? I think it would be hard to spot one either way. I am afraid I do not know how one would find a dolphin. The green was sure her bronze friend would have a good answer. He always did seem to know just how to go about things. He was very wise. Titling her head the green looked into the water. What about Stupid? Should we take him as well?

Her support of him was astounding. T’rid crinkled his nose slightly, sticking out his tongue playfully in a silent protest at the greenrider’s disbelief. Pfft. He was so capable of keeping his room neat – kind of. It just…he just needed the right kind of leverage, or else he didn’t see the reason to. Not getting raged at by dolphineers, for example, was reason (he didn’t like getting wet; he didn’t like dolphins) enough. Just because was not a reason. Just because simply did not cut it. The bronzerider didn’t need his room to be impeccably neat; he had no reason to clean it – so he didn’t. It’d gotten better since Mir and Dinner had died – less time spent doting on his pets and more on learning exactly how hard it was to navigate his room. Her question, however, made him freeze for a moment, and he didn’t answer immediately, biting the inside of his cheek thoughtfully as Raylin made her way to the bathing room, nodding silently.
Right. He’d get her a shirt. His were probably long enough to make a kind of semi-dress thing for the greenrider – he could get Corinth to bring up whatever pack she’d brought or something – but for now, that’d do. Actually…his pants might fit her, even if she’d have to roll up the bottoms; T’rid was skinny to start with, and now, with Raylin’s pregnancy…his head bowed slightly as he fumbled through his wardrobe for an appropriately long shirt – he left out pants, since she’d been under the impression that they wouldn’t fit and – he didn’t want to burst her bubble or anything. As for his moving in with her, though…he didn’t know that there was really much to think about, then. He’d as good as asked her, suggesting the family weyr, but she hadn’t – she hadn’t understood the question the way he’d meant it, and T’rid had been too embarrassed to rephrase the question considering that her initial response had been that she didn’t have a weyrmate. But – but he’d like that. He would. It would make him less…less worried, obsessively worried, about whether or not she was killing herself by not sleeping or whatever.
T’rid had absolutely no problem about depositing Conspiracy gently on the bed, the brown firelizard crooning before he hopped delicately, gracefully, to the headboard, standing upright with his tail curled around the nearest post, one small forepaw bracing himself against the same post, the other draped near his stomach as he chirruped quietly, watching as T’rid mock-bowed with a flourish for him before he entered the bathing room. No, he had absolutely no problem about just walking in. “I’m joining you,” he said bluntly, quirking a slight smile before he discarded clothing and entered the pool; he sprawled opposite of Raylin, exhaling in relief before he squirmed slightly. “I didn’t mean the bath, either,” he added a moment later, crinkling his nose slightly. “I meant – yes, I’d love to move in with you…but we can bother Kaegan about that later; right now I just really hate sand…” So says the man covered in the stuff…
Corinth crooned pleasantly low in his throat; the bronze had risen to his feet, fluidly flicking his tail idly. Of course he was confident, though; it was T’ridHis and Ebolath’s that were sire and dam respectively of the hatching – how could it not Impress? It is not uncommon for a Candidate from dragonriding parents to Impress, but lots of Holdbred Candidates Impress, too, the bronze commented idly, flicking his tail again. Personally he couldn’t see why, since His was clearly absolutely the best, but – Mine thinks that dragons Hatch looking for qualities in a person. Sometimes it’s obvious, and they choose them; sometimes they have to look harder. I am sure there will be one dragon who will find the hatchling acceptable. He flipped his tail thoughtfully again – it was a habit of his, the twitching of his tail, one that he barely recognized and certainly didn’t notice.
Dolphins do not appear to be frightened of me, so I assume they will not be frightened of you, Corinth commented, scooping Stupid in his mouth and turning to deposit the Salamandyr in one claw; he made an awkward little three-legged pace forward before he took flight, wings sweeping out on either side of him and carrying him into the air. We can fly, he stated simply. Very low on the water. On the other side of the lake there is a dock, and dolphins often swim around there. If there are none, then we can ask for someone to call one for us, if need be – but I expect we’ll see one. Coming? he inquired, after idly turning on a wingtip to face the lake before he skimmed low across the water, playfully looping backwards to allow Ebolath to precede him.

Raylin started as T’rid entered but quickly relaxed as he spoke. His slight smile was returned with one of her own. As he started discarding clothing, the green rider fought against the blush that came to her cheeks. It was ridiculous. How many times had she seen him naked now? Still Raylin couldn’t help the slight blush, and she hazarded a guess that she would never quite get used to the sight of the bronze rider unclothed. Not that T’rid didn’t look good naked…he did. It was just the way her mind worked when the bronze rider was. As he entered the bathing pool and exhaled the green rider softly smiled at him. Yes baths where very nice when one was covered in sand. The stuff was positively atrocious.
T’rid’s words caused Raylin to smile softly. He would love to move in with her? Was it wrong that she was suddenly extremely excited about his wording? The green rider moved then to take a position closer to him. Grabbing a handful of cleansing sand she wetted it and began to scrub his shoulders. Softly Raylin spoke. “I’m glad you accepted my invitation to move in. You know you are going to have to put up with my neat habits now? I’ll probably obsessively clean. Pregnant women do that I’m told.” That section clean, Raylin moved to get access to the bronze rider’s back. Grabbing some more cleansing sand she started alternately scrubbing and massaging his back, concentrating on anywhere that seemed tense. Humming softly she pressed her lips to T’rid’s temple and mumbled. “I hope you don’t mind the help. Your filthy. I suppose it is my fault. The least I could do is help get you clean.” After all he was the one to decided to join her in the bath. The green rider wanted to help. It was comforting to just be able to touch her new weyrmate. Yes she now considered him thus. Hers. Moving to scrub his lower back she made sure to stay away from any area that might cause to much excitement. Getting clean was paramount to anything else right now.
The urge to wash T’rid’s hair was surprisingly intense as her fingers absently brushed against it. Raylin loved messing with the bronze rider’s hair. It was a habit of hers. To bad he hadn’t gotten it wet yet. The green rider raised her hands to tangle them in his hair, moving through the slightly tangled locks to push more sand out. “I want to wash your hair.” She murmured. “Would you be so kind as to wet it for me?” Tilting her head Raylin caught T’rid’s eyes, her own expression entirely innocent. It wouldn’t do to confuse her intentions at the moment. The green rider wanted him to relax. There would be time for excitement later. She was almost positive of that.
Ebolath crooned happily as Corinth took wing. Bunching her hindquarters she launched herself into the air and with a couple wing beats she was airborne. As her bronze friend looped back she rumbled happily and did a fast barrel roll, coming out of it to drag her back legs in the water. The green had never gotten the chance to fly with Corinth before and the prospect of it excited her. Even if it was only a short trip to the other side of the lake. Gaining a bit of altitude Ebolath spun back to playfully loop around him. Leveling out she crooned. I do hope they are by the dock. I do not mind contacting one of the dolphineers if I have to. Truly she didn’t Ebolath had never minded talking to people if it was practical.
As the dock came into view, Ebolath twirled once more in excitement and let the very tips of her wings brush against the water. Suddenly, something burst out of the water ahead of her and the green veered in fright. As she gained altitude, Ebolath caught sight of the tail end of the breaching dolphin. The green rumbled. It jumped by me. She replied to Corinth her voice betraying her anxiousness. Was it just trying to see me better? I dare say it frightened me. Which I admit is silly. Perhaps startled is a better word. The green craned her neck and circled where the dolphin had breached and then disappeared. One more circle and she broke off to approach the dock.

Was she – was she honestly blushing? T’rid almost paused to squint at her, a grin quickly hidden behind a hand that passed over his face, splashing water into his eyes and blinking at the sand grains that met his touch. He rubbed his jaw, barely managing not to grimace before he glanced at Raylin and smirked at her; she looked very, very sandy too – a fact that he’d neglected to mention; she didn’t need to know! And it wasn’t exactly odd, considering that Blossom Hold had a beach next to their lake anyway. Likely people had just thought they had sand blown into their faces by their dragons or something – since Corinth had done that before, in plain sight of everyone. A nice handy little excuse. Still…he was probably covered in the stuff; he was surprised people had recognized him for a Wingleader and not for – for a sand monster or something. Wearing knots probably helped. The thought amused him slightly, and he turned to eye the full-length mirror behind him. Yup. Sand. His hair, especially, was tangled with the stuff. Why didn’t you tell me I looked like I got caught in a sandstorm? he questioned testily of Corinth (yes, he blamed the bronze. Not Raylin or Ebolath or Conspiracy or Stupid: Corinth).
You didn’t need to know, was the bronze’s amused reply, and T’rid sniffed indignantly.
Raylin’s touch on his back made him actually twitch in slight surprise before he turned his head sideways to smirk slightly at the greenrider. The mention of ‘clean habits’, however, made him scrunch up his nose thoughtfully. He didn’t actively delight in being messy – he just didn’t have the patience to clean up, and things…piled up. If Raylin wanted to obsessively clean, that was her prerogative, he supposed. He’d probably end up helping her just to make sure she didn’t kill herself doing it, but – T’rid shrugged, rubbing sweetsand onto his own arms. Had he not just come in off of the beach and its sand, he would have been much more interested in Raylin’s touch, but – his primary focus right then? Sand. So icky – so disgusting. Why was there sand? Could they eliminate sand? Drop it off between or something, yes…“Umm,” he answered, and then smirked a bit wider. “If you start being obsessive, I’ll definitely let you know…” How would he let her know? She didn’t need to know.
Her request made him blink before he obediently dunked himself – and, upon resurfacing, shook his head like a canine, whipping water across the bathing pool. Quirking one eyebrow teasingly at Raylin, T’rid sank into the water until the water licked against his lips and chin, tilting his head backwards to look at Raylin as much as he could – which wasn’t much, admittedly, but hey: He’d tried. The bronzerider was…actually usually protective of his hair. He didn’t like people touching it, usually, because it usually ended up in hurt: It tangled and it was an absolute mess and generally did not take well to being combed and/or washed. Ironically, he had a problem with its being dirty – so it was washed often. Bath-water he could deal with. It was sea-water, rain, the water from rivers and lakes – that made him want to squirm in an agony of discontent. “I’m curious,” he commented after a moment. “You grew up at Selenitas Hold, yes…? Why didn’t I ever meet you, hnn?” He’d lived in the High Hold for most of his life, up until he was Searched. Not the most amazing times of his life, but – well enough.
Corinth crooned as Ebolath rose into the air as well, the bronze dragon twirling in midair. He wasn’t completely adverse to communicating with a dolphin – he was usually picky about who he spoke to as far as humans went. He had yet to contact Raylin, fond as he was of Ebolath and, by proxy, the greenrider. Juliya and S’rei, he had; once, Ka’rys – but those were less fondness and more necessity, save for Juliya. As far as Corinth was concerned, she didn’t count: She was an HAD to begin with, after all. We would have to find a dolphineer first, he pointed out reasonably as he skimmed low over the water, one claw dragging into the cool water and sending up a constant spurt of liquid behind him; droplets licked against his belly, though the majority simply sprayed out behind him. I’m afraid neither Mine nor I are personally acquainted with any. I don’t think it should be a problem, though. Made sense for there to be at least a Senior Apprentice or something nearby, didn’t it? He thought it did…
He backwinged abruptly, tail slapping against the water, as the dolphin burst out of the water ahead of Ebolath, and then crooned in low amusement at the dolphin’s distinctly amused barrel roll in midair before it dove back into the water. It’s okay – it startled me, too, he admitted, eyes whirling rapidly as he rolled in a mimic of the dragon, catching himself before he hit the water. I expect it was, though…they’re curious, I think Mine said. Curious and intelligent – and helpful, I suppose. They used to be called shipfish, didn’t they…? As soon as the dock came under him, Corinth veered on a wingtip and backwinged, landing neatly right next to the dock and then shifting sideways for Ebolath to join him, crooning pleasantly; the croon was intended for their general audience – people, all eyeing the bronze and green curiously – as well as for his new weyrmate, if what he was picking up from His was correct.

Raylin watched curiously as T’rid obediently dunked himself under the water and squinted as he forcefully shook his head spraying water across the room. Eloquent her bronze rider was. A splash of it hit Arrogance square in the back and the blue shrieked in fury before launching into the air. Hovering, he scolded the bronze rider before blinking between to reemerge in the bedroom. Snorting at Conspiracy he alighted on the head board and settled himself carefully. With a final reproving hiss he tucked his head under his wing. Humans and their odd habits and infuriating ways. He would show them he would. How dare they get him wet. He hadn’t wanted to be wet. Never mind he dried quickly it was the principle of the thing it was…
Raylin watched her blue leave with a small shake of her head. Revenge would be forth coming. Perhaps the fire lizard could be distracted by food? Hmm. The green rider mused as she took a handful of sweet sand and began the job of cleaning T’rid’s hair. She was careful to loosen any tangles gently, and really, it looked more of a mess than it actually was. As he leaned back to try and look at her Raylin smiled gently but tensed at his question. How best to answer it? The green rider massaged the bronze rider’s scalp gently and thought a moment before speaking. “Yes I grew up at Selenitas hold. Or really a stable just outside the hold proper. I suppose you never met me because I never allowed to leave my father’s farm. My mother died when I was eleven and I raised my younger brothers after that. My father never let me leave, I was the only female and so to useful. I was basically a slave in my own home. Then last year my father got remarried and attempted to marry me off to my step mother’s cousin. I wanted none of it. When I was searched he wasn’t going to let me go. I told him I was going and he said if I went he would disown me. I haven’t heard from him since…Not even after the Siege. He obviously doesn’t care what happens to me. So much for family bonds.”
Raylin trailed off and it took her a moment to realize that she had started to tear up. Angrily she wiped at her eyes before trusting herself to speak again. “You can rinse your hair out now. It’s clean.” The green rider replied softly. Wrapping her arms about herself Raylin grimaced as she realized she was still covered in sand. Sighing she reached for some sweetsand. The green rider was trying to get some sort of handle on her emotions before she let it ruin her whole day. The past was the past. Wasn’t that what Ebolath always told her? Look to the future. She was safe now. Safe, appreciated, and loved. So really it was her father’s loss, wasn’t it? He lost his only blood daughter and for what? Some silly sense of duty? Well Faranth forbid she waste anymore tears on him. Raylin began to force herself to relax for T’rid’s benefit. Ebolath’s questioning presence in her mind was quietly reassured. Everything was fine. Only then did Raylin notice she had paused with her hand half outstretched towards the sweetsand. She gave a sideways glace at T’rid. “Sorry it’s silly for me to get worked up over it now. It was a year ago. My life is so different now.”
Ebolath crooned softly. Curious and friendly? I can see that. She paused before adding. Shipfish? The word does sound familiar. Twirling in the air the green hovered as Corinth back winged to land on the dock. Giving a final circle, the young green alighted next to him and returned his croon, adding a head nuzzle for good measure. They where going to be weyrmates. The prospect excited Ebolath to no end. She wouldn’t have to visit anymore because they would be together always now. She could see Corinth, Stupid, T’rid and Conspiracy everyday. It would be easier now to get hers to behave because she would have help. The greens eyes whirled in stunning blues as she crooned to the humans on the dock.
Craning her neck forward the green rumbled. Maybe one of these humans is bonded to a dolphin? Is that how it works? Do dolphins impress as well? She questioned of her bronze companion as she regarded the humans with placid whirling eyes. A soft croon was given to a curious hold brat who wandered up to the dragon pair. The little boy pointed to the dragons before running off excitedly to his mother.
Ebolath nuzzled Corinth gently. Such a nice place Blossom was. A small run off of anxiety from hers caused her to start but just as quickly it had faded. Turning to Corinth she crooned. Please let yours know that mine can be touchy when it comes to her old family. Not all her memories of them are good. It has nothing to do with yours. She is just moody and it is a difficult subject for her. Carefully she took a step towards the pier. The dolphins would be around it right? Corinth had said it was likely and she did want to get a better look at one.

Arrogance’s scolding was probably meant to intimidate. Probably the blue was seeking to make him cringe and apologize as rapidly as he could form the words; possibly he meant to simply scare him silly; at the best he was simply trying to make a point. That point was not made, and T’rid did not apologize nor was he afraid: The bronzerider burst out laughing. He couldn’t help it – the blue just amused him to no end, Arrogance did. Fortunately, he didn’t laugh until after the blue had vanished, mostly because he’d been surprised by the blue’s even being splashed. He hadn’t forgotten Arrogance, no, but he had been ignoring the blue – so adroitly that he’d managed to kind of tune him out; the firelizard was not important at the moment and therefore had no right to bother him. But – shard it, he’d have to get used to Arrogance, wouldn’t he? That would make for a fantastically chaotic weyr, it would, since Conspiracy hated the blue and Stupid – well, he doubted Stupid would like him either. T’rid had gotten to the conclusion (eventually) that if he was nice to Stupid, the brown Salamandyr would be nice to him – and he’d gotten there; Stupid no longer waged constant war with him. Unfortunately, he rather doubted Arrogance would be like that. Pity, pity, tsk tsk…
Conspiracy, meanwhile, flapped both wings at the blue’s arrival, the brown firelizard still curled up among the furs. They had been smoothed, the bed made, thanks to the Drudges, but Conspiracy almost preferred it when the bed was not made: So much easier to squirm in and sleep comfortably, it was. He made no noise to Arrogance, however, and merely lifted his body to crawl next to the pillow and squirm halfway under it. Stupid blue – he’d show him, someday, when he wasn’t so tired…
Raylin’s words made T’rid want to twitch. He refrained from doing so, closing his eyes for a moment. The touch of her hand in his hair was decidedly soothing, but – her words were less so. A slave in her own home? – honestly? The South wasn’t like that. Well – Lighttower Hold, maybe. Not Selenitas Hold, surely? Selenitas Hold was one of the Weyr’s biggest supporters, but – but then, that didn’t really promise anything. Still, it was obvious that Raylin felt hurt due to lack of contact, and T’rid resolved to lecture her father severely if they ever happened to meet. Which, fortunately for him, was probably going to be never, since he’d no plans to ever return to the High Hold, let alone any small Holds near it. “If it makes you feel better,” he said after a moment, “I’m pretty sure my father” – the word ‘father’ even felt foreign on his tongue, like it didn’t belong and didn’t want to be said; how odd – “has been denying my existence since birth, and I doubt either he or my mother” – another odd word – “know I Impressed…” Maybe that was pushing it. Certainly his father wouldn’t know; his mother might – she’d been the one who’d named him, hadn’t she? Still.
He paused to obediently sink into the deeper water and rinse out his hair, pushing his fingers through the tangles. T’rid honestly – didn’t care about his parents. They didn’t care about him, so he saw no reason to bother himself about them. Even if his mother had known about his Impression, she hadn’t tried to congratulate him, and – truth be told, T’rid was pretty sure she was dead. Actually, he hoped she was dead, or his pride would be severely stung, whether or not he would admit it. T’rid half-smiled at Raylin (comfort was not his forte any way you look at it) at her apology. “Just because it’s over doesn’t mean you don’t have a right to think about it,” he pointed out, tilting his head sideways at her (the angle was mostly so that his wet hair didn’t drip directly into his eyes). “Do you want me to…?” he added, gesturing absently at the sweetsand. He didn’t often think about the past, personally, but each to his own, and whatnot….
Corinth crooned agreeably, depositing Stupid (who was still fast asleep, lucky creature) onto his back and then moved towards the end of the pier as well, the bronze dragon peering over the water thoughtfully and then eyeing the bell affixed to the dock. I don’t think they /Impress/, the bronze answered after a moment of contemplation I do believe they partner up, though. The dragon lowered his muzzle to the water, blowing bubbles that sprayed across the surface. The Holders are fascinated by you, it seems, he added teasingly, pausing to nuzzle Ebolath lightly before he glanced around at them, trying to read their knots. Dragon’s sight was extremely good, to say the least, and after a moment, he reached out to nudge one of the teenagers, who froze in shock at the feather-light touch even as he answered Ebolath very seriously in response to her ‘warning’ of sorts: I will tell him…
Belatedly, but at least T’rid got the message.
This one is a Senior Apprentice, I believe, he added, drawing back from the boy in question to examine him for a moment before crooning. I’m not quite sure – can you read knots…?

Raylin smiled as T’rid laughed at her flitter. Arrogance seemed to be a source of either amusement or annoyance for most people. Probably both to many. The bronze rider’s words however, caused her to stiffen a bit. “Actually it doesn’t make me feel better. I know you probably don’t care but I’m sorry your parents weren’t around. I guess I just hope we make better parents.” Trailing off Raylin grabbed some sweetsand and moved over to T’rid. “You can help if you want.” Was the green rider’s quiet answer to his question, as she sank further into the water and began to scrub her own arms. Yuck. The sooner she got clean the better she would feel. Perhaps after the bath he would lay with her for a bit? It would be nice just to be able to relax in his arms and not think for awhile.
Mechanically Raylin lowered her hand to splay it over her midsection. Would she make a good mother? Only time would tell. The prospect of being a parent terrified her. Really it was made bearable by the fact that she wasn’t alone in her fear. T’rid was scared to. However he had promised to help as much as he could and that small concession eased the fear a bit. However did single parents make it? The prospect of having to do it on her own had terrified Raylin almost to tears. I would help. Came a soft gentle reply from a familiar link and Raylin smiled despite herself. I know you would love. I know you would. Whatever would I do without you? If you didn’t have me you would probably be insane by now. The green rider rolled her eyes. Thanks for the confidence darling. Breaking off the contact with a quick pulse of love, Raylin leaned back against T’rid. “Ebolath was just putting in her two cents. I think Corinth’s teasing is rubbing off on her. Not that I mind. I am glad she is happy.” The green rider paused before bringing up her arm to wrap it around T’rid’s neck. “After we finish would you lay with me for a bit?”
Ebolath crooned softly as Corinth spoke. Not impressed. Bonded. It was the same, and yet different she supposed. Whers bonded and it was said they could be passed down within families. The green could not imagine being with anyone but hers. Perhaps that was where they differed from the other draconic species. The bronze’s bubbles made the young dragon rumble in amusement before trying his trick herself. Her bubbles where not as good as Corinth’s but still she supposed they would do. Giving a small flick of her tail at the bronze dragon’s words Ebolath lifted her head from the water and fixed him with happy slow whirling eyes. I think they are just as fascinated with you. I do not think they see many dragons as impressive as us. She replied with a teasing lit to her tone.
As Corinth examined the young man, the green eyed the water for ripples. Turing back as the bronze spoke, Ebolath crooned softly and lowered her head towards the young man. I am afraid I am not sure about knots. I admit they confuse me a bit. I do not mind asking him however. Indeed she didn’t, and gently she nudged the boy’s shoulder. Hello. I am Ebolath and my friend is Corinth. Are you a dolphin handler? We would like to meet a dolphin if you would be so kind to call one for us. If you can’t would you please direct us towards someone who could? Ebolath tilted her head as she awaited the boy’s reply. The people of Blossom seemed so friendly. Surely this one would be just as nice as the rest. Almost absently she leaned against the bronze beside her and rumbled gently before caressing his neck with her head in a show of affection. I have asked the boy. Hopefully he can help us.

No, he supposed it wasn’t the same, because he didn’t care. Not about his parents. Nor about his fostermother. T’rid wasn’t quite sure why he didn’t, but he simply didn’t, and he couldn’t make himself care, though – now that he actually thought about it, his fostermother probably had cared about him. Ouch…? But his conscience gave no prick. It rarely did, though he was quite sure he did have a conscience (it generally woke up at the most annoying of times). It wasn’t his fault he didn’t care; he couldn’t force himself to, after all. He did, however, feel slightly bad that he couldn’t help Raylin, but – but there was nothing comparable; the concept of family was a foreign one and one that T’rid doubted he’d understand from a child’s point of view. Parent, maybe (his stomach flip-flopped uncomfortably), but not now and in any case, it was different. “Sorry,” he commented. An apology coming from the bronzerider was usually not sincere; he apologized often enough, but more often than not it was either sarcastic or deadpan. It wasn’t this time, though his gaze didn’t stay on Raylin; it flicked to the greenrider, and then away again, back to the sweetsand.
Itchy, hateful sand…
The acquiescence to his helping made the bronzerider move in the water so that he was behind Raylin, rubbing the sweetsand absently onto her back. He was…very physical; Corinth was, and so was T’rid, even if he rarely showed it. He liked touch; it was comfortable and it was much more soothing than words were, in his opinion. The bronze dragon, too, liked touching – part of the reason that he often nuzzled or licked those he was fond of, or crooned audibly even though he could probably simply send a wave of any given emotion if he wanted to. Raylin’s comment made him tilt his head to one side, smirking slightly despite himself. “Deepest apologies; he’s been a bad influence on her, hasn’t he…? If he rubs off on her too much, let me know and I’ll rage at him for you; I swear he was put on Pern to make me want to hit my head repeatedly against a wall…” Which he hadn’t done yet, but he’d come close. He had smacked his head against his desk before (but that was when he’d been Weyrleader, and Corinth said that didn’t really count), and he’d wanted to bash his head against a wall, but he hadn’t. He wasn’t suicidal. Not yet, anyway. Corinth was an acquired taste, as far as he was concerned.
Why was it that Corinth was unerringly polite to most people, and only annoying and sarcastic to him? Wasn’t it supposed to be the other way around – sweet to His, mean to everyone else? Silly backwards dragon…although, admittedly, T’rid was pretty sure Stupid was on Pern to annoy him to death, too. Was it possible to disown both of them and just curl up with Conspiracy…?
Raylin’s question distracted him, and T’rid absently propped his chin against her shoulder, almost amused by the feeling of talking with his chin unable to move. How…utterly…immature…was that? “We’re on vacation,” he answered softly. “You don’t have to ask, you know…I’ll do whatever as long as it doesn’t involve paperwork or sand; I’ve decided that I hate sand…so, yes.” The last two words were added on just in case she hadn’t inferred it from the previous comments. T’rid loved to do nothing. It was so easy. “Your back is done, if you want to wash it off,” he added absently, turning to scoop up another handful of sweetsand to apply to himself. He could bathe very, very quickly, hair aside; it had become a habit to do so – just so that he could drowse for awhile before Corinth decided he was going to shrivel up into a prune if he stayed in any longer.
Corinth crooned pleasantly, though his attention was rapidly focused on the boy, whose blue eyes, so typical of a Blossom Holder, stared up at the green; he flinched violently as Ebolath touched his mind, and then his mouth fell half-open in shock. Resisting the urge to nose the boy to make sure he was still alive, Corinth crooned again, flicking his tail curiously. I expect he’s never been contacted by a dragon before, Corinth observed privately, more than a little amused. He didn’t like to contact people. It felt strange. But he wasn’t adverse to it and this boy’s reaction amused him to no end. So shocked. He rumbled, the sound low in his chest, and as he rumbled, the boy moved, blinking rapidly before he nodded, shuffling towards the dock and producing a bell from his pocket at the same time, gesturing mutely for the dragons’ attention before he rang the small bell and then said, so shyly that it was almost inaudible:
“She’s – she’ll be coming shortly…her name’s Ala.”
And indeed, it wasn’t long before a dolphin leapt into the air, approaching rapidly; a shimmering gray was her skin, eyes bright and curious as she fearlessly circled the dock and then chirruped curiously at the boy, who waved nervously at her and then stepped out of the way of the two dragons (what if they ate him?!). The dolphin tilted her head, looking from Ebolath to Corinth, and finally settled on addressing them both: “Who you? Am Ala!” She was young, and clearly had energy to spare, for the dolphin playfully squirted water at both dragons following the statement, which deliberately fell short just shy of Ebolath’s forepaw.
Well. We have our dolphin…?

T’rid’s apology made Raylin shake her head slightly. “Nothing to apologize for.” She mumbled before leaning into his touch. The bronze rider’s words registered and she laughed slightly at his comment about Corinth. “Oh don’t worry. I’m not upset at all. I am just happy that Ebolath is happy. She likes Corinth. I can take a little bit of teasing. Besides she is quick to apologize if she thinks I will take offense.” Truly she was. The green was always heartbroken when hers was upset. A fact that was more bothersome than anything else. When one was depressed, they normally both where. It was hard to climb out of depression when both of them shared emotions so closely. Still Raylin wouldn’t trade Ebolath for anything. T’rid’s chin on her shoulder was comforting and she leaned her head against his as he spoke. They where on vacation? That was a nice way to put it, considering she had just up and left without telling anyone.
Although really who did Raylin have to tell? All her friends had been absent since she got involved with T’rid. He was the only friend she had left. Him and Ebolath. The rest had abandoned her. Pushing her mind away from that upsetting thought, she sank into the water as bidden and then began to quickly wash her hair. Grimacing at the amount of sand in it, she pushed her fingers absently through any tangles that got in the way. The faster she bathed the quicker she could relax. Bathing was a nice way to relax but shards if she still wasn’t tired. The green rider had slept, but admittedly not very long. Raylin wanted a chance to just laze around with T’rid. With Arrogance asleep and Corinth and Ebolath absent it would be just them. Well physically at least. The dragon’s never quite left their minds after all. Finishing her bath Raylin gingerly stepped out onto the bare floor and wrapped a towel around herself. Grabbing another she began to dry her hair. “Coming?” She asked quietly before dropping both towels and pulling the shirt he provided over her head. Absently she shifted causing her damp hair to spill over her shoulder. As the green rider waited for T’rid, she absently nudged the towels into a pile with her foot. No sense in making the place look completely untidy.
Ebolath crooned to the young man as he spoke. Turning towards Corinth her eyes whirled predominantly green with a bit of worried yellow. I did not upset him did I? I didn’t mean to. I forget it is different for those not used to it. Truly the green hadn’t meant to upset the boy and she lowered her head to nudge him again. This time saying more softly. Thank you. We would be delighted to meet your friend Ala. The green meant it to. The prospect of meeting a dolphin was exciting. Ebolath had just turned from the lad when Ala made her grand entrance, and she crooned softly in welcome before striding forward towards the water. She was careful to make her movements as unthreatening as possible. The boy was very nervous but she would never harm either him or the dolphin. Perhaps it was just because she was big? Even so he needn’t fear, she would never squash him. Oh no, Ebolath was always careful about where she put her feet.
Lowering her head Ebolath tilted it and regarded the dolphin. Oh! Corinth it does speak. Very well. Rumbling quietly she reached for the animals mind. It was foreign and a bit strange but not unpleasant. She had contacted whers before, and other humans, but the dolphins consciousness was unlike any she had felt. Hello Ala. I am Ebolath and the bronze dragon beside me is named Corinth. I am sorry if I startled your partner by speaking to him. I meant no harm. Crooning she wiggled closer to the water. I really wanted to meet a dolphin. I have never seen one before. Where you the one who jumped by me a few moments ago? Ebolath kept her tone warm and friendly she did not want to chase the dolphin away it was fascinating to her. It’s skin was odd colored and it was shaped funny to. However it seemed to be very polite and surely with such speech it had to be intelligent.

Oh, what? Pffft. Corinth couldn’t care less if T’rid was upset or not – mostly because he never was. He’d gotten used to the bronze’s taunting early-on, and why not? It wasn’t like the bronze’s arguments with him had started only a while ago; as far as he could remember, their first argument had been directly after the bronze’s Hatching and Impression – when he was feeding him. Something about the size of his meal and how small he was and how much he’d need to eat in order to get bigger, if he remembered correctly – which he probably did; who could possibly forget their Impression day, after all? “I wish Ebolath’d rub off on Corinth,” T’rid observed dryly, “Considering that if I take offense because of something he says, he presses to his advantage. Nice of him, isn’t it…?” He absentmindedly twitched his head to one side, discouraging a bold, stray hair from dropping squarely in front of his right eye. “Apparently being offended eludes me entirely now, according to him…” Which was actually kind of true: It took quite a lot for anybody to offend him (not to make him uncomfortable, but to actually, truly offend him) – especially when people weren’t close to him, because their opinion didn’t matter to T’rid to begin with, and – he was used to abuse with Corinth. The bronze, too, was used to it, though he was usually more sensitive than T’ridHis.
“Mmphf,” was offered in protest as the greenrider moved out of the bath, and then T’rid aimlessly glanced around to make sure everything was okay – like, no sweetsand had gotten into the water other than what they’d used or anything – before he nodded in response to Raylin’s comment, and then followed her out of the bath. Both hands were pushed through his hair as he snagged a towel, drying himself with it quickly before he wandered towards the main room. Hopping into the clothes he’d laid out for himself, he tossed the extra shirt at Raylin absently – it’d be too big for her, but that was okay; it was better than wearing a sand-and-salt-encrusted shirt, wasn’t it…? And sand-and-salt-encrusted was exactly what their other clothes were; T’rid clicked his tongue disapprovingly in their direction before he tossed the towel into a corner (the Drudges would pick it up either later that day or the next day, so it didn’t really matter) before he moved to the bed and fell backwards onto it, spreading both arms wide – perhaps almost childish, the posture looked, feet still against the ground, knees bent at the edge of the bed, staring straight up at the ceiling. Conspiracy peeped questioningly from his position next to the pillow, and T’rid turned his head first towards the firelizard, and then towards Raylin, one eyebrow rising slightly at her.
“Don’t worry about getting the bed wet, either,” he added, gesturing with one hand towards his own hair to make his point: “There’re extra sheets in the closet~”
Corinth only crooned in response to Ebolath, though the bronze leaned over to nuzzle the green reassuringly in response to her question. People were people; of course they would be startled by dragons bespeaking them. It was almost always like that; it was simply a fact and Corinth accepted that it would startled by it. But upset him? No; he’d probably be elated once the shock wore off – Blossom Hold was extremely supportive of the Weyr and all the youngsters probably were, too. In the next moment, however, Ala had all of his attention and the bronze dragon’s head came low to the water again, eyes whirling slowly. The dolphin was bigger than the length of his head, but not by very much; the bronze gave a soft, encouraging croon, and received a playful chatter in response as the dolphin surveyed both him and Ebolath again and then twisted with a flip of her tail, sliding under his neck and emerging from the other side fearlessly. Bold creature, Corinth observed dryly; he almost wanted to nudge the dolphin over to examine it – resisted. Likely it would not approve of such anyway.
“Not harm Vyriens, good,” the dolphin replied to Ebolath, and then clicked at the green pleasantly. “Ebolath ‘n Corinth; nice meetchu. Not me jumping, not me – Fyra jumping, younger ‘n sillier ‘n me, Fyra ‘s.” The dolphin made a motion not unlike a nod, and then clicked again. “Meetchu, Ala did. Now what?” A fair enough question, Corinth noted in slight amusement. They’d found a dolphin – now what? The bronze dragon crooned, lowering his muzzle almost to touch the water, and reached to touch the creature’s mind (very tentatively, lightly enough that he went more or less unnoticed until he actually spoke): It is true that you can tell the gender of hatchlings before they are clutched, yes? It was more curiosity than anything else, since – well, Raylin had chosen not to ask the dolphins. “Can, Ala can,” came the proud, instant response, as Vyriens took a step forward, wide-eyed and delighted at the sight of the dolphin chattering happily to the two dragons, until he could sit down (awkwardly and very slowly) on the end of the pier, lowering one hand to touch Ala for comfort.

Raylin watched T’rid flop on the bed and quirked an eyebrow at the bronze rider. Slowly she settled herself on the bed above his head next to the pillow. “Are you comfortable?” She asked before bending her body over to kiss his forehead. The green rider was careful to keep her damp hair from dripping on him. T’rid hated to get wet. She remembered that. Scooting back towards the head of the bed she trailed a finger absently down Conspiracy’s back and looked up at the headboard towards Arrogance. The little blue flit was sleeping with his legs dangling comically over the side of the wooden structure. Silly thing. At least he was asleep, he couldn’t scold when he was sleeping after all.
Sighing Raylin smoothed the covers with her free hand. “I don’t bite you know. You could come over here with me.” She said softly before opening her arms in an invitation. “Unless you would rather stare at the ceiling.” The green rider tried not to look to pleading, after all some people didn’t like to cuddle. Somehow though she doubted T’rid was one of them. He seemed to like physical interaction and she was far from wanting to discourage that. Raylin preferred touch to words and she was of the opinion that he was very much the same way.
Ebolath watched Ala with undisguised delight. The dolphin was very interesting. Not only that but she was also very… well Corinth had phrased it nicely. Bold. She was bold. Vyriens? Ebolath repeated to the dolphin. Is that your handlers name? It is a very nice name. The green continued before lowering her snout into the water to blow some bubbles. The dolphin might find it amusing. Then again she could probably blow better ones. Raising her head from the water she rumbled. Fyra is younger than you? She did startle me but I do not think she meant to. Corinth thinks she was just trying to get a better look at us. Ebolath keep up a friendly conversation with the creature. It did not seem put off by her contact and so the dragon saw no reason why she could not continue to speak.
Ebolath fell silent as Corinth spoke to Ala and studied the dolphin thoughtfully. Turning to Corinth she nuzzled his neck. The dolphin was a very interesting creature. She wanted to touch it but she held back for fear of startling the creature. Slowly the green dragon lowered her head towards the dolphin. Ebolath was careful not to appear threatening. The boy seemed to be relaxing and she did not want to ruin it. When she spoke, she kept her voice soft and light and included the handler to be polite. I am afraid I did not think of what to do after I met you. I knew I wanted to met a dolphin and talk to it. Now I have. Pausing she eyed the water thoughtfully. Could I swim with you? I am afraid you will be far more graceful than I, but I think we could make up a game if you wanted. Didn’t hers say dolphins liked very much to play? Ebolath would have asked hers but she didn’t want to bother her. No Rayhers was very happy and it was better if she focused on being happy right now. It made things so much nicer when hers was in a good mood. Rumbling to Corinth the green touched the bronze’s neck lightly. Do you want to join me in the water?
