Name: Sydney
Age: 28
Birthday: December 20th 2994
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Rank: Wherhandler, Jr Journeyman healer
Play by: Olivia Wilde
Physical Appearance:
Sydney is about your average height for a female. She stands at 5’ 6” and is around one hundred and twenty pounds give or take. Though she’s certainly average in weight and height, those are the only things average about her. The woman is striking in her appearance with a finely boned face and absolutely gorgeous forest green feline-like eyes. She has long chocolate brown hair that cascades down her back in soft waves. Her legs are long and thin, she’s very well-toned, and curvy in all the right places. Over all she’s simply stunning. Though thankfully her looks don’t seem to go to her head. Instead she’s one of those people who don’t even seem to realize that they are beautiful. Though Sydney used to be a bit more tanned than her brother since moving north her skin has returned to it’s pale near porcelain shade.
In manner of dress she’s often seen dressed in layers to ward off the cold and though Sydney used to wear the occasional dress, while living in the south, she rarely wears them anymore. Not only is it too cold but one doesn’t dress like that when trying to earn the respect of the holders you are suddenly forced to live with. Instead she is often found in leather or hide pants with long leather boots.
Personality:
Born into a family full of boys aside from her mother, Syd is anything but girly. A big tomboy, she would have rather run and play in the mud than play with dolls or other girly things while growing up. While her mother did all the housework, she was out roughhousing with her brothers. She really still has trouble with knowing how to be a girl at all, still preferring to go out with as little make up as possible and wear the most comfortable things she can wear. For her not are the dresses and demure temperaments of the holder woman.
Sydney is quite a brave woman still, never shying away from a confrontation. She’d be more likely to get in a fight than let something slide off of her. She’s extremely protective of those close to her, and has a hairpin trigger when it comes to a lot of things. Sydney sure isn’t nearly as mellow and easy going as her brother. Instead, she runs at a million miles a minute. In Syd’s life, everything is go, go, go, nonstop and still is. She used to be extremely close to August, not psychically close or anything, they were just born very close to each other, so they used know each other like no other. Since he impressed and was split from her though some of that closeness wore off. She still does get frustrated at times with his lazy and unenthusiastic attitude when he visits her. But she still loves her brother and would protect him from anything should he ever need her help.
Sydney used to love to be around people and used to love to talk to people, even though at times she came off as abrasive. She used to wish that she could be as good around people as Gus was, but due to the systematic abandonment of the closest people in her life one by one the woman started to close herself off. She now holds herself carefully aloof from everyone and seems to have no problem with staying that way. The closest friend she has in her life remains her mandyr Nyx and she doesn’t concern herself much with anyone else anymore. Why bother when all people do is find new and creative ways to ignore your existence? No. Sydney doesn’t think she needs people and it’s obvious that people don’t need her either.
History:
2994 - 3012 Birth, Childhood, August Searched
August was born in late 2993 and Sydney in late 2994 in Selenitas hold. After three boys, their parents were excited to be having a girl. Their mother likes to say that they showed their personalities, right at birth. Sydney barreled her way out, ready to eat and cry right when she was born. August, on the other hand, came much slower. He took his time coming, and was a very easy baby to take care of, while his sister was troublesome from the beginning.
The siblings’ life was very good early on. They never wanted for anything. Their parents were well established crafters and all the siblings got along very well, for the most part. August and Sydney had an especially close bond, being very close in age. Though they weren’t twins, they had been together almost every day of their lives and were certainly best friends.
The hold as a rule had always been close to the weyr that it was under, of course mounting tension between Benden and Selenitas was clear, even to the hold people. They paid their tithes and did everything required of them, but they were still worried about weyr relations between north and south. Of course, when search riders came and searched out one of the siblings, there was little anyone could do about it. August did not want to be searched, not at all, and he definitely didn’t want to leave his sister, but there was no way she was going to be able to come with him, and his parents convinced him to go alone. It was an honor to be chosen after all. Sydney was heartbroken.
3012- 3016 Plague, Reunion with brother, New home
So, for a year or so, Sydney lived without her brother. She soon fell into a routine, also got into healing, which her parents didn’t think she’d ever take up. The hold healers were more than happy to let her learn, turning her into a mock apprentice, though nothing official. Unfortunately for her, something would soon happen that would shatter her world. A plague swept over the southern holds, infecting her parents and sickening them both. Syd got sick too, but she was healthy enough to fight it off. After they died, the girl was distraught and devastated. Her older brothers were both gone, having already went off to establish their own homes, so she went to find her only other family. August. He welcomed her with open arms. Vowing to never let anyone else feel the pain that she felt when her parents died, Sydney transferred into the infirmary of Selenitas weyr, completely immersing herself into it and becoming an apprentice in full.
When Selenitas was taken over by the Benden defectors in 3015, August and Sydney found themselves more or less unaffected. Of course now August did more work and was often pushed harder than he was pushed before the wastelanders took over, but nothing happened to them that was too horrible or tragic. At least not for awhile. Unfortunately August was standing at Millieth’s clutch that year when the wastelanders culled several dragon hatchlings. Though it did take a lot to fire him up, the slaughtering of several innocent babies did just that. He would soon harbor a deep hatred for the wastelanders, but not tell anyone except his sister who was shocked and horrified as well by the culling.
It was then Sydney decided that she would try to change her candidate status so that she would be able to stand for dragons as well. That way she could be there in person to support her brother. Because Faranth knew he needed it.
3017-3019 Earthquake, Meeting Sena and Kaius, Impression to Sydsk and Nyx, War
The weyr seemed to finally be mostly adjusting and Sydney had grown mostly comfortable with her new home. She continued to look after her brother, attend lessons, and learn in the infirmary. Millieth even finally rose again and was growing pleasantly plump as the eggs grew in her belly. But before the great gold could clutch a tragedy befell the weyr. Selenitas was struck by a powerful earthquake. The entire weyr had been basically destroyed and Sydney was frantic over the safety of her brother. Finding him uninjured (in fact the dimglow had slept through it all) she stuck as close to his side as possible until rescue for the entire weyr came from an unlikely source. Burimyu the exile weyr had come out of hiding to offer them a new place to live. With the weyrs now merged things were still a little unstable but Sydney had hopes that Millieth's newest clutch would bring everyone a little closer together.
Before Millieth’s clutch hatched Sydney met a new friend in a younger girl who was her bunkmate. The blonde’s name was Sena and Sydney for the first time in her life had a best friend who was a girl. Sydney held next to no love for any of the other female candidates but Sena was different. The two began to grow closer and closer and even started up a silly fellowship. The Fellowship of the Wormstache. Some weeks later Millieth’s clutch was finally ready to hatch and Sydney stood at that clutch with her brother by her side. As dragon after dragon overlooked her she started to despair and then it happened. August impressed to a twin brown named Oth and became Au’st. Sydney was left standing and her brother was torn away from her yet again.
Sydney was quite depressed about this fact but that didn’t last long as she made another new friend in a boy who had also been left standing that clutch. The boy’s name was Kaius. Soon he also became a rather close friend of hers and Sena, Kaius, and her became something like the three musketeers. They only grew closer and closer as friends until Eikask clutched and the three all stood for the hatching. It was there that all three friends impressed to different whers. Syd herself got a green that called herself Sydsk and though the green was pretty aloof it could not be denied that she also loved her bonded. Sena impressed to a blue and Kaius impressed to the most shocking of all. He impressed a queen wher. The three began wherling lessons and things seemed to be going well. That is until Sydney noticed that Sena and Kaius were beginning to grow closer and closer to one another.
Not wanting to stand in their way Sydney began to slowly distance herself from the pair and neither of them really seemed to notice much with how caught up in each other they were. Then it happened. Kaius confessed his feelings for Sena and the pair began to spend even more and more time alone together. Which left Sydney completely alone. She told herself she didn’t care and wasn’t hurt by their sudden abandonment of her. But really it did hurt and there was nothing she could do about it.
Sydney began to pull away from Sena (who was still her roommate at the time) and began to stay out of the room as often as possible, only returning to sleep. Eventually they all graduated weyrlinghood and Sena moved in with Kaius. That it seemed was that. Her friendship with the two seemed to have been pushed to the wayside to make room for Sena and Kaius’ new relationship. Sydney simply told herself that it was as it should be. They didn’t want or need her obviously anyway when they had each other.
To make matters worse her green firelizard Jen came down with the sickness spread though the pet plauge around that time as well. The green passed between and Sydney was left with another ache that she had no idea how to fix.
Extremely upset and alone Sydney began to seclude herself away from everyone and everything. At least until she accidentally impressed to a green Salamandyr she named Nyx for the half moon marking on the small creature’s forehead. The little mandyr’s emotions were overpowering to an extent that Sydney didn’t know where she ended and Nyx began. The two bonded so seamlessly that to call it a dragon level impression would not be wrong. The mandyr certainly bonded to Sydney stronger then even her wher had. As the young woman struggled to adjust to this new mind in hers she continued her busy life with the infirmary and night sentinel. Kaius and Sena were around yes but her meetings with them were strained and uncomfortable and Sydney just didn’t know how to communicate what she wanted to them. She never had been one that was good at communicating with people.
Before she could even attempt to repair things with Sena and Kaius Selenitas involved itself in the war and though Sydney herself had no part in it she certainly waited with baited breath to see what would transpire. Fort was defeated thankfully and that turn Sydney also gained Jr. Journeyman healer status. Unfortunately what should have made her very happy also sealed her fate.
3020-3022 Summit, Move to Benden
When the Summit’s orders were passed down Sydney was dumbfounded. Because of her craft status she would not be allowed to stay in the weyr. Not knowing which hold to pick she made a mistake and allowed Healer Hall to assign her instead of choosing for herself, hoping that they would send her somewhere south. Anywhere but Selenitas hold as that Hold would remind her of her dead parents. However Healer Hall had other plans for the greenpair and decided to send them North to Benden. They had a master healer at that hold for her to apprentice under and Benden Hold's watch wher had just died. Benden could kill two birds with one stone. And so Sydney packed up what little in the way of possessions she had, said goodbye to her brother and all she knew at Selenitas, and headed North to Benden Hold.
Adjusting to both the cold and the atmosphere at the Northern Hold was extremely hard for Sydney. She was beyond grateful for her mindmates as they both helped her through this tough transition. They were all she had besides her brother, who had thankfully been moved to Inverness. He came to see her at times which was extremely comforting for the young woman. Without him she wasn’t sure she could have handled how things were at times. As months passed and she got more and more used to Benden Hold things got a bit better. Though Sydney couldn’t say she was happy or content with her life, at least it was not completely unbearable. She did miss the south a lot, and her old friends as they used to be before things got so out of control between them.
Current
Currently Sydney holds herself pretty aloof from most of the people in the hold. She doesn’t socialize too much and pretty much keeps to herself and her mindmates. Though this no doubt causes whispers to float about the hold about her Sydney is confident enough in herself that the whispers don’t seem to bother her. At least she still gets visits from her brother. She tells herself that she doesn’t really need much else. Though that lie is becoming harder and harder to believe as the days wear on.

Prophetic Green
Bonded to: Sydney
Name: Sydsk
Color: Green #367588 #00A693
Physical Appearance:
The Prophetic green is perfectly average. Which, essentially, makes her perfectly perfect too. She's smack dab in the middle of the scale for a green. She's neither thin and dainty or thick and muscular. In appearance she is actually perfectly androgynous too, minus her size range (which isn't really an accurate way of identifying sex). Her only oddity isn't even physically noticeable. This green has beyond perfect eyesight. She can see further than most of her species can and, most curiously, is able to stand brighter sun than any other wher despite being part domestic - not that this makes her suited to a diurnal lifestyle, since high-noon is still damaging to her. Her wings are a bit small for her size and build.
Her androgynous image continues with her colouring. She's a lovely teal in colour which makes it hard to tell whether she is a blue or a green simply by appearances. Her markings aren't exactly helpful either since they are more or less a brighter, maybe a tiny bit more green shade of teal. She has two war-paint like markings directly under her eyes as well as simple bands around the ankles of her feet that are about a hand thick. All in all, she has a rather simple but charming colouration. Her hide almost seems to shine when the moons hit her right and she positively glows when she is ready to mate - truly a diamond in the rough type of beauty.
The Prophetic Green is a creature of rigid movements. Imagine the stereotypical soldier walk and apply it to all this green's movements and there you go. It doesn't have the misfortune to look uncomfortable and she will reassure any that ask that she finds moving in such a way actually comfortable. She is only capable of seeming loose and relaxed around the Lucid sibling alone. In fact, she'll even sleep sitting upright if that sibling isn't present. She's just barely capable of short gliding with the proper air currents but she makes up for it with sheer speed on the ground. She's damn fast when she tries.
Personality:
Polite and distant are two words that match this green extremely well. She treats everyone courteously, almost to a fault really. She is not outwardly bothered by insults to herself and so continues to treat those who dislike her with kindness. If she happens to glance at someone she knows well enough to be somewhat comfortable with - because, yes, despite her distant nature she can make friends - she'll send a faint pulse of scorn for whoever happens to be immature enough to insult her and outright dislike if it graduates into insulting the few she cares about.
And few they will be, too. Hers is an obvious loved one but she also outright adores her Lucid sibling, albeit quietly. A couple others might sneak their way into her heart, usually the chromatic colours of any species. She will very rarely, if ever, proclaim just how much she likes someone. She would much rather show them through the actions she takes. She will not rub up against them or flirt or anything like that - she prefers to do practical or meaningful things for them. Protecting them, for example. She's a fierce fighter when she feels the cause is right and is rather good at it.
What this green lacks in intelligence (in comparison to her siblings, anyways) she makes up for with hard work. She believes in a strict work ethic and gently (except in the case of the Lucid sibling. She's rather harsh with that one) pushes others to do the same. Certainly a no nonsense sort of wher, this one. She actually comes off as a bit intimidating to those that don't understand that she does things for their sake rather than just to be pushy. It's no hide off her back if they don't understand that though so she goes on her merry way regardless of their opinions.

The High Priestess Green

Age: 4 turns
Born: 3018
Color: Green (#7DFFD6)
Looks To: Sydney
Physical Appearance:
Practically glowing, she possesses the type of skin so delicate and thin that it seems that one could peer through that ghostly, miasmic hide right through to her bones and organs... and you very nearly can. Tracing through the pale, radiant, waves of green are signs of finely threaded veins, shallow and peeping around the head and eyes, and then again in brief glimpses on her underbelly, pumping that very ichor which gives the salamandyr her odd phosphorescence and coats her little legs, wings, and frill. She is the very marriage of the sea and stars; her coloring like that of the surf, fluid and amorphous, hanging as close to a blue as green can be, but marked with the night sky's tell tale designs. Flecks of white shimmering in their brilliance fall down her spine like a trail of celestial matter, and swirl in a haphazard line at their most concentrated, before trailing off along her tail. Sitting solidly, and prominently however, like a blessing upon her very forehead, lies a sickle shaped luciform; a crescent moon from which all else appears to be nothing more than dust in its wake.
This one seems, in short, otherworldly; in touch with some immaculate foreign forces. This confidence is embedded in her very carriage; she holds her head high with regal poise, with her frill fanned out in perpetual pomp. Her only apparent flaw even seems to be a touch artful: the spars which hold that glassy thin membrane around her countenance is set at angle... a gentle one of course, pulling the frill up into a crown, or more appropriately, a halo. As can be expected from a creature born with such auspicious signs of piety, there is a general sense of elegance in her every movement, every twist of her neck into gentle s-curves or curl of her tail into tender and protective rings around her seated body. Matured in her pride, she manages to carry her self esteem without arrogance or self-delusions, and her exceptionally large, fully workable wings are kept loosely closed more often than not, cloaking her body and hiding the dangerous ivory talons she possess. As the largest lady of the clutch, and unspoken heir to her mother's grandeur, she is truly a sight to behold, and not to be taken in with short fleeting moments... even despite the fact the fact that staring, in most cases, is rude.
Personality:
From the moment those rainbow shaded eyes turn upon you, there is that deep instant connect that can't be questioned or broken... and baby, you better be ready for it, because this one can hook a person like no other salamandyr known to man. She becomes as one with those she deems to keep, seeding herself in her bonded's brain until her thoughts and feels seem intrinsic to their own. Movements, emotions, every involuntary throb of the heart or stir of air in the lungs is shared on an unspoken level, creating what may be called, the most perfect of reciprocal relationships a draconoid can make with a human. One would be mistaken to call it an infestation. Consider it instead a gift - to be so curiously granted with the phantom urges and immaculate knowledge sprung from the green's virtual vault of mental secrets. After all, she is one who seeks to lift the veil of Maya, dissolve the illusion of this life and discover how it is that she fits into the larger world. Quite a daunting set of tasks for what is, in the grand scheme of things, a relatively small individual, but one she is more than willing to take upon herself; she has the assurance that her bonded is doomed to follow her along in this mission.
For all of her connections, and willingness to divulge a emphatic pulse of emotion with her chosen, don't expect this one to actually make much of a peep out loud. She is graced with near perfect grammar, but shows her relation to her hermit brother well, proving to be just as reticent with orality - though markedly her silence is rooted instead in a preference for secrecy and a desire for complete control over herself as well as others. Average folk simply aren't as sentient as they seem, and she is weary to share her wisdom with the fickle masses. So while most others will only receive the most diplomatic of answers when quizzed or inquired about - and yes, the green knows well how to be polite, if stern with her language - only a select few will pierce through the icy reserve that she emanates.
Good or bad, light or dark, this mandyr has the ability to somehow be everything to everybody, because opposites always entail each other. One knows her benevolence for her crueler moments just as one knows what is big only in relation to that which is small. This constant play of contrasts, the almost illogical juxtaposition of complete disclosure and stubborn privacy should not be surprising for anyone who understands that she is but teetering on the edge - practicing her own balance as she juggles the yin and yang of her very own personality.
