Brothers: Twins M'kai of blue Futh and Cr'oph of bronze Mavenath

Physical Appearance:
Diamonique is tall for a girl, nearly six feet in height. Every part of her is long, from her fingers to her legs to her arms. Her legs make up the majority of her height. Her arms also look awkwardly long for her body, tipped by long, thin fingers. Though she looks rather awkward, she has subtle muscles under the skin of her upper arms and thighs gained from long years of swimming. Her build is long and lanky, kinda like she never grew out of her awkward adolescent phase, though the hint of muscle that can be seen in her arms and legs at times is enough to shatter this perception, at least for a moment, until it goes back to her seemingly awkward build.
Her skin is pale, which is odd considering she spends most of her time outside, but she more often burns than tans, and taking into account the color of her hair combined with the paleness of her skin, I suppose it isn't that odd at all. She has a spattering of freckles on her cheeks and the bridge of her nose. They're also sporadically splattered over her shoulders, back and arms, though there are less on her arms.
Her hair is long and a very vivid shade of red. If she leaves it untended, it can grow exceptionally long, but she keeps it cut to a more manageable length. It's still long, but not really, really long. Let's face it, butt length hair is just a pain when it comes to swimming. It wasn't exactly her choice to cut it. When she started getting involved with the dolphineers, they made her cut her hair. Her hair normally lays very straight, except in humidity where it takes on a wavy quality.
She has a round, pretty face. It's extremely full of expression. He nose is rather distinctive looking, and her lips are pretty and full. Her eyes are gorgeous, large but vaguely slanted, almost like a cat's. Her eyes are a pretty shade of blue grey, edging on blue...especially in a certain light.
Personality: The first thing anyone would notice about Dia is that she's exceedingly sweet. Hard to anger and extremely kind and loving. She's the kind of girl who just seems to get along with everyone. In fact, it's easy being in this girl's presence. Most anyone would find her easy to talk to and get along with, it would seem that there isn't a bad bone in her body. Charismatic and full of personality, she's funny and congenial. She'd rather be in a group full of people than by herself any day of the week.
Despite this, or maybe because of it, she's extremely sensitive to criticism and takes things very personally most of the time. When everyone likes you and everyone likes being around you, it just makes sense that you aren't used to criticism or anyone doing anything against you. Most of these feelings she tries to keep to herself, but she, unfortunately, can't seem to hide anything. Most of the time, she just blurts out what she's thinking, even if it might hurt someone else's feelings. Not that she means to, or is even conscious of it. If she says something mean, she will immediately regret is and will voraciously apologize. It's times like these when she'll try not to speak, but not speaking is a seemingly monumental and impossible task for the girl, so more often than not, it doesn't happen.
Dia is most at home in the water. She's been in and around the water so long that her entire being can be compared to any number of aquatic creatures. On land, she is dreadfully awkward and clumsy, not at all the picture of the perfect, graceful, towering beauty. In fact, when she's walking, and it doesn't have to be a far distance and at any pace, she'll fall more often than not, tripping over even the air. In the water though, the lanky, awkward, clumsy woman transforms into something truly beautiful and spectacular. More graceful and fluid like in the water than she can ever hope to be on land, she is truly a sight to behold when she's swimming. In reality, if she were to be on land as much or more than she was in the water, then she'd probably develop some sort of gracefulness on land, but she's just a naturally clumsy girl.
History:
Life at Benden; Candidacy - 2990-3012
Diamonique's parents were Benden riders Mi'oph of blue Ceklath and Crystil of green Lynarth. Named after her maternal aunt, she had an idyllic childhood. Sure, there was a war going on, but Benden was holding their own well enough, and anyway. That wasn't dragonrider business, and she wasn't a dragonrider. Still, even though Benden never fell in the war, young Diamonique soon would find herself restless and bored, even as her second turnday came around. She loved her parents deeply, but they were only adults, and she wanted a sibling to play with. Fortunately for her, two turns into her life not only would she get that wise, but she'd get it times two when twins Crystoph and Mikail were born to her parents. Not only this, but a turn after, a couple of family friends had a little daughter and social butterfly Dia's life was complete. TWO little brothers and a little girl to play with! And play she did. Though she was three years older than her youngest playmate, they never seem to cut her out of the games.
As she got older, she was always well aware of the business of dragonriders, at least to a certain extent. Her parents didn't like the current Benden leadership, and they weren't quiet about it, raising all three of their children in the old ways. From her earliest memories, it had always been a given that she would grow up to be a dragonrider, probably a green, like her mother. She wasn't sure if it was what she wanted, but she never really gave the idea much thought. It seemed to be a natural given. Her parents were dragonriders, her brothers would certainly become dragonriders, even Meagen had been expressing her interest in impressing. Whether she wanted to or not, she would be a candidate, and truthfully, Dia was blissfully neutral about the whole business. Though, she realized that more and more of the men of the weyr were looking at her oddly, and she knew why. Her parents never romanticized live in Benden. They knew what it was like, and so did she. She knew why the men were looking at her and what they would want. For the most part she worked in the kitchens, a place where any respectable Benden man wouldn't step, and she was safe for the most part.
When she came of age to stand,Dia did. She never impressed, however, and her standing became more and more sporadic until she stopped showing up at hatchings, using her duties in the kitchen as an excuse, until her brothers finally stood. Unfotunately for her and the twins, none of them impressed. The first hatching where she was left standing was bad enough, but as the years went on and they stood over and over again and were left standing just as many times, seeds of restlessness and depression grew in the girl's mind. If she wasn't good enough for a baby dragon, why would she be good enough for anyone? Meagen was the only one who knew she felt this way, but she continued standing, continuing to be left standing time and time again. As she grew into her body for the most part, she again noticed the looks that the men gave her. She was tall, but she wasn't particularly strong. She had no way to defend herself against the advances of more persistent men, and she had no desire to end up in the bed of some random rider. That's where her brothers came in. Mikail and Crystoph protected her from the men who didn't seem to take no for an answer, and with his help, she was able to keep from losing her virginity in Benden.
Finally she had had enough of the disappointment and resigned as a candidate. The girl was sent to work in the kitchens full time, where she saw little of her family, but at least she didn't have to worry about being disappointed too much. It was a pretty far drop for the gregarious young woman, but she took it all in stride. Soon after this, Dia would realize that her sister hadn't been as lucky as she had when Meagen was raped by a bronzerider. The feeling of anger and helplessness Dia felt manifested itself right away. How could she help anyone, least of all her little adopted sister, shut away in the kitchens? Though the desire to flay the bastard was strong, she knew that it would possibly cause more harm than good...so she left it alone, convinced that she would be to blame for not being with Meagen at the time. It was probably a blessing in disguise that she was in the kitchens most of the time anyway, and that her parents kept her mostly out of the way of the men of the weyr. She didn't see it at the time, but she would as time went on.
Since she was in the kitchen at the time of the siege, she didn't know about the deaths of her parents. She knew that they would be involved, but she didn't know something was wrong until her brothers came to get her. She was instantly suspicious, but she left with them with little resistance. She had no reason to stay at Benden. So, she went with them and Meagen to Blossom
3012 - Blossom Hold; Dolphin Hall
The journey was a hard one. Meagen and Dia were forced to work in the galley of the boat they chartered, but they got to Blossom in more or less on piece. This was a completely different world than the weyr in the north, and Dia soon saw other possibilities for her life other than working in the kitchen her entire life. The role of the dolphinhandlers intrigued her, and before she knew it, she was becoming involved in that. The girl was old to just be getting started in the field, but it seemed natural for the girl. She had always loved being in the water whenever she could manage it, and in dolphinhandling, the girl found that chance. She would soon become as graceful in the water as anyone could ever be. This was what she was born, for, she decided and before long she shot up the ranks.
Before she knew it, she was ascending the ranks of dolphineer, and she would soon get her first dolphin partner. Though she was wrapped up in her work, she wasn't so distracted that she didn't notice the disappearance of her dear brothers. Sadness and betrayal plagued her. Why would they leave her when they had already lost so much as a family? She knew where they had gone, Selenitas. The twins had lest she and Meagen a note with the information, however, they didn't say why. Betrayal burned in her. Didn't they want to see her anymore, why hadn't they asked her to come along? What really crushed her was when Meagen slipped away as well. This stung her a great deal and she pushed back the feelings of bitterness and anger she felt at her family. What was wrong with her? Why would they leave her here alone? She was angry at all of them, and she wanted to know why, but she didn't go looking. It was possible that she might have gone looking, had she not gained her dolphin partner.
3012-Present - Kiakime; Journeyman
The dolphin was just a baby, but by the time Dia saw her, she was entranced. Unlike most of the pink dolphins that populated the lake, this one was a creamy white color with stunning blue eyes that seemed to be able to see into your soul. They bonded almost immediately and as soon as the dolphin the girl named Kiakime was weaned, they started training together. Probably because of Kia's age, she and Dia became extremely close, closer than your average handler and dophin. They relied on each other. Dia relied on Kia to keep her from going off the rails in a desperate search for her family, and Kia relied on Dia to keep her safe and loved.
Grabbing her Journeyman rank, Dia continues to work with her partner and be involved in the happenings of the Dolphinhall. She held a long standing hatred for dragonriders because she viewed them as responsible for the death of her parents, so, being involved in the Dolphinhall was the perfect excuse for her to ignore the business of the dragonriders. The plague that swept through the south hit her hard, and the girl nearly died. Fortunately, with the help of the close bond with her dolphin Kia, she pulled through. She didn't want to care about the weyr, but the knowledge that her brothers was there hit her heard when she earned about the Benden defectors who took over the weyr. She hoped her brothers were alright, but didn't go to look for them. They were big boys and could take care of themselves, especially if they had impressed by now, which she was sure they did. And anyway, she wasn't quite ready to face them yet.
Currently, she is once more wondering about her brothers and sister, wishing to find out where Meagen disappeared to, and maybe get some explanation besides the curt note they left her.
3018-3023 - M'kai comes to Blossom to get a dolphin for his weyrmate, he finds Dia and after getting pummeled, invites her to Nitrath's hatching. She gets to the weyr, leaving Kia behind and ends up befriending Ka'aen at a salamandyr hatching. She impresses a brown that she names Hamaliel and finds that she really, really likes the weyr. Hangs out with Ka'aen at the hatching.
They hang out afterwards and Dia realizes that she likes him a lot so she crashes his weyr all the time. Eventually, they become weyrmates. Has absolutely nothing to do with the war, and when the summit convenes, she realizes that she's going to be sent back to Blossom. Dia's upset because she's finally found some good things in life and she's reunited with her brothers. She doesn't have a choice, though, as a dolphineer, she is forced to return to blossom. She tells Ka'aen that he doesn't have to go with her, but he decides to accompany her anyway. Returns to Blossom in 3020 with a salamandyr and a boyfriend and reunites with Kiakime.

Dragons/Whers/Fire Lizards/Salamandyrs/DOLPHIN:
The Hierophant Brown
Name: Hamaliel
Age: Five Turns
Color: Brown (#660000)
Looks To: Dia
Physical Appearance: There is no doubt about it. There is a definite tinge of red to his appearance. Wait... that is an understatement. He is predominantly a ruddy ochre, as if draped in some regal and highly vestments. The brown could have been exactly that - a run of the mill mud color with little to speak of - but no, he shares his brown brother's flair for interesting color combinations, albeit in much darker values. With a base of deep dark bloodied mahogany, looking at him alone invokes the smell of leather bound books and dimmed sitting rooms. A pair stripes, in a vivid chestnut, ring around his multifaceted eyes and carry on the side of his face and trail off into ever narrowing lines along his neck where they die off, seemingly for good. The color pops up time and time again, in an even more defined crimson. His frill, as one may expect bears this color, as do the stretched skin of his wings. Flecks of gold work their way in - as if his mother's influence is unavoidable - and gather in true mandyr fashion on his back in little spots. He does have one rather distinguishing birthmark settled in the garnet hues of his wings. A black splotch is settled in between his first and second finger bones, its shape resembling a keyhole waiting to be unlocked.
In terms of size and build, he is rather impressively built. No, he is not a mass of muscle like his bronze clutchmate and he most definitely does not appear ready to enter any weight lifting competitions anytime soon, but he is solid. Unless the wind was to catch his exceptionally large frill, then there is not a gust likely to knock him over. His power comes from the breadth of his chest and the force of his muscled hindlegs which curve into a deceptively large rump when he sits propped up. His paws are nothing to laugh at either though, his toes are long just as they are thick, gifting him extra strength in his climbing grip. It may come in handy since his wings are otherwise useless; not from their form, but simply from his lack of coordination. Outside of gliding he is fairly rooted in the ground, despite his constant stretching of his wings in emphatic punctuation of his grand schemes and ideas. This is his mode of expression since his face is too often cast as stern and unmoving. On first assessments alone, he strikes a rather intimidating image: a stone guardian set to strike fear in the very bones of ill doers, while soothing those of who are pure of heart.
Personality: Stubborn, hard headed, in love with order... this anal retentive creature is least likely to win any awards for his stunning personality from his peers, but really he is the most misunderstood mandyr of the brood. He simply wants perfect harmony and balance at all times, and he will go to all lengths to accomplish this, though ironically he is likely to only irk and irritate those he resolves to fix, thus making him a constant extinguisher and breeder of conflict. At times this neurosis is harmless. He'll try to order his own and his bonded's day into strict routines, repeating the process time and time again until it becomes sacred ritual. You see the sunrise breakfast and the one candlemark grooming and the regular counting of the steps between floors are important. These practices create boundaries and define his reality. To disrupt the process would not just tip the scales and ruin the normal swing of things, but skew meanings and his very sense of security. To keep things in line however also keeps the peace, and it is this that he intends to do with his misguided attempts at authority and rule over his bonded.
Despite his failures in working towards the greater good, he has that special kind of insanity that drives him to try and try again no matter the varying outcomes, and all because of some deep unspeakable truth which drives him. He is a creature of great beliefs. There is good in the world, he knows it, and will prove it despite being surrounded by people and circumstances that would lead the average person to think otherwise. There is also knowledge... enlightenment... secrets to be uncovered in the most mundane aspects of life even. For this he is more than willing to take what are in essence grand leaps of faith and he feels incredibly sorry for anyone who isn't. What does it mean to live a good and full life if all there is to be known is there and on the surface - easy to be found? He'll make his attempts then, to gather like minded mandyrs despite the rarity of such individuals may be, for he takes little pride in knowledge that is not shared amongst equals. Yes underneath his hidebound, stodgy mannerisms, and his prudish disapproval of all things "fun" he is still very much a social creature who wants nothing more than for everyone to just get along.
Name: Kiakime (Keea-kee-mee)
Color: White
Age: 5
Physical Appearance: A smooth, creamy white. Uniform over her entire body. Her eyes are an icy blue color. She isn't as muscular as most dolphins and is a little small, but she's agile and quick in the water, graceful and gorgeous.
Personality: She's a spirited dolphin. She is happy all the time, and is rarely upset. . Extremely responsive, and affectionate, she LOVES to touch her bonded whenever she can. So affectionate, in fact, she isn't shy about talking to dragons. The dolphin doesn't seem to share her species' unease when it comes to talking to dragons. She finds, in this mind speak, a way to communicate with something other than her bonded, who she seems to have an unspoken bond with. While she isn't actually around many dragons, she uses every opportunity she can to be positively chatty to any dragon she can. Her first love is always to Diamonique, however. The bond the two share is nearly comparable to the bond a draconian creature has with its bonded.
OOC Note: Obviously, Dia is not a candidate any longer. I just want to make sure I don't cut off any possibility she has of developing as a character. So yeah, likely nothing will come out of that, but it's filled out anyway. Yayyy.
