You did, Juliya replied, no small amount of amusement in her voice. She was focusing on Eriannath, but out of the corner of her eye, she could see Corinth rolling over in the sands and was half-tempted to walk over and run her hands down his side, like she would a feline or canine cub. Her self-control prevailed by sheer force of luck, but the temptation lingered in the back of her mind. That thought held her captive and she clicked her tongue, choosing not to look over at T'rid. It was probably a good thing, too, because she was mostly tempted to walk over and tease him relentlessly; possibly flick the end of his nose. Something about him just reminded her a lot of her younger brothers, complete with obnoxious streak. Not that she'd seen them in Turns. Not since before she Impressed Eriannath, and she had no idea how her family was. Going back to Ista wasn't an option. She missed them, though...
Melancholy. Juliya lifted one hand and put it over her eyes before exhaling sharply at the exact second that T'rid spoke. Her eyes narrowed on him slightly, but she chose not to reply to what she deemed further proof of just how childish the bronzerider was. Didn't he realize that by making such comments it reinforced the idea that he honestly needed to be slapped? Not her problem.
Kamerai... was... well, for the north, she was unique. Goldriders there, they don't have the kind of influence they do here normally. I hear Benden even locks their Senior Weyrwoman up on a regular basis, she replied to Corinth as one hand came up to rub her temples. Throbbing headache forming. Great. Just great. Kamerai was different. She ruled Fort, but I don't think anyone knew outside of the people who saw her regularly. I was on her Wing, so I saw it. She had the bronzeriders wrapped around her fingers - and I think she may have believed someone else would be a threat to her rule. I don't know. She scared me. It was hard, admitting that. Of everything she saw in life, being scared of a little woman wasn't exactly the most delightful thing to confess, but... Kamerai did scare her. It was hard not to be frightened of a woman in the north who managed to, against all odds, attain a sufficient amount of power.
Dark thoughts, dark thoughts. Eriannath nudged her and crooned again, and Juliya jumped. Her attention turned back to T'rid and she smiled, wryly, hoping it hid some of her discomfort. "I think I'll let you swallow that one, eh?" she teased, then added, "Hopefully once your brain has adjusted, you'll be able to avoid the sarcastic and childish remarks?" Without waiting for a response, she stepped away from Eriannath and started down the beach, but she did have the decency to call over her shoulder, "I have some extra work to do. When you want my help with Corinth, he can call me. Eriannath is perfectly capable of making clear what she wants. Such a nice young man you are to help me with oiling her. Really, I'm grateful."
I can't help but needle him. But - I need to get to work... and... And the darker turn of the conversation kicked her fight or flight instinct in. She couldn't help it; she wanted to run away. Yes, T'rid seemed anything but dangerous, but that did not stop her discomfort from growing with each passing second. You're welcome to call me any time. And I intend to make good on my plans to spoil you rotten. It was nice meeting you both...
[ Thread is going on waaay too long. xD; Sorry I've sucked posting here. Juliya's not my strongest char. =( ]
