The room was filling quickly, a fact which pleased I’fael. Yes, this group of weyrlings certainly deserved to be acknowledged by the weyr and he was proud to have been their instructor for the past turn and a half. Were they ready? Well, there was only one way to find out, though he didn’t think that any of them didn’t deserve to graduate this afternoon. They had all gone through so much and while he didn’t let his mind dwell too much on the night that had changed so much, he felt that it was an important part of their time as weyrlings and deserved a mention. While weyrling lessons were a stressful time in general, most didn’t have to go through an attack during that period as well. It was something that would have broken many others, but Selenitas was proving to be a stronger breed than they had originally let on. This group would only add to that strength.
Seeing that everyone had arrived, I’fael stepped up to the front of the crowd, clearing his throat and raising a hand to get everyone’s attention.
“Ahem. I’d like to start by thanking you all for attending the graduation of Aslath’s Third Clutch. I’m proud to say that each and every student of that class is more than ready to handle the pressures and life of a full dragonrider. For the past turn and a half, they have proven over and over to me and the weyr that they are ready to accept the responsibility that comes with being a dragonrider. During the Siege of Selenitas, they showed their ability to work together and protect their home against a greater force that was determined to dominate. Rather than back down, these daring men and women chose to stand and fight for what they believed in. It is my pleasure to announce the sixth graduating class of Selenitas since the fall of the Selenitas Dynasty!”
With that, I’fael paused for a moment before calling the first name, A’fyr, going down the list in alphabetically order as he called each weyrling up to personally congratulate them.
((Crappy, late and short, but it's there))
