In all honesty, Eselda was lonely. Nogoth wasn't talking to her, the green had been not at all amused by her jibe about the green's girth. Who knew dragon's would be so sensitive about their body type? It was strange, the disconnect between the pair was apparent, even as the green ferried her rider down towards the feeding grounds. The green landed rather abruptly, not even bothering to fold her wings, because as soon as Eselda slid down to the grown, Nogoth was in the air again, in pursuit of a midday snack.
Eselda couldn't help think that Nogoth was being a bit unfair, the dragon teased her all the time, and she never got upset. After five years of being dragon and rider, one would think that they could have a bit of playful banter without one of them getting upset. Nogoth, I'm sorry, will you please stop ignoring me? No, the dragon snapped back before closing her mind off from the young woman. Well that wasn't very nice at all! Eselda didn't tend to pout, it wasn't much fun after all, so she decided to find another outlet for her frustration. Today, that outlet would be running.
She was sure that she would have looked quite funny, but quite frankly, who cared? Sure she wasn't the most graceful of runners, but it seemed to be a great way to let out frustration, so run she would. You look like a frightened wherry. Eselda rolled her eyes, but didn't slow her pace. Talking to me again? Not yet. Come on Nogoth, pl- “Oh!” Eselda stopped mid thought as she plowed into somebody-obviously she hadn't been paying enough attention to her surroundings. “I'm so sorry!”

Chakraith sat back from her meal as Sheya and Khippei decided to mooch off her carcass. The blue didn't mind since she was satisfied with her food anyway. Besides, it would save Hers the work of feeding them later if they ate. The blue watched the firelizards pick off the strips of flesh that her large jaws missed for a few moments before picking herself up sluggishly and moving over to one of the many large rocks to lay on top of it. The south never got truly cold but the sun warmed rock was a welcome change from the slight chill that she could feel when the wind blew.
The blue watched a green arrive and deposit her rider before hunting down some food for herself. Chakraith felt no need to approach the green first though so she only politely informed Dy'shi about the arrival of others. He had previously been lounging in the grass outside of the feeding pens. Who is it? He asked, much too comfortable to get up just then to see. I am unfamiliar with this pair's names but I do recognize them as Selenitas riders, was the blue's even-toned response, her voice beginning to get thick with post-eating sleepiness.
The bluerider groaned a little quietly. Chances were that he might know who it was then, if only by appearance as well. Dy'shi was a friendly sort and liked getting to know new people. As he was almost standing from his prone position, however, Esleda plowed right into him. Had the warrior of the Great War been prepared he probably could have held his ground but as it was the small man was knocked right back onto his ass again. Dy'shi grunted at the impact but otherwise smiled up at the woman. "Well, hello to you too. Always a pleasure to be knocked on the ground."

Nogoth looked up from her kill just in time to see Eselda ram straight into a man shorter than her. The green's nostral's flared in amusement, but instead of addressing her silly human, she arched her neck in search for the man's dragon- even from this distance she could see the rider's knots. Ahh, there he was, the blue dragon was, perched upon a large rock. Or more correctly, there she was. The green had heard about the strange she-blue, but had never met her. Curious, Nogoth snapped up the remaining bits of her kill that were strewn unceremoniously on the ground before taking flight once more, this time towards the sunning rocks.
The dragon landed rather suddenly, claws skittering across the hard surface, searching for a foot hold, before righting her self. Nogoth folded her wings, confident that if the she-blue was determined to be unfriendly that she could take her on, on the ground. After all, Nogoth was easily as large as the blue.
Eselda on the other hand, was not quite as composed as her dragon. She struggled to come up with an appropriate response, and ended up snapping to attention in an awkward salute to the older rider, while trying to help him up as well. She had been trying to grab him firmly under the arm and hoist him to his feet, but realizing that the action might be unwelcome, she let go once again, and whatever progress had been made by her tugging was undone. “I generally don't push people down,” she managed to get out, waiting for some form of reprimand. Years after graduating from her weyrling class, it seemed that some of the mannerisms, mainly showing respect for authority, seemed to have stuck with her. “I'm Eselda of Nogoth,” the young woman said, trying to determine if she should join him on the ground or attempt to help him get back up again.

Chakraith was not unused to strangers coming up to her out of simple curiosity. She knew herself to be rather easy to identify from basic descriptions and there were many rumours about her unusual mutation. Going on ten turns was clearly not enough for her case to ever become normal to those that had been around when she broke shell. It was reasonable, then, to assume three years was hardly enough for those who had been North before the end of the war and moved to Selenitas afterwards to let stories of her die down. Nevermind the people of Inverness that occasionally heard of her either. So yes, Chakraith was used to it.
Didn't make Nogoth's landing near her any less startling. The blue's drooping eyelids lifted and alarmed yellow drifted through briefly, though muted as always by her preternatural calm. Her eyes quickly settled back into a pleasant blue several shades lighter than her hide, flecks of green lighting and vanishing like dying stars when she realized what must have occured. I do not wish to assume, so instead I shall ask - do you approach because you've heard of me from others? If you have than I will assume my name did not get passed on - as it rarely is - and I tell you now, my name is Chakraith. Fair skies. Her tone was not accusatory - if anything it was a bit rueful at her eternal predicament - but calm and inviting instead.
Dy'shi was...baffled by Eselda, at best. Due to his short stature and young age for such a long-time rider he rarely expected people to treat him as their senior and even more rarely got that response at all. More than the salute the bluerider was confused by the aborted assistance. Surely he didn't smell that much? Wrinkling his nose a bit at the very idea of being stinky the bluerider helped himself up from the crouch Eselda had helped him into and into which he had fallen back into when she released him. "I'll take your word for it, Eselda of Nogoth," Dy'shi said, almost teasingly. "No harm, no foul." The bluerider proceeded to dust himself off with quick brushes of his hands and smiled disarmingly at the ruffled greenrider. "Dy'shi, of Chakraith."

Nogoth did not appreciate that her intentions had been realized so easily; the green moved closer towards the blue dragon, squaring her shoulders and tail dragging languidly behind her. It is true I find you strange, but that is not why I approached. Lies. Nogoth moved her head in closer towards Chakraith's head in a manner that could be perceived as threatening, but that was not the green's intentions. She just wanted a closer look at the she-blue.
I wish to talk. It seems that mine has knocked your human over, and if she does not have the brains to apologize. Is your's hurt? I am Nogoth. The green settled into an ungainly crouch and curled her large wings around her body, before craning her neck towards her human. She seemed to be making a right fool of herself, serves her right.
Eselda was never tongue tied, which made her loss for words a very unusual event indeed. When she finally found her tongue, she jutted her lip out and said plaintively, "I really don't, swear!" Well, Dy'shi seemed like a pleasant person, and the greenrider had been looking for company, but really, pleasantries were not Eselda's forte. She liked to dive head first into conversations, but she decided against it- she would rather not scare him off just yet. "It's nice to meet you Dy'shi, I wish I could say your face is familiar to me, but then I would be fibbing." Truly Eselda wondered how she hadn't noticed him before, his cheerful face seemed like one she would remember. "How are does your dragon fair? I hope he's in good health" Nogoth chose not to correct her, and instead was content to watch Eselda blunder.

Chakraith tilted her head ever so slightly at the answer to her question, trying to judge the truth in the green's words. The blue wouldn't bet one way or another but she took the other female at her word and brushed Nogoth's mind in understanding rather than words for the green seemed a bit preoccupied. With getting up close and personal. The ever calm blue's reaction was simply to watch Nogoth curiously. It was not often that Chakraith had anyone get quite so close in their examinations of her without asking. Most did not feel comfortable doing so anyway - out of politeness sometimes or something considerably less pleasant, such as disgust.
I see, She responded to Nogoth's reason for approaching her in the first place. The blue followed the green's line of sight to Hers and Nogoth's. Mine has taken no harm. Thank you for the concern...for both of your's. Yours seems quite concerned over Mine as well - one cannot be angry for a blunder that is clearly regretted. The female blue's voice was even and forgiving though she had never been upset or angry about it at all. She and Hers had been through a war, he could stand to handle being knocked on his ass.
Dy'shi chuckled at her further assertion that she really didn't go around knocking people down. "I'm pretty easily missed," Dy'shi commented with faint amusement, "kinda short'n all." His amusement was quickly replaced by happy surprise though. Someone who didn't know about Chakraith by sight! It alternately annoyed and pleased him when people didn't know. On one hand, informing them that Chakraith was actually female often got annoying or people had ill reactions to the knowledge. On the other, it was kind of fun to reveal her mutation. "She, actually. Chakraith is doing as well as ever."

Nogoth recoiled slightly as she felt the mind brush from the blue. The green thought it was strange, that her mind didn't feel well... strange. In fact, Chakriath's mind felt as normal as any other dragon's. The green flared her nostrils slightly, and sank to the ground in front of the she-blue, and silently began cleaning her talons, getting rid of the last bits of stringy meet that had lodged its way in between them.
Nogoth tilted her head, fixing her left eye on Eselda's attempts to make amends. That is good to here, she drawled, sounding more disinterested than she actually was. At the mention of how concerned her rider was, Nogoth bulged softly. Yes, well, that's to be expected. Mine tends to be quite idiotic at times, and it looks like this is one of them. The green looked up at the blue, and motioned lazily with her tail towards the riders. See?
Meanwhile, Eselda had fallen into her habit of shooting off her mouth without thinking. When Dy'shi mentioned his height, she nodded in agreement. "Yea, you are kinda short." A few seconds later she internalized a groan. Well, if he wasn't upset earlier, then there was a pretty good chance he was now. People tended to be touchy about their physical appearance, Nogoth certainly was. But then again, maybe not this rider seemed like a pretty friendly guy. All thoughts on that matter were banished from her head when hearing his next statement. "She? Don't you ride a blue?" Eselda glanced at his knots, yep, definitely a blue rider. She had heard of such a case where a blue had been born with a mutation making him a her, but they were half forgotten and she couldn't remember even which weyr the blue live. Well perhaps now she had a name for the story, Chakraith. "It's good that she is well. Nogoth is being, moody, quite the baby actually. Aren't you Nogoth," Eselda called, raising her voice and pitching towards the dragons. The green pointedly ignored Eselda and turned her head.

Chakraith wondered at the recoil the green exhibited. It was pretty unheard of for Chakraith to disturb others beyond her mutation and Nogoth seemed to be taking it quite well considering this was their first meeting. Assuming it was...Chakraith's memory was exceptional for a dragon but all dragons eventually forgot without assistance. She discreetly slipped her consciousness deeper into the bond with her rider in search of any memories of an Eselda - for she gleaned the other rider's name there - or Nogoth but found none. So yes, first meeting.
Chakraith had an easier line of the site than the green to the riders so her gaze kept flicking there occasionally, though it was always hard to tell line of site with a dragon. Many humans seem to have their moments to make mistakes. As do dragons, though, was Chakraith's comment on that matter, specifically avoiding using the word 'stupid.' There was no call for it in the blue's mind, but then she never judged at first, second, or even third impression. That was so thoroughly limiting. She was more curious as to why the green was apparently upset with Hers. What has you so upset with Yours, if I may ask?
Dy'shi chuckled, partly taken aback at the agreement and partly amused at the frankness. No point in getting sore about his height, really, when what pride he had was never based on his growth rates. "I do. Chakraith! If you wouldn't mind?" The blue had long grown used to demonstrating. It was easier than Dy'shi trying to explain. Greetings Nogoth's, she said in her clear, very obviously feminine voice. Dy'shi shrugged once the blue brushed his mind when she was done. "See? Anyway, there's probably a reason Nogoth's being...moody."

Nogoth was blunt and callous, and perhaps that's why she had a hard time making friends. Her tone often sounded scathing, because that's what it was. Over the years, nothing seemed to have curved her personality that she had been born with, which is perhaps why the fact that Chakarith hadn't tried to make a quick escape yet was strange to her. Even stranger yet that the blue seemed to actually be engaged in the conversation. So mystified was Nogoth that she almost failed to here the she-blue's question.
Upon comprehension, Nogoth brought her wings tightly around herself, and wound her tail around her legs. She called me... fat, the green said woefully, dejection apparent in her tone. For a dragon who liked to tell it was, she was very sensitive about her size. Of course it wasn't her fault that she was easily the size of a blue, but it didn't matter. Nogoth knew she was being hypocritical, she teased her rider constantly. But that didn't matter much to the green as she wallowed pathetically in her self pity.
Eseleda's face broke out on a smile as she felt Chakraith brush her mind. "Hello," she chirped back, twisting so she could see the blue resting languidly near Nogoth. "She sounds lovely Dy'shi," she said, turning back to the rider. Her smile faded somewhat at his next assertion. He was right of course, but really Nogoth was being ridiculous. "It's nothing really, we were just messing around. I always forget that dragon's can be as sensitive about their appearance as humans. I dunno, she just freaks every time I mention her size." Eselda knew that she was looking for reassurance from Dy'shi, but perhaps she didn't deserve. Was it possible that she had gone to far this time?
