She'd impressed.
She'd impressed.
She'd impressed.
And it was green.
The green in question was currently asleep in the apartment Serissa shared with Casandra, the Brownhandler. Babies being asleep wasn't out of the norm, of course, but it was even more normal because hardly any of the whers would be awake yet. The ex-Bluerider (yes, she still thought of herself as bonded to a Blue, and a Rider at that) was having a hell of a time adjusting to a nocturnal schedule. She'd always considered herself a day-person to the core. Luckily, today was her first free day since the hatching, so she wouldn't have to yawn her way though a lesson in a few hours. Eikane had given them the day off rather than assign them duties this time around, presumably to give them a bit more time to adjust, so Serissa had the whole night free. And nothing to do.
The sleep-deprived Wherlings had dragged in for breakfast about an hour ago, then mostly wandered off to whatever activities they could find to do overnight. A few of the adult Handlers had drifted in, generally taking seats down the table, and an excited Piden had chatted at her for half an hour or so, but now Serissa was alone. Well, not really alone - this was the end of dinner time for most of the Weyr, so there were some riders and other general folk about, but no one was currently seated closer than two or three seats away on the long table the Handlers usually claimed. To make herself look busy, Serissa was picking at a hardly touched plate of what passed for breakfast among the handlers (generally dinner-esque foods with, like, an egg or something). It was her cup of klah that was getting the most action - in fact, she'd snagged a whole pitcher for herself.
She'd impressed, she was starting her day (supposedly) when everyone else went to bed, and she had a beautiful little green wher in her brain. Daniel was watching over Sesk while she was absent, so Serissa was in no rush to get back to her apartment, where she couldn't escape reminders of her new life. At least here it was just her mind that was confused, not all sensory inputs. At least the dining hall was familiar, normal. Now if only she could get a hold of something to take her mind off the alien, invasive wher brain that was where Ildyth was supposed to be, maybe she could have a normal meal for once.
