Mine? Yes? Feather is stuck in a pot… again. One would think that after turns of being blind, that his flit would have realized that his large pot of cotton was /not/ a good place to sleep. Normally he wouldn't be in such a hurry but no one in the infirmary was able to get into his office, only he and Raebeli had a key and she wasn't on shift today. Plus his schedule was completely full with wing trainings and infirmary shifts, so he only had a few hours of free time which he didn't really want to spend rescuing his Green from a cotton prison. How did she even get there in the first place! Sometimes he almost wished he could order Nuisance to keep an eye on Feather but he couldn't. He already stretched the Blue's favor by asking if he'd watch her when they were together. It wouldn't do to be in Nui's debt. His mandyr might act silly but behind that exterior is a sneaky little creature who'd collect on that debt.
Sighing as he literally leaped over a random ass chest being moved from one place to another, he yelled at the people moving it to hurry up. Having lived at New Selenitas for over six turns, the Healer knew almost every passageway, hallway and corner in the place. But even the knowledge that the next bend was a blind corner didn’t stop him from taking the corner at a jog and...
SLAM.
Falling back onto his ass like the suave person he was, the Brownrider made an unsightly noise before exclaiming, "Well fuck! Arrggh… Sorry. My fault." By the first egg and all that was Dragonborn, his face felt like he had slammed it into a wall. He rarely experienced this sudden shock of pain outside practice fighting so it took him a few moments to recover. Putting a shirt sleeve to his mouth to stop the blood flowing freely from his lip, E'rro glanced up to see who exactly he had run into. And of course it was K'ian. Farnath only knew that it would be that particular Bronzer he had to slam his forehead into. The Brownrider grimaced as he noticed the other man was bleeding from his nose… a lot.

It was a little sad that K’ian had hurt himself sparring with a seven year old. In his defense, he had been trying to hold back. Probably a little too much. So that when the boy struck out at him, the blade he was holding went right back and sliced the bronzerider’s hand open. Of course he had kept going, ignoring the pain and hiding the blood long enough to finish his session. He was just pleased that his son was finally showing an interest in actually being his son. He just let all that override his common sense.
You know, the common sense that said not to keep going after you’ve just had your hand sliced open.
After sending the boy off to shower and then do whatever he wanted to do – no doubt he’d go find Kai or some other kid to spend time with – K’ian had made his way to the infirmary, Romeoth laughing in his mind the entire way.How did you even accomplish that? I didn’t know that was even /possible/. The tall bronzer ignored his dragon with gritted teeth, the cloth he’d tied to his hand crimson with blood, but at least the wound was no longer bleeding…or was it? He hadn’t untied the cloth long enough to actually look at it.
He was so busy trying to ignore Romeoth, who was still laughing at him, that he hadn’t noticed the other man flying around the bend until he’s slammed right into him. K’ian froze as E’rro’s face collided with his chin, the force of which causing him to fall right back onto his ass. “Goddammit!”
It took him several seconds to notice a few things. One, the man who had run into him was none other than E’rro. He had tried to befriend the man in the past, but he hadn’t seemed interested. Which sucked for K’ian, because he just wanted to be liked. Though, he understood how hard that would be for some people because of his past. Second, he realized that there was a copious amount of blood running down his face. A hand lifted, fingers twitching to his face, touching his nose. A sharp stab of pain accompanied the touch, and he hissed lightly.
K’ian eyed the brownrider for a moment. “E’rro?” He asked after a second. “ What the hell was so important…” The man’s eyes widened. “Someone dying or something?” He knew the man was a healer, that was really the extent of his knowledge. Realizing that his humor probably wouldn’t by that well received, K’ian lifted the bloody rag that was still tied to his hand and pressed it against his nose. Pain caused him to grunt, but he couldn’t get the blood to stop flowing.
“I think I’m going to bleed to death.” He said nonchalantly, like he was talking about the weather as he curiously examined the cloth tied to his hand like it was the most interesting thing in the world. K’ian certainly had a penchant for dramatics.

Are you alright? I'm fine, just busted my lip. As per usual, the other guy has it worse. Getting to his feet, the Brownrider closed the five foot distance from where he was to K'ian's side before crouching down. "No one is dying." He produced a thick handkerchief from his pocket. "My blind flit is trapped in a bowl in my locked office. She can't between without help so I was on my way to help her. Let me see your nose." Reaching across and hooking the opposite side of the Bronzerider's chin with two of his fingers, E'rro prompted the man to look at him. He gently touched the side of K'ian's nose briefly and watched how the other man reacted. Well if that didn't look like a broken nose he didn't know what did. The quickly forming bruise above his right eye twinged in sympathy. "Here. It will hurt, but hold this to your nose and look down." He offered the handkerchief to the man. "Bad news, looks like I broke your nose. Good news, I can fix it and give you things to make it feel like it isn't." Sometimes being a Healer had pretty good benefits.
Standing up, E'rro offered his hand to K'ian so the other man could stand up. "Looks like you were going to the Infirmary anyway," He'd noticed that some of the blood on his handrag had started to brown a little. "Guess I'll be skipping my break. Come on. I'll save my flit then get you patched up." He paused. "Oh and, no, you're not going to bleed to death." Once he had his hand back, the Healer wiped the blood from his lip away again. "Remember, pressure and head down." Turning, he made sure K'ian was following him as he lead the way to the Infirmary.
"Oh cool, did you guys have a fight?"
Raising an eyebrow at the apprentices who immediately flocked to them, E'rro shoo'd them away. "No, we had an accident. Get me a cautery rod, fresh cloths and bandages, and numbweed mixed with aconite. And you, find Feather." E'rro tossed the girl the key to his office. "She's the bowl." He showed K'ian where to sit and looked back at the hesitating apprentices. "I know I'm the dragonhealer, but Raebeli isn't here and its my fault this happened, plus I'm not waiting for this to be dealt with, so go." The last word was an audible growl that sent the apprentices flying in all different directions. And it wasn't like he didn't have a Senior Journeyman rank in Healing or anything, he just wasn't allowed to use it often, not that he followed that rule all the time. He turned back to the Bronzerider. "Lets see, has the bleeding stopped?"

“Oh.” K’ian said dumbly at E’rro’s explanation. What really had the healer running at a dead sprint to the infirmary was much less dramatic than someone dying…which was probably good, all things considered. Wrinkling his nose hurt, and he ignored the pain long enough to swipe his arm across his nose, which did nothing for the actual blood running down his face. It only served to hurt him more, and smear blood all over his arm and shirt and face. At the healer’s urging, part of him wanted to act like a child and refuse to let him see his face.
But then it’d be his fault if E’rro left without treating it.
And his nose hurt a lot. Sure, the thought of him doing anything to it at all made it hurt more, but it’d be better to get it fixed, right?
So he let the man turn his head and examine his nose. K’ian let out a laugh that hurt far too much. “Sounds like Mouse. She’s stupid enough to get caught in something and not be able to get out.” K’ian wasn’t the biggest fan of his salamandyr…at all. She seemed to love choosing salamandyrs in her runs who had male owners…which sucked for K’ian. Especially since it meant that he was always the female in the equation. Which was a real blow to his masculinity, thanks. Her stupidity amused him at times though.
His brows furrowed when E’rro said his nose was broken. That sounded seriously. He was about to ask the healer how he was going to fix it when the man gave him his hand and K’ian was on his feet again. He held the handkerchief to his nose, tilting his head downwards and following the man. “Thahnks.” He said thickly through a broken nose and the handkerchief on his face. He realized that he’d forgotten to keep his head down, but as the apprentices came to them, K’ian quirked a grin that hurt, but he was all ready to tell them that they had been in a fight…even though it meant that K’ian would be the one who’d lost.
He pouted at this thought, following the man into the infirmary and taking the seat offered, watching him curiously while holding the cloth to his face. “Whads a caudery rod?” he asked warily, watching the apprentice run off. “I don like the sound of dat.” The bronzer blinked at the back of the kid’s head.
The man pulled the bloody cloth away from his face to let the healer have a look, still eying the apprentices running around. K’ian didn’t like infirmaries …or healers much. It sucked that there were things he couldn’t deal with himself. Not that he was actually rude to them when he did have to go. He just preferred not to have to go. "Cannye 'ave some of dose 'things' that make mah nose feel like it isn't broken now?" He asked with a chuckle that jarred his nose.
Fuck it.

Inspecting K'ian's nose, E'rro nodded slightly before walking over to the nearest wash station to scrub his hands clean. He returned just as one of the apprentices appeared with the tray of items he requested. "Well, lets get your nose cleaned and numbed before I tell you what a cautery rod does." The Brownrider quirked a smile as he set the tray down next to K'ian on the raised exam bench. Taking a cloth he dipped it in the small bowl of diluted redwart solution then applied it gently to either side of K'ian's nose with quick a swipe as he could manage without causing to much pain. "Sorry. Okay, this," He picked up the small applicator who was submerged in a paste, "Is numbweed mixed with a painkiller. So hold still, I don't want to get this all over the place." Leaning in, E'rro applied it on and slightly around K'ian's injury. "Now we wait. As soon as it starts to go numb, tell me."
Using a towel he wiped a small bit of the numbweed off of his finger. "Since your nose was bleeding pretty seriously, it means that a large blood vessel was broken and is now exposed. After I reset your nose, I will use the cautery rod to close the bloodvessels and stop the bleeding. It shouldn't be too painful, not when your nose goes completely numb." Speaking of blood... he folded up a small piece of bandage and pressed it against the hole in his lip. "I'll look at your hand after we get your nose all settled." Removing the gauze from his lip to look at the amount of blood, E'rro sighed and reapplied it. "Doesn't look like you're having a good day at all."

The bronzerider gave the apprentice a good hard glare when he returned with the tray. He didn’t recognize what was on it right away, but it sure looked ominous. K’ian hated healers, hated to admit that there wasn’t something he could take care of himself; hated giving control away like that so completely, and not knowing what was going to happen to him…it just made him slightly irritable.
Gaze jerked to E’rro when the man started talking to him. “Whyyyy?” He said at length, just giving the man a look. “Wow, doc. That doesn’t sound very good at all.” But it’s all he said before the man started work on his nose, cleaning it with the redwart. K’ian hissed slightly in pain, but he didn’t flinch away. He wasn’t a baby, goddammit, he was a tough man! Yeah…right. It still hurt like a bitch.
His eye lit up when E’rro held up the numbweed. He didn’t struggle at all as the man applied it to his nose. He couldn’t wait for the fucking pain to just go away, but in the meantime, E’rro was explaining to him about the cautery rod. He lifted an eyebrow and laughed. The laugh jarred his nose, but it didn’t hurt as much as it had before. The numbweed was obviously working…but slowly. “I’m glad you gave me this stuff then.” He said with a weak chuckle. “That definitely doesn’t sound like something I’d want to feel.”
K’ian licked his lips, watching the other man carefully. He really should have watched where he was going more. Being as tall as he was, it was damn easy to just bowl people over without realizing it. The man tilted his head, trying to offer E’rro a pleasant enough grin. “Hey man, sorry about your lip. You should take care of that before this.” He motioned to his own injury with a sweep of a hand. “Not like I’m in any danger of bleeding out anymore thanks to you.” He listened to the other man’s words with a shrug. “ Not too bad.” He lifted his hand, peeling the cloth off to look at the cut. It wasn’t bleeding, but it was raised and red and swollen. He smartly poked at it with a finger. “I had accident in a sparring match with my…son.” There was a hesitation before he’d said “son”, like he wasn’t used to it…and really, he wasn’t. “I get hurt a lot…if you can believe that.” He said with a laugh. Then he looked up again. “How about your firelizard. Is she okay?”

E'rro waved his hand dismissively. "Its fine. I should have remembered the blind turn, even at a jog the corner is dangerous. I'll have one of the interns patch me up later. I'm sure one or two would love to poke and prod at my wound for payback." When K'ian peeled back the cloth around his hand, the Brownrider eyed it before picking up a clean bandage pad and handing it to the other man. "Doesn't look infected, or deep enough for stitches. We'll clean it and butterfly stitch it." He paused. "Butterfly stitches are pieces of stiff cloth we glue on with ging to hold the edges of the cut together." E'rro glanced at a marked candle that was burning nearby. "Oh yes, I heard about that from Kai. What was his name, Ranthian?" He was good at remembering names. "Perhaps its not a good idea to spar with a child who has just been sent to live with you after not having seen you for turns, hm?" The Brownrider glanced back at K'ian, having little spies around the weyr in the form of Riaren and his friends was helpful at times. "And Feather is fine. She's resting comfortably in the pocket of my healer's coat."
Another look at the candle told him it was time to take off the numbweed. And that he did, gently even though the Bronzerider shouldn't feel much more than a mild burning sensation at the worst. Once he got all of the mixture off he cleaned off his hands again. "I'm going to reset your nose, you should feel pressure and maybe a slight pop. The pain will be minimal to bearable. It will take less than a second. Ready?" He waited for K'ian's permission then swiftly grabbed the man's nose and made a quick pull and tilt motion, feeling the cartilage go back into place under his fingers. E'rro was also prepared for the bleeding that started again, pressing a small towel right under K'ian's nostrils. "Here, hold this and lean forward." He passed the holding of the towel. "Now with your other hand hold your nose like this," E'rro he showed him where to pinch. "Once it stops bleeding again, we can finish up."
Moving the tray slightly so he could sit next to K'ian, the Brownrider waved over a slightly older looking woman. "I haven't looked at it yet, but I think I'll need a stitch or two." He said to the woman then let her inspect his lip. He confirmed his theory. "That's what I thought. Would you mind?" He watched as the woman left and then returned with a significantly smaller tray than the one K'ian had been brought. The Healer cleaned the area, applied a little bit of numbweed on the skin surrounding the bite then wiped it off and threaded a thin curved needle. E'rro closed his eyes so he didn't have to watch the woman put in the stitches. Two on either side of his lip, fortunately there was no damage to his gum line. "Thanks." He hopped down of the table as soon as there was room to do so. Turning back to his own patient he said, "Lets see your nose." He waited till the woman was gone before saying, "I hate being the patient."
