He knew that it was unlike they young green would remember, but Tobby couldn't help it. "My name's Tobby." He told the dragon with a smile before he threw up his arms to protect his face. It didn't help. The wave that X'rx made hit him full force and Tobby let out a loud giggle as he stumbled back toward G'tor. There was not one speck of clothing or skin on him that was not dripping wet. In fact, Tobby wasn't really all that sure that he could get wetter.
Ruskeath proved that wrong. The huge tidal wave caused by the brown sent Tobby reeling forward and underwater. He struggled back to his feet, giggling uncontrollably now. It was just too funny! "Oh no, he's turned on us. All hope is lost." The candidate laughed, beaming up at G'tor. What chances did they stand against two dragons and a perfectly capable weyrling? Still, that didn't stop him from sending another splash toward X'rx.

Eveyth's happy response to Ruskeath joining in with them was all the warning X'rx received before a gargantuan wave washed over G'tor, Tobby...and him as well. He spluttered, surfacing and coughing just a bit to clear his lungs. Goodness. What a wave. He was so distracted by the first that Tobby's follow-up caught him full in the teeth, and he snorted water from his nose, fixing the younger boy with a 'death glare' that couldn't conceal the laughter trying to force its way out. "Ever heard the term friendly fire, Ruskeath?" he called, amused.
That was when his beloved girl surfaced beside him, pressing into the back of his legs and snaking her head around his side so she could peer at G'tor. He wants to get me, Mine. Protect me? X'rx half-turned...then jumped, pushing down on her shoulders and causing her to flail just a bit as she was dunked. He quickly squirmed away before she could splash him back, headed toward G'tor and Tobby. "Seems like you already chose a much bigger protector, Ev!"
Oh, no he didn't! Ruskeath...it's now the big strong dragons against the pinkies! And she intended to win, that she did. Eveyth pounced forward playfully, the humans trapped between her and the adult brown.

Ruskeath gave a low dragon chuckle. He hadn't really meant to get X'rx as well, but he should try making anything smaller when he was so big. So it seems, little mistress, he agreed ruefully. Shall we teach them the error of their ways? He raised a wing and sent another wave at the three humans. He could get them very wet, but he was also larger and slower then they were. It was tricky to hit them, especially if they split up.
G'tor grinned at X'rx. "Decided to join us lower mammals, eh?" he asked. He swallowed a deep breath and ducked under Ruskeath's new wave. He'd been ready for it that time. With a quick swim underwater, he emerged a short distance away, closer to the brown's head. With a whoop he slapped water at his dragon's head. "Take that, traitor!" he laughed.

He couldn't help the giggle as he watched X'rx turn and dunk his little green. It was just too silly, this war of water. The candidate splashed back at Eveyth, deciding to take on the smaller target, but was once more knocked off his feet as Ruskeath sent a giant wave rolling their way. Tobby really wasn't that tall of a lad, so the crashing water was a formidable force to him. This time, Tobby didn't struggle against the water and instead let it wash him backwards toward the shore. He came to rest near the shore, sitting amongst the slope of land. Tobby's eyes continued to watch the others in the river, but he was getting tired. Since he had decided not to take his shirt off before their play, Tobby was wearing what he predicted to be a good ten pounds in soggy cloth. It was going to take him all night to dry out anyway.
Suddenly he realized just how cold it was outside of the river. Tobby shivered, smiling widely at the two riders as he rubbed at his shoulders. And now he'd have to walk all the way back to the candidate barracks dripping wet and freezing. Oh well, it'd been worth it. He hadn't this much fun or laughed so much in ages.

Doubleteamed. Eveyth was quick to retaliate, and the other wave caught him completely from behind. Sputtering, he regained his feet and threw his hands up in the air. "You win! I surrender...before you two decide to drown me dead." Flicking a mock frown at G'tor, he added, "Sorry there, wingsecond. Fraid they got me beat." Eveyth took his arm ever so carefully in her teeth and guided him triumphantly toward the bank, declaring to any within range, I have a X'rxMine slave. Rusty! Apparently she'd decided to claim Ruskeath as worthy of renaming, as well. Do you have a Yours slave? What shall we make them do for us?
Mentally prodding for his release, X'rx waded through the shallows, catching the hem of Tobby's shirt and tugging it up over his head with gentle efficiency. He brought his own back, directing quietly, "Arms up. Emoyan will have the poor wingsecond's hide if you come down with a cold, and G'tor's too nice to bother that way, mm?" The young weyrling didn't seem quite so fragile himself without a shirt, even if he could never be mistaken for muscular. Anyway, the south was his home, and wet clothes were colder than bare skin.

Ruskeath shook his head free of water like a soaked canine. He retaliated by curling his tail around G'tor's waste affectionately. I have him, little mistress, he said with a chuckled. Perhaps we should make them clear the mud from our hides? They would probably have to anyway, but it made a fitting punishment. G'tor shoved the tail away playfully and waded back out to the others. "Yeah, you really should count for three or four people, Rusk, you're just too big for this game," he laughed. Ruskeath looked crestfallen. I am? "Oh don't be glum. That doesn't mean you won't still get to play, just don't expect us to play fair."
G'tor collected his own shirt, much to Star's annoyance. "Can't have you sick for the hatchin, can we?" he agreed, though the hatching was still ages off anyway. "We'd have more than candidate masters to deal with then." He shook his hair, sending water over Star, who sent a wave of protesting feelings at them. Where was the fun in getting all wet like that? It was time for food anyway. Ruskeath moved back onto shore, and G'tor eyed him critically. "Do you all want a ride back? Rusk could probably carry Eveyth too." She wasn't too big yet, though that wouldn't last much longer.

Tobby blushed softly as his shirt was tugged over his head. He hadn't been expecting that. The boy blinked up at X'rx, tilting his head lightly in confusion before he opened his mouth to protest. "I can't take your shirt. Won't you get cold?" The candidate asked even as he raised his arms. It'd been drilled in him his entire life that he should listen to riders after all. Still, the idea of taking the weyrling's dry shirt while X'rx had to walk around shirtless didn't sit easy with him.
He looked to G'tor as the brownrider spoke. "The hatching? Oh well..." That would be bad if he was sick for that. Did candidates with colds even Impress? Scary thought. His thoughts were just beginning to drift back to the long walk he had before him, when he was offered a ride. His eyes lit up and he looked back to G'tor with a nod. "Could I get one? Please? It's a long way to the candidate barracks." He glanced between the two riders, his grin growing again.
