Merridan loved to be up early. Not only did it give her time to get in some sword practice before lessons and drills, but she always felt refreshed and ready if she rose with the sun. Chaoth was no different, doing a few flying exercises before his own morning meal. Today though, Merridan was doing some different exercises. She'd brought a bowl of fresh meat and fish, holding it away from Vikky's greedy clutches.
"Not today," she scolded. "Today is training day. You know that." Auron snorted at his green sister. He wasn't sure why the mistress insisted on training her too, it wasn't like Vikky could remember things from one week to the next. Merridan found a spot along the fence and set the bowl down so she could take out a fish first. "You first, Shira!" Mer whistled and tossed the fish high into the air. With a shriek, the razorclaw dove from on high and snatched the food out of the air. She landed on the fence, preening vainly. Such a simple trick for one of her talents after all.
Mer chuckled, stroking her feathers. She didn't think catching things would be that useful, but it was a good place to start training each time. Next she tossed some meat for Auran and Vikky. Auran caught his easily, but Vikky had to follow hers to the ground first and eat it there. Mer rolled her eyes. "Maybe I should have given her tea first," she commented.

The day is bright and the sun is out. Don't you think it's about time to get out of bed? Romeoth asked brightly, head hovering over his rider, who was sprawled out in his bed, half naked and barely covered by the furs on his body. He didn't have a tendency to kick them off during the night. It seemed he wasn't quite up to vocalizing like a normal person, though and simply mumbled something unintelligible that turned into a little growl as he threw a pillow at the dragon's head.
In this state, he didn't have excellent aim and he didn't quite have it in him to actually hit the dragon, who chuckled and pulled his head a bit, hooking a claw in his rider's furs and jerking back sharply. It wasn't enough to pull the man out of bed, but it was good for jerking the furs right out from under him, burning his stomach and chest. K'ian jumped up in bed, glowering blearily at his dragon. I'm hungry. Romeoth said simply, bringing K'ian's furs over for him to lay on. K'ian glared at the pain in his ass for several seconds. "Then go eat!" He nearly yelled at his dragon...
K'ian was clearly not a morning person.
I will, but you're coming with me. I hate eating alone. K'ian sighed and fell back on his back in the bed, glaring at the ceiling before deciding that Romeoth was not going to let him get anymore sleep. Grumbling and slurring his words, he got out of bed and stomped to his dresser, pulling out clothes and dressing in a haphazard fashion, which, for K'ian, always worked well. His hair took a little longer fo fix, but he returned to Romeoth before too long, plus one.
Mouse had woken following the ruckus that her mindmates had caused and had wrapped herself around K'ian's neck, glaring out at Romeoth from under his hair. He didn't mind the twin glares he was getting. He just got his rider back by leaping into the air before he had gotten settled, earning a startled gasp as he scrabbled for purchase and hissed in pain as Mouse flared her wings and sunk her claws into his shoulder. "Goddammit, Romeoth!" He heard, but he cheerily ignored it, dropping K'ian and Mouse off outside the feeding pens where there seemed to be a female and then going to go kill shit.
K'ian was still shaken up by the flight, and Mouse was hissing and spitting on his shoulder, claws so deeply imbedded in the man's shoulder that droplets of blood welled around her claws. "Fuck, Mouse. That hurts."
Then he caught sight of Merridan. He blinked, trying to place her face, until he realized, with a smile, that she was one of the brownriders. Ignoring Mouse for the moment, who was still screaming at the world, he walked over, giving the woman his most charming grin. "Hey there." He said, eying her and her pets. "Seems like you have your hands full. Want some company?" He didn't know which way she swung, but it was a fair bet that she wouldn't mind company.
And if she was into guys, well, all the better.
Mouse was decidedly less impressed, attacking K'ian's hand viciously when he reached up to dislodge her claws from his shoulder. The blood was dripping down his shoulder. "Dammit, Mouse. Get off!" She hissed again, growling and thrashing her tail, smacking him hard in the back of the neck before she eyed the food Merridan was holding. Hungry Mouse is. Now food. She hissed at K'ian, smacking him hard again. He tried not to jump, he really did. That wasn't charming or endearing. Narrowing his eyes, he resisted the urge to smack her away. "Then go share with Rom." He hissed.
Sighing, he looked apologetically down at Merridan. "I'm sorry. She's a monster. I'm K'ian." He said with a broad grin, trying to ignore it when Mouse snapped at his ear, sinking teeth into his flesh.

Merridan heard K'ian coming easily enough and turned as he spoke. Her eyes narrowed a little. The Wastelanders had been getting along fine in the past year, but that still didn't mean she trusted them yet. At least this one had always seemed alright. She shrugged. "Sure, I don't mind," she answered amiably enough. At least she didn't, but the little salamandyr on his shoulder seemed to. Mer had never really liked those creatures, which was why she stuck to fire lizards.
She couldn't help chuckling a little, though the sight of the blood made her wince in sympathy. "Here," she picked up the bowl to pass it too him. "You'd better do something or we won't be able to have much of a conversation." She tossed a few more pieces of meat to her own pets so they wouldn't be jealous. Auran was ignoring Mouse from her shoulder, while Shira contemplated how easy it would be to eat her before the man noticed. Vikky thought the little green creature was the best thing to happy all morning. She flew up at Mouse, chatting happily and wondering if the man really did taste good or if biting him was fun.
Mer rolled her eyes, but smiled at Vikky. "Seems I have a monster of my own. Don't worry about her," she waved at the green. "She's harmless unless you give her tea."
