Physical Appearance;
Elorein is the type to blend in easily with a crowd. Nothing about her is particularly spectacular - she's cute enough but certainly no beauty, no horrible scars or unusual things about her either. She has medium brown hair that hangs in loose waves down to her shoulders, framing an ovular but apple-cheeked face. She has full lips which are usually tilted upwards in a secretive, knowing smile. Like she always knows something her company doesn't and finds it funny. Warm honey brown eyes below low-set but arched brows offset that smile and turn it into something a little more endearing instead. Her nose is a touch on the long side and hooks downward a bit. Due to her life style Elorein is darker in complexion that a lot of Northern people, spending considerably more time in the sun than the average person.
In build Elorein is best described as graceful. She's all faint, swooping curves and delicate-boned features. Her grace comes more from her bearing than her body itself though. She has perfect posture and moves with a self-assured air that seems out of place with her personality. Even just eating or lounging around manages to seem graceful - and an easy gracefullness, at that - when Elorein does it. The quiet authority she seems to possess is still easy enough to overlook until she decides to use it deliberately. One might be able to call her a radiant figure when she stands up tall and uses her whole body to make someone listen to her, damnit.
Elorein isn't picky about clothes simply because she can't afford to be. She does, however, have her preferences. Her prefered style is for comfortably chic things which usually means simple tops and a patterned over-shirt to go with it paired with a durable pair of pants. She has a particularly liking for accesories, namely interesting looking hats, and manages to collect all sorts of them. Outside of her favourite style, this young woman will wear pretty much anything available to her. She's just as comfortable in her usual clothes as in baggy, ratty clothes.
Personality;
Elorein is the epitomy of bubbly cheer. She has a penchant for daydreaming and other mannerisms that tend to get her labelled as vapid or crazy. Or both at once. Though she can display perfect manners Elorein finds it much more preferable to bounce around smiling and laughing her way through life. This is not to say she isn't a bit of an airhead, she most definitely is, but as with most people one facet of her personality is not all of her. Ultimately this bubbly cheer is an expression of her abounding joy of life and kindness towards anyone, even if they are mean to her. Empathy is strong with her, to a ridiculous degree at times. So strong that she can't bring herself to do harm to others.
Even that is not her core, though. The true essence of Elorein is someone both lost and found. Underneath her exterior remains a child who grew up too fast and in the wrong place for her to truly thrive. Running away from home due to what she still sees as a betrayal has left something of an empty spot, a place in her heart that yearns for the comfort of close companionship - in reality she is constantly looking for a new family in which she feels like a perfect fit, she just doesn't believe in the term 'family' anymore. However, Elorein also knows her place in the world even if she doesn't know her place with others. She is a wanderer at heart and genuinely loves every moment of her adventures.
Being the type who goes out of contact with friends for weeks, months, or even years on the rare occasion, it is no real surprise that Elorein values the few that are willing to just pick up where they left off. She is accustomed to, reappearing to a friend she randomly disappeared on, to scorn and anger and other unpleasant reactions. She expects it, even. The few that are okay sticking with her through the thick and thin she goes out of her way to ensure they know they are loved. She always makes gifts for them by hand and she will always come visit for their namedays regardless of how far she wandered from them.
Unfortunately, for all her happy energy and friendliness Elorein is...well, oblivious to her own awkwardness, at best. Elorein just doesn't get - or, alternatively, doesn't care - that randomly spouting her observations about people and their feelings or quirks to the person is not normal. Or even wanted, most of the time. She can, however, be oddly perceptive when it comes to other people. She has a knack for reading attraction especially and likes to play matchmaker. Happily oblivious to why people find her weird, she is still capable of acknowledging that they do. And she's okay with that.
History;
Birth to Marriage (3004-3019)
Elorein was born in Crom Hold only a couple of turns before Thread returned - the world was already well and truly at war by then. This meant that the Lord Holder had already lost much of his power to the lordholders beneath him, one of which was Elorein's father - Elomian, husband to seven wives. Of those seven one was, naturally, Elorein's mother, Horeille. Elorein had a truly ridiculous number of full and half-siblings but she never felt very comfortable with any of them, or either of her parents. In fact, with so many other children the wives barely had time for her and her father...yeah right.
Elorein grew in such a household, maturing rapidly and being sent for ettiquette lessons worthy of a child of her father. She was destined to become a Crom bride one day, after all. The sheltered nature of the Hold kept her from knowing much beyond the basics that there was a war going on but it didn't keep her from dreaming of Pern beyond Crom. Her father ended up arranging a marriage between her and the son of a friend and by the time she was fifteen she was the second wife of one Tuyde. And, well, if Elorein wasn't quite willing to consummate, no one at Crom really cared if the husband just took what he wanted. Elorein became so bad, so sick with it all, that her own husband sent her off to the Healer Hall rather than deal with her.
Healer Hall (3019-3021)
There Elorein began to have regular sessions with a mindhealer who, among other things, suggested trying out for some kind of craft as something else to focus on. Elorein was quite unwilling to leave Fort Hold though so she ended up as an unofficial apprentice to the mindhealer - more just a helpful pair of hands around the place and at the mindhealer's home. Sometime during her stay, Elorein encountered Vikenti while having something of a panic attack. Much to her surprise, his sheer grumpiness in asking if she was alright actually brought a smile to her face. Through him she also met his friend Matteo and the three inexplicably bonded, each of them damaged but somehow willing to take the risk together.
When Vikenti and Matteo moved on to Benden Hold in 3020, Elorein wasn't quite ready to leave the Healer Hall. While they moved on she remained behind for another turn before her father tracked her down once again in 3021, revealing the fact that her husband had essentially sold her back to her family and that she would be sent to the weyrs when they had clutches. The world had evidentally changed a lot more after the war than she was initially aware. Finally feeling more herself than she had in a long time, Elorein ran from the Healer Hall instead. She ran from her own family who were once again trying to dictate her life.
Moving On (3022-present)
Life on the road wasn't easy, but most of the time it was fun. She still had a couple triggers but so long as she avoided them she was good. You know, minus food shortages and Thread danger. Elorein eventually drifted to Benden Hold where she knew Vikenti and Matteo - long since Vicky and Mattie to her - to be. She reuinted with them and was surprised to find that despite a turn of not keeping in contact with them much they were still her friends. She could not, however, bring herself to stay in one place any longer. They didn't want her to go but Elorein had fallen too much in love with the simple act of wandering. Benden was her homebase though, without a doubt she would always manage to return there...eventually.
