Hunger, it was hard not to note that quality to Sel'n's returning kiss and the fire that lingering in the brownrider's gaze afterward. In all truth, Ba'sun had just been playing around – he just couldn't pass up the opportunity and he had been well known for his brand of theatrics. Not that he didn't meant what he had conveyed, but Sel'n's immediate and earnest response was a little surprising. Ba'sun snorted – a sound half a laugh of disdain. Guessed well enough at the kid thing. Ba'sun didn't mind all that much. "Kids is one of those strange things. You never really think about having any, but once you do you wouldn't give them away for anything. I've lost friends and lovers, in this war, too. I can tell you from experience, kids are by far worse. No father should have to bury his own sons. It's.. a hollowing feeling. I regret having kids, but at the same time I can't see my life having gone by without them."
He hummed at his own words, letting them fall into silence occasionally interrupted by the crackle of flame. The somber moment passed quickly, they always did, and Ba'sun turned a subdued smile on to Sel'n. Again his hand lifted, this time to only touch fingers along the back of the Fortian's neck. Almost feather-light in pressure as they traced invisible patterns up and down the exposed skin. "I don't really care to bring the entire weyr down on our heads when something loudly goes up in flames."
His brows rose at Sel'n's paranoid assumption. Ba'sun with drew his hand, using the palm to rest the side of his head as the smile began to grow back into it's former glory. "You're not use to men coming on to you, are you." He chuckled, the sound low and deep in his chest that was turned partially toward his company. "If I was playing with you, it'd be a bit counter-productive. I've nothing to gain by stirring you up and leaving both of us high and dry."
Could have done a few things then, to help persuade his company along, but after a moment of consideration Ba'sun simply laid out the cards on the table. "Come back, with me, to my weyr." His head tilted to one side, dark eyes trailing up Sel'n's expression. "We can put those doubts of yours to rest."

Sel’n sat silently by Ba’sun as the bluerider spoke, his free hand idly trialing though the sand at his side. A soft indecipherable grunt emerged from his lips. “Not sure I’ll ever have that particular feeling then. I might have had kids at Fort. But likely not. In all honesty I can’t be sure if I’ve ever sired any children. Didn’t care to find out I guess.” He had almost sired one here. With Dorava, although it was a complete accident and upon finding out he had tried to sever all ties with it. Then while he was off being an experiment to Fort she had lost the babe. Maybe it was fear that made him not want to go that route ever again or maybe it was something else. But all that aside he couldn’t imagine what it would feel like to burry a child. So he would have to take Ba’sun’s word on this one. In the end children are part of you are they not? In a way created by you certainly. It was interesting to ponder but the older rider tried not to think at length about it. It was a topic that he never lingered on after all.
As the silence dragged onward Sel’n busied himself with tossing a few more scrolls into the fire. It dimly occurred to him that maybe he should have mentioned something in the way of Ba’sun’s loss. However in the end he didn’t know the man well enough to comment and be truthful about it. So the brownrider stayed silent. The feel of fingertips ghosting over the back of his neck brought Sel’n’s attention back to the Benden rider. The hairs on the back of his neck rose in response to the feather light touch as his eyes examined the other curiously. A lightly amused smile danced across his features. “True enough. No need to intentionally give ourselves away I guess. Not like we won’t be found out eventually anyway. Should enjoy the time we have left.” His words trialed off into silence and Sel’n made no move to avoid the touch of the man beside him. In all honesty he didn’t mind it. It was almost comforting in a way.
He caught the raising of Ba’sun’s eyebrows but didn’t comment. Instead Sel’n merely gave a soft grunt at the words spoken. In all honesty? No he wasn’t used to it. Normally he was the one pursuing and so this was all a bit out of his realm. Not that he really minded it but as a rule the brownrider erred on the side of caution. He lived as a pessimist. Had for awhile and although improvements had been made old habits died very hard. Still what Ba’sun said was true. In the end he did have little to gain that way. The offer came as a bit of a surprise and for a moment Sel’n simply stared at the rider beside him before smiling lightly. “Better make it worth the trip. Kaaoloth isn’t a morning person.” Reaching forward he playfully tapped the bluerider in the back of the head and grabbing the wine bottle rose to his feet.
A quick check to see which bottle it was before he lightly tossed it into the fire. Was crap anyway. Turning back to grin at Ba’sun he commented. “Bring the good stuff, we can toast everything else upon take off.” After commenting Sel’n picked the riding straps up off the sand, wondering if they where even necessary. Grumbling the brown was before the thought even finished. You drag me here to play guard dog against felines and now I get to be transportation for drunks as well? You don’t even know this one. You’re not a teenager anymore. You are supposed to think before you act now. Rolling his eyes Sel’n lightly smacked the leather straps against his leg . Save it for someone who will listen you overgrown mother hen. Besides if you are going to complain you should learn to mean what you say. I can see through it you know. Snorting the brown raised his head from the sand and then rose awkwardly to all three feet, shaking the sand from his form before hopping awkwardly towards the fire and the two men.
As Sel’n fixed the leather straps to his dragon Kaaoloth regarded Ba’sun with placidly whirling eyes. Kind of scrawny isn’t he? Chuckling softly the brownrider turned back to his companion. “After you.” Patting the neck beside him in silent gesture Sel’n stepped back and the brown awkwardly crouched, flaring wide one wing for balance. Hurry. Was the single word he offered Ba’sun, the tone no nonsense. This wasn’t easy for one with only one front leg.

Ba'sun's brows peaked together as the tap to the back of his head passed by, the words before that even stranger. The bluerider didn't really know what to make of them, but after a second or two of following Sel'n's rising form with funny looks, Ba'sun snorted. The next instant he was on his feet, brushing away the sand from his backside. "The confidence isn't a charade." His hand dropped low, reaching over to swipe across Sel'n's rear to helpfully clean off some of the sand. A teasing smile twisting on his lips, "I've a new name for you - Rusty."
Bound to turn a man or woman off by that single condescending comment, but Ba'sun was more inclined to tease than becoming offended. He corked the bottle, watching Kaaoloth lower himself to be mounted. Ekarth probably could have come and fetched him, but a blue dragon leaving his weyr would only further alert those watching that Ba'sun was where he wasn't suppose to be. The hand raised to Sel'n's mid back, the grin stretching, "Age before beauty."
A sweeping gesture with his other hand, but knowing the three legged dragon probably did have a hard time balancing in that fashion, Ba'sun moved forward. If it was strange to mount another's dragons, Ba'sun didn't seem to show that unease. He sat, extending an arm to help Sel'n up..
The trip was done in relative silence, aside from the occasional wandering hand on Ba'sun's part. The wine was transferred to Sel'n's hands along the way. When again their feet touched the stone, Ba'sun wasted no time in drawing the slightly taller man's head down in a kiss. Not as wild as the first; this one more drawn out and with the purpose of keeping the Fortian's attention. He took a shuffling step toward the doorway leading into the hall, parting from Sel'n along the way. "My weyr isn't far."
Ba'sun traveled a few more steps backwards, watching Sel'n for a response before twirling back forward (clearly not all that hindered by the wine yet) and leading the way.

Sel’n barely resisted stiffening as Ba’sun’s hand brushed over his rear. A half smile quirked up the corner of his lip and he raised one eyebrow but stayed silent. At least until he was given a new nickname. Rusty? Kaaoloth rumbled in immediate laughter. Oh I liiiiike him I think. Rusty… Another rumble was given, the large brown’s eyes whirling in colorful amused shades. Traitor. Oh hush now. It’s better than Fussypants. I quite like Rusty. The dragon gave another amused rumble.
“You’re too kind.” The brownrider commented dryly to Ba’sun but there was a bit of amusement present in the gaze he levered on the other. “Rusty hm? Does this mean I get to keep calling you Mutt?” The age before beauty comment had him chuckling but he otherwise kept silent, instead watching the other mount. He certainly seemed to have no problem in riding Kaaoloth. Quit gawking and get up here please. I don’t have all night and if I fall over and embarrass myself I’m blaming you for the rest of my life. Rolling his eyes at the dragon Sel’n tossed the entire bag and it’s remaining scrolls into the fire before gripping Ba’sun’s arm and hoisting himself into place on his brown.
Without so much as a warning the brown sprung skyward his large wings quickly taking them towards the weyr. Momentarily Sel’n though back to the fire and whether or not they should have put it out before they left. But thoughts on that subject promptly fled his mind as he felt Ba’sun’s hand start to wander… Before long Kaaoloth was back winging to a stop on his ledge, the brown snorting softly as the first rider left this back. He hopped a step forward then to jostle Sel’n.
Hurry up. I want to properly doze. You are spending the night yes? Scratch that you are. Have fun. Don’t be a nervous idiot and for Faranth’s sake try and enjoy yourself for once. Please. Before the brownrider could come up with a proper response his head was seized and Sel’n for once was only too happy to ignore Kaaoloth. Before the brownrider’s arms could come up to stop the bluerider he was leaving, and Sel’n watched him with undisguised interest. A nudge was given his back by a very large snout. Go. Without another word the large dragon curled up on his ledge and lidded his whirling eyes.
This left Sel’n alone with his mutt and he had no complaints. With an easy smile he followed Ba’sun. For a few minutes he was silent simply enjoying the view the other man presented before speaking again. “Not far is probably a good thing. Do you think he knows you where M.I.A?” True to the other’s word it was not long before they reached their destination and Sel’n quietly slipped into the darkened weyr behind Ba’sun. Perhaps the move was a bit stupid. Entering completely unknown territory in the dark, with a man he had only just met no less. It had the brownrider feeling almost like he was walking into a spider’s web intentionally. But in all honesty who could blame him? All things considered Mutt made a quite attractive and desirable spider.

Seln's question was quickly answered as they stepped into the weyr. The hiss of a lizard reaching their ears. Where go? Rider not allowed go. Tell now, maybe forgive. Lilitu sat on the edge of the counter, curling her tail tightly around her feet as she eyed both riders. Ba'sun hummed quietly, closing the door behind them and slipping around Sel'n to make a grab for the green-black creature. He caught her tail, inciting a chorus of hisses and curses. Her jaws chewed viciously at this pinching thumb.
"Feel free to make yourself comfortable," Ba'sun gestured to the weyr. "I'll take care of this little problem." He lifted the squirming Lilitu to eye level. You hurt you DIE, know stupidcock? Release. Now. "How about I make you a deal, demon?" Release. "No, that's not how it works.. see.. if you be quiet for the night, I won't tell Lixy your let me sneak out under your watch." Lilitu stilled, removing her blood smeared jaws from his fingers. You lie. "No, no, honest truth. In fact, if you stay quiet.. I'll tell you were I was in the morning."
The next moment a hiss sounded and Ba'sun was setting a holed jar on the floor next to his dresser. Sweet silence afterward. Ba'sun leaned against the wooden furniture, swiping his fingers through a small pouch, smaller than even a coin purse, then casually rubbed the same finger along the side of his gum inside of his mouth. Though, catching the odd look from Sel'n, Ba'sun dropped his hand and let his brows rise in counter question. "Sorry, did you ask something? Didn't hear it over the jabbering spy."

Sel’n couldn’t help but flinch at the sight of Lilitu. Lili was never a good omen. The mandyr automatically made him think of F’lix and besides that his mandyr’s own hatred for the little creature was always remembered. Thankfully Vanity was either asleep or busy and not paying any mind at all to what her bonded was doing. The brownrider sent a silent thanks to whatever god helped that along before watching Ba’sun slip from around him to deal with the menace. The older rider had to fight back a smile at the interaction between the two before he chuckled at the bluerider’s words. Make himself at home or watch someone try to reason with a mandyr? Hmmm.
A brief look over was given the area before Sel’n simply leaned against the wall to watch Ba’sun. This was better entertainment in his not so subtle opinion. One eyebrow rose as the little creature was quieted and then safely jarred. A curious look was given Ba’sun’s next action and the brownrider briefly wetted his lips before speaking. “If you don’t mind me asking just what did you do to her? I’d like to repeat that with my own harpy actually. Maybe it would teach her what ‘shut up’ means.” Pushing off the wall he set the bottle of wine down before slowly walking towards the other rider. A hand rose then and he gestured towards the pouch. “Oh I didn’t say anything. But. I am curious. Just what do you have there?” Yes curiosity killed the feline and all that. He knew that. However Sel’n had already quite tangled himself in some interesting form of liaison. He had already put a himself a bit at risk and playing safe from now on just seemed. Silly. Thus the brownrider continued to push forward.
Blue eyes flicked up to Ba’sun’s face. “Well your spy is safely out of commission now. Indulge my curiosity.” His hand caught the other mans wrist and he lifted it to examine it curiously.

"Harpy," Ba'sun repeated with barely contain delight. "I like that."
Had a better ring to it than plain demon. Ba'sun smiled to himself as Sel'n went on, mischief visible in his dark eyes even in the dimly lit room. A mere mixture of herbs to make a sleeping draught – or in this case a paste – that worked well to sedate small reptilians. Over time it'd evaporate from where he had rubbed it over her snout. The lizard would only feel it had curled up for a nap. The owner might notice – if there were awake at the time. Ba'sun had good reason to believe his keeper was pleasantly asleep.
Ba'sun might have explained it to Sel'n, if the brownrider hadn't stepped forward and grabbed a wrist. The smile had lessened a touch, and for a silent moment the bluerider regarded the other man through half-lidded eyes. A twist of wrist against the thumb easily freed the arm. A motion done slowly, to hopefully prevent Sel'n from going on the defensive. Asked a lot of questions, ol'Rusty. Ba'sun near shot one back; did he bring Sel'n there to chat?
Recognizing it for the defensive reaction it would have been, Ba'sun relaxed against the dressed, chuckling at Sel'n's probing curiosity. "How about less talking," The finger had tracked back down to his waist, gathering up a pinched of the powder. This he brought up to hover over Sel'n's lower lip. "And more doing."

Really Sel’n shouldn’t have been surprised to the reaction to his grabbing of Ba’sun’s wrist. His own reaction would probably have been much the same. Dark blue eyes examined the other rider with something akin to curiosity, mixed with a bit of nervousness. At least the other had only removed the grip, even if the bluerider’s previous humor seemed to have been a bit lessened. Which wasn’t really surprising. There should be little actual trust here. Instead it was game of touch and go. Mistake one noted. Still there was no sudden flashing of weapons. Mentally Sel’n counted himself lucky for that and decided to redirect his actions into something less demanding. His head tilted curiously at the younger man.
Ba’sun’s chuckle brought a light smile to his face and the brownrider watched with open curiosity as the other leaned back against the dresser and went for the pouch at his hip. One eyebrow rose as the powder was brought up to his lips. Immediately there where warning bells going off in his head. Even though he had already seen the bluerider partake of the substance the rider held himself back from accepting. Not poison no, but as far as what it could be Sel’n had at least a tiny bit of an inkling. Likely fellis. Or some other drug. Here was where the mental and emotional battle warred. Sel’n had been off of the substance completely for months now. It had been slow going due to his bad habit of shooting it up directly instead of mixing it in anyway. In all reality he could have killed himself quite easily. Kali had to monitor him carefully and lower his dosages accordingly till he was now at the point where the addiction was….almost beaten. There was still sometimes a large desire for it but he transferred that longing into other things and actions.
With effort Sel’n turned his head from the offer. He couldn’t. Not just because of Kali, his wing, Kaaoloth, or Vanity. But for himself as well. If he relapsed now all that careful work and pain would be for nothing. “Sorry not interested. I can’t. But you’re right. Enough talk.” Gently the older man placed his hand over Ba’sun’s to redirect it lower and took a step forward. He was careful to do it slowly and unthreateningly even if he himself was tense and ready to spring away, should the circumstances warrant such. In the end Sel’n was still alone in the weyr of someone he had only /just/ met with no witnesses and no backup of any type. Despite just how laid back the Benden mutt seemed to be, appearances could be deceiving and the brownrider never had been a completely trusting sort.
Softly Sel’n smiled. “You previously said something about putting doubts to rest?”

Ba'sun watched with interest as the thoughts and emotions chased themselves across Sel'n's expression, more so in the eyes than anywhere else. The desire was there, not just for physical pleasure, but for the simple offer Ba'sun left hovering above the brownrider's lips. Sel'n recognized the powdered fellis, Ba'sun had no doubt of that. A dangerous bit of territory to tread. The bluerider made his habits unknown to his fellow riders. It wasn't the same when dealing with other users..
When the refusal sounded, Ba'sun couldn't quite stop the smirk from pulling up at the corner of his lips. It didn't sound to him as if Sel'n was saying no for himself. It sounded like a no he won't do it for the sake of others. Well. Ba'sun's others were dead, so, with a dismissive shrug he added the second pinch to his mouth, rolling the bitter taste around on his tongue.
"You are interested, but you won't." He quietly corrected, hand skimming around Sel'n's back and slipping in under his shirt. The touched moved slowly, working the brownrider's shirt up to the shoulders. It would take a bit for the fellis to kick in, but considering how often Ba'sun used it, it wouldn't be more than a small buzz at most. It helped forget. Sel'n may prefer to burnt he past, but Ba'sun just wanted to forget it. A lesson taken from his dragon's playings. Live in the here and now; stop regretting.
His lips touched against the other mans, light and consisting of just the tug and pull of lips. Sel'n had said no to the fellis, and Ba'sun was not the type to force it onto another. Especially not surreptitiously through a kiss.
(Probably can end there..? )
