Haaaah...so that was it. Dy let out a snort of laughter brought on by both amusement and relief that there was at least a somewhat reasonable reason for the banishment. "Is that so? Fear not, I'm certain you've created a couple other evil rebels that will carry on for you now that you're gone. You'll have almost reached martyr status among them!" he was, of course, only kidding. He hoped. He hadn't seen any of the kids in a while so he couldn't say for sure they hadn't been getting themselves into trouble.
"Haha, yes, yes, I'll bring a change of clothes. Mother hen," he said laughingly, though the last part came out muttered. The bluerider let his friend pull him along, shaking his head slightly. "How you manage it at all amazes me." He didn't mind listening to troubles or the like but simple gossip? He had no interest in butting into the lives of people he hadn't even met. Besides, it was all quite boring. So and so got together, or so and so broke up. Meh.
The bluerider followed X'rx to his weyr to let him collect what he needed before going to his own and digging around for decent warm stuff. He winced as he found a rediculously baggy green-yellow sweater, though at least the light grey pants fit okay. He drapped them both around his neck before snatching a towel. Once he was ready he went and took the lead. It was quite obvious that he was excited. When they got back to the river Dy'shi spent a moment simply looking at it. "Well, there's only really only one way to go about it!" He exclaimed, stripping off his shirt and dashing into the water. Whee!

X'rx merely laughed and shook his head at Dy'shi. "Whatever have I done? I must make penance for my heinous crimes." Which was about the extent of the greenrider's 'special' vocabulary which he reserved for times of great need. I.e. when making jokes where the words would make him sound self-important. You know, being the leader of a great coup and all.
There was a decidedly wicked turn to the greenrider's lips, although at least he didn't actually say the response that came to mind. Sadi's gossip was tolerable in small amounts in light of her...eagerness. X'rx rarely turned down invitations from willing girls so long as they were on friendly terms. Guys he tended to be more picky about. "Never underestimate the training of being raised by a kitchen staff of drudges. Almost everything in there is gossip."
For a moment X'rx thought that Dy'shi would lose his nerve. He certainly was staring at the river long enough. But then the teen was racing for the water and the greenrider grinned. Time for some fun. He dropped his own shirt and plunged in after Dy'shi, letting out a small cry when the cool water slapped his skin. It was an invigorating feeling, though.
Soon he was sending splashes Dy'shi's way and ducking behind a rock to avoid retaliation. This had to be better than listening to Sadi drone on all day about Biena, Jushlian and Carstlin.

"Oh man, gossip day in and day out...what a nightmare," Dy'shi commented, a grimace on his face. He had a new, if odd, respect for his friend. He'd been in the kitchens for chores before but it wasn't what he preferred to do as chores so he usually picked something else. It had also saved him from all that gossip, thankfully. One person gossipping had to be much less annoying than a whole kitchen of them. In that case, X'rx's tolerance made a lot of sense.
Dy'shi didn't bother to feel embarrassed for his own surprised reaction to the cold water. There was really no need for it when X'rx exclaimed too. Soon enough the two were involved in an all out splash war, though Dy'shi was at a disadvantage because X'rx was able to duck in behind a rock to avoid a large majority of Dy's splashes. Oh no he didn't! The bluerider wouldn't tolerate being so completely overwhelmed.
Shielding his eyes as best he could, he approached the rock as quickly as possible before clambering up on it best he could. A "hah!" followed by the sound of gagging on the water he'd just had splashed into his mouth accompanied the boy's pounce on his friend. "I gotcha!" No more hiding behind the rock! He'd gotten the evil rebel leader, hahahaha! For all his occasional maturity, Dy'shi really was still just a kid.

He was completely winning this one. Well, almost completely. X'rx kept on gettin caught by the occasional splash, but all in all he was practically crowing - if silently - with his victory already. That was, until he realized that Dy'shi was making headway toward the rock. X'rx renewed his splashes to defend his shield, but it was in vain. The bluerider managed to clamber on.
A particularly well-placed splash caught the boy directly in the mouth. It didn't stop Dy'shi from pouncing the greenrider though, and X'rx went under in a froth of bubbles and a startled yelp. He came up spluttering, shaking the sodden hair out of his eyes. Battle one goes to Dy'shi, but now he was well within the evil rebel leader's grasp. The bluerider would rue the day...
X'rx launched himself at Dy'shi, seeking to wrap himself around the boy so that he couldn't use his arms. No amount of squirming could save him now! Unless you counted the hard skull that nearly caught him in the face, forcing the greenrider to fall back and release the bluerider briefly. It didn't keep X'rx from attempting to pounce and pin Dy'shi again, though. No sir.

Dy'shi was glowing with the success of beating X'rx at his own game. See, see, he could do it too! No silly rock in his way was going to stop Lord Dy'shi from conquering his friend in a splash war. In fact, no one could stop him now...except perhaps the evil rebel himself. Over-confident with his small win, the boy wasn't expecting X'rx's quick retalliation. "Ack!" He exclaimed as he was grabbed.
No! He refused to be caught so easily! He wiggled with all his might in the greenrider's grasp. He wasn't entirely sure what he did but he managed to get X'rx to release him. Dy moved to put space between him and the threat the evil rebel leader provided but he wasn't fast enough. He yelped again when his friend caught him, though it was less out of surprise and more because he'd lost his balance.
The boy closed his eyes and took in a quick breath before falling face first into the water. At least he'd been able to see the water rushing to meet him as he fell until he'd closed his eyes of course. Haha, so that round went to X'rx. Did that mean they were going into a tiebreaker round? Awesome!

That was somewhat successful. X'rx was quick to back off when Dy'shi went under, making sure the boy's head broke the surface again fairly quickly. Didn't want to hurt the kid, after all. In truth...X'rx had three younger siblings. Only one was a brother, though, and he'd left turns ago to get healer training. The greenrider missed rough-housing with him. (Even if he'd never been terribly interested in the whole thing.)
Dy'shi was up again fairly quickly and X'rx shot him a cheeky smile. "Think you can catch me, slowpoke?" With that, the greenrider lunged forward, striking out against the current strongly. He didn't want the bluerider having any chance of catching him too early. That just wouldn't be any fun, would it? A glance was spared over his shoulder to make sure that Dy was as strong a swimmer as he seemed. Once satisfied, though, he concentrated only on the route ahead.
The current was fairly quick here, but there were no rocks or other debris to snag on, and it wasn't so fast that you were in danger of being swept toward the falls unless you just let the river carry you apathetically. X'rx let his pace slow gradually, giving way to the ache in his muscles and also making it easier for Dy'shi to catch him. The boy was smaller and while that didn't effect speed much, it could make it harder for him to keep up when moving against the current.
