Draik was curious. He hadn’t been around the dragonrider part of the weyr yet, and decided to just go see what it was like. If someone happened to be there who was desperate to sleep with a blindingly handsome (in his dreams) wherhandler, then he’d just have to oblige them. In his wanderings, he had noticed someone didn’t have a door? Obviously it wasn’t supposed to be like that since it looked like the door had been torn from the hinges, but still. It piqued the man’s curiosity. There hadn’t been anyone in that weyr, not that he actually went in and looked…without calling out to see if anyone was there, but he wanted to know if any other the other silly Riders lacked a door. But, as he made his way towards the fourth ring of weyrs, he was beginning to think that what he had seen was just an anomaly.
Oddly enough, Draisk wasn’t sleeping. The big wher was lounging in their apartment, amusement running through their bond as he witnessed his mindmate’s futile attempts at finding a lay. It had been easier before. For some reason, a lot of these guys seemed to be big prudes. Draisk reminded him that they weren’t being prudes so much as maybe they just didn’t like random sex with complete strangers. Draik didn’t think there was anything wrong with that. He did have to admit that he had a loose sense of morals. Very loose. That was just how he was. It had worked for him pretty well so far. He didn’t see any need to change.
He supposed he could have been considered creepy...creeping around the riders' weyrs. He just called it keeping tabs on future conquests. Though, that could be considered creepy as well. Draik had just come to terms with the fact that no matter what he did, he'd be considered a huge creep. So he just dealt with it.

Dododo. One of Griffin's feathers in his haiiiir. The man was humming pleasantly to himself, not even noticing that Eveyth was making soft little crooning sounds in the midst of her afternoon nap at the same time and that the pair was harmonizing. It was a thoughtless thing, just like most of their mimicry of each other slipped below the stream of consciousness. Some would call the bond too strong. Others might simply call it endearing. Either way, X'rx took no notice of it as he finished weaving the feathers that had fallen out of Griffin's soft down into his braid. The razorclaw seemed to like it very much when X'rx wore his feathers, almost like a claiming thing. And he was quite proud of his human. (Even if only he seemed to see the logic behind his reasoning.)
Only then did he notice that he'd somehow left the door partially open. Or, at least, open enough for a juvenile razorclaw to make a dash for it. X'rx thrust back his chair and, not bothering to throw on a shirt or find a belt for his somewhat loose pants, took off after the stumbling, lunging bird. Griffin was too focused on the 'mandyr that he'd spotted to notice his human was a couple paces away from capturing him and leapt forward again, attempting to flap his wings.
The greenrider dove for the hatchling before Griffin could get within striking distance of what turned out to be - frustratingly enough for X'rx - not a salamandyr at all but just a strip of discarded shiny fabric coiled conspicuously like a sleeping 'mandyr. Wrestling with the squawking razorclaw (who did not like this turn of events at all) the greenrider only then noticed booted feet maybe a foot away from his nose.
He looked up slowly, brushing bangs from in front of his left eye while still clutching the bird to him with his other arm. A faint tinge of pink colored already dark cheeks a slightly duskier color. "Um, hi?" he greeted the strange (and yes, fairly attractive) man in the hallway. Keenly aware that he'd just half-humiliated himself in front of a stranger, he managed a friendly smile for him. "Are you new?" Because X'rx knew almost everyone around. He thought, anyway.
He shifted into a seated position and clutched the bird to his bare chest, Griffin having grown calm in the last several seconds.

Draik came to a dead stop just in time not to step on the head of someone who suddenly appeared in front of him. A little surprised, Draik hadn’t enough time to realize who exactly he was looking at. There was a ball of down pressed into his…naked chest. It was just now that Draik realized that this man was hot. And he had a moment to himself, where he suddenly imagined this man and himself together in the middle of the hallway. The hell? Moments later, an icy blue firelizard exploded from between, hovering between them for a moment, regarding this newcomer. Draik sighed. Well, the flit did have a way of being right, and if he was right this time, Draik wouldn’t mind so much.
Draisk grunted lightly from somewhere in the dark of their apartment, but the man ignored his partner. The brown wher wanted to let his bonded know that he didn’t even know this man’s name…and he was imagining random sex with him. It wasn’t like it was really all him though, Wendigo seemed to like imaging people having sex. Nasty little perverted little flit.
Hello pot. Meet kettle.
Turning his attention from the flit, he looked to the dark haired man, flashing X’rx a positively charming grin. He rarely ever had trouble with people when he flashed them that grin. ” Hi there.” He greeted him, still smiling. He made it a point to look over the sitting man’s body. Draik had been well known in Hyphen to sleep with anything with a pulse…though he did limit himself to people. Adult people. He remembered a time when he was younger with a certain girl who swore she was eighteen…and that body…could have fooled him a thousand times.
The present. He forgot about the girl again (he’d probably remember her a thousand more times though), and regarded the man in front of him. “ Yes, I am. But you didn’t have to trip over yourself to get my attention, lovely. You could have had it any time you wanted.” A cheeky, arrogant grin was flashed to X’rx for a moment which cued another sex scene from Wendigo. Slightly irritated at the firelizard, he waved the beast away before offering X’rx a hand up. “ Draik, handler of brown Draisk. And may I have the privilege of knowing who you are?”

Um, was he getting the look over? X'rx blinked, not really sure whether he was comfortable with that or not. Usually didn't feel weird at all about being shirtless, but he also wasn't usually subject to someone looking at him like they wanted to gobble him up, either. In a way it was flattering. And even if that wasn't the majority of what the greenrider felt about it, he was just nice enough to give strangers the benefit of the doubt, so he settled on that. Flattered. Yes. He returned Draik's smile a little tentatively.
Lovely? Griffin had turned his attention fully on the stranger by this point, puffing up and creeing at him a bit authoritatively. Yes, yes, his human was quite lovely, now it was time to admire his masculine beauty. X'rx took the hand offered him after adjusting his razorclaw so he could keep ahold of the bird with just one arm, rising gracefully and quickly releasing the wherhandler's hand to continued snugging his little pet to his chest. His head dipped a little shyly.
"I don't know how much of a privilege it is," he murmured, sure that even his skin was showing the rather lurid blush this man was generating, "but I'm X'rx." He'd never been ashamed of his dragon. Still and all, the assumptions this person seemed to be making would not be remotely detoured by claiming her. Oh well. "Of green Eveyth." The man glanced up at his unplanned for companion, his hair not really doing much to hide his face at such a short length anyway.
"You're kind of making a lot of assumptions about me just at a glance, aren't you?" There was gentle reproof behind the words, rather than defensiveness or any aggression. Much like a schoolteacher might chide a child about something they weren't really that concerned about. He glanced back at his door, then up at the wherhandler, shifting a little uncertainly from foot to foot. It would be kind of rude to just leave this man out here, wouldn't it?
Which provoked a different curiosity. "Isn't this the time most wherhandlers sleep? You must have some business you're about." That was almost a relief. Now he could be polite and still probably not have to deal with this strangely attractive man and his disconcerting eyes. "But you're welcome to come in for some klah or something if you have a spare moment." So saying, and fully believing that the brownhandler wouldn't take him up on it, X'rx pivoted and slipped back into his weyr.

Draik watched the man for a long time. It seemed he was slightly uncomfortable with the handler’s advances. Unfortunately, that was simply who the man was. Changing himself for anyone, least of all some random person wasn’t going to be happening anytime soon. Of course, it didn’t seem to matter. While Draik did care about what others thought of him, the thought that someone might think badly of him was never enough to cause the man to change how he did things…for the most part. Of course, one will always have enemies…whether or not his actions have a direct impact on making those enemies or not is really irrelevant. If someone is so offended over some positive attention, then he didn’t really want to associate with them anyway.
As the man rose to his feet, Draik eyed the bird puffed up against his chest. For a second, he was confused. “ What is that…” Suddenly, Wendigo appeared in the air around Draik’s head once more. Never actually making physical contact with the man, the firelizard regarded the razorclaw with a bit of detached interest before he bellowed and disappeared again. The brownhandler sighed heavily. Why in Faranth’s name did something like that ever decide to attach itself to him. Ignoring this for the moment, he realized that the man was speaking once more.
“ It’s a pleasure.” Draike intoned, making sure to flash X’rx one of his most charming smiles, ignoring the grumblings of an amused wher in his head. “ I haven’t yet had the pleasure of meeting your Eveyth, but I’m sure she is a fine dragon, if her choice of rider is anything to go by.” WOW. You’re really laying it on thick, aren’t you? Draik wondered if Draisk would ever shut up and let him be. The wher informed him that the chance of that was actually pretty slim. Inwardly rolling his eyes, he eyed X’rx carefully for a moment. “ If I’ve offended you, I apologize. Making assumptions about people is generally a good way for me to get to know someone. Most of the time, they’re anxious to either prove me wrong…or right.” The man said with a chuckle.
Hm. Draik wondered if the other man was trying to get rid of him. The handler shrugged. “ Most wherhandlers. I, however, am somewhat new to the weyr, and decided to explore it for a bit.” The grin widened when X’rx invited him into his weyr. The man did sense the rider’s discomfort at his approach, but at the same time, Draik was rather intrigued by this man, even if that intrigue had nothing to do with wanting something of a sexual nature, thank you very much, Wendigo. Draik could tell when he was stepping over the line when it came to his advances. That didn’t mean he could stop it most of the time, but he could try. As he grinned and entered the weyr behind X’rx, he fully intended to take his leave should he prove to make the man further wary of himself.
It wasn’t a good idea to alienate those you were supposed to work with.
“ Your weyr is very nice.” Draik said with a grin. This wasn’t the first time he’d been in a rider’s weyr, but it was the first time he’d been in a selenitas weyr. “ It’s bigger than most of the weyrs I’ve been in.” He mused to himself, looking around, but not walking further into the rider’s home.

The flattery was still a little strong. X'rx had, however, adjusted to his present company enough by this point to react with no more than a blink and a slight smile. Polite to accept a compliment, even if the motives were rather suspect, was it not? He didn't quite get a chance to respond to Draik's question about Griffin, though, as the conversation kind of barreled on ahead, but he hadn't forgotten it was asked.
"I see," he responded, though the curious note to the end of the statement actually suggested quite the contrary in this case. "I'm not offended?" Perhaps a little confused and wary, but it took quite a bit to actually offend X'rx. Normally. He wasn't really the most high-strung sort of person around, though some greenriders did, yes, have that rather unflattering reputation.
Smile. Yeaaaah. He was getting a visitor. You know, maybe that was okay? Sometimes first impressions weren't very accurate and the brownhandler did actually seem to be backing off a bit now, which X'rx could appreciate. The guy was attractive enough. The greenrider just wasn't really the type to feel comfortable with that sort of instant scrutiny displayed so blatantly the moment they met. Being sensitive to his discomfort was definitely a check in the plus column.
"Is it?" X'rx questioned, a little surprised. "I mean, I like it, of course, and it's bigger than the one I used to have back at the old Weyr but...I guess I never really thought of it as being bigger than all weyrs. You don't mean the ones here, do you? I don't see why they'd treat me special." Verbal diarrhea. Apparently the idea of for some reason being given a larger weyr than the majority of the population had X'rx feeling nervous, the greenrider picking at his pants before he realized what he was doing and that he'd been making klah or something.
Setting down Griffin to leave the razorclaw to his own rather eccentric devices, the greenrider set about getting things out to warm up some klah, only belatedly remembering he was still shirtless and probably giving the brownhandler a nice view of his posterior right now. He really didn't often think about whether he was wearing a shirt or not. Glancing over his shoulder to see if Draik was looking, he added, "You can come in. I won't bite. Neither does Eveyth, especially when she's asleep." He smiled slightly at his mild joke.
The klah now well on the way to being ready, the greenrider moved to his bed and retrieved his shirt, slipping the rather loose garment over his head. Normally he tucked it in and wore a vest over it, but he figured getting that dressed could be construed as rude, too. Leaving the shirt unlaced at the neck, he leaned against the bedpost and regarded Draik curiously. "So...did you find anything interesting when you were exploring, then?"

At least the man was reacting better than a lot of the people at Selenitas when confronted with Draik’s advances. Good thing. While he had been conditioned to care less what people thought of him, he didn’t really feel like getting slapped, or punched today. He kinda liked his body not hurting much, thanks. So, he was a little relieved that not only was the man not creeped out by him enough to outright send him away, he even invited him into his weyr. The handler had no idea that this was an act of pure politeness, but he didn’t really care. An in was an in.
“ Good.” Draik said with a grin. “ I hate offending people, though it inevitably happens sometimes…with me.” Walking a little farther into the weyr, Drasik clung to Draik’s subconscious. I wish I could be there! It looks terribly interesting! Draik mentally nudged his bonded. Go to bed. I’ll take you out later and we can find something interesting. And inward croon and he could tell the brown was obliging him. At least this once.
“ You tell me.” he said outwardly to X’rx. “ This is my first time seeing someone’s weyr here at Selenitas.” It wasn’t completely true. He had seen the inside of that one weyr on the other tier, but it wasn’t like he walked in or anything. Draik’s morals were pretty loose, but he still had some moreals. He wasn’t about to just walk into some stranger’s weyr…at least not in this situation. “ Come to think of it, it’s also my first time living in a weyr. I spend most of my life in Hyphen.” He said, shrugging. It probably wasn’t the best idea to take some hold bred wherhandler’s opinion when it came to the size of weyrs. Also probably because he’d only really seen the bedroom of the other weyrs he’d been in. But this was a little detail that it probably wasn’t great to tell the suspicious greenrider.
He had noticed the view X’rx was currently giving him, but he pretended not to as he walked further into the weyr, eyeing the sleeping green curiously for a moment. He didn’t wander about picking up X’rx’s trinkets or anything. He just stopped near the man, gazing around curiously. “ I’m glad. Those jaws look like they would hurt.” A little snort of laughter and the rider had a shirt on. Eyeing the man, Draik’s face split wide in a grin and he gave a half nod. “ I found a weyr…with no door. I don’t know who it belonged to, or why they wouldn’t have a door. Maybe they’re just a really friendly person?” He shrugged lightly.
