Name: Ivy
Age: 27
Turnday: June 27, 2995
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Rank: Bluerider
Weyr: Selenitas Weyr
Location: Blossom hold
Weyrmate: Cainith of Blue Cainsk
Family: Aithyn (son)
Appearance:
As clichè as it sounds, the first thing one might notice about Ivy is her hair. Her red hair. True, true, Southern Hold has turned out red heads before, but Ivy's is very vivid and very bright. The hue of her hair sets off her blue eyes beautifully, and those long fiery locks frame around her full oval face oh-so nicely. Her skin is strangely pale, considering the young woman spends most her time out in the sun. If one catches her in something sleeveless or even topless (which as I'm told isn't that hard to achieve), they'd see a hint of pink on her shoulders where the sun has left its mark. Aside from that though she appears untouched by the sun most of the time, which is just fine by her.
The next thing one might notice - especially if they were male - would be her curves. A full chest is offset by her 'child birthing hips'. Her torso is the main bulk of her height as her legs aren't really all that long, she stands about 5'6" give or take an inch. She isn't as thin as some of the other women she's seen around but nor is she fat. After all its hard to really pack on pounds when you're an avid swimmer - and judging by the musculature of her arms and legs she is.
As for clothing? Ivy is found clothed as often as she's found nude, truth be told. Of course the latter is rarely ever a public occurance. When she is clothed though she makes sure she boasts her womanly figure in form fitting neck-plunging tops and shorts that barely cover her backside. She runs around barefoot a lot of the time, otherwise she has on a nice pair of sandals. Around her neck she generally has a necklace or two, it helps the eye follow the line she wants it to. More often than not she wears earthy tones: greens, some browns, and blues. She never wears anything too dark, nor anything too bright. She may not have the best fashion sense in all of Pern but she seems to know what looks good on her and what doesn't.
Personality:
One word to describe Ivy? Different. Perhaps it was her questionable lineage that leant to her personality traits. Or even the fact that she looked different so she felt the need to act differently too. No matter what the reason for her differences was, she was still quite different from the majority of Southern Holders.
Bubbly. Fun. Flirtacious. Mischeivous. Friendly.
All of those words could be used when talking about Ivy, and usually they were used a lot. A few more words that could be thrown in there? Manipulative and defiant.
As fun and friendly as the young woman was, she was equally manipulative. Not surprising though, weren't most women at least a tinge manipulative? She knew how to use her looks to get what she wanted, to get who she wanted. She did not let people dictate to her what she would do with her life, when she had her mind set on something she did whatever, and whomever, she had to in order to reach her goal.
Her laugh was infectious, her smile dazzling, and her mannerisms were always soft but never subtle. She wasn't one to throw herself at a man, but if she wanted someone she generally made it obvious - though most of her involvements with men had been purely sexual and never emotional.
Beneath the surface, if someone stuck around and probed deep enough into her (no pun intended) they would find she wasn't truly as certain of herself as she may appear. They would find a woman who was deeply intellectual and not just a giggly dimglow who fell into bed with anyone and everyone. Ivy is known for being a fierce friend when she befriends someone, and is fairly loyal as well.
History:
Cerena had been a Weyrbrat. Born and raised in Benden Weyr. She was a Candidate there for many turns but in 2994, between Benden's clutches she was a flightmoth for a Brownrider named Iv'n. From that pairing came Ivy.
She had her daughter in the middle of June in 2995, but the following turn things went downhill. So in the middle of the night while most of the Weyr was tending to injured or planning for another attack on Fort, Cerena snuck out of the Weyr with her one turn old daughter. Over the next few turns she made her way south to Keroon Hold. She managed to barter her way onto a trade vessel heading to Southern Hold.
The seas were rough between Keroon and Southern, and no one was more thankful when they made port on the southern continent than Cerena. Young daughter still in tow the nearly 16 turn Cerena, with her dirty blonde hair and blue eyes had no problem finding herself a suitable man to marry. She met Vir in the Minor Healerhall, he was easily 10 turns older than her but she didn't mind. She was running low on marks and he had a stable position and a nice home. All he was missing was a wife.
From their union three more children were born, all of them with blonde hair like their father and blue eyes like their mother. This led to some tension amongst the siblings growing up, since Ivy obviously didn't fit in with the rest of them. Despite being the oldest she was made fun of by her younger sister and brother often. Still she was a happy child and brushed it off.
Her childhood was personally uneventful. Sure the goings on around Pern had everyone on edge a bit, but she was a child - what worries did she have? That was until 3006 - shortly after Cerena announced she was pregnant again - Thread fell. The following turn was tense and the next few turns did not get much better. Despite the fact the Hold and Weyr were not very close the activity at the Weyr was known around Southern Hold - while some didn't care, Ivy personally felt saddened by the news of death and violence.
A few turns later (in 3010), when Ivy was 15 a Searchrider came from Selenitas Weyr. Despite her family's best efforts to keep all the children in their home and away from the Hold while the Searchrider was around, Ivy slipped out. She had been dreaming of dragons for what seemed like her whole life and when she saw the Blue herself she was not disappointed. Wide-eyed the young girl stared up at the dragon and his rider - but alas the Blue found someone more suitable from the Hold and left.
Disappointed Ivy accepted the fact she would be Hold bound for the rest of her life. The following turn she saw another Searchrider come and still she was left in Southern Hold. So when Vir introduced to her Darren and proposed the two of them get married she did not oppose. He was a handsome young man, only five turns her senior - which is something she was glad of, the age difference between Vir and her mother had always bothered her slightly. He was an established Journeyman Healer in the Minor Healerhall and when Ivy expressed an interest in learning about medicinal herbs he managed to get her a position in the gardens the hall had. So it was, she settled into this life of mediocrity and watched the skies longingly.
Two turns after she and Darren wed, Ivy gave birth to what should have been a healthy young boy. Unfortunately the child was already dead when he was born and Ivy was left heartbroken. She mourned the child and blamed her husband for not being able to save him - even though there was nothing he could have done. It was the next turn when another Searchrider came to Southern Hold, this time on a Green, and she would not be left behind.
Ivy ensured she was everywhere the Greenrider and his Green were. She ignored her husband and her duties in the Healerhall and focused all her energy on trying to make them see she was just what they were looking for. She had heard of the plague ravaging the Weyr and after stealing her husband's Journeyman knots she convinced the rider to take her back to the Weyr so she could help.
Finally! She would be at Selenitas Weyr where the dragons were and she could leave this life behind her. Of course upon coming to the Weyr it was quickly realized that she was not really a Journeyman from the Healerhall. However due to her knowledge of medicinal herbs she proved useful to the Weyr's healers. She spent many evenings in the infirmary working on learning more of the healer craft, realizing she probably would not be permitted to stand.
Another turn passed and she was getting along well as a helper in the infirmary. She'd never become a full healer but at least she was knowledgable enough that those without serious injuries could be seen by her. Her extra hands were helpful when the Selenitas River was poisoned, and then again later when Fort Weyr attacked. Things settled down for awhile but then once more there was violence and drama when the Wastelanders came to Selenitas and took over. She avoided them as best she could, it was fairly easy as they paid no mind to the young redheaded woman who occasionally worked in the infirmary.
When not in the infirmary she spent time enjoying the company of Greenriders, Blueriders, a few Brownriders, and even bedded a Bronzerider once. Each time she laid with one of the riders she would bring up her desperate desire to stand for a clutch. A few months after her 20th turnday, she got her chance. Despite having been looked over by so many others one of the Greens in the Weyr looked at her differently one day. She was elated when she was told to report to the Candidate barracks - she would be standing for Millieth's next clutch! She was diligent in her duties as a Candidate - doing her chores in a timely manner and volunteering for extra infirmary days, she attended every lesson they offered for the Candidates and asked some of her 'friends' around the Weyr every question about dragons and riding she could think of.
The day came finally and she stood there watching in awe as the eggs began to hatch. She waited. And waited. And waited. The last pair Impressed and she was left waiting, painful in of itself, but the whole thing was even more dreadful when the four hatchlings who had been born 'mutated' were killed. It was chaos on the Sands that day, nothing like she had expected when she dreamt of standing as a young girl. Did this always happen? By the reaction of Millieth and the other dragons she could only assume it didn't. She immediately hated those who ended the lives of those innocent hatchlings but did nothing, she couldn't give up her Candidacy. Instead she ran back to the barracks and she cried herself to sleep.
That had been nearly six months ago, and still some nights she could hear the dying keen echoing in her mind - especially since the sound was heard again at Hyphen Hold's Gather. The one day she'd gone had turned into a disaster of a day. More killings. More dragons gone. What was wrong with the world?!
Still, time passed and she could not act out against those who were responsible for the killings. She felt she should, but she could not for fear of losing her spot as a Candidate - or worse... death. Staying quiet she studied as a Candidate under Elisabeta (the evil harpy of a Greenrider - wastelander as well, ugh). Things were going fine (aside from the numerous new chores and running exercises) - she'd even managed to Impress a firelizard, Blue Eros.
Then chaos struck - the world shook and Selenitas fell. The Weyr she'd been calling home was broken, and numerous inhabitants of the Weyr were injured or dead. The earthquake was horrid, and it came at the worst time. Millieth was egg heavy and the Hatching Sands were ruined. Luckily for Selenitas, the exiles of Burimyu reached out and offered their Weyr and help.
So they picked up and moved to Burimyu - though now it was called Selenitas. Millieth clutched and while it was hardening on the sands Harmony's clutch (which they'd brought from the old Selenitas with them) hatched. From that clutch she acquired Perses - an attention seeking Blue salamandyr.
A few sevenday passed and it was time - Millieth's clutch was hatching! Ivy did her best to feign excitement, while she was preparing herself for disappointment once more. The clutch hatched and once more Ivy was left Standing. Disappointed once more, she found some solace with Cainith - who she'd been seeing quite regularly.
After Millieth's clutch hatched there was another hatching - a wher hatching. While Ivy was not interested in the night beasts, Cainith was. So she went to offer moral support - not that he needed it since he Impressed a blue named Cainsk. So he was moved out of the Candidate Barracks and his schedule was flipped to be completely opposite of hers. Essentially she was alone now - at least during the day. She still saw Cainith, when she snuck out of the barracks to go visit with him during his lessons.
Life moved on in the new Selenitas. At some point a new danger was discovered - though Ivy only heard about it because of Cainith. The new threat to Selenitas was a nocturnal creature - later named a Kyman - that had attacked. Glad that Cainith and Cainsk were alright, Ivy took to sneaking out even more - and it did not go unnoticed. Large dark circles under her eyes brought more than a few questions from the Candidatemaster and Headwoman when she happened to get caught in a conversation with one of them.
So she cut back on her visits and waited for the next clutch, which eventually came. Nitrath's clutch was on the Sands and it was gorgeous - even if no one could get too close since the Junior Weyrwoman had lost her bloody mind. It seemed to be on the Sands forever before finally the call came from the Golden queen, the eggs were hatching! One of the first to the Sands Ivy waited, encouraged by her friend Saphor standing with her and Cainith in the Stands. She watched as each dragon hatched - heart jumping in her throat as a few came closer. She was left not only disappointed but with her boyfriend in trouble - Cainith had jumped from the Stands when she was knocked over (though she thought it was more of the handsome man next to her that really brought him down). Saphor had Impressed at least, so Ivy was bitterly happy for the other girl.
Shortly after she was left Standing, Ivy came down with what she thought was a stomach bug. She would get ill after every meal, and sometimes in between them. No matter how much sleep she got she was exhausted. Then it came - the belly bump. At that point she realized she was not just sick, she was pregnant! She considered keeping it a secret so as not to lose her rank as a Candidate, but she couldn't hide it from Cainith... who in turn blew the whistle (though admittedly by mistake, as he was far too excited to keep his trap shut).
Unable to Stand, Ivy missed out on two hatchings. Millieth had another clutch, Nitrath had another clutch as well. Pregnancy didn't quite agree with Ivy, who was terrified she would lose the child or have a stillborn as she had back in Southern Hold. She was constantly ill and had to spend much of her time in the infirmary or laying down. Soon though, on April 14, 3019 she was done with her pregnancy - as she gave birth to a son.
Aithyn, as he was named by Ivy and Cainith, was a gorgeous baby. Blonde locks and bright green eyes - it would have made no sense to them if it weren't for the fact her grandmother had green eyes and her mother had blonde hair. He was a few months old when Millieth rose - meaning a clutch would come soon. Ivy was torn but was encouraged by Cainith to once more don her Candidate's robes when the clutch came.
So when the time for the hatching came, with permission from the Candidatemaster, Ivy left Aithyn in the care of her now weyrmate, Cainith, and stood on the Sands. She expected to be left Standing - though this time she had Aithyn so she wouldn't have been disappointed - but instead she was surprised as a lithe little Blue came towards her and did not pass her by.
Lighth was his name, and his mindvoice was warm and soothing - even if he did speak a little strangely. The love she had for him immediately could have only been matched by her love for her son, and now she had the tough task of being a mother and weyrling all at once. She tried for the first month of weyrlinghood to care for both Aithyn and Lighth, but a baby and a baby dragon both need so much care and attention - soon Aithyn started spending more and more time in the creche or with Cainith while Ivy spent her time with her blue.
It was during her weyrlinghood that life on Pern took a surprising turn, as Selenitas joined the Northern War. Siding with Benden (a fact Ivy was not entirely happy with) the joined forces managed to push Fort back and defeat them. As Ivy was nearing her graduation day, the war ended and another change came with the Summit.
The Summit's decisions changed life for Ivy and her small family drastically, as Cainith was assigned to a Hold. He was given somewhat of a choice, and after discussing it he and Ivy decided staying in a southern hold would be best, as long as it wasn't Southern Hold itself. Blossom Hold would do well, and Ivy could join him there... once she graduated. So Cainith and Aithyn went ahead of her - Ivy staying in Selenitas until she was a full rider and able to be posted as a watchrider of Blossom Hold.
Once more rejoined with her family life was quiet and nice. She worked her shifts, Cainith worked his, and in between they raised their son. Life was good for the trio in Blossom.

Name: Lighth
Color: Blue (#00FFFF //#00FFAA)
Age: 4 turns
Dam and Sire: Millieth and Sparath
Appearance: Lighth is a light colored Blue. Almost 90% of his body is a perfectly undisturbed cyan, while the other 10% is a whirl with markings. Starting at the Inside edges of each eye, two greenish blue lines trail down either side of his neck, run under his wings, over his rump and down to the separate sections of his tail, never meeting. This same color caps each of his toes, trailing low along the outsides of the foot, almost as if he were wearing low cut shoes. His small white talons may not compete with some of the more wicked looking dragons, but they are still just as sharp.
As far as musculature... he's by far more suited to the Green standard than that of a Blue. Lighth is small, falling somewhere between a large Green and a Small Blue, if it weren't for the Cyan of his hide he might have even been mistaken for a Green. Compact muscle, an almost non-existent layer of fat, a whip like tail and a definite streamline appearance allow for sharp maneuvers and speeds matching that of many a Green. Lighth has a lean body and a lean face, making him seem a little dainty (as well as pretty darn feminine), but he has the power to stand up for himself. Not for very long though since he doesn't have much endurance in him. And his wings are thin but strong, allowing for rapid movement and drop of a pin corrections. No Thread will escape his grasp if its physically possible for Lighth to get.
Personality:
If it wasn't for the fact Lighth chased, he would most definitely be the stereotypical gay. Flamboyant, fabulous and fierce. Not to mention confident and proud. This Blue is not afraid to do what he likes and does it in the most amusing ways possible. Lighth will not find it hard to make friends among many of the females. Girl-talk? Oh honey, he's been there done that! Gossiping about the cute males and how they never pay attention to you? Lighth knows, darling, oh he knows. And unless a Green is about ready to Rise, he shows practically zero interest in females other than procuring friendships. Males on the other hand, oh well aren't they just treats! If given the chance, Lighth will cuddle, snuggle, play with and doze next to any male dragon that will let him. He will always be flirtatious with them, but in the end it will never go anywhere other than companionship because he doesn't Rise.
Although Lighth is known for saying things like "Don't worry about that honey boo-boo child" in his almost southern-gypsy mind voice, the Blue has a fighter hidden deep inside. Not a dragon fighter mind you, but one that must destroy every single piece of thread he can see once he's seen it. He holds a deep hatred for the spores, they could tear all that he has away from him and that darling, is just something he can't let happen. But if he's not in the vicinity of the nasty stuff, Lighth is a pacifist at best. Fighting is just not his style! In the Turns he has been alive, you can count the number of times he's been angry on a single hand. Its honestly not in his nature. Sure, Lighth may get pissy or catty if insulted, but he would never ever instigate a fight. A real one at least. Mock fights and shows of aggression are not categorized under real fighting in Lighth's mind.
Name: Eros
Species Firelizard
Color: Blue (00FFD5)
Age: 1 turn, 4 months (September 3016)
Clutch: The Endless Clutch (Ghost's Clutch)
Egg: Desire Egg (by Kisha)
This egg is a bright, attractive yet disturbing mixture of bright red and neon pink, the colours mixing and bleeding endlessly into one another in a way that seems to make the egg oddly threatening as well as really hard on the eyes. To look upon on the Desire egg for to long is to invite in eyestrain, and probably a massive headache as well.
Appearance:
If the word androgynous can be applied to firelizards, here’s the one to apply it to. Nothing about this firelizard’s appearance is gender specific at all and he seems to like it that way, his overall build is long and whippy, with a slightly overlong, and very flexible, tail that he uses extensively both to touch and to gesture, thus drawing attention to his most distinctive feature at every opportunity. He seems to lack any kind of muscle at all, his slender frame seeming delicate, almost fragile, but that impression is quickly dispelled by sharp ridges that jut up in a threatening manner and dark claws that seem to indicate maybe this blue is not as helpless as he looks.
Unlike his siblings this firelizard stand out for being but one single color from nose to tail tip; a blinding bright shade that almost hurts to look at and one that is almost perfectly balanced between the blue and green spectrum; Something this blue will always use to his own advantage to attract and confuse others. In truth his color is dappled a little but it will take a keen eye to spot the patterning, subtle as it is on his blinding bright hide.
Personality:
Oh he is a prideful one this little blue, and quite, quite, self obsessed, and why shouldn’t he be? Is he not the most beautiful, the most powerful, the most perfect creature in all the worlds? Why yes, yes he is, and one day soon everyone will know it. Everyone and everything is a possession in the claws of the desire blue though he does not openly claim them, no it amuses him to see that others think the things he owns are theirs. He prefers to manipulate others into doing what he wants rather than use a show of force, in fact he’s quite the little sneak and will often try and goad salamandyrs and other firelizards into attacking him in front of humans, the humans love him you see, they deserve a chance to prove their devotion.
His preferred method to anything though is to flirt, he much prefers to have his slaves do things because they love him so, and so he’ll make an effort to flirt with everyone he can, be they female, or male, firelizard, salamandyr, or even a stray human, for some reason he’s even quite adept at confusing males into thinking he’s female a green, maybe it’s his colouring or his complete lack of gender defining features, but more than likely it’s in his mind, this blue is able to counterfeit affection to any creature he can mindtouch, no matter how great his true contempt.
Name: Perses
Species: Salamandyr
Color: Blue ~ Base: [33A1C9], Eye spot, wing membranes, racing stripes: [B0E0E6]
Age: 9 months (May 3017)
Clutch: The Lunar Clutch (Harmony & Imp)
Egg: The Waning Crescent Egg
Appearance:
This blue falls somewhere in the smaller size range for his color. He isn’t quite as small as a green but it’s a close thing. Everything on him from his head to his limbs to his tail length is in perfect proportion. Not one thing being smaller or larger then your average picture of what a mandyr should look like. He doesn’t have much to show off in the way of musculature. In fact he is relatively slim and sleek. Not quite skinny enough that you can see any bones or ribs through his hide but certainly a touch on the thin side. He’s quite the pretty boy in fact and he seems to realize this always picking the best poses to show himself off in just the right way. He has wings that are average in size for a mandyr. Meaning that while he will never be able to fly he will be able to glide with ease. Like the majority of his dams offspring he has no frill instead sporting the same spines that have become Harmony’s trademark.
There is no way this little guy could be mistaken for anything but a blue. His hide is a bright and almost metallic shade of peacock blue. It will glimmer slightly in almost any lighting making him quite the handsome creature. The problem with this is that even when he is sick or injured his hide will retain it’s glimmer so his will have to watch him closely for any sign of ill health or the like. He has a few markings that break up the uniform quality to his hide. A perfect circle rings his left eye in a shade of powder blue. The same shade also colors his wing membranes and runs in two parallel stripes down either side of his spine. All in all he certainly is a handsome devil.
Personality:
The first thing you’ll notice about this mandyr is that he is loud. Not in the obnoxious way though. He’s just good at commanding the attention of the entire room without coming off as irritating. He’s simply just very prone to trying to grab the spotlight and he seems to thrive there once he has it. He’s very boisterous and outgoing, making a point to speak to anyone who seems like they could carry on a decent conversation. Thankfully he isn’t always had hard to understand even if his grammar is completely terrible. He gets his point across well enough and he’s so cheerful and charming that most will find him a decent conversation partner. There is no doubt that this male likes attention and most of the time he’s content with the positive sort. Through if you ignore him he’ll find some way to get you attention, and if negative attention is all he can get well then so be it. Though make no mistake he’ll always be charmingly apologetic afterwards.
He’s protective of his bonded and certainly very possessive of their attention. He’s not very fond of others trying to take his bonded’s attention away from himself and should his ever acquire another pet or a mate you can be sure that this little blue will be suitably jealous and not very happy at all. His is his and no one else’s thank you very much. As such all their attention should be his and his alone. If you want to pay attention to him and not his fine, or if you want to pay attention to both of them ever better, but don’t be trying to weasel in on his bonded. If you do he has no qualms about trying to push you out of their life in any way he can come up with. Making up stories of infidelity? Sure. Performing mean and nasty pranks on the person. Yep. Anything to keep his to himself.
As far as other mandyrs go he is perfectly capable of being civil and even friendly. The same with flits. If you’re a female flit or mandyr even better. The blue has a bit of a soft spot for the softer sex and can be extremely charming and wonderful when he wants to be. Quite the womanizer he has one goal in mind. He wants to win runs and flights and win them frequently. He’ll by no means be loyal to any pretty he catches either. But make no mistake he’ll still be sweet to her afterwards and forever more, in the hopes that she’ll continue to choose him despite his running around. He just likes to share his love is all. He’s so wonderful why should he limit himself to just one?
