Human:
Name: Leilani
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Rank: Junior Weyrling
Physical Appearance:
An extremely petite girl, she's of about average height. Her legs are long, taking up most of her body length and her arms are long and thin. She has very long, thin fingers and small feet. Her head is round, and she has long, wavy reddish brown hair that goes down to about her lower back. She has pale skin with just a hint of natural blush in her cheeks. Her eyes are slightly pointed and are a very, very dark brown, almost the color of dark chocolate. In poor lighting, they almost seem black, but in the light, it's entirely possible to see the dark brown hue.
She doesn't like to draw a lot of attention to her body, as it makes her uncomfortable to have too much attention on her, so she tends to dress conservatively at best. Her style of dress is most definitely feminine, just...she doesn't flaunt what she has. Which, quite frankly, isn't much. Her chest isn't huge, probably a byproduct of being so petite, but she does have very evident curves, something that she tries to hide as much as possible.
Personality: Quiet is a good word to describe Leilani. She isn't in your face at all, and her opinions are most often quietly kept to herself. She's slightly shy and wary at first meeting, but this could just be because she's lost so much that she's afraid to get too close to anyone. This doesn't mean she's anti-social. In fact, she's one of the friendliest, gregarious people you will ever meet. She loves to surround herself with people like they're a security blanket. Even when surrounded by people, she is quiet; silent most of the time. When she speaks, and she will, her words are light contemplative and pensive.
Unlike a lot of people, Leilani makes an excellent listener, because she almost absolutely refuses to talk about herself around other people. No one she knows has ever heard her talk about herself. No one exactly knows why that is. Could it be that her past was especially painful and she just wishes to keep it to herself, or could it be that she is so humble that she truly doesn't believe that her life is worth and real consequence? No one really knows, and Lelani isn't one to tell.
She seems like a very frail girl. It might have to do with how small she is, or it might have to do with how she hardly ever talks or her incredibly soulful eyes, but she doesn't look like the sort of girl that someone would want to leave alone...ever. Actually though, she has an inner fire that burns so brightly. Never one to want to take the role of "damsel-in-distress", she takes things into her own hands more often than not. Though violence is a last resort thing to her, that she doesn't like to have to resort to at all, she can and will fight with everything she has if she needs to. And she has an inner passion. When she finds something she really cares about, her passion is electric. It might surprise some people that she really can care as much as she does, with her whole being. It's just part of her that's buried beneath her many layers.
Some things to know about Lani. She absolutely loves the sea. It had been her home away from home for so long. she isn't one to get too close to people. The only one she truly trusts is her dragon, but she's fiercely protective of anyone she lets in her circle. While she likes to be around people, she'd be with Katearath all day if she possibly could. She also isn't one to make promises lightly, because once made, she would never break one.
History: Leilani was born and raised in Southern Hold. Her mother and father were also born and raised there, as was their mothers and fathers. There never really was a time that she could remember where a member of her family didn't come from the hold, and no one she ever knew left. She never quite sure why this was. Perhaps it was the sense of familiarity that the hold possessed to them, perhaps it was the comfortable (but hardworking) life that it gave to them. She never knew. She was born in the yer 2998, the middle child of many. Her mother and father worked the seas, fishing and providing a valuable commodity to the hold. Lani was raised in that life, so she is very adapt on the seas. She can pilot a seacraft, fish with the best of them, she even learned to build her own boat, providing she had the right materials to do the job.
And she loved her family, very much. They were detached towards her though. There was never really a sense of closeness between them. They worked and they worked without complaint, but still, Lani was never really satisfied. Still, she didn't know anything else even existed until she was old enough to understand the concept of dragon riders and places beyond her little hold in the south. It was then that she started daydreaming, and started shirking her work.
Her parents were never extraordinarily supportive of the weyr. They hated the idea of giving over freely things that they made, grew and earned themselves. In fact, you could say the relationship between not only Lani's parents, but the hold as a whole and the weyr was something strained. They knew what their duty was, and the tithed and allowed searches and gathers, but not without gritting their teeth and bearing it. In time, it was clear that Lani's parents didn't think very highly of the weyr at all.
And she was always clear on that fact.
So when Lani started to wish that she could be searched, understandably, her parents' feeling of betrayal was huge. They started treating the girl different. More cold, more detached. This was something that she couldn't stand, because she did love her family so. She stopped daydreaming, and started working again. Until the plague of 3013. Her family was decimated. Her mother sickened and killed, as were three of her siblings. Two more had lived, but would have lifelong effects from the plague. This wasn't a good time for her family at all. Her father grew completely detached from her and her remaining siblings, and they slowly started to disperse, traveling to different parts of the hold, and when she did see them, they pretended not to see her.
Alone and hurt, Lani didn't hesitate when she was searched one day. She didn't say goodbye to her grieving father or siblings. She just left. Her past had scarred her in very obvious ways, and none of the dragons wanted a broken girl, it seemed. She didn't impress that clutch, and doubted she ever would, because she couldn't get over her past. She lived in the weyr as a perpetual candidate, having stood for Jingth's last clutch and not impressing. She started to think that she never would impress and that her parents had been right about her...about her and the weyr. Until Millieth's last clutch. The appearance of the Wastelanders was nothing to the young candidate. They were awful, awful people, but she had had so much taken away from her, that more was bound to be taken from her, right? Lani stood on those sands, not believing that anything would happen. A lot of the clutch came out deformed or otherwise mutated and Lani found herself feeling for these broken dragonets, feeling for them because she herself was a broken child, alone.
That was until Katearath's mind brushed her's. Leilanimine, I am Katearath. Lets eat! I'm simply staaarving.. Like magic, the pieces of her broken soul were mended, and as Lani stood staring at the beautiful little green, the slaughter started. The scent of ichor rose in the air, permeating into her very being. Katerath creeled in fear, causing Lani herself to recoil in fright. She started to develop an intense dislike for the wastelanders and she was more than a little traumatized by the whole thing. Then, she knelt to the ground, wrapping her arms around her newborn green dragon, and made a proclamation to the dragonet.
I will never let anyone hurt you.
Dragon
Name:Katearath
Color: Green #b2fca4
Age: 2 (Senior Weyrling)
Physical Appearance: Physical Appearance: Katearath is a pretty little dragon, if their ever was one. The majority of her body is mint green, except on her feet, where a darker green starts at her toes and slowly fades its way up her legs. She also has a thick ring around her eye of that same dark color, making it look like she has a spot over her eye. But her coloring doesn't end there! Well, if you could call it coloring. She shimmers in the sunlight, parts of her do at least. The main concentrations are located in small patches around her eyes and huge streaks down the membranes of her wings. Almost giving them racing stripes, if you will. Smaller speckles of shine can be located at varying locations around her body, but most seem to concentrate on the skin around her talons. Speaking of talons, Katearath's toes have pearly whites to tip them, and fortunately, they don't stain easily!
Small she may be, growing to be around 20 feet in total, this green is /very/ streamline. She is slim and her muscles are compact, her body is built to reduce as much air resistance as possible. Her head is slightly angular in shape, the tip of her maw is slightly more dainty than most, and her wings are of normal width and length. But the joints and muscles around her wings are extremely strong, allowing her for precise movements. She may be able to pull of stunts and maneuvers that most Greens cannot, depending on if she is willing to work hard and long at it. Unlike most of her clutchsiblings, Katearath has no discernible mutations. She is small yes, but most Greens are. It seems as though, she is really the only "normal" Dragon to come out of Millieth's clutch.
Personality: Katearath is more serious in nature than most Greens, not silly and childish like some or dead set deadly as others, just rather in the middle. She has a habit of collecting friends, sometimes not by choice, but they are superficial. Most, if at all, are not ones she'd sacrifice herself for. Those Dragons and Humans would come second to herself and her Human. She will, of course, have friends who are close to her heart. The ones to be helped and protected. These friends are few and far between, but are all the more cherished for it. She develops these types of bonds more easily with her wing mates compared to other sources, finding them easiest to trust and build relationships with. This is not to say that she will make companions out of every single Dragon she ever shares a wing with, she is a unique Dragon and therefore has her own particular tastes. And despite finding that doing things herself or her own way is more rewarding, the Green likes to have stuff done for her sometimes, it makes her feel loved and important..
Although Katearath is not particularly opposed to aerial battling, isn't her favorite thing to do. She's fairly good at it, what with her swift turns and razor sharp claws with a mind to match... But she much rather prefers thread fighting. The Green finds it just the right amount of exhilarating, danger and excitement combining to bring her some kind of dare devilish joy. Katearath likes to cut it close with saves and other maneuvers, for she enjoys the adrenaline that comes from it. Leilani will have to get used to a lot of high altitude flying and death defying turns and flips. Even in flights the Green will be up for speed and skill rather than relying on stamina alone. Around Flight times, Katearath won’t change very much personality-wise. Perhaps she will get a little flirty, or more approachable, but so big changes will ever really be seen.

Name: Crowley
Species: Salamandyr
Hatched: October 3017
Looks to: Leilani
Color Codes: 27408b-Primary ; e6e6fa-Spots
“Nothing lasts forever, not even the best machines. And everything can be reused.”
[/size][/i]Appearance: Such a blue as this could nearly rival a bronze in size, and indeed he shall nearly be his sire’s size when he reaches his maturity. And a handsome creature he is, too, royal blue and evenly, powerfully muscled. His wings are large with thicker membranes that will allow him to sustain long glides, and his powerful tail is long and dexterous enough to allow him to manipulate small objects like silverware. His hide is all one color apart from the white spots that follow a pattern similar to that of a fawn, more concentrated along the middle of his back but still dotting down his flanks. Indeed, he might well be considered flawless if not for the fact that he hatched with nothing more than a withered stump for one of his forelegs.
Personality: Considering no salamandyr is generally considered ‘normal’, this male takes it to an extreme. He is an inherently logical creature. Though he is capable of speech, most will never hear him say a thing and will have to take the word of His that he isn’t a mute. The simple truth is that he is not altogether interested in living creatures and so can’t be bothered to speak to them unless absolutely necessary. No, he is far more taken with inanimate objects. In particular, he has the need to fix things, and actually does a fair job with the aid of his unusually dexterous tail and linear mind. If there’s nothing around to fix he might go about inventing things to pass the time, or finding other uses for things that already exist.
Nevertheless, as with any of his species, this blue does have the need to mate. (Even if he doesn’t often associate with other ‘mandyrs otherwise.) This isn’t to say he’ll go out looking for a female – or male, if one happens to be Running, as gender isn’t much of a concern for him – but if they pass nearby and he isn’t in the middle of a project he’ll likely join the Run. The only exception is his clutchsister the Love Green, for whom he has a particular fondness. Such a fondness, in fact, that he will never miss one of her Runs (even if the awkward gait his stub leg creates makes him feel rather awkward around her). And if nasty little somethings like thumb tacks and glass shards happen to be found around whichever male has claimed her last, well, even the logical can be overcome by Love and her erstwhile companion: jealousy.
