Lesson 2: Classroom: Bonding Exercises; Advanced Care for Growing DragonetsTraining Field: Firestone Familiarization (Riders); Chain & Toss Empty Bags (Riders); Endurance, Strength & Wind Exercises (Dragonets) Kaaoloth sunned on the opposite bank of the river and flicked his wings lazily. You are having them do the same lesson as the Christmas class did? Yes it was effective don’t you think? I suppose so. Shall I call to them? Yes Kaaoloth please do so. Have them all report to the classrooms except the repeating Tidals. Their dragons will wait outside. A pulse of understanding and Sel’n began shifting things on his desk. So far the attendance in this class had been very good. The only absence was L’nos. Perhaps he was scared to come to class? Well if he continued to avoid it he would fail like the three Tidal weyrlings. Sel’n was only making those weyrling’s take a few repeat classes before he tested them. If they passed they would graduate. But he was not telling them that. Oh no, that would ruin it. Let them expect they had to retake the entire course. Attention remaining Tidals and Exotic class. You are to report to lessons immediately. Exotic dragons and students to the classrooms. Tidal students to the classrooms and Tidal dragons you will wait outside on the training field. Be warned if you skip lessons you will have to retake the entire course again. Closing the contact Kaaoloth stretched out to get the remaining sun. It looked to rain soon. --- Hurry Narmine. If we are late we will set a bad example. “Is that why you bolted your food so fast? I swear if you get indigestion again I am not calling a healer Olanreth." The bronze hatchling snorted. Of course you will. For all your threats you would hardly let me suffer. I am not stupid Narmine. “Yeah believe me I know.” D’nar rubbed the bronze’s head affectionately as they entered the class rooms. First as usual. Olanreth would settle for nothing less. “Good morning Weyrlingmaster.” Olanreth crooned approvingly and settled regally beside his rider. His clutch mates would soon enter and he had to set the proper example. D’nar rolled his eyes but said nothing. The beginning of the relationship had been rocky but the boy was quickly learning to deal with his dragon’s personality quirks. They where stuck with each other, and D’nar had waited so long for his bronze. Olanreth was meant for him. So they had to work to build up a suitable partnership. This time, Nris was prepared. This time, she had Lilliementh awake on time, and ready to go. Even all prettily washed up and oiled to a new sheen. The two of them had had a grand old ball of a time in the river early early in the morning, swimming and playing together. Despite the chill. Cold was not a thing to put Nris out of the water, oh no. She loved to swim! And her dragon was not any different. Didn't help that Lillie didn't know any different. So, the two had risen before dawn, played in the chilly river, washed, and then oiled. All before breakfast. The two had broken thier fast together, perched on the river bank. Lilliementh loved the idea of a picnic, munching on her meat out of her bucket as Nris nibbled on a couple of veggie stew-stuffed rolls.
In plenty of time they had made it back to the barracks. There, Nris had taken the time to unwind and dry her platinum locks and dry it all, before winding it back up into a tight bun at the base of her skull. Dressing in slightly warmer looking clothes than her skin-tight dophineer clothes to keep anyone from fussing at her, she made ready for class.
The time between then and actual class wasn't as boring as she might have feared. As it was all together too easy to entertain Lilliementh by patting at the ground with a stick. The scrawny green loved to pat at the end of it every time it struck the ground, leaving Nris laughing and Lilliementh quite amused. When the call came, the two of them hurried over to the classrooms, making it in hard on D'nar's heels.
"Good day, Master Sel'n!" Nris greeted, cheerfully, before taking up a spot and sitting down. Lilliementh curled up next to her, and then uttered a sharp chirp of her own to the greeting, tail curling daintily around her bony legs.

Hazleth bumped his side, a move that the big brown made gently that nevertheless made L’nos stumble slightly as they walked by the river. Kaaoloth’s calls again, L’nosmine. We should go this time. I heard that they are learning so many things, and I, -we-, are missing out. What have you to really be afraid of? If Kaaoloth’s tries to come too close, I will protect you. The weyrling turned to his brown with a small smile as he reached out to scratch the sandstone colored patches around his whirling blue eyes, still loving the connection they had and still marveling in it. It was deeper than the one he had with either of his blues, who had both decided to sleep in for the day, but sometimes Hazleth said things that disturbed him. “He won’t attack me Haz, it’s just…” He reached for the words to describe it, and failing, tried to give the curious brown a taste of his mixed emotions. Hazleth snorted lightly. Kaaoloth’s will not mate with you while he is teaching, so let’s go already. The longer you take to finally join these classes, the more difficult it will be for you in the end. L’nos winced, and turned a look on his stocky dragon, brows raised in surprise.
Hazleth was surprisingly understanding sometimes. He was quick witted, and his friendliness and forwardness led him to understand the way people and dragons worked better than L’nos thought possible. If nothing else, he knew L’nos inside and out, and that deep, personal understanding from an outside observer was a bit unnerving at times. Nevertheless, he had a point, and L’nos really didn’t want to start out his career as a rider with such a negligent record. Giving Hazleth a last scratch, he finally nodded with a sigh. “You’re right, we’ll go then.” Happiness flooded him through their connection, and he smiled in reaction.
A few minutes later found the brownpair hovering just outside the classroom, where L’nos balked at the door, only to get a solid shove from behind which he barely covered for as Hazleth followed him in, fluffing his big wings in a nonchalant manner as L’nos turned an accusatory look on him. Adjusting himself nervously, L’nos found that he was only the third weyrling to arrive, and felt good about it, despite his nerves. He walked past Nris and D’nar with a small wave to each and approached Sel’n with a determined stride. Bowing low in apology while trying to not meet the weyrlingmaster’s eyes, Hazleth flanked him to make sure His wouldn’t run away again. “I really do apologize for not coming to your first class, Master Sel’n.” He got out in a rush. “I promise it won’t happen again.”

Thora and Pri were at the tail end of their breakfast when Kaaoloth's call went out. Hastily finishing, the pair scooted back into the Weyr from their grassy spot in the Weyrbowl, Thora wiping crumbs from her pants and Hypriceth licking the sweet beast blood from her chops. She really could have eaten more but she supposed she could digest some of it during the lesson and then be able to coax Hers into giving her a whole 'nother meal! That would be quite lovely indeed.
Entering the classroom, Thora bowed to Sel'n and flashed him a pretty smile. "Goodmorning weyrlingmaster." Hypriceth crooned her own hello as she followed Hers. Taking their usual seat towards the middle of the room, Thora sat, legs comfortably crossed in front of her. Pri laid down directly behind her, curling her tail around into the girl's lap, and resting her head on the other side. After ruffling her wings into a comfortable position, Hypriceth lids drooped and her eyes whirled a rich green as she absently scanned the room, waiting for the rest of the class to enter.

"Nobody likes you Pettahth, you have a funny looking face....with freckles..." K'sel said cooly to the dragon as they made their way to class. He said this calmly, which was an odd sight to see, how many people could get away with insulting a brown dragon while striding along next to one? Apparently K'sel could, and while drinking his citron juice at that. It was just the tail end of another one of their little "conversations". That is what the boy called them, as many barbs they could throw at each other, it was all good natured.
They are not freckles. I WILL chew your arm off. Now we really must go to class, Kaaoloth called for us.
K'sel finished off the rest of his drink, leaving the cup behind along the way and promising that he would pick it up on the way back (but K'sel was never too great at keeping promises). In the same non-chalant manner he had been speaking to the brown before, he issued his decree. Defiance was on the mind of the young weyrling, "Well maybe I just want to skip...." He grinned evilly in faux resistance. He had no true intentions of shirking his lessons, but if he wasn't pressed to he could find a way out of going, besides, he had started to sarcastically call his fellow Weyrlings the "Fun Bunch" since he just seemed to have so many good interactions with them. Ha. Well, he supposed he should really, really, try and put forth some effort, but his dragon didn't have to know that.
BUT YOU WILL GO! Sometimes the dragon took his rider much too seriously and delivered a deft headbutt right into K'sel's side, that knocked him over and elicited a great oof from the dark haired boy. Continuing to challenge the dragon, K'sel sat up and crossed his arms and legs Indian Style. He was virtually anchoring himself in the path to the lessons, and then he even did the great insult of sticking out his tongue and replying, "You can't make me." He could be such a child.
The brown flapped his wings in frustration, and honkered down to begin pushing his bonded towards the building. This would be sure to be trouble....
Minutes later, K'sel sauntered into the lesson with Pettahth visibly flustered and his own clothes spolied with dirt and grass stains. There was dead leaves in his hair and deeply creased wrinkles embedded into his formerly white shirt. But K'sel did not miss a beat, he waved to everyone, including the Weyrlingmaster, as if not a thing had happened. And nothing really did in his mind, it was more of that "good natured fun". Daring to show even a little bit of a grin as he laughed to himself, he took up his usual spot (it was funny how people seemed to take ownership of that place they pick on the first day). Glancing up he noticed his newly acquired firelizard lurking in the rafters of the room, glaring blue against the tamer colors of the room like the little Eyesore he really was.

“fug off.” T’yr batted at his persistent dragon for the third time that morning. / mm.. no. / Astendith projected methodically back to his mine. The sun was shining through the windows, which indicated that it must be past 9. Astendith could hear birds tweetering outside and the bustling of the barracks outside. T’yr apparently did not.
Astendith huffed at his human. Yes, he knew that T’yr had to work night shift but it was important for him to go to his lessons. Astendith did not want to be left behind on the ground while his mine repeated his hole year. It would be pathetic and embarrassing to have a full grown dragon lounging around the barracks while his classmates went to the canyon to live… not that T’yr had really made friends with anyone of them, but still. It would be embarrassing none the less.
Finally, huffing in frustration Astendith opened his jaws and clamped them on T’yr’s buttocks as hard as he could. He could feel the skin break slightly under his teeth, but that was somewhat drowned out by the enormous screech that could have probably been heard anywhere within a mile of the barracks.
/ You ready to get up yet? / Astendith sent, just before dodging a fist from his mine. / I told you to get up, now that you are up, lets go. / Astendith walked out of the room. He could hear—and feel—his master behind him, pain breaching the bond, along with a mixture of frustration and sleeplessness. He felt really bad for T’yr, but it needed to be done.
They walked down to the classrooms in silence. T’yr had a perpetual dark cloud feeling seeping through the bond at his dragon, and he didn’t once look at the blue in the eye. Astendith noticed a bit of blood staining the breeches that T’yr had donned.
/ Did you not put a bandage on? / There was a long pause before T’yr replied. Obviously schooling his response / Didn’t want to –waste- anymore time. It’ll clot, and I don’t give a fug what anyone thinks of it. /
T’yr could feel the blood oozing down his leg. He didn’t care, he was so mad he could spit. If anyone even touched him this morning he’d probably clock them one. He couldn’t remember being so angry before in his life. He really needed sleep. The night shifts were busy the last few and he was coming off work exhausted. He didn’t blame his dragon, he was sure he’d probably thank him in a few hours, but right now he didn’t want anything to do with anyone except his cot, and apparently that wasn’t a possibility.
Astendith walked into the class first, T’yr following close behind. T’yr didn’t look at anyone, he sat and stared straight ahead with a look that could melt through walls. Astendith projected to the class. / He had a late night and hasn’t had much sleep. / Astendith huffed through his nostrals and laid down next to his mine. This was gonna be an uncomfortably long lesson.

Kalina walked into the room and looked around. I really should have made it to the last class. Why couldn't I just suck it up and be here? Her hair was ruffled in an old style she tried the first time she had cut her hair. It wasn't.....extreme...by any means.....but her mother had thrown a fit over it. Now her hair bounced happily in black fluffy waves no longer than her shoulder.
Awww its not too bad! You'll find lessons easy now! And whats better....I have a little friend. Uminth's happiness was hard to resist and Kalina smiled. Her smiled faded some what when she met Sel'n "Hello again Weyrling Master" She said before sitting in her usual place. The only difference now was that everyone else was with their dragon while hers had to wait outside.

And then Oquith pranced by with K'iel dangling from her mouth, and dropped the blueweyrling at the door. She nudged him into the room and then licked him, covering him in more slobber than he'd already been covered in, and then waltzed off, leaving him just inside the doorway of the lessons room.

K'iel was dragging his feet slooooowly. He was suppose to be going to class, and he was, but not as quickly as he should have been. Qualuth was meandering ahead of him, the Blue quietly nudging at his rider's mind in attempt to hurry him up. I'm going aren't I? Yes, but not fast enough. We will be late. We will get there when we get there. K'iel grumbled and kicked at a rock.
Get therethere getget there? Mushu mumbled as he gnawed on a piece of dried meat. He flicked his tail at Qualuth and then scampered away suddenly. Before K'iel could realize what was going on, he was picked up into the air by his shirt. Yelping, the boy struggled only to be scolded by Qualuth. It is Oquith, K'iel. She will not hurt you. The Weyrling glowered at his very eager Blue.
"Qui! Put me down!" K'iel shrieked as he felt dragon drool drip down his back. "You are drooling on me! Tr'esn is so doomed if he made you do this." As if he could really hurt his friend, but he couldn't help but complain. It became obvious that Oquith was not going to set him down until he arrived at his lesson. So when he was plopped onto the floor of the classroom and drooled on some more. Ew!
Getting to his feet, K'iel stalked over to one of the seats with no one close by and sat down. He didn't acknowledge Sel'n. The WeyrlingMaster could go between for all he cared right now. Mushu scurried into the room and perched on the desk and was for once quiet.
