I'nos was so happy. It was spring. Granted, it had been for a little while now, but it was spring! I'nos was definitely a spring/summer person. Cold weather just made him overall very unreasonable and irksome. His dragon rumbled an agreement in his head and he shushed him, albeit lovingly. He couldn't find it in him to have a sour mood right now.
As it was, he was getting some food right now. He actually hadn't eaten all day. He'd been locked up in his personal weyr as much as possible as of late, only leaving when deemed absolutely necessary. He had one of the worst cases of cabin fever you'll find and it wasn't even in the heart of winter anymore - far from, actually. He just had gotten so used to not leaving his weyr that to leave it felt...odd. He couldn't remember the last time he actually socialized with one of his friends. Certainly not within the last week.
/This just goes to prove you need to leave more often./ Tirneth sighed to him and I'nos ignored him again as he scooped up a few rolls. He was famished. Doubtlessly he'd go back for more food in a little bit, for now he was content to sit at at a table and snack lightly while he just got used to the fact that yes, he was indeed out of his weyr and yes I'nos, this was what the outside world felt like.
As he snacked, people came and went around him and with such a bustle sometimes that I'nos had to avoid them as he returned to the table with yet another serving of food and a hot cup of klah. /They tend to do that; it is the dining hall after all./
You're being too sarcastic for your own good, you know that? I'nos snorted at his dragon as he didn't pay attention to where he was going, focusing more on talking to Tirneth then where he feet went, and he accidentally bumped into someone. Barely having enough courtesy to remember to not swear loudly, he cursed under his breath and swung the cup of hot liquid away from the two of them, as so not to spill it on either of them and scald them.
/Smooth./
Shut up Tir. He snapped and then apologized. "I am so sorry!"

"I don't think that is a good idea. I still require your discretion in this matter, I don't need to remind you how important this is." Leveling her gaze at the man she was with, Kaegan perked her eyebrow before smiling. E'rro of Ismaroth had been one of her most loyal riders, she counted him among the few she could trust to do whatever was needed to ensure the safety of Selenitas.
"Of course Weyrwoman, it was merely a suggestion."
"Good. Now, how is your proposal for the Summit going?" Even over the cacophony of sounds and chatter in the dining hall, the Goldrider was able to hear most of what her current companion was saying. It seemed as E'rro had it nearly completed and was a few days from being ready for review. Petting the little Bronze head that butted against her cheek Kaegan momentarily let her mind drift to thoughts about the Weyrleader trials. While she had heard rumors of who was planning on joining the trials to represent Selenitas she hadn't gotten an exact list. While she was enjoying the current dynamics, Kaegan worried about who would win the trials. Some of the contestants she knew were entering were not her first choice in possible colleagues.
"Whoa!" Startled out of her musing as E'rro pulled her toward him at the same time she felt something run into her back, the Weyrwoman blinked and glanced up at the Brownrider before looking over her shoulder.
--
"Are you alright Weyrwoman?" Releasing her arm E'rro took a step back with a sigh. "You should be more aware," He paused as he recognized the other person, "as should you I'nos, especially with hot liquids." Once he was assured that Kaegan was fine he excused himself from her company with a nod to her and the other Brownrider.
--
"I'nos, was it?" She asked as E'rro left, turning to face the other rider with a smile. "Its fine, no need to apologize, but is your hand okay?" With two children (often three when Ranthian was around) the art of spilling a drink without getting it on others was not unknown to her. Unfortunately the downside was that you sometimes got the drink on yourself instead. Kaegan adjusted her hair as her Firelizard shifted positions, choosing to curl around her neck to better watch the Brownrider.

I'nos was certain his heart almost stopped when he realized it was the Weyrwoman he very nearly burned with his drink. He felt his face pale and he nodded back to Dragonhealer E'rro respectfully, switching his drink to his other hand and hastily wiping off his now-throbbing hand on his trousers to dry it off. "Indeed, I will be sure to do that in the future."
/Good, because you can't always count on the Weyrwoman to be so gracious./ Tirneth commented dryly. /You do realize that now she'll always associate you as being the rider who ran into her and very nearly spilled food on her, right?/
"I know, but I only feel it's right." I'nos acknowledged her statement and ignored his dragon. "Once again, my sincerest apologies, Weyrwoman Kaegan. I'll have to work on not being so clumsy. And yes, my name is I'nos."
/Like dragon, like rider?/ Tirneth asked coyly.
Shut it, you oversized tunnelsnake. I'nos snapped at him.
"Yes, my hand is fine. A little red, a little sore, but I'll be fine by the next candlemark." He promised her. "And you're fine? No harm done, I hope. It would be a shame for you to be burned by my fault."

With a warm smile she put her hand up with a small wave. "Well if you insist on apologizing, you're forgiven. Please, call me Kaegan, or Weyrwoman if you prefer to stick with titles. Though I can count on a hand the amount of people who actually address me as Weyrwoman consistently. Not even the Inverness Weyrleader calls me Weyrwoman." But she wasn't about to let on they were practically best friends and he hadn't called her anything else since they became friends. She liked it when the regular populous addressed her by name, it usually meant they were comfortable with her being around, and a Weyr who liked their Weyrwoman was more than likely to be extremely loyal to her. Kaegan needed the Weyr to continue to acknowledge her orders over that of her new Junior Weyrwoman. When had she become so bitter? Ah well, it was better to plan a head than be sorry later.
Clearing her throat, the red headed woman showed the Brownrider her arms. "No harm done. Even if a little had gotten on me I've had worse burns." With a toothy grin Kaegan winked at I'nos. "Anyway as I've been abandoned by my oh-so-chatty compatriot, I'm in need of a new dinning companion. Would you be willing to let me join you? If you want you can think of it as paying me back for bumping into me." Truthfully, she didn't want to have to eat alone. It was the first time in a week or so that she had been able to rope her favorite crechewoman Miraed into watching her children and was in sore need of adult conversation. More particularly someone who she didn't see every single day, like K'ian or any of her Wingleaders.

"Kaegan it is, then." I'nos approved. "And I have to say, I agree. I mean, don't get me wrong: I give respect where respect is due, but I could do a lot more in life if I didn't have to worry about a title sometimes. You probably have a good idea how irritating it is to be referred to by it instead of your actual name. Like, my name is not 'Brownrider,' thank you for noticing."
/You are a Brownrider though, so you'd think you'd get used to it./ Tirneth replied.
I thought I told you to hush.
/Whenever has that actually worked?/
Oh go eat a wherry. I'nos snapped. "And that is grand, I'd hate to injure anyone one on account of my stupid clumsiness, least of all you. I'm not clumsy all the time, I promise. Only the most inopportune moments to ever crop up in my life, like now."
I'nos smiled broadly. "And of course you may join me, I'd never turn down such an offer from anyone. Truth be told, I don't like eating by myself. I seem to be doing that a lot lately though; most of my friends were transferred to Inverness and I was left here at Selenitas. Bit unfortunate, really."
