J’on blanked out most of the people in the room, by the time he actually reached the feast that was laid out for the taking the greenrider was hypersensitive to what J’ash was doing, and probably wouldn’t have noticed anyone else if they walked up and pinched him on the butt. Well maybe then but not before that. So when J’ash picked up nothing but a drink and walked away J’on picked up a second plate and picked out things that he knew the bluerider liked, and a few things that J’on thought everyone should like, he might not be able to absolve himself of being partially responsible for Craivaruth’s wounds but he could at least make sure the dragon wasn’t further distressed by having his rider drink himself unconscious or sick.
Of course by the time he’d done that, and finished piling his own plate so high that some things were in severe danger of toppling over the side to be forever lost on the floor, J’on was a very long way behind his latest acquisition. ‘I brought you some food.’ The greenrider commented, rather needlessly, putting said food down on the table. ‘You’ll want to eat something if you’re drinking that muck, at least it’ll take the taste away.’ J’on offered a slight smile that flitted nervously across his face along with the food.
After that, however, the awkward silence descended again, covering J’on like a shroud. The problem, he decided as he nibbled at a pastry filled with spiced mince and vegetables to cover his awkwardness, was that he really liked J’ash in a genuine more-than-just-a-convenient-body way. He’d deliberately set out at the beginning of the whole mess with the goal of not hurting J’ash (admittedly by keeping him ignorant, and J’on hadn’t planned for Rinagth’s natural exhibitionism), only to end up here from there. He’d managed to hurt his mate anyway, and could only be thankful that J’ash hadn’t stuck around to fight it out with Sel’n and at least wasn’t physically hurt, between them Rinagth and Kaaoloth had managed to injure Craivaruth and leave the blue grounded for who knew how long, and as if that wasn’t enough J’on didn’t have any glib words, or trite advice from some old auntie that could turn it all around for him.
Abruptly losing his enthusiasm for the food, J’on placed the pastry on the edge of his plate for the moment and looked across the table from under lowered lashes. Whatever words had been in his mind died on his tongue as he looked at J’ash. The blueider did look so much better as himself, at least to J’on’s eyes. The loosely controlled hair, the scars that J’on could see, and the others he knew were there, and the loose clothing all looked so much more appealing than the painted beauty he’d purchased. He did, however, wonder what J’ash thought of being summarily told to lose the outfit. The bluerider had obviously spent some time on, if not the dress, then at least his hair and make up. ‘I didn’t upset you too much by telling you to get rid of the dress and stuff did I? I realise you put a lot of thought into that costume but I really think you look better as yourself.’ J’on managed a genuine smile with that statement. Start with the smaller problems, then maybe he’d be better able to tackle the huge ones.

"Don't worry, its more about having fun than being perfect at dancing! I not that good either sooo, maybe we can fool people into thinking we actually know what we're doing." When the little Brown came into the picture, Ithanna wrinkled her nose in good cheer. She knew that the male would grow to be much bigger, but it was nice to think of them as babies for now. Smiling broadly as she took the other Weyrling's hand, the girl promptly turned and headed toward the dancefloor. Yes, she was willing to tow Y'kiro there if need be. She didn't want him second guessing his decision to dance with her. Speaking of decisions... "Iwyrth! Silly lass. I know you're there." Ithanna stopped, seemingly speaking to a cloth covered table. When a Green nose followed by a head appeared the rest of the Dragon soon followed.
I could no longer resist the smell of the place! "Well since you're here, why don't you go say hello to your clutchbrother?" Auwanth? "Yup." Aye, why not? The female quickly departed from the humans, picking her way over to the Brown with woddling steps. Auwanth brothermine! This place is certainly much bigger than I thought it would be! Almost got lost a few times I did.
"We had decided she'd stay in our Weyr," this was directed to Y'kiro, "but she must have gotten bored and got someone to bring her here. Lets go dance, eh?" She shrugged with a smile before tugging at his hand. "Are you excited to be a Weyrling? Oh also, do you have a brother? Because whenever I saw you before we all impressed you always had a guy tagging along with you. I was just wondering about the guys, since we girls had our twin candidates for siblings. Although I don't know if sibling candidates are usual or not..." Tilting her head slightly she tugged on one of her earlobes thoughtfully. She really didn't know too much about Dragonrider culture to draw any conclusions. Maybe she'd talk to Iwyrth about it later, she'd found out the Green really helped sort her thoughts so that they were actually usable.

((sorry if I'm out of turn but I don't know when I'll next be able to get online...))
"Farryl." C'oar greeted in return. For a moment after that, he merely followed her in silence, trying to figure out why she had made that comment about her green. Peppeth could have come, socialized with the other dragons outside. Or had she meant allowed her to try and crawl inside? Would Peppeth try that? Maybe, he really didn't know the green that well. But instead of making assumptions or something foolish like that, he finally just nodded once and agreed with her. "I suppose." A blanket answer ... not because he wasn't paying attention to what she said or not thinking about it, but simply because he hadn't a clue what she was talking about. Other than her dragon.
"Sortof." he answered, to her question, before reaching out and plucking a plate off a stack to offer her once she reached the table. "If I'm not doing something I do have a habit of finding something to do." He shrugged slightly. "I guess I don't like being idle?" C'oar offered. It wasn't really like he had any reason to not go find something to do...
But, Feasts were hardly meant as a time to talk shop, even if they all lived and breathed dragons and dragon-activities. So he didn't bother to really go into too much detail on any of it. Unfortunately ... that didn't leave a whole terrible lot to talk about. He glanced about for a moment at the other people in the room before looking at her again. "Did your date stand you up?"

Y'kiro smiled a bit as Ithana took his hand. He had a feeling he wasn't going to be getting out of this one so easily. Not that he minded though and she was right. The feast was supposed to be fun. He cocked his head a bit when she paused and seemed to talk to one of the tables...until a green nose appeared. Oh her dragon had followed her too? Well he was sure Auwanath wouldn't mind keeping the green company. Hello Iwyrth, sistermine. Yes it is big but we will learn our way around. he assured the green. He would make sure no one stepped on her at the feast anyway. Y'kiro turned his attention back to Ithanna. "Yes, that was my brother that was with me. His name is Connor. I am excited about being a weyrling." he replied as they started dancing and added, "What about you? Do you have any siblings?" XXX Ashlyn laughed a bit. "Well I'll have to come by sometime and meet him. Pidesk sounds like a lot of fun." she said. She was only a little startled when he dipped her backwards at the end of the dance. She straightened and gave him a curtsy. "We'll see." she replied to his offer of a second dance. She would just have to see how full her dance card got. She watched him leave wishing a bit that he had stayed. He seemed to be good company. The teen shook her head. 'He has other friends to see.' she thought and blinked as her stomach growled. Time for some food. She headed over to the food tables and got a plate to put her meal on. It would seem that dancing worked up an appetite.

Jenna laughed – or at least tried, at the moment it still came out as a nervous giggling at A'emi's story. "Kyrahth sounds like a clever girl." Her eyes quickly fell to her plate, idly wondering if complimenting someone's dragon meant she was complimenting the rider as well. She poked at her food with disinterest, listening and nodding politely to A'emi's words. Fort didn't mean a whole lot to her, having been safely nestled in holds most of her life. If there was suppose to be a grudge against the riders from there, Jenna didn't share the same feelings. "Er – " Jenna picked her chin up to blink at – No! The pale man. Quickly her features firmed in a scowl. "You could of let me win for a lot less marks." He wanted a - dance? Jenna didn't know what to make of that; certain that Piden was trying to work in some angle to whisk her date off while she wasn't paying attention. The suspicious, searching look that swept over the wherhanlder's face spoke enough of her distrust. "Why do you want a dance?" A'emi's chime in earned a quick glance, and Jenna lifted her chin further while scooting her chair closer to her date. A shoulder turned to half-put Piden at her back in refusal. "A'emi is my date." Stubbornly her arm hooked with the greenrider's in possession (the bravado coming out in face of Piden's possible attempts at poaching). All the while her eyes never once leaving the wherhanlder. "I'm going to spend it with him and–" here her voice dipped to a whisper that was suppose to be threatening. "–you're not stealing him." Her gaze wandered past Piden, settling on Maya and Rayne as the dark pair strolled onto the scene, in an undertone to both the men by her, Jenna hissed a incredulous whisper. "Are they in costume?" _____ Kid didn't know how cute he was, drifting along half asleep with disjointed, stubborn mumbles. Kostya half wanted to drag Vix off to a private spot, but it would be impossible with Ximera in tow. Shaking of the female handler would be more effort than Kostya wanted to expend tonight. He didn't dislike the girl, no, but her timing was definitely poor. Alas, being in a public setting would keep himself in check.. "I, for one, am tired of eating the scraps of what the dragonriders leave behind from their dinners." His hand pressed lightly against Vix's mid back as they moved into the bustle of the Dining Hall. Ximera would follow along without prompting, no doubt there. Yet how to make her leave so he could present his gift to Vix remained a question. It'd be rude to give a present to one person, and not the other. Not, mind you, that Kostya cared about offending a person, but he was attempting to play to Ximera's princess alter-ego. Well, he could hope the princess would get caught up with doing her duty.. going around with those social graces to greet everyone. Kostya nudged Vix to an empty table away from the majority of the activity. Curiously his eyes narrowed, and his hand moved to take the other male's, turning it over. His thumb traced over the recently healed cut. "What happened there..?" It looked like a cut, one not all that different from one Vix had done to himself upon impressing Tekivisk.

Change in suction made a strange sound as J'ash removed the bottle from his lips once more, fingers that were delicately wrapped around its neck cocking it to the side. He blinked as a plate was set down in front of him and then hesitantly looked up at the person who had put it there, already knowing who it would be. Eyes fleetingly ghosted over J'on's form before darting elsewhere - anywhere but the Greenrider. He let his eyes fall onto the heaped plate. A twinge of appreciation and awe stung him, but wasn't sure how he was supposed to be acting, and brushed it away. He was upset dammit, and with good reason. And as much as the blond would normally fawn over such a nice action (especially coming from J'on), J'ash was too upset to bother expressing it.
"Um... Thanks," he mumbled, placing the bottle down slowly. His stomach was empty, but he didn't feel like eating. The smell of the food wafted up to his nose to tease him as J'on sat down and began to eat. He was annoyed at how flattered he felt that the Greenrider had remembered his favourite foods. The other things he'd added on looked so good, too... Just so that he wouldn't be a complete ass (and the fact that he wanted something to blame for the awkward silence), he picked up a small morsel and carefully nibbled at it, avoiding eye contact with the Greenrider altogether.
But he couldn't keep looking away forever. Glancing at J'on, he realized he was being watched and watched back, unable to pull his eyes away. From the messy hair to the golden-brown eyes to the strong build, J'ash was very attracted to this man. And the freckles - the freckles that added a little splash of innocence to his otherwise devilishly handsome face - they were so cute! But J'on was indeed much more than just looks...
A blank expression froze on J'ash's face when J'on began to talk, the just-out-of-weyrlinghood Rider watching him with cold gray eyes. When the Greenrider finished, J'ash snorted, the corner of his mouth curling up in a wry smirk as he raised the bottle to his lips once more. He took a moment to drink while coming up with a response, and lowered the bottle to swirl its contents gently as he began to talk. "Even if I spent hours and hours getting ready, the hurt is nothing in comparison to..." He didn't have to bother finishing that sentence. It was vague, yes, but J'on would get it, especially since J'ash could not retain the hurt from showing in his eyes. "Oh. By the way. How was Sel'n? A good fuck, yes?" He put down the bottle, the hurt - and a spark of anger - growing in his eyes. "You might want to tell him to avoid me, because I'm going to beat the shit out of him the second I see him." As if just realizing that the Brownrider might actually be there, the blond began to turn his head to scope the feast, almost rising out of his chair.
That wasn't the alcohol talking, although he was starting to feel a buzz.
~~~
Syrene glared as someone she didn't know brought her food and drink. She couldn't maintain the glare on the unknown man - who was apparently named X'rx - for long though, because he had been kind. (She was annoyed that someone had tried to offer her help because of her injury. She preferred to be independent, but was not exactly in the mood to tell the Greenrider off.) Instead, she shifted her glare to the boy next to him, and snorted. "Well if it isn't Screaming Boy." She was referring to him yelling at Wridelth's egg - the Brownie egg - at the Touching. Surely he wouldn't mind the nickname. And if he did, she could care less. He could deal with it.
The girl picked up a skewer with some meat on it and raised it to her lips. Her teeth sunk into the food and she yanked the stick away, the meat coming off quite cleanly. The way she chewed was almost predatory, and quickly enough, it was gone. "Syrene." she grunted, eyes shifting between the two men with a metronomic quality that could only be instigated by Wridelth. She glared at the nice man again for his comment. "No one is stupid enough to fight with me. Why?" the Blueweyrling asked, her words lacking any sort of inflection.
"Sit." she commanded, tearing another piece of meat from the skewer. Perhaps she wasn't being very lady-like, but really, she didn't care what these two thought of her. Especially the one called Ae'on.
Wridelth stalked around the feast, not particularly sure why he had come. He certainly wasn't interested in associating with anyone that wasn't His. In order for Syrene to go, he'd had to go; neither of them had wanted to come, but Wridelth had wanted His to relax, and had seen nothing better for her. Flicking his tail as he walked with calculation in every step, his blank gaze fell upon his clutchsiblings, Sfeylth and Versaith. Lowering his bottom half to silently sit, he continued flicking his tail against the ground like a metronome, keeping time. One flick per second. There was no need to associate with the two dragons; watching them from here would do just fine.
Nephele was pleased that E'rro seemed to be trying to enjoy himself. At the very least he was smiling and that was enough for Nephele not to feel too guilty about forcing the man to teach her how to dance a more fromal style of dancing. Everyone could sway to music but not everyone could actually perform the steps of a formal dance. She laughed lightly at what her Wingsecond said. "It is a good thing my 'jewelry' is so handsome, then. A lady is only as good as her accessories."
If she noticed him looking her over she didn't seem to pay any mind to it. When he began to compliment her she looked at him curiously. What he said forced her to bring a hand up to cover her genuine smile. She was quite surprised by his sincere compliment. His teasing brought about an almost self-conscious laugh. Almost. "You flatter me," she replied, a little more than a hint of amusement in her voice. For all that the Legatus Wing was a strange one for her to be on, she actually enjoyed being on it. The members of it were odd but not so bad when you got used to them.
Nephele eyed the food. There really was quite a lot to pick from. Her stomach rumbled silently and she grinned. "As tempting as the desserts look, I think I'll save them for last." She was more than willing to get her own food but...would it hurt to have E'rro wait on her for a single night? "I'll go get a table if you'd be so good as to get me some food?" It was more of a subtle order than a true request but as she drifted past him towards the tables her hand gently brushed his arm. "Thank you."
----
Ae'on snorted when X'rx corrected him. "That's what I said," he snapped back defensively. Even though he knew he didn't say that. Shut up! At least it seemed like X'rx was back to normal...for him anyways. The blueweyrling looked around the room and sighed. "Why am I the only new weyrling who has to be a slave at their own feast?" It was a rhetorical question, and mumbled at that. He didn't expect an answer out of anyone.
Ithanna had breezed by but a moment ago, leaving a slightly blushing Ae'on in her wake. Silly girl. Couldn't leave him alone, could she? He never asked for her to butt into his life! Her interruption left him unsettled enough to merely shrug at X'rx's comment about dancing. He ate some of the food as he thought about nothing and everything. He was broken out of his thoughts by X'rx's elbow in his side. His eyes narrowed into a slight glare before following the greenrider's gaze.
"Oh. That one. Yeah, never see her without it on," he commented, derision hiding just under his bored tone. Pretty, her? Was it his mission to fix peoples' appearances or something? He sighed as he was dragged off, gently trying to shake the hold X'rx had on his elbow. He could walk himself, thank you. At least the greenrider had the decency to introduce them both and save him the trouble. Oh, but she had no intention of using his name, did she? His eyes narrowed dangerously.
"'Screaming Boy?'" He lived up to the nickname a moment later. Fine then, he'd see her reaction to having her name disregarded. X'rx he was being somewhat nice to based on the fact that he was his 'owner' for the night. Syrene had no such protection. "What kind of idiot would fight a girl who can't even keep her own weapons from hurting her?" It was, he knew, a bit low to use his knowledge as a Healer against her. He'd seen the records and knew her injuries went beyond her foot. "Idiot girls have no right to order me around," he added dismissively. He didn't care if X'rx disliked his attitude. Besides, hadn't she been rude first, despite X'rx bringing her food?
Sfelyth was quite pleased when Versaith approached him. I think my eyes deceive me! A beauty has come upon me, he said to his clutchsister. And what an idea she has, too. I'd be honoured to race with you, lovely Versaith. Racing wasn't trouble, now was it? So he was under no obligation to not participate in a race. I do believe we are being watched by a Wridelth. Shall we invite him too?
"Of course." Bobbing his head slightly as Neph receded E'rro took the moment to reflect on his situation. He didn't mind getting ordered around, he had long since grown accustomed to it from years at Benden and years learning in the infirmary. The Brownrider began putting food on the plates as he split his focus. How had he even gotten into the auction anyway? A momentary flashback gave him the answer he was looking for. Ah yes. It happened at night about a week before the auction, he had been drinking with a few of his fellow Dragonriders and debating proper ground maneuvers. They had drawn him so deeply into an argument that he didn't pay attention to how many times his companions filled his goblet up with wine. Originally he had intended to only have a single glass, but ended up being tricked into having three or four. Enough to get him properly buzzed, but not quite drunk yet. The Riders brought up the auction, one thing lead to another and E'rro had ended up proclaiming that "unlike the rest of you sorry excuses, I would definitely get bid on." So he ended up being volunteered.
"Well... if I learn anything from this, is to watch my cup more often." Sighing, the Wingsecond finished putting a little bit of everything on the plates. He hadn't been sure what Nephele preferred because he forgot to ask, but this way she'd be able to pick out what she wanted. It took two trips to get everything they needed. On his first trip he set the plates down before quickly returning. Silverware in one hand and two cups of fruity smelling juice in the other, he returned a second time and sat down. "If you want more of something, just tell me." He offered the Greenrider her cup and silverware before setting up his own. E'rro had a little less on his plate because he wasn't very hungry. It was most likely due to the time of night. He didn't eat until much later since he was up until the wee hours of the morning. Tonight he had been excused from duties, but his schedule was still on course. One night wasn't enough to derail it.
What he was most interested in now though, was how much Nephele had actually spent on him. Yet, a part of him also didn't want to find out. It would probably hurt his pride if it was a small sum...
~~~
She draped her forearm over Y'kiro's shoulder as they began to dance, being as casual as possible about the whole thing. Ithanna wasn't one to get all formal when she didn't have to. "Oh me? Well, since you asked. I have two older brothers. The lady schmoozing Riazai, he's the younger one at twenty turns, and the gentlemanly Anntha. He's twenty-three." She smiled when she said her eldest sibling's name, he had always been her favorite. "But they're still back at Ruatha helpin' with our family's job. We're a family of Runner merchants, see? So they gotta stay and take over when our parents get too old to travel anymore. And then when they have kids, they'll be taken over. Ma and Da are prolly not happy that I ran off to here, 'cuz I was s'posed to come back an' be another Beasthealer to help my brothers when tha time comes. But I send them letters and stuff to let them know I'm not dead somewhere in a ditch or what have you." Her shoulder shrugged slightly.
"I haven't told them I'm a Weyrling yet. Not too sure how they'd take it, see? All up in ta air that declaration would be. Ma would go silly with worry. She'd say 'Oh mah baby. My only girl! Its dangerous!' Da would... well I just don't know how he'd take it. Riazai would be entirely against it and Anntha would be supportive but I know he'd be just as worried as Ma but in his own way. But I'm sure Iwyrth would want to meet all of them if she could. To bad Ruatha is in the North, ne?" Ithanna blinked and looked up with an apologetic smile. "Sorry I tend to talk a bit much when I'm in a good mood. But..." She tilted her head slightly, "... what about you? Have ya told your parents yet? If your don't mind me askin of course. You don't have to answer if you don't want."
Aye, we will eventually. The green stuck her nose in the air and sniffed appreciatively. What do ya say about gettin us something to eat? I'm sure the humans wont miss a little food, eh? Iwyrth pulled her lips back in a sly grin. I betcha I could get us a lil' somethin, somethin. What do ya say Auwanth?

"He's up to something, Laddie," Ximera whispered to the ladle rebelliously, casting a glance over her shoulder at Kostya and Tekivix. It passed through her mind to fade back again and take Tekki's free hand, if only to be a snot; Kostya was so not sharing. It wasn't nice. But the girl was distracted by the conversation, her small face screwing up into an expression of confusion. "We can go to the Main Hall later, like we always do." Oh he was definitely being sneaky. She'd never find out about what, though, until they got there. "They won't have all the good food left if we're late, though," she added, flashing a smile at Tekivix. Commence Operation: figure out the Kostya trick.
As such, she stuck to the pair like so much glue when they pushed into the press, murmuring squeaky apologies to the people who kept running into her. Being so short, this prevented her from seeing the banner, but it felt like a ball they were sneaking away to. All the pretty people in their pretty clothes and the happy buzz of conversation. Wide-eyed, she clambered up onto the empty table Kostya took them to, seating herself there with a plop. Oh, it was a Hatching Feast! Did that mean her brother would be here? She looked around, but didn't see him right away (he was pretty short, too, she'd discovered) instead catching sight of Kostya's interest in Tekki's hand.
Ximera crawled across the table and poked her head between them, looking up at Tekivix's face. "Did your hand slip when you were cutting something?"
X'rx's eyes snared on Ithanna, solely because of Ae'on's reaction, but he didn't say anything about it for the time being. Call it helpful intervention. Not that the blueweyrling was likely to make any moves. 'Awkward' was something of an understatement for the healer (which was part of why he was so cute). "Mmm," the greenrider intoned at the revelation that dark black circles were a fashion statement and not a passing fancy. If it was supposed to be scary...it ended up just looking really, really weird. He feigned oblivious disregard to Ae'on's attempts to shake off his hand. Most likely the blueweyrling would follow, but X'rx wasn't entirely sure, and he wasn't yet willing to give up his prey to the crowd. Not yet. Soon, though. In all actuality, he wasn't in the habit of paying for companionship.
Screaming boy? X'rx looked from one to the other for a moment, watching the flare-up begin to happen and stepping deftly between the new blueweyrlings with an ammeliorating smile. "I was just commenting to Ae'on that all that kohl was covering up how pretty you are. Naturally I thought you must have gotten into a fight and were using it to cover up the bruising. I honestly can't imagine why you'd want to hide your face otherwise," he interjected smoothly.
But there the healer went again, snapping at her. The greenrider turned enough to level him with a long-suffering look, reaching up to touch his arm. "It was an invitation, Ae'on, hardly an order. You really mustn't call him names, Syrene. Anyone would be wounded to have a creature such as yourself treating them so cruelly." He smiled, then, at Ae'on. "Thank you for your company tonight. Consider your duty to me discharged and have some fun...though I wouldn't at all protest to a dance later or your continued presence. It's your Hatching Feast, after all, so consider yourself emancipated." He winked, then seated himself beside Syrene.
Leaning closer - just on the edge of distance that was strictly 'polite' - X'rx questioned, "Did you really hurt yourself with your own weapons?"

"Honestly, I wasn't thinking about my opponents for the first half," Piden explained, completely unconcerned by how selfish that made him sound. "I am somewhat used to indulging my own desires. Not, however, when I deprive a guest of honor of her fun," he added, glancing significantly at the knot on her shoulder - no longer that of a Candidate. "Congratulations."
Jenna's obvious suspicion made Piden snort under his breath. Such distrust from one so - well, actually, Jenna didn't look that much younger, after all. Certainly older than he'd been when he impressed Pidesk. Adjusting his stance so it was a little more open, less aggressive, he explained, "I want a dance because I would like to apologize for driving the bidding so high, to congratulate you on your impression, and because you are, in fact, quite attractive." A'emi's two cents were met with an absent "'Course," Piden not even looking over at A'emi as he answered the Greenrider's question. "She brought you, you're entitled to first and last, if she agrees."
The refusal didn't hurt - but it did make Piden laugh, out loud this time. "Steal him? Absolutely not, my lady, I would never be so rude. You won him fair and square. It wasn't for lack of marks that I let it be," he added, sliding his hands into his pockets in a subtle sign of defeat. He was about to play his final gambit when Jenna's attention was stolen. Their getups raised even Piden's jaded brows, and someone else to steal a dance with was added to the list. The younger one, clearly, with the Blueweyrling's knots. "Perhaps just a... darker taste in clothing?" he asked, mostly rhetorical.

Ten's smile widened just a touch as G'tor nearly choked, clearly thrown off by this turn of events. She had intended to catch him off guard, and it had worked beautifully. Hopefully it would shock him into answering truthfully; Ten had little patience for lies and quibbling. "No one at all?" she asked, disbelief coloring her voice. As he went on, though, she nodded - she could see how hard keeping up with a relationship started by a flight would be, and dragonriding was a time consuming business. Honestly, if there weren't any girls on his wing who struck his fancy, he was kind of out of luck.
Oho, but there were ladies he'd ask, were there? Ten was grinning again in a second, trying to cover it up with her salad. She thought she'd have to ask who, but chewing the mouthful of food rather than talking through it proved to be productive - and then she almost choked. "Kaegan? Weyrwoman Kaegan?" she clarified, trying not to sound too incredulous. "No that I - sorry - you do know Kaegan?" Perhaps this shouldn't surprise her much (the Weyr wasn't that huge, after all) but pretty much all the Goldriders seemed more like mythical figures to her than real people. She should know better, of course, but a Lord Holder was something different than someone selected by a queen dragon. Then, with the kind of starry-eyed expression little boys got when they spoke of impressing Bronze, she added, "And she do be nice? What were you doing on that auction block?"
Once the subject turned to herself, though, Ten was equally evasive. "Who, me? No, I... I do no know very many men my own age. There do be three left in my Weyrling class, and they all be... 15, 16. A touch too young for me. Who was to ask me, hmm? The Weyrlingmaster?" Sure, there were people she might have liked to come with, but they were either distant acquaintances - C'oar, for instance, who she saw around the forges but had only really spoken to once - or people who didn't seem to be present. G'tor had shared, though, so she figured she might as well return the favor. "I might have asked C'oar, as a friend - we do both work in the Forge - but he seems to have a date," she finished, gesturing to where he and Farryl were chatting. Ah well, story of her life.

Y'kiro shrugged. He didn't mind listening to Ithanna. His brother tended to do the same thing whenever he was excited. He blinked as she asked her question.. "Oh...my parents don't really care about me or my brother anymore." he replied a bitter edge to his voice. He'd never really gotten over the death of his parents and the consequent disruption of his and his brother's life. Suddenly warmth flooded through him from Auwanath.
You don't have to worry Mine. You will always have me at your side. the brown reminded his. A smile flickered across Y'kiro's lips. Yes he did have Auwanath. He gave Ithanna a smile.
"So you're excited about being a weyrling then?" he asked tilting his head a bit.
Auwanath tilted his head at the green. Yes food did sound very good right now. I don't see why not. he agreed.

Well if this was how uncomfortable things were going to be for the next however long…J’on abandoned that thought, it was going nowhere, or at least nowhere useful, he was pretty sure no one had found a way to neuter a dragon yet (if they had he’d definitely have seen a queue) so he’d better abandon that thought before he got around to that again. Besides, he really didn’t want to think what Rinagth might be like if she didn’t Fly, she could be bad enough when she did.
The greenrider’s focus changed from his counterproductive thoughts just in time to J’ash’s gaze slide away from him, probably for the millionth time or so if the bluerider felt anything like as awkward as he did.
The coldness in those silver grey eyes was quite enough to chill J’on to the core when the bluerider’s gaze was turned on him, and he couldn’t help the slightly pained expression that crossed his face when J’ash raised his bottle to his lips again. How he could stand to drink that J’on really didn’t know. His first instinct was a childish one, to protest that J’ash wasn’t being fair, however he nobly choked down the protest.
‘J’ash. Sit down, and try to calm down a bit.’ The sentence came out a little more exasperated than J’on intended but he just plowed onward without a pause for this to degenerate into a pointless row just yet. ‘I’m not passing on your threats, especially not when they might get you hurt. As for Sel’n’s… skills; I wouldn’t know, I’ve only ever been with him in Rinagth’s Flights and I wouldn’t consider that a good time to judge.’ For a moment J’on paused, he knew whatever he said was probably going to be a spark that set everything off but at this point he was hard pushed to care. ‘I much rather have your company, but it’s Rinagth’s choice. Do you know how much it scared me, deep down, that she’d acknowledge my choice and pick Craivaruth?’ The greenrider’s voice was rising with a slightly frantic note to it and his hands were trembling slightly, he always preferred to avoid arguing when possible, but now he’d started he was determined to bull his way through this one and let J’ash know exactly how he felt. ‘Do you know what she’d have done to him if she’d chosen him and discovered he couldn’t mate with her? Well nor do I but you saw how she is in her Flights. She’d be in a rage that’s for sure, and I doubt she’d have been able to persuade Kaaoloth to came back for her if she’d done that.’ The greenrider gave an involuntary shudder at the thought of Rinagth venting her sexual frustrations on Craivaruth. ‘Okay, I guess you can start yelling at me now.’ He said fixing a steady gaze on J’ash.

Farryl collect a plate of her own and followed C'oar automatically. It wasn't like she had anyone else to talk, and he was an old classmate. It seemed they had drifted apart after the others had died. Maybe so as not to be reminded, or maybe just because they were all busy. It was sad, really. She nodded politely, taking a bit of food. "I can understand that," she agreed. "I hate being bored myself. Have you seen T'ke? I thought I saw him working in the infirmary of all places." Her eyes danced in amusement. The thought of their squeamish classmate working anywhere where he might come in contact with blood was hilarious.
His last question made her laugh. "No dates for me," she answered, without sorrow. "Maybe I'm too scary?" She'd thought of asking that handsome K'sel, but it seemed he was going to be busy tonight. She watched the dancing for a moment wistfully. It might be nice to have someone, but she wasn't sorry she didn't. She was young yet, and there was time for such things later.

G'tor made a face at Tenlie. He should have known she'd react like that, but she had asked. He prided himself at being honest whenever he could. "Well, we have spoken," he admitted. It had been mostly passing conversations, but he'd always got the impression that Kaegan liked being talked to like a normal woman and not based on her rank. It was one of the things he liked about her. "And Ruskeath keeps chasing her gold, even when I tell him not to," he laughed. Ruskeath had never had an interested in chasing golds before, but now he went after Millieth every time. It was hard for G'tor to fathom what had gotten into him.
Glad the conversation had turned away from him, G'tor chuckled at Tenlie's equally nervous reply. "I don't think any of them would say no to such a lovely lady as yourself," he confided with a smile. Following her gaze, he eyed C'oar and Farryl. They were from Aslath's last clutch, if he remembered rightly. He remembered C'oar fairly well, if not the girl. "Why don't you ask him to dance?" he asked slyly. "I don't think Farryl will mind."

C'oar shrugged just a bit. "I've run into him here or there. Not often. But yes ... I found him in the infirmary." He set a roll on top of a heap of gravy-drenched slices of roasted wherry. He tended to consume an atrocious amount of food ... and a great deal of it was protein, too. Hey, it took a lot to fuel a body that was both dragonriding and operating a smithy. "Not exactly the first place I would have looked to find him, no. I admit I was quite surprised. Why he's there, I don't know ... he is still rather quick to turn a tad green about the gills." He said, with absolutely no judgment in his tone. Just mere statement of fact. "But, maybe burns aren't the best thing for him to encounter, either." The spot on his arm that he'd melted the hide off of was still marked ... and probably always would be. Burns that were bad enough to liquefy living flesh tended to leave lifelong marks. Today, however, it was covered under the selfsame sleeve that he rarely ever wore.
Her admission to not having a date at all got a somewhat surprised look out of him, though. One eyebrow ooched upward just a bit as he gave her a skeptical look. "You? No date?" He asked dubiously. "Heh. You're not scary Farryl." But then ... he was a fine one to talk. Very, very little ever alarmed C'oar, really. He arched a brow at her again before plying his next question. He was probably being a tad overnosy, but eh. "Did you even try to get a date, then?" C'oar was pretty sure she hadn't. Not that that was really any of his business. If he'd been any shorter, he might have been cruising for a slap, he was sure. Never mind he was deluding himself if he thought he was tall enough to escape such a fate.
In silence he witnessed her wistful look toward the dance floor, and wondered why in the world she was stabbing herself in the foot. But ... that was again probably forbidden territory there. Saeo could get away prodding about these things, but that was because Saeo was a girl. Girls did that. So for the moment, he maintained his semi-silence. Even if that was something that would be interpreted to mean he was clueless.
Orena finally arrived, for once dressed semi modestly. She grinned from ear to ear though, and was quite happy to cuddle with Riavorth for a moment while Isori stood by and rolled her eyes. Turning away from the two newly bonded, Isori wandered off into the crowd looking for someone else to harass. Someone interesting ...
Orena however, seemed completely oblivious that her sister had wandered off. Though anyone watching might have been a touch mystified at the appearance of a second girl, and the two apparently trading off the dragonet. Especially since the first assumption would have been that Isori had been the one bonded to the green, not the newly arrived one. Very strange sight indeed. But quickly missed, just as easily.
Giggling freely, Orena headed off with Riavorth toodling along on her heels, snaking through the crowd with a touch more grace than she'd displayed with Isori. First things first, food!
