Welcome to the Selenitas Infirmary, where everything smells like healing herbs.
Unlike previous turns, this healing center is never short staffed. Apprentices and interns of all ages come to learn and practice both the healing arts under the tutelage of Selenitas's Weyrhealer and Dragonhealer.
So, lets explain a little about what each branch of healing does.
-Healing, the humanoid way:
WeyrHealer: Senior Journeyman Raebeli of Green Quixoth
People who choose this branch of the healing profession will find themselves involved with the multitude of injuries, sicknesses, or mental illness that plague the Pernese People. Whether it’s a burn, scrape, break, or some horrible progressive disease, its more than likely these people will know how to cure you. If its treatable of course. Healing can take an entire lifetime to learn, but if you’re willing to put up with the sometimes terrible hours, getting barfed and bled on and having to clean out bed pans… well, you’re obviously committed to learning. During Threadfall, Raebeli will be the attending Healer in Charge.
-Dragonhealing, name appropriate:
WeyrDragonhealer: E'rro of Brown Ismaroth
Now, as the name implies, this branch of Healing treats those of the Dragon lineage. Whether it be a Dragon, wher, flitter or Salamandyr. These people know the ins and the outs of just how these guys work. Like normal Healing, Dragonhealing can also take a life time to learn, each and every new recruit starting at the lowest level of apprenticeship unless there are unusual circumstances. Most notably, previous training. Plus, Dragonhealing can ONLY be learned by apprenticing at a Weyr. Usually, there is a Dragonhealer on hand at every Dragon or Wher hatching, in case they are needed for on the site treatment. Currently in thread fall, E'rro will be the attending Dragonhealer in charge.
Interns/Apprentices:
These people come directly from the Healer Hall in the far North, willingly or less so. Although Selenitas has a cap on how many we have, there will never be a moment in the Infirmary where a patient can not find one. According to E'rro, who is not used to having so many at hand, they are like gnats who are five times as difficult to get rid of.
Depending on their official Rank or skill set, each apprentice or intern is given chores that closely mimic what skills they need to improve on. The more experienced you are, the better jobs you get.
Hours and Appointments:
Being fully staffed finally gives the Healers in Charge a break from long, exhausting hours. You can find their availability below, not accounting for small breaks and the times when they will be in their offices doing paperwork.
