Brelas looked around the large room as he had been assigned to watch the children as the women we're all busy in the kitchens. He thought that this was a punishment and in a way it was because he had no experience with small children. The youngest of five he never had to watch younger children and smiled as there we're only two small children. "Hi, guys," said Brelas as the children ran up to him and dragged him over to play with what looked like dolls. He couldn't believe he was sitting here playing dolls yet it was better then hard physical labor of fire stone.
He continued to play with them as he noticed that they we're of the age of seven at most. The two of them giggled at him as he tried to make voices and one snuck up behind him knocking him to the ground. Brelas turned to the child who screamed, "Give up," as the other one piled onto him. "I give up or do I," said Brelas as he used his right arm to start tickling one of them. When he tried to run this allowed Brelas to get the other one off and then started to tickle the girl. "I never give up," said Brelas as he laughed and was actually enjoying this time with the kids.
His older siblings only had babies and no older children which made Brelas looked forward to visiting them when they we're older. "Give up," asked Brelas as the little girl giggled a yes and Brelas stopped with a smile on his face?

Phaiden was of the opinion that she was far too old for the creche, but her mama was a Candidate and as much as Phai begged, everyone told her she was too young for a few turns yet. She'd asked to spend the day with Olivia or N'rik, but N'rik had Weyrling lessons and Olivia had Candidate lessons, and the new Weyr wasn't quite settled in enough to have a Harper to teach the older children, so she'd been relegated to the creche. At least she was smallish, and really only just barely a year older than the rest of the children, so she didn't stand out TOO much.
The littles had been taken off by some auntie for a nap, but Phai had been left with Inel, a boy close to her own age. They were playing dolls - Phai had charmed him into it - when the big Candidate came in, and Phaiden immediately ran over, pulling Brelas down to the ground where they were playing. "Hi, I'm Phaiden! And this," she added, introducing her doll, "Is Arabella of Bronze Beautith, she rides a bronze dragon but it's a girl. Want to play dragonriders with us?" Of course, Phaiden was thrilled when Brelas agreed, and even consented to give him a Gold dragon, if he wanted. She liked the Candidate, Phaiden decided, and when he was busy acting out a scene with Inel, Phaiden got up, sneaked around behind him, and leaped on to his back, shouting "Give up!" as Inel tackled him from the other side. Laughing delightedly when Brelas began tickling her, Phaiden squirmed and gasped, trying to catch her breath which did not seem possible, given how hard she was laughing.
Eventually, Brelas asked if Phai gave up, and she gasped again, trying to summon a better response, but she found she was laughing too hard. "Yes," she giggled, unable to stop even though Brelas had stopped his tickling for the moment. Inel had run off somewhere, so Phaiden sat up, still breathing hard and half-giggling, and said, "That's no fair, you're bigger than me, and Inel's not helping at all. Are you a Candidate?" Yes, random subject change, but then again, Phai was only eight, although she looked even younger. What did you expect?

Brelas laughed as he sat up and looked at her then smiled at her trying to give excuses. When he heard her question then he said, "Yeah," as he stood up and held a hand out to the girl. The young man smiled at her then said, "I hope to impress at the next clutch," as he noticed that the boy had run off somewhere. He hoped that even though there had been a natural disaster and the two weyrs had merged that he still stood a good chance. A chance to impress a great dragon and smiled at the girl who was no doubt a product of a rider.
He knew most of the weyrbrates we're products of riders and lower caverns women. Brelas smiled at her glad that that some of the small ones had survived the terrible event. "What do you want to play next short stuff," asked Brelas as he looked at her then had a idea? "Well tag your it race you to the creche entrance," said Brelas as he tagged her lightly on the shoulder and then did a jog before taking off down the corridor.
Brelas was acting like a child again and enjoying every minute of it. He hated the seriousness of late and the feelings of despair that the deaths had brought. The young man did a light jog to give the girl a fighting chance and just smiled. While he was not one to want to beat a small girl and just wanted to have fun for once. When he hopefully bonded with a dragon there would be no more fun and only dedicated work to raising a dragon.

Saphor had decided to jump out of candidate lessons early. She was older than the rest of the kids who were candidates, and there were some things that she already knew, though, with it being so close to Millieth's hatching, the candidate master was just trying to drill into them where they were supposed to stand, the proper conduct for standing candidates, and what to do if a dragon attacked you. That wasn't a prospect she relished very much. The woman didn't know if she wanted to be subjected to the thoughts of newly hatched dragons in such a way. She just had to remind herself why she was here. For Phaiden, all for her.
Speaking of, while Saphor was nearing the creche to check up on the girl and to see if she wanted to go home, a little boy suddenly ran towards her, giggling wildly. She was still a good way from the creche and she wondered where the person who was supposed to be watching this child was. Pursing her lips, she watched the boy, laughing out loud when he got closer. " Whoa there!" She yelled out, picking the boy up and swinging him around before returning him to his feet with a big grin. " What're you doing out here?" She asked, grinning. The boy smiled at her and pointed towards the way she was going. " I'm hidin'!" " Hmm..." Saphor mused, looking up and feigning thinking. After a while, she stooped down to the boy. " What if I hide you?" She whispered, watching the boy's eyes light up and he nodded enthusiastically.
Telling him to walk closely behind her, she started walking towards the creche, eyes hardening when a running boy came into view. She thought she recognized him as a candidate, but she could have been wrong. She wasn't exactly familiar with all the other candidates. None of them were social with the older lady with a kid. " Hi there." She said somewhat stiffly, watching her daughter appear behind the boy. " I found someone." She said, pulling Inel out from behind her. He looked sufficiently mousy and timid at the moment. " Someone I think you were supposed to be watching?" The woman said with a raised brow. And why wasn't he in lessons? Sure, she had skipped out, but she was older (albeit not by much), she reserved the right to do so every once in a while.
