It was that time of the year - when summer was winding down (not that it ever truly was winter in the south, but at least at Burimyu New Selenitas it actually got coldish) and M'kai found himself driven to spend more and more time outside. Worrying only made him want to be outside more, and he had plenty to worry about at the moment; Isori, the baby, his job, A'emi... yeah. Plenty to worry about, and that list only scratched the surface. How had he managed to fuck up everything he'd had going for him in the space of what, three months? At least Kami and Futh were reliably normal.
Turning along the mostly overgrown path that led up to the hot springs (Futh had dropped him at the base of the trail, and would catch the fading afternoon sunlight until M'kai returned), the Bluerider reached up to wipe sweat out of his eyes, pushing himself a little faster. He loved running, and was decidedly not looking forward to the cold. Running around and around the rings of New Selenitas was not his cup of tea. At least they weren't being QUITE so secretive these days, so he could probably manage to sneak out on nicer days. It looked like he'd have to. Running always put him in a good mood, and he'd need a bit of mood boost on a fairly regular basis, he guessed. Things always looked better from out here - yeah, Isori was having his kid and he'd probably lose his job, but he got a hot weyrmate in the bargain, and plenty of people seemed to like having kids. He'd never felt like he was an especially good Candidatemaster anyway. So. Maybe everything was for the best?
He made another turn, panting hard now. He could see the springs up ahead, and pushed himself even harder. It would probably be an odd surprise for anyone who was up there relaxing - hot, sweaty man running past at a full sprint. Letting the rhythm of his footsteps, heartbeat, and breath envelop his brain over the last few dragonlengths, he didn't bother to see if anyone was at the springs, but slowed to a stop when he reached them anyway, doubling over with his hands on his knees. Yeah, that'd been a good sprint, but now he needed to rest and catch his breath for a minute.
