A Moment of Silence

Anne McCaffrey passed away today. I just wanted to take a moment to publicly acknowledge everything she's done for me, without even knowing me, or knowing that I exist - she's created a wonderful (if occasionally flawed) universe that is more attractive to me than my own; she, along with a few other well-timed authors, introduced me to a life-long love of fantasy, especially the kind that breaks boundaries and defies convention; and she brought me to all of you.

So close to Thanksgiving, it felt appropriate to offer my sincere, undying thanks to Ms. McCaffrey.

My childhood wouldn't have been quite the same without those books. They were truly an escape from some of the more difficult times in my life as a child.

The world she created in her books is still one I very much enjoy and will be forever thankful for. With what she had to work with at the time they were written she did an amazing job. I'll always treasure her work and the friends it brought me here. You're right Ruby without her I might not have met all you wonderful people. <3

It's hard to find words to express my thanks for Anne and the wonderful worlds she created for people like us to enjoy. Her books are still some of my favorites and my mother's. Without her, we wouldn't have these wonderful memories and times spent with each other.
