Elysia swayed through the crowds with ease to meet back up with her prisoner, or date for the night. Depending how one looked at it. In the crook of her arm she carried the merchandise she had just bought. The stall she had just exited was a clue as to what the basket contained. Baron sat upright on her shoulder and offered the harper who was his mistress’s current ‘toy?’ a croon. Oh hello again? Why hadn’t he run away that time? Snaking his head around the brown looked with interest from the harper to the basket his was carrying. Baby soon yes. Very soon. He could tell. With a final wing flick the brown settled for the moment.
While Baron seemed settled the rider was far from settled. Reaching out she grabbed Dmitri’s arm with her other hand. She was looking quite resplendent in a low cut red satin evening dress, complete with golden embroidery. It has a slit up the left side that showed just enough leg without looking to slutty. See she could look nice. Black strapped sandals completed the look. Heels would have been too uncomfortable. The greenrider did plan on walking after all. With a sideways glace to her companion she purred. “Bored darling? What would you like to do. I think I am done with my shopping for the moment. We can do something you want for awhile now. Baring that we can find a nice quiet area.” There was some suggestion in those words definitely. For now it was more playful baiting but later? Oh later was later.
Tugging at his arm lightly Elysia motioned with a head throw towards the other stalls. “Come now you can’t pout all night.” She said sweetly bringing up her hand to mess his now short hair. Well technically he could but that wouldn’t save him. He had made the bet and lost he had to deal with the consequences. All of them. With sudden swiftness she seized his chin and brought her face close to his. “Darling don’t make his difficult. You lost.” She said that word with a purr before nuzzling his neck and pulling away. All this standing was boring surely he had something he wanted to do? Dark eyes examined him for a moment as she waited. If he thought he could waste the whole night by standing here procrastinating he had another thing coming.

The young harper had turned out nice, and really solely to be an ass about it, if truth be told. If he had to go with her, he was going to look like he belonged at her side and - with any luck - maybe even give her a reason to sulk later when morning came and she still hadn't gotten what she wanted. The boy was extremely stubborn when he had a mind to be. He'd also made Dementia stay back. Much as her presence was comforting, she really disliked Elysia, and he didn't need that screwing up his head all night. Dressed in fitted white pants, a sleeveless medium blue silk shirt that clung the way silk did and had minimal white needlework all around the open collar, he'd tie a golden sash around his slender waist. His left arm bore the gold snake coiling around his bicep - a gift from one of the other harpers before he left - and his right arm sported a white glove all the way up to the elbow, fingerless. His hair he'd left mostly alone...it liked to be a bit wild and wasn't worth the bother. Overwhelmingly masculine the boy certainly wasn't, but there was a litheness about him tonight that wasn't feminine either. At all. That air was compounded by his mildly put out expression as he rested his foot on the bench in front of him, chin resting on his hand and fingertips drumming...drumming...drumming. Conniving woman. Get him bored enough and he'd be begging her to liven it up and not caring how. Conniving.
He watched her through slitted eyes, the blue in his dark grays more prominent tonight. Yes, she wasn't playing nice either, not in that outfit. The small amount of modesty actually added to it, and Dmitri was aware of the looks she was getting. Also the bit of curiosity as to the pair together, though in this setting she didn't seem as much older than him as she actually was. It probably had more to do with his scarring than any thought as to the disparity of age. Rubbing it in, hm? He arched a brow at her, mostly expressionless otherwise. The second eyebrow lifted to join the first at that mild suggestive tone, the flicker of a wry smirk tugging at one corner of his lips. Uh huh, suuuure. Definitely hadn't worked hard enough to get that just yet.
Still unmoving, he merely met her gaze rebelliously. No, he hadn't said a single word to her yet thus far, not when she picked him up, not since she started her shopping. It was almost a game for him. Seeing how long it took to really start getting to her. The hand on his chin caused his eyes to narrow further, and he unfolded, standing to his full and ever-increasing height. He uttered his first words, then: "Are you hungry?" A sideglance at her. Noncommittal, that question. She might have him for the night, as per their agreement, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to make her work. Hard.

Elysia leaned into Dmitri as he stood, her eyebrow raising at his flat tone. Humph he was being such a party pooper. Dark eyes examined him for a moment before she took a step forward and wrapped her arms about his waist. “I could eat. What where you thinking?” She purred. Make a decision. Her leg brushed gently against his as she looked up at him. Distraction. Then she caught movement out of the corner of her eye and sighed. Her tongue clicked to Baron and he flared his wings before leaping off her shoulder. With no sound he flew straight at a staring holder. There was no threat in the motion but the startled man flailed slightly before trotting away, making Elysia smile. Idiot. Circling the brown returned to his bonded and trilled sweetly. He did good yes?
Detaching herself from the harper she ran her fingers lightly down the flitter’s back. Looking back over her shoulder at Demi she motioned with a finger. “Come then if you have no preference I guess I’ll pick.” Whatever she decided to eat it wouldn’t be too expensive anyway. She hadn’t the marks. Which slightly rankled her. She should have brought some from Benden. Poor planning on her part.
Walking ahead of him she put just enough sway into her hips to make things interesting should he choose to watch. To be honest Elysia had been slightly surprised that he had dressed up for her. Because yes he surely had done so just for her. She guessed that it only made sense that he wouldn’t want to come off as drab in comparison. Tsk. He had done a good job. She was impressed. Brat. Sneaking a backwards glace she smiled wickedly. If he thought to play her game that was fine. She would have her fun yet she was sure. The night was oh so young after all. There was so much promise in it. Plenty of time for a battle of wills. It was odd but Elysia had been looking forward to this.
Intentionally slowing down, she waited until the harper drew closer before turning and gesturing to the food stall. “I’ll wait here. You get what you want.” Baron upon her shoulder chirped and the rider turned her head to look at him. “You can’t possibly be hungry. I just fed you before we left. Don’t be a glutton Baron.” The brown just chirped again and then flew to land on a nearby table. Shrugging one shoulder Elysia turned to follow the flit, waving Demi off. “Hurry love. I’ll get a seat.” She called back sweetly before making her way to a table and perching daintily on the edge of a chair. Putting her head on her hands she waited, watching him the entire time. She doubted he would run but watching him might give her some clues as to his current thought process.

Faint amusement touched his lips as he looked down at Elysia, that amusement only increasing at Baron's little strafing run. Irritated at others paying too close attention, was she? Now that was interesting. The calculating gleam had vanished by the time she glanced back, the boy shrugging a shoulder and following after noncommittally, eyes narrowing slightly on her suggestive sway. He took advantage of her slowing down, pinching her rump and slipping past her at the same time. "There's only one food stall. What's there to pick?" he responded dryly, glancing over his shoulder to see where she'd chosen to seat herself.
Was his glide perhaps a little more graceful than normal? In all likelihood, probably not, though he was keenly aware of the eyes on his back. Which inspired him to head for the prettiest little wench at the stall, leaning across the food and helping her settle a pot of the soup on the stand made especially for that purpose. He smiled at the girl, leaning up against the tables and being sure to give Elysia a full view in profile as he chatted the wench up animatedly, the girl giggling and blushing right on cue.
Leaning in close, he whispered in the girl's ear, "I've got a beautiful woman with me I'd really like to impress, but she's way beyond my league." His head tilted in the direction of Elysia. Her eyes widened, then she ducked behind her hand, tittering. Dmitri resisted the urge to accidentally knock the soup over on her. That fake little titter was irritating. "Any suggestions on what I should get?" After waving to Elysia, the girl bobbed in place, hurriedly gathering together enough food for twice their number.
Dmitri looked at it skeptically. "That's gonna be awfully expensive." Waving his words aside, she leaned in just as he had a couple moments ago, her lips brushing his ear. "Five marks for you. But if it doesn't work out..." Kissing his cheek, she merrily finished wrapping it together, scooping up the marks he counted out. "Hope you don't mind if I don't wish you luck."
He carried the food over to the table, glancing down at her, the barest touches of a smirk twitching at the corner of his lips. "Now it all makes sense. Typical female...dragging along a guy to pay the bills." Dmitri nodded to the food he'd mostly wheedled - and quite shamelessly, too - out of the serving girl. "Well, I don't know about you, but I don't think I can handle this night sober. Wine?" The cork popped free with an expert twist, though where the opener had come from - or where it disappeared back to - was anyone's guess. He raised a brow as he took up the bottle of red (his flirtations weren't worth a bottle of Benden, apparently, but it was still a good catch) waiting for her response.

As Elysia sat watching the harper her mind flipped back to the fact that he had pinched her. The little move had thrown her for a loop. She just hadn’t expected anything of the sort from him. In fact she had expected him to shy away from such. What kind of game was he trying to play. As the greenrider was attempting to figure such out she watched him lean towards a pretty little server. Irrationally a bolt of anger flared through her. What!? Baron upon the table flared his wings and hissed. Who had upset his? Did she want him to deal with it? Elysia put a restraining hand on his back and cooed down to the flit. “No darling. Stay put.” She commanded sweetly tapping her nails on the table before returning her gaze to the stall. Idly she looked the girl up and down. She wasn’t that great looking.
That little git. He was likely doing it on purpose to try and bait a reaction out of her. Well she just wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction. It shouldn’t bother her anyway. What did she care if he threw himself at another women? She didn’t care (to much) but he should have the common decency to pay attention solely to her. They where ‘together’, at least for the might. Resisting the urge to snort as the server gave a wave her way Elysia ignored them both, shifting to cross one of her long legs over the other. Baron chirped and leapt into her lap and she trailed her fingers down his spine as she waited. She watched as the server collected the food and a small smile spread across her face. He seemed to know just how to manipulate her. Of course. Now it made sense.
With interest she watched as Demi strode back with the food. By the time he drew close Elysia had banished all traces of anger from her face and body language. Instead she watched him set the food down and then looked back up at him through her lashes. “Now Dmitri love. Males have many uses beside bill paying.” Her eyes flicked from the food back to him. “How much do I owe you?” Because she would be paying him back. There was no way she was going to give him something to hold over her head, even if it was something as trivial as marks. The greenrider shooed Baron off her lap as the harper opened the wine. Picking up a glass she held it over to him and gestured for him to fill it, sufficiently answering his question.
Taking a sip of the wine Elysia smiled. “Don’t get too drunk darling. I want you to be able to remember this night. It would be most unfortunate if you woke up without a clue as to what happened.” Her voice was sweet but there was a ring of warning to it as well. If he did get drunk on her she would dump him somewhere. She wasn’t interested in a drunk Dmitri. That just wasn’t fun at all. Reaching across the table she laid her hand over his uninjured one and stroked it. “So do you dance?” Because that was a wonderful way to get him nice and close.
Baron was ignoring the two humans to examine the basket at Elysia’s feet. Chirping he nudged the warm cloth and it nudged him right back! With a soft trill the brown flipped up the edge of the cloth to revel a rocking egg. Oh! Baby was coming. He looked up at his and seeing she was busy went back to watching the now cracking egg. Quietly he began to hum, the pitch growing louder and louder with each passing second. Come on little baby. Time to come out.

She certainly liked throwing those pet names around, didn't she? A small twitch in his face, though it was hard to tell if that meant he was bothered or amused, it was so brief a thing. Lifting a brow at her question, he simply shrugged. "Is this where I'm supposed to say your presence alone is repayment enough?" he questioned snarkily. "Don't want to miss my cue." Was he being a brat? Oh yes. Did he care? Ha. As if. As he saw it, Elysia had chosen the terms of their bet, and if she didn't like what she got, tough. Anyone who knew him would know he wasn't someone to expect niceness from. Or anything but a headache, really. He liked it that way, yes.
Despite the words, though, he filled her glass obligingly, then poured one for himself and set the bottle off to the side. He divided the soup between them, adding to that plates of fried dough for the soup and a couple steamed oysters. "There's a lot of food here," he commented, wrinkling his nose before pulling out a slender blade and oilcloth. It was used for tweaking instruments normally, but it would serve its purpose. Grasping the handle between his teeth, he divided up the salad, rearranging it with a careful eye, then took the knife to the fish fillet, deftly separating it into strips and adding them to the salads. Cleaning the blade off again, it returned to wherever it had come from. He set up the last two plates, with wherry legs on beds of steamed vegetables and a couple slices of buttered bread, and slid that along with a serving of the pudding toward her. Dmitri wasn't too worried about not finishing the food, however; he hadn't eaten yet and he'd probably finish whatever she didn't.
Only then did he sit, once it was all set up, swirling the wine around his glass to stir up the dregs before sipping at it. He laughed softly at her veiled command. "Even if I wasn't sharing, a bottle isn't enough." Not with the amount of alcohol in this particular vintage, he could tell by just a taste. "You forget; harpers do little but attend events like this." He couldn't remember the last time he'd been drunk. Turns ago, certainly. And not off wine. No, the wine wouldn't effect him much, though that didn't mean he wouldn't be quite pleased if Elysia managed to get tipsy. Not drunk, mind you, he didn't like babysitting. Suggestible though? Oh yes.
The touch drew his eyes, mild questioning behind them. He didn't pull away, though the impulse was there. Instead, he swirled the fried dough around in his soup, sucking the moisture off before nibbling on it. The food was pretty good here, he had to admit. After figuring she'd waited a sufficient amount of time for his answer, the wherhandler nodded slightly. "I've been taught." Noncommittal. He was actually something of a natural at it, and Harper Hall had taken advantage of that upon occasion. Selenitas Weyr and the surrounding holds were actually something of a step down from the performances and functions he used to attend.

Elysia merely raised an eyebrow at his snarky comment. Really? He was going to be that much of a brat? Was she honestly surprised? Not really. Sighing she tilted her head and smiled. “I will pay you back one way or another. If you would rather I repay you some other way that is fine.” She flicked her hand in a dismissive gesture. “So marks or something else. You get to decide but I will be paying you back.” Her words where firm and she neglected to comment on his remark about her presence. Of course it should be payment enough and it might be for a different man, but not for Dmitri. He was, well, very different from her usual company. Vastly different really.
Swirling her wine the greenrider took another sip and idly watched as her companion began splitting up the food. A lot of food was an understatement. Treating her well despite his temperament wasn’t he? That thought made her smile. Her eyes went over the spread again and she picked up a piece of bread. Dipping it in the soup she took a bite. Wonderful. Washing it down with a sip of wine she considered Demi again. He eyes appraising him. He was an odd one. Really. Despite being so young he had a nice grip on things. He was far from a naive little boy. The north tended to do that to the young however. They grew up much to fast. Unconsciously she drew a finger over the numerous thin whip scars that covered her arm. Much, much too fast.
Baron was humming and making a ruckus at her feet and she mentally shushed him as Dmitri spoke again. Elysia actually laughed slightly. “No I didn’t forget your occupation darling. You where the one who commented on not being able to bare this night sober. Is my company really that distasteful?” She put a hand on her breast and sighed. “I’m hurt.” Her eyes gave away that she was joking however and she picked up her fork to take a bite of her salad. It was surprising but she really was hungry despite having snacked before she left. Idly she picked at her food as the harper spoke again. “You’ve been taught?” Yes the greenrider had caught the noncommittal version of his answer. This was her way of prodding for further answers. Seemed as if he planned to pass the night being intentional vague. Sigh. Maybe she should just start forming her questions differently.
Before that thought could fully take form she was overcome with a staggering hunger and she actually choked on the piece of fish she was eating. Swallowing it with difficulty, Elysia felt a tiny prick of pain in her ankle and heard a creel. Flinching she looked down to meet the eyes of a baby brown flitter, hide still covered in egg goop. Oh what a lovely wonderful gold his was. He hated to interrupt but he was oh so horribly hungry. Would his mother please feed him? He was so sorry if he upset her. Please feed him? He punctuated his mental images with a whine and opened his mouth wide. Gasping softly, Elysia bent down and gathered up the tiny creature in her hands. “Oh you poor darling. I am so sorry.” She soothed quietly. For the moment Dmitri was totally ignored and a softness came over her body and face. Grabbing a handkerchief from the table she placed the damp flit on the table and caressed him with it. Wiping off the wet goop. “Poor love. Here.” She cooed before picking up a piece of her fish and popping it into his open mouth. As she silently reminded him to chew she looked him over.
Content that he was okay she turned her attention back to her companion, her face resuming it’s aloof mask. “I am sorry for that. Seems as if I should pay more attention to my pets.” Baron fluttered onto the table and chirped at the newcomer before rubbing his head against his bonded’s arm. See how nice she was? The baby would understand he was sure. Elysia smiled softly and stroked the older flit as she continued to feed her newest little brown. Dark eyes going to Dmitri she considered him for a moment. He had caught her in an open moment. That might come back to bite her. Damn it.

He got to decide, did he? The mild expression broadened to a full grin, the amusement rife in his grey eyes and adding a vitality to his face that was usually absent. Elysia did realize what a mistake that was, didn't she? He could claim anything as payment, then - like a promise to keep out of his hair for the interminable future. And for only five marks. A most profitable investment. Dmitri reserved that little gem for a more opportune time, however, so that he could savor it properly. Despite himself, he was finding that he was rather enjoying the woman's company - or at least their game of stubbornness and wits. It was rare to find anyone who could match him sufficiently enough to keep his interest for more than a few moments.
"Am I supposed to find the company of my stalker enjoyable?" he retorted, inflectionless. His lips twitched slightly. "Though you give me far too much credit. I could never hurt the ice queen, I'm quite certain. It would take quite the man to manage that one, and I don't even qualify as a man." Teasing? Definitely, though there was enough of truth behind the words to make it very much his typical, dry sarcasm. Not learning at all, was she? No, not at all. "Yes." He'd been taught. He lifted a brow, gesturing to her with a flick of his fingers. Try again. Certain sounds drew his attention, then, as he realized that her egg was hatching, and he watched in rather mute fascination as she transformed directly in front of him.
Eyes half-lidded, he leaned back in his seat, chewing a forkful of greens rather thoughtfully. A faint, amused chuckle emerged at her rather interesting look. Was that guilt or suspicion behind her dark eyes, that made them spark like that? "I'm well aware of how many pets you have," he commented, with no small amount of amusement. What was she trying to hide? He'd waited outside the egg stall, ever so bored. His short term memory wasn't so bad as all that. "Seems the ice queen has something of a heart after all, no? So then, what do you plan on calling him, hm?"
Gesturing slightly with his fork, he chose to throw her a bone, and added, "I learned at Harper Hall, for the purpose of entertaining Lordholders, Ely - I do hope you won't choose to skin me for shortening your name? - so I think I can manage not to embarrass you in a provincial Hold on the edge of nowhere. Or, at least, I should hope as much." He smiled crookedly, returning to his soup.

Elysia had been mildly aware of the grin Dmitri had given when she had told him he could decide how she could repay him. It was a mistake. She would probably regret it later but she was confident she could find a way out of it when the time came. For now she was very much into her new pet. Continuing to feed him she debated the words of her human companion. Ice queen hmm? It was a good description of her and really Demi couldn’t hurt her. Not now and not ever she silently vowed. Raising her head she smiled and offered her brown some more fish. As he ravenously devoured his meal she turned her attention to the harper again. Had a heart? Who her? He was mistaken clearly. Smiling slightly she titled her head.
“A heart me? Really Dmitri your eyes must be playing tricks on you. It must be the wine.” She quipped. Oh she was very much aware that the particular vintage he had chosen was weak and he hadn’t even had enough to make him even close to tipsy. The comment was more to contradict him than anything. Her a heart? She was not about to admit that to a living person. Admitting you weaknesses made them horribly real after all. It was far easier to delude yourself. Onyth and her flitters where one of her weaknesses and she was determined to keep them safe. That was why she kept them all so close. It was harder to hurt something if she was protecting it. To that end she actually scooped her new brown flitter up when he made a leap for the handler.
“Now now little love he doesn’t want you.” She chided softly. The brown chirped and turned his whirling eyes up to her. Little love? Was that his name? He liked it he did! Chuckling softly Elysia transferred him to her shoulder. “He likes the name love so I think I will call him Amour. It sounds better.” Amour? The brown considered that with a yawn and then purred happily before rubbing himself against her neck. Amour meant love. Yes he liked that very much. “Amour it is then. She said drawing her hand down his back as he yawned and curled up on her shoulder. New flit on his way to dreamland she returned her attention to her companion with a apologetic look. The shortening of her name earned an eyebrow raise. “Ely hmm? Well then you shall be called Demi from now on. Fair is fair love.” She said sweetly taking a bite of her salad. “Ely. I kind of like it. But you better hope it doesn’t catch on because then I will skin you. As of now you are the only one with the express pleasure of using a shortened name. You should feel special.” Her eyes danced merrily.
So he was feeling a bit generous hmm? He had went ahead and told her he had been taught for the purpose of entertaining lord holders. Sweet of him. However she wasn’t about to go believing he had done it ‘just’ to be nice. Even if that was part of it he likely had an angle there somewhere. If he thought he was going to embarrass her on the dance floor he was sadly mistaken. The greenrider was positive she could hold her own. “Well good then. You’ll have to show me just what your capable of later.” She continued her meal in relative silence, the hatching of the flit giving her an appetite that she had previously lacked. Baron helped her finish some of it as well, despite the fact that she had fed the little glutton a few hours before they left. Pushing her food away she set her chin on her hands and watched Dmitri as if examining him. Idly she wondered how long it would take him to feel uncomfortable. She smiled slightly at that thought and tilted her head, letting her dark hair spill over her opposite shoulder.

Dmitri indulged himself in a slow, knowing smile in response to her claim, not bothering to argue with it. Her half-glare at him after treating the hatchling so tenderly said enough that she already knew, and he didn't have to contradict it. The harper sipped at his wine again, eating at a much more sedate pace than the greenrider across the table from him. Even though he was somewhat ravenous, seeing as how he hadn't eaten since the wee hours of the morning, the harper didn't make a habit of scarfing food. His eating habits were pretty good, actually, which made up for his not being the most physical entity; though he certainly wasn't idle, either. Dmisk preferred to spend the nights skulking through the surrounding jungles.
Amour, huh? There was a visible twitch at the nickname she produced for him in response, solely because everyone seemed to shorten his name to that. Even without hearing anyone else do it. Bit of a cutesy name, Demi, but he supposed that he was still young enough compared to most people that it was natural. He supposed. Anyway, protesting it wasn't likely to yield the result he wanted, so he took it in stride. (He had chosen to call her Ely, after all, so in that sense he was definitely asking for it.)
He rolled his eyes openly at her threat, taking a spooful of his soup. "As if Dmisk would let you...though you're free to take on a territorial wher if you really want to." Truthfully, though, he didn't really care to give anyone else the idea of using that nickname. There was almost something possessive about using a name that familiar, which gave him a leg up on the greenrider regardless; Eikane and Raebeli both used the name 'Demi' with a good deal of regularity. He couldn't recall if Nautic did or not, but was sure he would soon enough, considering who he was spending all his time with these days. "Just about as 'special' as I felt when you claimed me as your captive for a night. Figures. You'd go and Impress now. That blue wanted you, too. Tch."
Dmitri's smirk didn't show the flicker of doubt in the back of his mind as to the wisdom of admitting he could dance. The game he was playing, though somewhat undefined, definitely didn't include falling prey to Elysia. And while he had no trouble handling her at a distance, having her close could be another matter entirely...well, nothing was going to happen here, if nothing else, and he refused to worry about it now. In all likelihood it wouldn't be a problem. She wasn't the first attractive woman he'd danced with, after all.
Separating some wherry meat from the bone, he didn't look up until he'd gotten a slice into his mouth, glancing up at her with a trace of amusement on his face. "I promise you're not going to find any secret code to bedding me written on my forehead." A flick of his fork at her, and he went back to munching on his salad. Swallowed, reached for the wine glass. "Though if you're determined to try, that's your prerogative. More wine?"

Half closing her eyes Elysia continued to watch Dmitri eat from underneath her lashes. Ely. He was going to call her Ely now. Part of her had wanted to refuse him the pleasure but well, if she was going to let anyone use a nickname for her it might as well be her current plaything. Although really she couldn’t count the harper as her plaything. He wasn’t a toy. He was more of a…brat. Smiling at that thought she finished her glass of wine just as he commented about a possessive wher. “Which reminds me. I have never really been introduced to your wher formally. I saw him at your lovely gold’s hatching but that was hardly an introduction. Considering the circumstances.”
The greenrider winked at her ‘date’ before trailing a finger around the edge of her empty wine glass. “Oh come off it you know he was more interested in that candidate than me. He just couldn’t resist coming closer to see my beauty. Besides you wanted to lose. I could tell.” The tone Elysia spoke in was completely factual and it was hard to read her expression as well. Was she being serious or not? She left it up to the harper to decide.
The benden woman’s eyebrow did raise however at his next comment and she actually laughed. “Oh Demi darling. I hardly need a secret code to figure out how to bed you.” Silly boy. Elysia didn’t need a code because she was already completely positive that she could have Dmitri when and where she chose. But let him think he had the upper hand there. It would be amusing to watch him cave. A slow smile spread across her face and she purred. “Oh don’t worry darling when I do decide to try there will be no mistake.” She leaned forward towards him as he reached for the wine glass and briefly brushed her hand against his. “Yes please. If I have to wait for you to finish I’d rather have something to drink while I am entertained.” Her tone was light and teasing and as she straightened up Baron gave a chirp. The darker brown flared his wings in alarm. Baby was falling!
True to his warning Amour had slid forward and slipped off her shoulder. Elysia’s hand shot out barely catching the new baby brown by the tail as he tumbled towards the ground. Tsking softly at herself she cradled the tiny thing who had not even twitched a muscle through the entire thing. “Sorry little love.” She murmured to the brown as she reached down to pick up the basket his egg had come in. The greenrider busied herself with picking out the bits of shell occasionally shooting Demi a glance. Content that the basket was clean enough she tucked the small flitter into it.
“I’ll have to drop him off by Onyth before we head to the dance floor. I don’t want to be carrying him the whole time and she wants to see him anyway.” Tapping her finger against the side of the basket the rider picked up her refilled wine glass and sipped at it. “Is there anywhere you want to go after your done Demi? I’d like to let my food settle a bit.” See she could be nice occasionally to.

"You're not missing much," he responded simply, leaning forward to retrieve her glass and refill it. "Dmisk isn't very social. Doesn't like to be touched. And if he's not impressed he's likely to curl up right where he is and fall asleep on you. Aside from me, he's warmed a little to his clutchsisters, but that's about it." A mild shrug. To be honest, Dmisk was probably one of the reasons Dmitri wasn't bouncing all over the place like he used to. There was a time where he'd been nearly as energetic as Nautic usually was, but that seemed forever ago. In fact, life before Dmisk seemed like another life entirely.
He smirked slightly at Elysia once he'd resettled in his seat, however. So what if he was deliberately ignoring some of her other statements, drawing it out a little? She certainly seemed to be enjoying herself regardless. "A desire to lose? You forget the conditions of my winning," he commented quietly. "Now I'll just have to find another way." Which she'd already given him. He wondered, again, if she quite realized that, but wasn't about to tell her if she hadn't. That would be a fun card to play later on, yes. "Think you've got me cornered already," he mused softly, not bothering to mask the amusement in his voice. An amusement mirrored in his eyes as he watched how lovingly she handled the brown that had just fallen off her shoulder. You'd think a northern dragonrider would know better than to reveal weakness - softness - so early. Arrogant? Or disarmed? Or maybe just playing the game from a new angle...hm.
He didn't reveal the mild distaste at mention of returning to Onyth. Dmitri wasn't...fond...of dragons. He tolerated the ones of his friends and that was about it, really. Fort Weyr bore nothing but disquieting memories for him, what he remembered of it, the most recent being showing up just in time for his mother to die giving birth to some other child and not recognizing him. Though admittedly the most disquieting part of that last encounter was how little it had mattered to him, singing her softly to her death. Cold inside. He remembered the dragon wars all too vividly, the screams of his grandmother trapped inside as the eaves dripped flame...remembered the hatred of the Fort dragonriders and the harpers closing ranks around him protectively when he'd finally been allowed outside the walls of Harper Hall. More recently, the attack on Selenitas. A reminder every time he met a reflexive surface or he clumsily made a mistake with his left hand, trying to do what he no longer could with his right. It all added together into something that was less hatred and prejudice, less fear or bias, than simple cold distaste for the creatures. He didn't think he could ever like them.
Dmitri finished mopping up the rest of the soup from the bowl with the last of the fried dough, licking the drops from his fingers absently, before her words drew his attention again, the harper blinking for a moment in muted surprise (as if he'd completely forgotten her presence) his finger still in his mouth. It came out with an audible pop. "Me? Hadn't really thought about it." He speared the remaining vegetables on his fork, most of the awkwardness of feeding himself left-handed worked out after months of doing so. Still, you could tell it wasn't quite natural if you were paying attention. "I suppose I should get an actual knife that's good for more than just filleting fish. If only because something more utilitarian would be better for the patrols Dmisk insists on." That wasn't to say he meant to use it to fight. The slender thing wasn't much good for cutting into leather or through rope, though, and there could be occasions when he needed something sturdier.
"That and maybe check to see if there are any instruments worth a half-mark at this gather." His tone made it clear he highly doubted it. The harper presence in the south was...pitiful at best. The last of his food finished, he gathered up the dishes, setting them on the growing stack by the stall and walking over to offer Elysia a hand up.

Elysia sipped on her wine as she listened to Dmitri talk. Dmisk did sound like he might be a bit cold but probably not to his handler. “Well then I will just have to try my hardest to impress him won’t I?” She drawled in a lazy tone. Dmisk was probably the earth to Dmitri’s fire. Much like Onyth was her grounding point. Interesting how that always worked out. The rider settled for watching her date move. He certainly was doing a good job of playing the perfect gentlemen wasn’t he. Had to wonder if there was a motive behind that.
Hmm. She swirled the wine as he made another comment her eyes taking on a playful narrow. Oh yes his lovely condition was not forgotten. Surely he wasn’t planning on still trying to get rid of her? Silly man. He didn’t have any clue who he was messing with. Chuckling softly she took one last sip and then set the glass down. Enough of that. Drawing her finger tip around the rim again she shifted her legs and re crossed them. “Perhaps darling. I am a master predator.” Arrogant statement to be sure, but it was more playful than anything else. Feline and her prey. Playing was the fun part before the kill.
His quietness was not very surprising considering how they first started out. Him barely saying even a word. Grunting to convey his interests like some animal. Hmm. Had to wonder if the sudden silence was to try and unravel her. Without a word she turned back to her flits and Baron fluttered to land on her shoulder with a trill. The pop drew Elysia’s attention back to Dmitri and she smiled. “Manners darling.” She said softy her tone containing no disproval despite the apparent scolding. The surprised look on his face was taken in stride. Oh he was being so bratty. As if he had really forgotten her presence. He knew just how to try and push her buttons didn’t he? That was bothersome. She was letting too much slip. Needed to fix it. Drawing her gaze back to him as he spoke she nodded. “Yes a good knife would be helpful.” There was no further comment from the rider and she almost rose herself when she noticed him moving towards her. Still the gentlemen. Interesting. Allowing him to help her rise, she intentionally kept a grip on his arm and slid her own arm through his. Much better.
Tugging on him gently she started to lead him back towards Onyth. “Need to drop off the flit and then we can visit your stalls.” The trip to Onyth was extremely quiet and it gave Elysia time to think. Yes she was quite enjoying her date especially the battle of wills. But the quietness wasn’t good. It would only produce plotting more than likely. To try and deter some of that she intentionally bumped her hip against his every once in awhile as they walked, lengthening her stride to force them to hurry.
As they approached the green she opened one whirling eye and gave a soft croon. Laying the basket down Elysia drew one hand over the dragon’s eye ridge in a brief stoke. Turning to Demi she fixed him with a sly look. “The night is young Demi love. Where shall we go first? We could always skip the rest and go home ~” Oh yes. She laced her tone with just enough suggestion to make her latter option clear. If they went home it did not signal an end to his torture. It would probably only make it worse.

A master predator, huh? Well, he wouldn't really argue with that one...no doubt he was the latest in a long queue. Which begged the question of whether or not she actually liked things as they were. Of course the hunt would be exhilarating, particularly if it drew out, but what about when you won? Admittedly, he had next to no experience, but it had to be somewhat anticlimatic. Brief sense of victory at the end and then...what? Everything you'd been working toward no longer mattered because you had what you were after. Which was victory, not the person, or she wouldn't be hopping from one to the next to the next. Dmitri was in something of a mood (most likely brought on by the suggestion of dragons) and wondered if it wouldn't just be simpler to give in, give up, and get it overwith. That would kill the interest real quick.
Oddly enough, though, what had started out as a simple perversity - Dmitri often did things just to be a pain in the arse and go against what someone else was working toward, enjoying the mental games if the opponent proved challenging -was now shifting into curiosity. A curiosity that wasn't entirely destroyed by his mulling. In fact, he found his mind wandering to the woman pressed against his side in lieu of the sobering chain of thought regarding dragons. Elysia was a woman of too many contradictions to just dismiss out of hand. It would be rather difficult to satisfy that curiosity if he played into her hands and she then discarded him, bored, now wouldn't it? This wasn't something Dmitri was experienced at, however...this game of toeing the line, keeping her interested and just frustrated enough to keep at it, without becoming fed up and giving up entirely. Despite the face he was presenting her, Dmitri was very uneasy about the whole situation. And not just because he felt like a fish out of water, either...he didn't know if he was strong enough to resist her. Not when he was finding himself more and more interested.
Not that he was daft enough to let Elysia ever see his hesitation or uncertainty. She'd take advantage of that in an instant.
No, his unease didn't reach his face at all as the boy snorted, hand coiling around her bicep and drawing her with him back toward the stalls. First thing's first, don't let her call all the shots. "You'd enjoy that far too much, greenrider," he commented dryly. "I think the knife would be a wise first choice," he added, eyes flicking toward Elysia. "What with the master hunter shadowing me." Perhaps it was a little abrupt, but he hoped that the frequent changes in behavior would keep her shaken up and guessing. Dmitri's arm coiled around her shoulders, pulling her in against him briefly as his voice lowered. "Besides, you promised me a dance. Going to back out on me already? Losing your touch, I think. Or maybe you just dipped too young and aren't used to my generation; we're harder to reel in."
Blowing smoke, but who cared? She didn't like being reminded of her age and he'd use whatever advantage he had. The arm slipped away, and Dmitri put distance back between them, forcing her to come to him if she wanted to renew the physical contact. His hands slipped into his pockets to further widen the gulf. Sidling up to the weapons stall, he leaned against it, eyes flicking over the array of weaponry. His nose wrinkled slightly. "What do you think, Ely? That one going to keep me safe tonight?" he questioned her teasingly, nodding toward a well-made belt knife. Couldn't fight, but Dmitri did know quality when he saw it. Usually.

Elysia tsked lightly as she waited for Dmitri to make a decision. Onyth rumbled in amusement. You are having fun with him. It is amusing to me. I wonder when you will tire of this one? You are keeping him longer than normal. Especially considering you haven’t even flown him yet. Titling her head she regarded the handler with a placid blue gaze.
The greenrider turned and winked at her dragon. He is fun darling. Although very bratty. The dark green tilted her head the opposite way at that and crooned just as the man moved to snag her rider’s arm. I will watch the little brothers. Have fun with your brat. A draconic chuckle followed that as Elysia allowed Dmitri to drag her away with a final wave to Onyth. Very amusing. The dragon mused to the flits as she flicked her tail tip to wind it about the basket. She gave a croon to Baron as he alighted on her head and curled up with a sigh. Theirs was sometimes silly yes.
As benden rider allowed the harper to drag her away a sly smile flitted across her face. Demanding suddenly wasn’t he? One would think he was trying to hide the fact that he was enjoying his time with her. With a muffled chuckle she listened to him speak. Enjoy it too much? She surely would. Especially teaching him just what she could do and watching him beg her for it. The comment about the knife caused her to raise her own eyebrow and Elysia purred in response, in true feline fashion, as his eyes flicked towards hers.
“Better make sure it’s a good one darling. If you seek to keep me away it better be an very impressive weapon. I don’t get scared.” Her voice lowered to a husky playful purr. Then they stopped suddenly and she was pulled up against Dmitri. Her eyebrows raised to her hairline and she took a sudden intake of breath. The move had caught her entirely unprepared. The greenrider hadn’t expected such from him. She half lidded her eyes in response, for the moment enjoying the contact. Brat. He was clearly attempting to get the upper hand.
“Oh I’d never back out of a chance to show you a thing or two Demi darling.” She purred in response to his dancing comment relaxing her body to press it to every line of his shamelessly. Then Elysia stiffened and pulled slightly away with a irritated growl. Again with the age comments. The harper had done that on purpose she knew, and it was probably a mistake to show him that it irked her. She could always use it as a way to refuse him something later when he really wanted it. Oh her time would come. She would let him think he was in control for now. It would be amusing later to watch him lose it. Elysia narrowed her eyes at Dmitri as he pulled away but decided to follow him in his trip towards the stall. If he sought to lose her it wouldn’t be as easy as a simple comment about his age in comparison to hers.
Striding after him she put enough sway into her hips to gain a few looks from passerby. If she gave them flirtatious looks in return it was only her date’s fault for being so ridged. Whether it would bother him or not she wasn’t sure but she was willing to give it a try. Ely? Oh she was being called. Striding right up to the stall she leaned down and examined the knife. Giving a flirtatious look to the stall keeper the rider reached over and snagged the knife. Testing it’s balance she grinned and half turned back to Demi.
“Keep you safe tonight Demi love? I suppose so if you learned how to use it. It’s well made. Not to heavy not to light.” Her eyes perused the rest of the goods and she tsked lightly before leaning towards the man again. “Tell me. Where do you get your whips from and what leather do you use?” She winked before turning back to the leaning harper and offering him the blade hilt first. “Here. Try it yourself. Tell me how it feels to you.” She raised an eyebrow then. “You have handled a fighting blade before haven’t you?”
