Anusha stared hard into her mug of klah as if she could determine all the secrets of the world from it. Her concentration was so much, that at the fringes of her mind she could feel Minth worry. The green was resting near the Main Hall, curled up tightly like a cat, though all of her lids were closed except the thick, outer ones. Her eyes whirled a slow green that same vibrant shade of her body. She could barely feel the itty bitty body of Akos tucked underneath the leading edge of her wing. Contrary to her appearance, Minth was very much awake.
"Minth?" Anusha asked without breaking her stare. Yes, Mine?[/i] "I can't remember what it was." Such was the mood Her's had been in all morning. A determined, frustrated mood laced with an emotion the green could not identify. How she hated when others were in such bitter states of mind. Anusha added another spoonful of honey into her luke-warm klah. She'd barely touched it since she'd finished her breakfast. Minth would have to eat tomorrow, and Akos would be hungry when he woke up, or stopped avoiding the woman.
Her stare became so intense it gave her a headache and Anusha relaxed her brow. She could almost feel the wrinkles smooth away as if they'd been there for ages. They'd been there half the morning already! "I can't stand it! All I remember is that it was green!" she yelled in her mind, the frown on her face deepened and the wrinkle in her brow came back. Minth flinched a little. AnuMine, you must relax, or I shall have to sent Akos in there to swim in your drink.[/i] The white crawled out from under the green's wing and yawned sleepily. A tiny red maw on a field of white before quickly disappearing to be replaced by bright blue eyes. What?
"I don't think he would like that very much, and at best he'd probably between back to our beautifully messy weyr." The white was suddenly hovering over Anusha's mug.

Haoyamae gave a relieved sigh and smiled. Breakfast rush was over, and now was a good time for a break. Pouring herself a cup of hot klah, she moved into the Main Hall. Nhim chirped curiously from her shoulder. "Hmm?" Well, well, it looked like the Hall wasn't completely empty. Not that that was unusually, but the girl looking a bit bothered. Conversation over klah might be nice. Mae made her way over and set her drink down on the table.
For the moment, Nhim was more interested in Akos. He fluttered down to the table, trilling a happy greeting. What an odd little creature. Did it like girls too? Girls made the best bonds. After all, they had those neat places to hide in. "Anusha, right?" Mae asked. She was pretty good at remember names. This was one from Hepaticath's first clutch, if she remembered right, so she would be a full rider now. "Mind if I join you?"

At the sound of her name, the rider looked up. A woman approached, setting her klah down, and asking if she could join her. Akos stopped hovering and went to investigate Nhim. "Uh, sure," Anusha attempted to smile, but it just turned out awkward. The scowl on her face mostly disappeared as she remembered that she actually had k;ah and took a drink. The taste was more of honey than klah, and it wasn't exactly warm, either. She took her spoon and stirred the drink. Maybe that would help with the flavour.
It was an awkward moment before Anusha said anything. "I'm sorry, I'm not very good at small talk," she admitted with a sheepish smile. She really wasn't. The greenrider couldn't say she had many she would call friends, or that she often talked to "strangers" in an attempt to make them. For some reason she'd always been best talking to the younger weyrlings, but lately she'd not found time or desire to. Hepaticath's latest clutch had recently hatched, which would make all the new babies siblings of Minth, if not from the same clutch.
We are all related, if you think about it...[/i]
"May I ask how you know my name? I'll be the first to admit I don't get out much." She chuckled a little. Akos sniffed Nhim curiously. He was so much bigger than he was! The white mandyr would probably be able to ride around on the blue's back! He projected the image of...a sock? Yes, Akos sent Nhim the image of a sock.

With a smile, Haoyamae took a seat next to Anusha. She took a long drink of klah and sighed happily. She loved her work, but it was nice to take a break now and then. "I try my best to learn all yer names," she explained. "Dragons though, that's another matter." She chuckled heartily. Maybe if she had to feed them everyday she'd learn their names easier. Not that she would volunteer. Fire lizards and salamandyrs were more the enough trouble. "And don't worry yerself," she added kindly. "Can't say I don't like the peace and quiet now and then."
Nhim purred at Akos. He was so tiny! Such a cute little creature. He curled around him curiously. What was this? Pictures? Nhim had never been very good at images, but these little white worm was excellent! Nhim froze as he realized what it was a picture of. Socks were innocent enough, but the color. It was PINK! Nhim shrieked like his tail was on fire, backing away from Akos so fast he nearly fell over. No, no, no, no, NO! Clearly the white thing was evil and psychic! It knew his darkest fears. Nhim looked around frantically. He had to hide. Instinct told him to go to Mae, but she hated it when he did that. Anusha was nice though, maybe she wouldn't mind. With a flap, he dove headfirst down the girl's shirt, back legs and tail still sticking out of the top.

Ah, names. People were generally easy, being so different that you often match a face to name. Dragons, on the other hand, yes they looked different, but some were so close in shade you could easily mistake one for another. Like Ciceroth could easily be mistaken for a gold, but that was always in the forefront. "My green is Minth, in case you're wondering," she said, taking a drink of klah. The dragon was resting a little better with the lighter mood on Anusha. Her's could never stay bitter at anything for too long.
At Nhim's noise, the woman had barely enough time to see a streak of blue go for her shirt. Anusha shrieked in alarm before resolving into grabbing the blue's protruding hindquarters and gently pulling him from her shirt. She held her head back to avoid the whipping tail and legs, and whatever else may be flailing about.
Akos sat on the table, eyes a concerned yellow. What had he done wrong?! He took a couple steps forward, projecting his apologies to the blue. Sorry, sorry, sorry! Akos was sorry, see? He didn't know that the pink sock would scare him? The little Salamandyr would have nuzzled the blue if he'd been able to, but right now His had a hold of him.
"Uhm ,do you know what might have startled him?" Anusha asked, handing Nhim over to Haoyamae.

Hoayamae nodded in recognition. Maybe she would remember next time if she was lucky. It occurred to her that Anusha might not remember her name, so she thought she might as well return the introduction. "I'm..." She began, before Nhim screamed. Mae jumped, then glared at the blue angrily. "Nhim, yah pervert! How many times must I teach you?!" She reached for him, but Anusha seemed to have him under control. She sighed. "Must've seen somethin' pink," she grumbled, glancing around at the curiously pink free Main Hall. "Silly creature."
At first, Nhim thrashed when Anusha pulled him out. He clung to her shirt as hard as he could, but his small claws weren't that good at griping. Mae's shout made him freeze and go limp. He didn't like making her mad. Now she might not spoil him for dinner. Back in Mae's arms, he relaxed visibly. Mae never let pink things get him. The older woman smiled and stroked him fondly to help him calm down. Nhim supposed Akos really was sorry. Maybe it was a mistake? He still watched him warily, wondering what he would do next. Salamandyrs were tricky.

"Pink?" Anusha laughed. She'd never heard of anyone, or anything, being afraid of a colour! True, she herself didn't really care for pink, but it was certainly harmless! "Why would he be afraid of something pink?" she asked, looking around the hall. It was clear of the colour, not a fleck of it in sight. Her gaze then turned on the remorseful Salamandyr. Whatever he'd shown Nhim, it had been pink for sure, but what exactly had it been? With her finger she gently poked him and he looked up at her. "What did he see?" she asked, and the malicious, terrifying image of a pink sock came into view in her mind's eye.
Really?
Her smile turned into a bit of a smirk but then it faded into a look of amusement. "Akos here showed Nhim and image of a pink sock," she offered. She didn't know what had brought it up, but somehow it had been. At least it hadn't been a vibrant pink, if the image she'd seen had been the same one. The white's colours could sometimes get skewed. The picture she'd once seen of a neon Minth came to mind.
Akos looked at the blue now being held by Haoyamae. He scurried up to Anusha's shoulder, like a little winged worm, and bounced there. A blue sock! Yes, maybe a blue sock would make him feel better? He concentrated hard on the image as he tentatively touched the blue's mind. He couldn't possibly be afraid of his own colour! The garment came into view in a cobalt shade. He touched the mind of His with it too. See?

"He's a strange one and no mistake," Hoayamae admitted with a laugh. Nhim cuddle closer, still watching Akos warily. Mae had never really understood the fire lizard's problem. Something to do with his siblings' eggs when he'd hatched as she recalled. At least she'd never cared much for the color. "Don't take it personal," Mae advised Anusha and her salamandyr. "Besides, it seems you have other things on your mind?" She raised an eyebrow curiously. "Would you like to tell old Mae? I've a good ear still."
Nhim watched Akos crawl up the girl's shoulder. What was he up to now? He almost flinched at the invasion of his mind again, but relaxed almost at once. Yes! Blue was a lovely color. It was much, much better then pink. Nhim raised his head and crooned happily in gratitude. Akos wasn't so bad after all! He knew blue was good. White was definitely good too, Nhim chirped back.

Anusha chuckled to herself. Odd, it seemed, that a creature would be afraid of a colour. The woman wondered what might have happened to him to make him so afraid of the colour pink. Ah well, the only thing that scared Akos were loud noises and very sudden happenings...and strange people, but he didn't between for those anymore. At Mae's offer to listen, Anusha's brow furrowed and she looked back into her klah. It was almost cold by now.
"Uhm...I'm not entirely sure, anymore," she said. "All I can really remember it that I'm looking for something that's green and I'm sending it to a friend." Yes, because that was oh so helpful. She was wondering if Garel was even still around. He was of an advanced age when she'd left and she's promised that if she'd Impressed, she'd give him a ride, considering her dragon was up to it. Minth had already agreed, wanting to meet the one who had raised Hers.
To Nhim's chirp, Akos simply bobbed his head. As far as he'd been alive, he'd never made a sound or flarred his unbelievably small frill. He did, however, flare his wings. Of all Salymander colours, his body was so small his wings could actually carry him. He flapped them twice but didn't lift, ruffling Anusha's hair. Yes, yes! He was good! The Akos was good! Be friends? Yes? He sent a very friendly, non-pink image to Nhim.

Hoayamae considered for a moment. "True, that's doesn't give much ta go on," she admitted. She closed her eyes in thought, taking a long sip of klah. "Greens are green of course, " she chuckled. "But they don't keep so well. Maybe yer looking for a nice scarf, or a ribbon." It sounded like Anusha wanted to find a present, but it was hard to be sure. Still, suggestions couldn't hurt.
Nhim purred happily and bounced back to the table. Yes, they could be friends! He chirp an invitation to Akos. Would he like to see the kitchen? He knew where His kept all the special treats. He wasn't supposed to touch them, but maybe she'd let them have a few. In honor of their friendship!

Maybe a scarf or ribbon. Maybe? Her mind raced desperately, no it wasn't anything soft, it was hard, like a stone. Stone. "Yes! It was a stone similar in colour to Minth. I was going to send it to my old tutor Garel!" Her head shot up from glaring at her drink to look Haoyamae in the eye. "Though, now that you mention it, a nice scarf of the same colour would be nice to send him as well." She'd have to remember that the next time a Gather came around.
Akos responded to Nhim's chirp. He bounced on Anusha's shoulder and glided over to the blue fire lizard. Yes, yes! Friends yes! The white Salamandyr hadn't been able to explore too much on his own and even then, it hadn't been much fun. There hadn't been anyone to get into trouble with, no one to share any of his finds! Maybe with Nihm he could add to his minuscule hoard that he keep secretly hidden under His's bed in the corner of their weyr. Maybe more leather, or a few feathers? Being the odd 'mandyr, the only shiny he had was an old, tarnished belt buckle that he'd barely been able to take back.
