It might have been a nice day, leaning against her dragon's shoulder, eyes closed with a sleeping anai on her shoulder. Of course, that was only when her dragon wasn't being the wise-dragon he seemed to think he was, And just how much longer do you intend to keep this from him? Thoth asked lightly, truning his head to look at his bonded with slight annoyance. Beka however, only opened one eye to glare with, sharding annoying dragon.
"I dunno... I'm not even dealing with it Thoth, how could he?" Was it any surprise she didn't want to tell Lir anything? He was a friend, yes, but she alone was having enough trouble dealing with teh idea of a baby, a baby that could be in her life any moment. Strange as it was, at the same time as being utterly terrified of the idea, she almost liked the thought of being somewhat of a mother. Though it was very unlikely she'd be able to raise the child herself, she could still be around couldn't she? It wasn't like she had to completely put herself out of his or her life. In a waym she could make sure never to make the same mistake her own mother had. Her child would have at least one caring parent, and there was no way she was giving her child up to an uncaring foster parent either.
Well, you could at least give Calistoth's a chance. He may surprise you Mine. Thoth's words of wisdom again, his nose pressing briefly against her cheek in almost reassurance, or perhaps a way to get things done the way he thought they needed to be done. He knew well enough that it was one way to get his own way, lavish attention and affection on her until she'd feel guilty saying no.
Anai, of course, woke the moment Thoth mentioned his green mate. Calistoth, for all the little green didn't like her much, meant K'lir. K'lir meant scratches and attention. It also meant that silly bronze thing, but he could go bother Pita, and Thoth would lavish attention on Calistoth so that meant she got Lir all to herself. Hers of course wouldn't pay any attention, she was so quiet lately-- "Oh shush you." Beka laughed, pushing the green off her shoulder playfully. The green of course, screeched uphappily, attempting to cling to her bonded's shoulder and failing when Beka gave her another light shove. Annoying pet thingy.
"Oh stop being a drama queen Anai." Beka chuckled, allowing the green to settle on her shoulder once again as she absently rested a hand on her stomach. It wasn't fair, why did she have to have these decisions? Lura was a great relief to talk to, but the green rider had her own life, as Beka had hers. Was Thoth right? Should she have spoken to Lir earlier? Was it just being cowardly that she hadn't? Calistothlove? If you are not to busy, Mine needs to talk to Yours. If it's not too much of a hassle, would you bring him to her weyr please? "Thoth! That's cheating!"

Hmm. Calistoth lifted her head, her eyes whirling slowly as Thoth spoke. One wing flicked, then the other, and then she stood up and stretched out. Her claws dug into the rocky surface of her weyrledge, creating an earsplitting screeching sound that was delightfully satisfying. Her back arched as she stretched and her wings spread out as far as they could go, her rich, emerald hide catching the sunlight with a rich, gemstone highlight that was distinct to her; she always looked as though she was close to flight. After she was through stretching, she stood up and looked down at the jagged edges in the stone edge of her ledge and half-purred her appreciation. Sharp claws. Very sharp claws. Good enough to tear through flesh. She inclined her head toward where Jeminorth's weyr was and growled low in the back of her throat before flicking her tail defiantly.
And what if I am busy? she countered; contrary in typical Calistoth fashion. What if K'lirmine and I are both very busy right now, too busy to come and visit you? A slight pause. Then -- You have not come to see me in a while. Who do I need to dig my claws into?
Despite her irritable response to Thoth (that she felt was quite deserved, thank you), the green did turn her attention to K'lir. The redhead was sitting right in the middle of the floor of his weyr, digging out hardened mud from the bottom of his shoe. The mud was flaking and cracking as if cemented, but it came out well enough. That was what he got for wearing his favorite boots out to play by the river in the mud. He should've cleaned them as soon as he got back but that required more effort than he was willing to put forth; typical male. At least he knew for future reference, she supposed. Snorting, Calistoth watched K'lir pulled the boot back on and tied it up tightly, then went back to picking with his knife. Then she spoke, Stop your fussing, the shoe is doomed. You can order a new pair at that Gather you're so looking forward to. By the way, Thoth's wants to see you. Get up. I want to yell at him face-to-face.
Startled, K'lir dropped his knife, which hit the floor with a metallic clang, and then shot Calistoth a dirty look. Sharding dragon. Wait, had she said Thoth? Beka. He hadn't spoken to her in awhile. Actually he was most thoroughly convinced she was avoiding him. He briefly wondered if he'd offended her, before finally disqualifying it; if Beka wanted to blame him for Calistoth that was her problem. He blamed Thoth ... although he secretly hoped the next time Calistoth decided to Fly, she would be caught by a dragon with a male rider. Female riders were awkward, and he had no problem with his lovers being of the same sex as him. Sometimes he even preferred it that way.
K'lir stood up and dusted himself off, then scoffed at the green. He could distantly feel little, razor-sharp claws digging into his leg, but that was ignored. "Do I even want to know why you're mad?" He didn't wait for an answer as he climbed onto her back. Showoff scurried further up his pant leg. K'lir ignored him. He was more than used to the salamandyr's antics. "Fine, let's go."
I do not appreciate nor tolerate being ignored.
Calistoth took to wing and glided off her ledge, her wings spread wide. She caught a thermal and soared over to Thoth's weyrledge, where she backwinged to land with distinct grace. Her eyes whirled and she lowered herself as K'lir climbed off her back, then she turned to look pointedly at Thoth.
I am not speaking to you.
Ignoring his green's antics, K'lir ambled away from the ledge, casting a slight nod to Thoth before turning to look at Beka. Showoff finally reached his shoulder and climbed out from the collar of his shirt, then curled up and around the greenrider's ear, but was otherwise silent for once. He ignored the bronze, too, and cast a curious look at the bluerider. Having not seen her face-to-face in awhile, he had to admit she... looked like she was gaining weight. He wasn't stupid. He did not say that. What he did say was, "You summoned us?"

Then I would ask if you could please come the moment you are not? Please Calistoth, I do miss your company so, Mine has been... Unwell. The apologetic tone was instantly there, along with a soft, almost tender note that many would argue did not belong in one's voice when speaking to Calistoth. However, the moment he spotted her, there was no denying the pure delight in his eyes as he moved forward slightly to greet her. Even her comment about not speaking to him only earned a light hearted nod as he braved stepping slightly closer, ducking his head. I'm glad you came, even if you do not wish to speak to me. I did miss you.
"I didn't, that blue thing did!" Annoyance with Lir was one Beka was familliar with, he'd frustrated her the first time they'd met and even now, he was frustrating without meaning to be frustrating. Anai however, solved this annoyance issue by trilling sweetly at Calistoth first before taking off so she could greet Lir. He had that bronze lizard thing though, so she didn't perch on him, merely sent hima flurry or warm images while chittering at him excitedly. "But yes, I did need to talk to you." Getting to her feet as she spoke, Beka would have dearly loved to step back and away from this conversation, but as Thoth had forced her into it, there was nothing more she could do about it.
"I'm... Sorry Lir. I've been avoiding you, but not because of ... the flight or anything, I just... Needed... Time I guess." The words came out mumbled, and faster than Beka had meant to speak. Nerves tended to do that to a person, and though she would say with almost certaincy Lir either wouldn't care or wouldn't want anything to do with the child, he did deserve to know. Much as she hated to admit it, Thoth was right. For once. "I don't even know what to say, and Thoth don't you dare say anything to him!" The last was shot at her dragon, glaring at him as the blue tilted his head innocently before turning back to Calistoth, as always, when the green was there, she had his full attention.
Mine and Yours are to have a hatchling Calistothlove. Isn't that... Good?

If she intended to reply to Thoth, it didn't show. In fact, the only emotion that Calistoth offered was blatant agitation in the form of a low growl at Beka; clearly she did not like the tone that the girl was using to speak to Hers. Given a choice, she would likely have done something about it, too, but there was no such option - Her LirLove would not have forgiven her for injuring Thoth's, as he was fond of her. He also didn't like it when she interfered in things that he deemed none of her business, which was pretty much anything in regards to his relationships with others. She felt certain it would have done Thoth's a lot of good, however, to be reminded of her place -- far, far beneath Hers. Such a shame he wouldn't let her turn and hand that female a piece of her mind. Grr. She settled for a look that could easily have been described as murderous, her tail flicking in agitation.
K'lir settled for a raised eyebrow, but no verbal response. Instead he turned his full attention to Anai and made a low cooing noise to her, clearly affectionate. He was ignoring Calistoth's irritation and the tone Beka took with him; if she wanted his attention she could try being a little nicer. He didn't have all day to take verbal abuse from her. The only female in his life entitled to be nasty to him was the beautiful green lying next to her blue and pointedly ignoring him. Calistoth would have settled for nothing less. (It could be argued that she made similar expectations, even, of Thoth; certainly the green was picky about who she allowed to be treated as more important than her. Little megalomaniac.)
"You're forgiven; what is it you needed to tell me?" he inquired, his gaze still lingering on Anai. "Hello, beautiful. You're my favorite firelizard still. It's been far too long. You should come visit me more often. I'd be nicer to you than Yours is..."
SHE WHAT?!
To say that Calistoth's response was displeased was an understatement. If garnering a verbal response from her was Thoth's goal, he succeeded, as the green actually jumped back away from him as if burnt, her wings flaring as her eyes took on rapid, hysterical yellow-orange hues. Growling lowly in her throat, Calistoth put a respectable distance between herself and Thoth, then relayed the message to K'lir in order to explain her sudden agitation. For once she was justified even in his eyes, and she settled on the complete other end of the ledge. If not for the fact that her K'lir looked as if he'd just been slapped, she would have left, too. But she was not leaving him.
K'lir froze, tensed, and stared. It was fairly obvious that Calistoth relayed the message, from the sudden loss of color in his face. He didn't speak immediately, though. No, Showoff did that for him, climbing up to blurt out at Beka, ROTTEN! Whatever he meant was unclear, but at least someone spoke; K'lir's jaw was on the floor.

Thoth was obviously startled by Calistoth's reaction, eyes quickly taking on shades of concern as he crooned worriedly. He hadn't meant to upset Calistoth, he'd thought she'd be happy too. He was. He liked the idea of a little Beka or K'lir. Calistoth? I am sorry. I did not want to upset you? Please forgive me? I do not wish to make you unhappy. Oh no, he never wanted to upset Calistoth, but not because she could be very nasty when angry, but because he didn't like anyone he cared about being angry.
Anai chittered at him happily, crooning right back at him with a soft, happy trill. She liked Lir, besides Hers, Lir was her favourite human thing. Landing delicately on his head, the moment he showed a sign of being uncomfortable, she was worried, glaring at hers with a scolding cheep.
For a moment, Beka only turned to glare at Thoth, he just couldn't keep his mouth shut, or his mind. Annoying sharding-- There was nothing she could do about it though, and that meant she had to deal with Lir, who... Did not look happy. She deserved that completely though, deserved him to hate her, deserved it all. That didn't mean she had to like it. "Lir? I'm sorry! I-I didn't know how to tell you. I was hoping I wouldn't have to, but Thoth wouldn't let me. I'm really sorry, I know that doesn't excuse me and I know you're quite entitled to hate me for keeping it from you, but I am really sorry."
A pause, and intake of breath as Thoth continued to apologise for upsetting her, keeping the distance she'd aksed with only the exception of leaning forward slightly, worried and very concerned for her. He didn't like it when she was upset, for any reason. Because of him, it was worse. "I know it was horrible of me, and you do know I don't expect anything from you don't you? You don't have to be involved or anything if you don't want to... Lir, I really am sorry..." Not even Showoff screeching at her got a glare out of Beka, she was far too worried about losing one of her only friends.
I really am sorry Calistoth...

A low growl in the back of her throat was clear evidence to how angry she was. Calistoth did not give them permission to clutch, and she was quite of the opinion that if Thoth wanted to clutch he would do well to ask her first. Her tail flicked defiantly and she gave Thoth a withering look, eyes whirling in rapid shades of orange and yellow. The idea of a hatchling did not sit well with her at all. That would just be something else to take her Lir's attention away from her, and why did Thoth's not tell them sooner? No wonder she was as big as a dragon, she was egg-heavy! Snarling, Calistoth stalked over to the very edge of the ledge and flopped down, her entire body twitching in fury. Though, much of that could be attributed to the slight glimmer her hide possessed; Calistoth was close to flight and everything was heightened when she was proddy. But there was no doubting that she was displeased and, unfortunately, she would probably stay that way for quite some time.
You did this. You did this on purpose, she said to Thoth with no small amount of scorn in her 'voice', disregarding his apology. I will not share Lirmine with any simple hatchling. Yours is a blue, she should not clutch. You are a blue. Blues do not clutch. She is not allowed to have a hatchling when she is a blue! Slightly more frantic, she spoke to K'lir alone, Blues do not clutch! How - how did you sire a clutch when you are a green? I do not sire clutches. I WILL NOT CHASE ASLATH!
Lifting one hand to his temple to massage it, K'lir shot Beka a look of disapproval. Her apologies would have been taken and accepted, had she not added one little factor: that she would not have told him. His gaze hardened and he folded his arms, making no effort to apologize for Showoff's blatant irritation. It was entirely possible she was misunderstanding his anger, but he had every intention of righting that. He moved forward until he stood toe-to-toe with her and then, with little regard to propriety, promptly slapped her upside the head. It was not enough to hurt, but definitely meant to be humiliating, and from the anger burning in the back of his mind, she was lucky that was all that she got. He had to take several deep breaths to calm himself down before he was able to speak, and he felt certain that he sounded every bit as angry as he felt. Which was very, very angry.
"You wouldn't have told me? Thanks for the vote of confidence, there, Beka, just - thanks. How could you - why - did it ever occur to you that I'd have wanted to know, I don't know, sooner?!" Both of his arms flared at his sides, fingers spreading. He looked quite appalled and felt it, too. "By Faranth, girl, you are not always this wherryheaded or I'd have dropped you off a weyrledge a long time ago. Don't make me slap you. I don't hate you, but shard it, you should have told me. I just thought you needed to lay off the sweets!"
Turning a hint of pink, K'lir edged away from Beka and flopped down right in the middle of the floor as Showoff hissed - again. His legs folded under him and he stared up at her, wide-eyed. "Since - Calistoth's flight - that means you're due any time. SHARD IT!" Angry again, he jumped back to his feet and stomped in a circle, in what would probably have been a comical display if not for the fact that he was very clearly upset. "Of course I want to be involved, I wish you'd told me sooner so I could have, I don't know, found out what I'm even supposed to be doing, do you realize I know nothing about babies and now we're going to have one and CALISTOTH, SHUT UP! No one expects you to Chase Aslath and Beka's a GIRL not a blue, stop stressing out! I CANNOT deal with you, too!" He turned to snarl at the green, who actually flinched back in a display of fright. He very rarely yelled at her. Both of his hands came up to cover his eyes and he sighed, before speaking more quietly, "... well.. I... what all do you have... as far as... stuff.. goes?"

No! No! I would never! Calistoth I would never hurt you on purpose! Never! I have been bothering Mine to speak but she wouldn't, I did not do any of this on purpose, believe me please Calistoth! You do not have to share, that is why Mine was afraid to tell Yous, she doesn't want him to feel.. Like he has to do anything. Attempting to get her to understand, a note of panic entered Thoth's voice. Calistoth was one of few people who's opinion mattered to him, she was one of very few Thoth cared about, he hated that she was angry, and that she was angry with him was even worse! He hadn't wanted any of this to happen!
"Ouch, Lir--!" Anai seemed not to particularly find this insulting, not scolding Lir at all, merely fluttering to her bonded's shoulder to offer what small comfort she could. Beka was quite content to glare at Lir, cheeks flaming. At the same time, she was just as annoyed with him, how could he not understand? She hadn't wanted this any more than any normal person, shards, she'd wanted it far less than a normal person. "No! I wouldn't have! I would have gone on living my life like it never happened! I was scared Lir, I didn't know what to do, how to talk to you, this isn't something I was taught how to deal with like some girls!"
A bitter laugh met his next comment, shaking her head quickly and looking away. If it had been sweets, she would have been blissful, months of arguing with Thoth wouldn't have happened, none of it would have happened. Glancing back at her blue, she was met with the sight of him remaining in the distance Calistoth had set, no matter how he obviously longed to go to her, longed to make her understand he hadn't meant to upset her.
"Well I did not want to be involved. I didn't want to tell you at first because I was sure I could get Thoth to relent. But he refused. I don't know anything about them either! I don't have a mother figure to ask, Lura's much too busy to be bothered with stuff like this, I've done it on my own." Pausing as he yelled at Calistoth, she almost expected Thoth to growl right back at K'lir, though if looks could kill... Thoth knew enough to know that any reall show of anger towards Calistoth's would upset her, but that did not mean he liked him yelling at her. "Most, once I realised Thoth wouldn't give in..."

Calistoth snarled at Thoth, but otherwise did not respond. Instead she tightened her wings to her body and twitched, visibly agitated. Her gaze, however, was on K'lir and Beka. Her Lirmine was upset. The anger she felt was obvious and Lis flicked her tail. The more upset LirHers became, the more angry she was, and it took all of her effort not to swipe at Thoth in her fury. She refused to dignify him with a response. Truthfully, she couldn't say what her entire problem was. Part of her was furious that Thoth's had dared to become egg-heavy as that meant she would have to share the attention of Hers with something else. The little red thing was nuisance enough (though for the moment his temper was pleasing her and from time to time she found him an amiable companion, for his wicked streak was enough to make her respect his intelligence if nothing else), a squirming little human hatchling was not welcome. But Hers was upset for an entirely different reason and she found it difficult to disagree with him on anything. K'lirHers was... hurt. Hurt. Anyone who hurt hers deserved to be thrown over the waterfall. She could grab her - she could -
-- but hers wouldn't have wanted that. So instead she curled up at her edge of the ledge and stared, keeping herself as calm as she could. K'lirHers was already angry, already upset, not at her but she was not helping. That creature was hogging her attention again. It was all a ploy. She snarled, folded her wings against her body, flicked her tail and stared with a scarlet-eyed gaze that looked as though it could melt down the rocky walls of the Weyr. If looks could kill, Beka would have been lying flat.
Twitching, K'lir stepped away from Beka, putting physical distance between himself and the bluerider. She didn't get it, she just honestly did not get it, and he had no idea how to beat sense into her. Part of him was seething in anger, seething with each word. She kept restating, and what Beka seemed to be missing was the biggest and most important fact of all: He wanted to be part of the child's life. He did not want to be left out, to be excluded, to be ignored. It wasn't burdening him. He was hurt that she thought he wasn't worth telling, that she was so sure he wouldn't want anything to do with it. Had he ever implied that he was so superficial? So shallow, found it so easy to walk away? Where did she get such a low opinion of him? He brought one hand up to cover his face and turned away, angry with himself; part of him felt honestly like crying, though he blamed that as much on Calistoth being close to flight (and thus his emotions in an upheaval) than anything happening. Most of him just... wanted to honestly slap Beka. Slap her until she saw sense. He refrained.
"You're the most self-absorbed woman I've ever met. So much about yourself, thinking only of your feelings. 'I didn't want to be involved,' you say, but you could have betweened if that was your honest feeling. You could have removed the problem. You obviously wanted to keep the baby, so stop trying to delude yourself into believing otherwise. Thoth is your dragon, he loves you, and he would not have insisted you keep it unless that's what you wanted deep inside. He wouldn't have forced the issue. Stop blaming him and for once in your existence, step up and accept responsibility for your actions. You don't have a mother-figure in your life - fine, that's life, tough, too bad. Plenty of people do that daily. That's no excuse to deliberately keep me out of the child's life. Did it ever occur to you, before thinking 'Oh I'll carry to term then foster it' that maybe I'd have rather been offered? If you don't want the baby, I do, and you should have asked me - you should have told me right from the start. Then you wouldn't have been alone and you would have had help." He was certain she wanted to protest - may well have been trying, even, though he was talking over her enough that it didn't matter. K'lir when angry was hard to interrupt. "I don't know what I did to make you think so little of me as to believe I'd honestly want nothing to do with a child of mine, Beka, but you're wrong. You're so, so wrong, and I can't believe you're only now considering telling me, and only because Thoth insisted! I thought we were friends."
You're acting like a female, you know. I blame you. Fine. Just making sure you're aware. Are you going to yell at me again? No. I just - I I want to eat her for hurting you.
Slashing her tail, Calistoth growled low in the back of her throat, and still refused to acknowledge Thoth. The fact that Hers was gradually growing more upset did not help anything, but she felt that her words had... comforted him? Strange; she hadn't meant to comfort. Oh well. Her eyes whirled more steadily and she twitched the end of her tail. Grr. How she hated other females.
