I'nos was walking by himself as Tirneth ate. He would have given anything to be by the brown's side, but he was getting to be a bit too pessimistic for him right now.
Damn right you are, Tirneth snorted from somewhere in the feeding grounds. I'll be joining you shortly. Just let me finish off this buck.
I'nos acknowledged Tirneth's comment with a loving mental brush before continuing to walk and sulk. He really wished he wasn't acting this way. It was so..... unproductive. But he couldn't really help it. Anytime he tried to feel anything positive, he was just...down. It was all Elynael's fault really. She just refused to have anything to do with him when Tirneth was around. So he had a dragon! He considered himself lucky. Not every boy who grew up dreaming of the magnificent beasts were lucky enough to Impress to one. He briefly thought of finding K'nale and Kormath to keep him company before dismissing it. There was absolutely no excuse to burden them with his attitude right now.
There you go again. Tirneth sighed. I really don't like this side of you, I'nos. Where's the fun man I Impressed to? Don't tell me this is about that girl.
It's not! I'nos replied defensively.
It is. Just because she has a problem with me doesn't mean she's got a problem with you. Besides, I've talked to her little wher. Elynask is quite...entertaining, to say the least. Besides, I'm feeding. Get over yourself and confront her. Tirneth almost made it sound like an order. It was a sad day when the dragon that didn't take anything seriously was ordering his Impressed to get over himself.
Yes, it is. Tirneth agreed. Now, go. Elynask is usually with her, but from what I gather, she has no quarrel with you.
It was easier than arguing. The only one that Tirneth ever got stern with was I'nos and it was only when he was in one of his rare moods, which had sadly been cropping up frequently of late. I'nos began to unconsciously (well, he told himself it was an unconscious decision) walk in the direction of Elynael's apartment and he almost collided with her when he turned a corner.
"Hey, watch where you're"- she cut off abruptly. "Ilaxnos..."
"I'nos." he correcter her softly. "Hello Elynael. I..." He faltered. He really didn't want to tell her he'd been about to go see her. It would seem stalkerish, at the least. Tirneth brushed his mind.
"I was just looking for you." he rushed on. "I wanted to talk to you."
"About what?" That was the meanest tone he'd ever heard her use with him.
"About the old days. I wanted to have a sparring match, for old times' sake. What do you say?" he replied lightly.
Elynael cocked her head to the side. "You do realize I'm nocturnal, right? We have entirely different schedules."
I'nos' resolve cracked. "Yeah...but it was just a thought. I miss the knock-down-drag-out fights we used to have."
"Hm..." Elynael replied.
