It was kind of an accident, honestly. He'd come to visit Erilena since she was an old classmate and one of the few he genuinely liked from their class when he ran into Kyr'n. He would have thought the morning shift for watchdragons was still on but he must have misjudged the time. The sun was bright, far too bright to look at for too long and the sky was clear despite the January weather. A nice southern-brand winter day all around, really. Just his luck to run into his ex in such a huge place. Like...really. Was something out to get him?
He shook himself out of his internal musings as he half-slid down Chakraith's side where Kyr'n was...waiting? Fair enough, less than two months ago they had been together with a pattern of breaking up and getting back together. It wasn't unthinkable that Kyr'n might have thought he had come back to beg the greenrider or something. Not that Dy'shi was outright believing such an unbelievable imaginary scene but the begging on his part had happened before. Once, maybe twice, during the Great War when Dy'shi was putting it all on the line for the sake of a happy future. When he'd needed the support more than his pride. But he was done with all that now.
Sheya wasn't though. Upon recognizing Kyr'n she let out a pleasant flute and flashed a remembered image of her bonded bathing right at the greenrider. This, naturally, set Khippei off in the same old dog-and-pony show as always. The blue started shrieking and zipping around - and if he got a touch too close to Kyr'n's head, well, Dy'shi was his much adored His - the pair of riders. Dy'shi was already forming a headache from it all. He really should have left them behind but he'd been too slow to escape the pair. Oh well.
Coughing slightly in embarassment, Dy'shi decided to at least greet Kyr'n. Not that more than a couple seconds had passed since he'd dismounted. His firelizards had a penchant for causing chaos in a surprisingly short amount of time. "Hello, Kyr'n. I hope the Watch went well?" He did, too. Just because they broke up with an unpleasant, bitter aftertaste didn't mean Dy'shi hated his ex. He may not be completely over him...if he ever was in love in the first place but he definitely didn't blame the greenrider for being a pain in the ass.

Kyr'n was leaning against a wall, waiting for Chakraith to land. He wasn't sure why he was bothering. He didn't think seeing Dy'shi again so soon would change anything. Whatever they'd had, for better or worse, was over now. Dwelling on the past, not to mention getting close to anyone, had never been important for Kyr'n. It was Yeomenth who insisted he come, as soon as she noted the female blue was coming. To keep you from sulking every day. Kyr'n didn't think he was sulking, but apparently he was grumpy enough to get on Yeomenth's nerves, which didn't take much. Yeomenth had been cranky ever since they'd moved. Not enough handsome bronzes for her to manipulate, Kyr'n guessed.
Kyr'n scowled as Dy'shi's fire lizards came first, trying to wave the creatures off with his hands. He didn't expect it to work, but it was an old habit by now. Jakemo came out of his place on a shoulder, to pose dramatically on Kyr'n's head. Jakemo greet, soft heart! he declared for everyone's benefit, using the nickname he'd picked for Dy'shi. Welcome to home of Jakemo! Kyr'n rolled his eyes. None of his efforts to curb the salamandyrs ego had worked and Yeomenth wasn't any help either.
He offered Dy'shi a wave, grunting in response to his question and nodding. Watch almost always went well, even quiet. He had a feeling the holders and other residents preferred to wait for Erilena to see them if they could. After an awkward pause, Kyr'n finally sighed. He couldn't stay grumpy all the time, even now. "It's quiet enough," he answered. "I trust you and Chakraith are well?"

Dy'shi scowled a little at Kyr'n's long since learned habit of batting at his firelizards. Truly, they weren't in any real danger but the bluerider was just a little touchy about threats to the ones he cared about, especially after some close calls battling in the Great War turns ago. Sheya retired to his left shoulder with a bit of a sad flute and her little mind brushed against Kyr'n's apologetically. She never meant to irritate others when attempting to pair Hers up with them but Kyr'n always reacted rather negatively. Truly surprising to the green because she would have thought a single taste of Hers as a mate would have kept any male hooked. Oh well.
Khippei settled with a little hiss on Dy'shi's opposite shoulder, content for the moment to mourn over the ruined morning. Awkwardness just wasn't acceptable, no! Dy'shi smiled faintly at the greeting from the greenrider's salamandyr. "Greetings Jakemo. Uh...thanks?" He offered a little uncertainly. Apparently the whole Hold now belonged to the blue? It was a little amusing. Also amusing was that Kyr'n had been bonded to such a cheery little fellow for so long and not had any noticeable bleed-over. Then again, Dy'shi was usually a happy enough sort and even he had little effect on the wall of grump that was Kyr'n.
All considered, the grunt for an answer wasn't all that surprising and the bluerider was still fluent enough in Kyr'nian to understand the meaning. The awkward pause wasn't all that awkward from his end since he expected it too. The only real surprise to the man was the addition to Kyr'n's answer. Dy'shi really couldn't help the grin that lifted the corners of his mouth, the tanned skin around his runner brown eyes crinkling in something close to delight. "That's good to hear. We've been well...I kind of feel bad saying this but...not much going on these days, really. Hard not to be good." Unless you count coming out of a couple turn old relationship, but Dy'shi hadn't been thinking of that as much lately.

Kyr'n nodded politely. He'd expected as much and it was just as well too. It was much better to have things quiet and normal than shook up like during the war. Safer too and less work for people like him. Though he had to admit to a certain amount of boredom of late. He supposed he could visit the Weyr more often to pass the time, but what was the point? He didn't think he could manage too many more conversations with ex-partners.
"What brings you here?" he asked at last. He admitted he was mildly curious, since he didn't think Dy'shi had come to see him. He could be wrong of course, but it wasn't like Dy'shi was short of friends. Kyr'n was the one who had a short list of those. Jakemo had no such trouble, however, and was delighted to have an audience. Soft heart is welcome! he declared in response to Dy'shi's thanks. The bright blue salamandyr did a little twist so that his head was almost upside down and grinned happily. Come to see Jakemo? he asked hopefully. After all, could there be any other reason?

Dy'shi was momentarily distracted so he only flashed Kyr'n a simple smile at his polite nod while Chakraith informed him, If I am no longer required, I shall head up to the dragon heights so that I am no longer in the way. Alright, thanks Chak. The female blue gave Hers a gentle nudge before shuffling backwards far enough that she wouldn't mess too much with the balance of the humans when she took to the air. She spread her wings and gave a little jump to get her airborne, beating her wings to give her lift. The blue went and settled on the nicely warmed dragon stones. She was too graceful to be considered sprawling but she certainly had as much of her touching the sun heated stones as possible.
With the blue gone and his firelizards alternately moping or listening quietly(ish) on his shoulders, Dy'shi could properly focus on Kyr'n and his brown eyes had already refocused on the man when he spoke. He winced a little at Jakemo's added question because of the feelings of guilt it inspired. Dy'shi didn't like to make people feel upset but he really hadn't come just to see Kyr'n's salamandyr. "I'm afraid not this time, Jakemo." Though he addressed the salamandyr he was looking at Kyr'n to let him know he was answering his question as well. "I came to see Erilena and her family, you know them right?" The necklace he almost always wore with a piece of Chakraith's egg in it had been a gift from the woman for graduation.
Dy'shi considered his next words for a moment before mentally shrugging and deciding to just go with it. "Now that I'm here I'm glad I got to see you," he told the salamandyr, eyes tracking back to the blue. "What ever would I do if I forgot your nickname for me?" Because soft heart? Kind of an adorable name to be called, if a little emasculating. Dy'shi had never had much male pride to begin with though, at least none that could be shaken by having an all too true nickname given to him by a salamandyr.

Kyr'n watched Chakraith leave without comment. Maybe Yeomenth would chat with her to ease her own boredom. She often complained about the lack of civilized company away from the Weyr. He turned back to Dy'shi as the younger man answered his question, nodding politely. He'd thought as much. Erilena did seem to be a pretty popular woman. Jakemo hung his head sadly and turned away with a dramatic drooping of tail and frill. Unwanted! Unloved! Poor Jakemo! Sad Jakemo! he declared.
Kyr'n rolled his eyes and pulled the salamandyr off his head and back to his shoulder. "You are making an unnecessary scene," he scolded promptly. It was an old complaint and one Jakemo never took to heart. Dy'shi was likely used to his antics by now, though. "Yes, of course I know them," he answered, turning back to the visitor. It was somewhat hard to avoid knowing her under the circumstances.
He was about to offer Dy'shi some direction to find Erilena, when his next works came. He paused, blinking. He was actually glad to hear that, if only a little. Not that he was in the mood to have Dy'shi leap into his arms, but it was nice not to be fighting he supposed. I must be getting soft myself, he thought darkly. "You too," he agreed finally. "It is nice...that is." Jakemo frilled up happily again. Very nice! Yes! Yes! he chimed.
Yeomenth circled down next to Chakraith's chosen spot. She landed gracefully and easily, no longer needing the focus she had required as a weyrling. She settled comfortably on the warm stones, though she still sat erect and proud. Good day, Chakraith. Yours is well I trust? Normally she wouldn't have bothered to ask, but Kyr'n was right. She was bored! Besides, Chakraith had proven to be good for conversation in the past.

Dy'shi found himself watch Kyr'n rather carefully, curious about his reactions to him wanting to visit Erilena and not the other greenrider. He didn't really see much of anything regarding that piece of information though. If anything Kyr'n's reaction was that of an amiable acquaintance's according to Dy'shi's standards. The man found it a bit difficult to shrug off the disappointment but he didn't let it show. Instead he winced a little at Jakemo's spiel. Not that he hadn't gotten used to such declarations in the past but the bluerider took those kinds of things to heart anyway.
Heh, of course he knew Erilena. The wording amused him because Erilena was a fairly popular lady and Selenitas Hold only had so many dragonriders. They were bound to meet every now and then. Dy'shi's thoughts and faint smile were interrupted by Kyr'n's surprised reaction to his words. Well...had the greenrider been expecting Dy'shi to dislike seeing him or something? Attraction had come after interest in Kyr'n as a person and not the other way around. At the very least, Dy'shi also liked to at least act civil when he could manage to. And hey, Jakemo was back! The combination of things made Dy'shi smile brightly. "What are you guys up to now?"
Chakraith had been simply watching the trees sway with what breeze there was when her peripherals caught a shadow and she heard the sound of wings. Turning her head to see who it was the blue wasn't entirely surprised to discover Yeomenth landing next to her. Fair skies, Yeomenth, she responded pleasantly, Mine is well, yes. As, I hope, is Yours?" From what she could sense through Hers Yeomenth's was quite well but it was only polite to actually ask rather than just assume.
