Darya’s lip curled up in deepest contempt at another one of those silly proclamations about the so-called “red thread of destiny”. What a piece of superstitious drivel to theme your gather after! The bluerider turned away from the offensive display at the jewellery stall, noting with profound distaste as she did so that people were actually buying those bits of red string, at this rate everyone at the gather would be covered in red threads, what did that mean? Presumably that everyone was going to have a lot of fun later on when the serious drinking and dancing started.
On that last thought Darya decided that maybe she could do with a drink of something before she could face any more of this, she’d be restricting herself to the less frivolous stalls when it came to actually buying things anyway, while the jewellery was finely crafted, and the stones sold at the opposite stall were undoubtedly of high quality (and equally high price), they were not really what Darya needed out of this gather. A few odds and ends to make life at Burimyu a little more comfortable, since they probably weren’t going home anytime soon (yes Selenitas would probably always be home in her mind), were much more the sort of thing to price up.
Darya wandered in the general direction of the food stalls, looking slightly out of place among all the brightly dressed gather goers, her contribution to anti romantic defiance being shown in her slightly shabby and distinctly plain clothing, not mention the slight frown she showed the world added a clear distance between her and other people. Now, she considered, what would she like to drink? Probably not wine, she decided with a slightly pained look, remembering the last time she’d sat around drinking wine at a gather. True it hadn’t gone disastrously, but still, embarrassing, yes…
DAR! IS DAR! SEE I! The mental exclamation was no doubt heard by everyone nearby who wasn’t completely dragon deaf, but probably no one else reacted like Darya, who spun on her heel to focus on an excited, loud, and flying little frilled and winged lizard. Nor was anyone else hit in the chest by that bronze creature and climbed all over.
Imp bolted away from his mate, probably for the only time since he’d returned to Selenitas, shot up a table leg, raced over the table as a bronze blur, flung himself into the air in a graceful glide, then began to flap his wings for all he was worth, until he finally crashed into his target and proceeded to run all around her in an excess of excited, greeting. Eventually the salamandyr settled on Darya’s shoulder and licked her jaw once in an affectionate manner. Why not speak Dar? Miss you. Come home soon? Now-soon?
If anything Darya looked slightly overwhelmed by the appearance of a salamandyr she’d been separated from for several months. She didn’t really know why she hadn’t expected this, anyone could come to a gather after all, and Imp was bound to hitch a lift with someone, he liked social events. ‘Missed you too Impling. Darmori treating you alright?’
Imp flicked his frill and huffed, aware that his most pertinent question had been avoided, and Darya probably wasn’t coming home. Dari nice, Yalla nice, night ones good. Have much fun. Dar come with I now? See Dari and Harmonylove. that would be nice, if Imp could just gather his two favourite females in one place for a while. Come now. he commanded abruptly, leaping to the floor and scurrying off, checking that Darya was indeed following him.
Without any real forethought Darya followed the bronze streak through the tables, until Imp climbed up another human and perched on his shoulder, leaning over to nibble on the edge of a large gold salamandyr’s frill, or rather on the end of one of the spines set about her neck, Harmony lacked a frill but had the spines for one. Darya firmly resisted the urge to greet Darmori as familiarly as her salamandyr was greeting his. Oh awkwardness, thy name is salamandyrs…
Imp thoughtfully decided to save his banded the trouble of telling Harmony’s she was there. I back, bring Dar. Dari pay attention now. Imp butted his head against Darmori’s neck to make sure the wherhandler was paying attention to him, while Darya gave a heartfelt little groan, a certain bronze was entirely too pleased with himself today.

Why Darmori had even gone to the gather at all he didn’t really know. He had some marks but not all that many. Really it was probably more curiosity than anything else. Besides Imp and Harmony had wanted to go. He was a sucker for mandyr begging obviously. Darmosk had wanted to go too but he didn’t trust betweening all that much and the hold too far away. In the end he had left the bronze wher behind with promises to bring something back for him. It was really the best he could do. The bronze and gold on his shoulder seemed to be enjoying themselves though. Immensely. There seemed to be lots of things to keep their attention. The bronzehandler too. In fact he was kind of a little awe struck. He’d never been out of the weyr before so in a way it was also a little intimidating.
Imp’s sudden exclamation and vault from his shoulder had Darmori blinking in surprise. Uh oh. “Imp hey wait up!” He called after the small bronze and began to dodge through the crowd. Harmony coiled her tail about the teen’s neck and hissed as she dug in claws to regain her balance. Mori slow. Not have be hurry idiot. She scolded as she regained her balance. Implove find Dar. Come back will. The yellow gold said confidently as she pulled her body up from it’s sprawled position into a more regal one. Of course her bronze would come back. He had traveled from his right back to her before hadn’t he? Her love bronze. Had chosen well that night she had. Pulling up Darmori gave Harmony an apologetic look and stuffing his hands in his pockets slowed his steps. True to his queen’s prediction it didn’t take Imp long to return. Darya in tow. Oh dear.
Harmony was ecstatic at the return of her mate. Her tail coiled tightly with the bronze’s and she gave a loving croon as he began to nibble on one of the bony spines ringing her head. With a coo she addressed Darya. Happy see is. Welcome. Dipping her head she gently began to preen Imp’s frill. Together. Should be. Imp Mony and Mori Dar yes? It made perfect sense. Darmori cleared his throat and rubbed the back of his neck. “Uh…hi Darya. How goes it?” The teen hated all these weird emotions that popped up whenever they were together. Some part of him realized it was because of Harmony. But why Harmony was giving him the desire to bite Darya he had no clue. I really was awkward. There was no Darmosk to hide within either. The handler normally defaulted to retreating to the bronze wher’s mind when the older woman was around. This time that was well... Impossible. Drat. He’d just have to try and fight against the gold’s influence. Problem was he didn’t have the faintest clue on how to do that. He’d never really worked on blocking his mindmates at all. Darmori was a very open book. What you saw was what you got. He didn’t hide things. From anyone.
Hold hands. The snap command from the golden mandyr had Darmori’s hand grabbing Darya’s before he could really think twice about it. It didn’t feel so bad really. So the teen left his hand clasping hers. “Umm I think we’re stuck for awhile. You don’t mind hanging out do you?” Really the handler didn’t mind the rider’s company. Even if she was making funny noises. She had always been nice to him. Even after the extreme awkwardness of Harmony’s run. Yeah it was a little awkward with all these weird feelings certainly but he could manage okay. Hopefully.

Darya favoured the sight of Imp and Harmony curling tails about each other and preening each other as if Imp had been gone forever with an almost indulgent smile. If this was the treatment he’d been getting at home no wonder Imp always seemed so cheerful when she could sense him. Getting such a warm greeting from the yellow toned queen was a bit of a surprise, Darya had always been under the impression that Harmony disapproved of her, probably for retrieving Imp so often. Still, if the gold had forgotten that detail (it had been rather a long time since Darya had come to steal her mate after all) then Darya was perfectly happy not to remind her.
If there was ever a smug looking salamandyr it was Imp, and why not? Didn’t he have the most beautiful and kind queen of all for his mate, and hadn’t he found his bonded here and collected the pair of them together? Well yes, indeed he had, and he was very pleased about the whole business too. Yes, together. The bronze echoed his mate insistently. They should stay together, the four of them. Not go. Stay. Imp stretched his neck out toward Darya as he spoke, she could come home, hide with Darmori, under the bed, that was a good hiding place.
Darya was saved from having to answer either salamandyr by Darmori, who looked as awkward as she felt. It wasn’t that she had any particular problem with Darmori, he was a nice enough lad, maybe a bit on the odd side at times, but really who wasn’t? No, Darya’s problem was with Imp, the little bronze was totally smitten with his pale queen, Azrath had never loved, everything in a Flight was about sex with him, but Imp; he adored his mate and showed every sign of staying totally faithful and devoted to her, and that spilled over rather uncomfortably onto his bonded. ‘Hello Darmori, enjoying the gather?’ Darya inquired, selecting a fairly neutral topic for conversation. However it seemed Harmony had other ideas about what was appropriate.
A low chuckle emerged from the bluerider as Darmori obeyed his pet’s command without a second thought. Obvious who was in charge there she thought, but she made move to reclaim her hand from the wherhandler. Imp put in his opinion silently, by uncurling his tail from the gold’s, hopping over to Darya’s shoulder, and recurling his tail with his mate’s across the gap. ‘I don’t mind.’ Darya assured Darmori, lifting her free hand to scratch behind Imp’s frill with one finger. ‘I was at a loose end anyway, but I should have known Imp would persuade someone to bring him to the gather.’

Harmony regarded Darya with a placid and clam gaze. Her problems with the woman had all been neatly forgotten in the long absence. Well at least since Imp had been back. The rider was again tolerated, if not actually liked. She had let her mate return to her hadn’t she. Shamelessly the gold half twined with her smaller bronze mate upon Darmori’s shoulder crooning softly and displaying her obvious pleasure with the entire situation. Things were as they should be. Yes Imps must stay. Thus declared it must be followed. Pleased gold was pleased. The feeling was bleeding over into hers as well and as such the handler was finding it hard not to smile. Really it wasn’t so bad right? Right. Even if it was going to be hard to explain to the gold just why Darya couldn’t stay forever. Part of Darmori was really scared that the bluerider would want to take Imp back with her. Couldn’t see Harmony taking that well. At all.
Eyes flicked back to the woman as she spoke and the bronze handler smiled rather brightly. “Actually yeah. I am kind of. I’ve never been outside the weyr before. It’s kind of exciting. Like an adventure.” At least his tone displayed none of his nervousness. In fact he was rapidly letting Harmony’s mood effect him at least a little. It was still awkward certainly to have all these weird feelings for Darya but it wasn’t exactly unpleasant so he figured he’d go with it for now. If it got too weird he’d try and further analyze it then. Right now he would rather keep things as easy as possible.
Harmony watched Imp as he removed himself to hop over to his. The large mandyr didn’t protest solely because the very next minute her mate was extending his tail toward her. Crooning happily she reached out to ‘hold hands’ with her bronze. Smart Imp was. This would force theirs to keep close unless they wanted to break the grip the mandyrs had on each other. That was something the gold wouldn’t tolerate. Must be touching. With a pleasant chirp she reached over to nuzzle Darmori’s neck with no small amount of affection. Good hers. Very good hers. Darmori reached up to rub at the gold’s eye ridges his gaze flicking to Darya as she spoke up again. “Well then guess it’s a good thing I met up with you. Some company is better than none.” Giving her a warm smile he started forward back towards the numerous stalls. “I was originally going to go by myself but they both double teamed me and it’s kind of impossible to say no when you have both of them begging you.” Giving the mandyrs a look he shrugged. “At least I was able to keep Darmosk away through bribery. Even if I’m not sure what to bring back for him.” Musing on that for a minute he fell silent.
As the moments passed Darmori was growing increasingly comfortable with the situation. Darya was just another friend after all. Nothing to be worried about. “So. Where should we go first?” Food? Harmony piped up hopefully as the handler gave a sigh. “You just ate before we got here Mony.” Want food. She supplied again more firmly. Darwant food too?

Well there was one thing to be said for being around Darmori and Harmony, and that was that Darya was almost forcibly cheered up, not only did she have her salamandyr back (and yes, she did adore Imp, even when he was being a pain.), but now that she was back in the little bronze’s proximity after so long with Imp only at the edge of sensing his emotions were spilling over onto her, and Imp was almost beside himself with joy and delighted with his own cleverness besides.
Given that it wasn’t surprising when the bluerider returned Darmori’s smile with a perfectly cheerful smile of her own. ‘Really?’ Darya’s tone was genuinely surprised and curious. ‘I think my mother took me and my siblings to every gather she could find. Of course she was a people person, not to mention a fantastic haggler and dancer, gathers really put her in her element.’ In fact it often seemed that Darya had only ever taken after her mother in looks and dragonriding, she was a dreadful haggler and dancing was a spectator sport only for her. It didn’t really occur to Darya that Darmori’s parents might not have been either dragonriders or even interested in raising a child, many weyrfolk just fostered their children. Of course she was really going to have to make the effort to do everything at this gather now, so Darmori could get the full experience without her acting as a drag.
The curled tails of the salamandyr pair made it pointless to drop Damori’s hand even if she particularly objected to it, which she didn’t, she wouldn’t be able to move more than an arms length from him anyway unless she wanted to drop one or the other, or maybe both, of the salamandyrs on the ground. Point of fact Darya didn’t actually mind being unaccompanied, but she didn’t want to hurt Darmori’s feelings by saying so, and in any case she was happier with Darmori and the ‘mandyr couple than she had been alone. Instead she just nodded and waited for the handler to continue. ‘They are adorable, I certainly couldn’t resist them both asking me for something. Not that resistance would have done you any good. Harmony might have stayed but I doubt Imp would unless you shut him in somewhere. He loves gathers for some reason.’ Darya gave a shrug with her unburdened shoulder, she couldn’t imagine what a salamandyr could find interesting at a gather, especially since Imp wasn’t much for causing trouble or hoarding shiny things.
Darya couldn’t really imagine what a wher would want, and Azrath was no real help, he’d always been content with having more or less no possessions as long as he had company. ‘I’m sure Darmosk will appreciate any present, and probably adapt it to new purposes if he can’t work out what to do with it.’ Darya commented, having seen firelizards and salamandyrs adapt a great deal to their own purposes, dragons too… unconsciously Darya’s hand reached up to touch the shell necklace she nearly always wore, Oquith had been good at making things fit into her world. ‘Darmosk likes to play with everyone doesn’t he? Perhaps there’s an interesting toy that would be durable enough for him.’ In fact Darya had no idea if the bronze would even be interested in any kind of toy but it seemed a fairly good bet, especially if it was something he could lure other whers into playing with.
Darya chuckled softly at the instant response from the gold salamandyr, as well as the appeal to her. ‘Food is it little queen?’ She asked indulgently, nothing could appeal to Darya half as well as a salamandyr, and if anyone ever worked that out she’d be doomed. ‘I think you’re right, and we should get Darmori to try something as well. People always cook their best dishes for a gather.’ Yes, many good things. Dari need food. Imp added his comment as Darya subtly changed course, bringing the wherhandler along with her.

Darmori strode alongside Darya a rather wide smile on his face. “Yep. I grew up in the creche and then joined the kitchen staff. I just never went.” He didn’t seem upset about it. Indeed not. It was one of those things that just was. “Wow. You’re lucky. I bet that was fun to do. I would have liked to have gone as a kid. But it’s still as good now. There are so many things to do and see!” It was really almost overwhelming at first and the handler had even been nervous for a time but that had soon passed. The excitement of the mandyrs helped. It was hard to be scared and nervous when Harmony was radiating so much excitement. Imp bouncing on his other shoulder and making the gold happier than anything also had an effect. Before long Darmori had found himself enjoying it. Just sightseeing. But now he had Darya. That was much better than being along. Almost without thinking he gave the older woman’s hand a squeeze.
“Yeah they are quite the pair. Always so happy. It’s nice. Even if it is hard to tune them out sometimes.” He grinned at the mandyrs and their interwoven tails. “Oh Harmony wouldn’t give it up either. She’s hard to say no to.” Indeed she was. Very hard to say no to. If the handler was bothered by the almost forced proximity he wasn’t currently showing it. Nope instead he was actually quite comfortable. It was easier if you didn’t fight it. Easier still if you didn’t think of it and just let it happen. Thus Darmori was letting himself be quite overwhelmed by the gold’s feelings. For better or worse. So far seemed for better.
The bronzehandler’s mouth made a little o as the older woman at his side gave her opinion on a gift for Darmosk. Oh duh. Why hadn’t he thought of that! “A toy would be perfect! Something he could play with the others with. Hmm. Maybe his own big rubber ball? I wonder if they make them thick enough.” He mused on that for awhile and then grinned. “I could get a couple that way if he pops one he’ll know better next time. He’ll adore it. Thanks for the idea.” Yep his bronze would be in heaven. He could already see the look on his big goofy face. Well that was easier than he thought it might be. Darya was so smart.
Harmony gave a loud and sweet croon to Darya. Yes. Morilove need try good food. Many yums. Enough for all. She said generously, tucking her wings tighter against her back. Good Imp’s. Yes Darya met her approval. The large yellow mandyr was beginning to forget why she had ever disliked the woman in the first place. The gold had a long memory but she tended to be good at letting previous slights go. Darya was quickly making up ground with her. Food was definitely the way to her heart.
Darmori gave a chuckle and allowed the bluerider to steer him towards the food stalls. He was outnumbered apparently. That was okay he could do with some food anyway. When they drew up to the stall his eyes widened and he examined the menu. “Wow. How am I supposed to pick?” Me pick? “How about we let Darya pick.” The handler said with a decisive nod. Harmony gave a huff but then crooned. Dar pick yes. “My treat for hanging out with me today. Go ahead get whatever you want.” Darmori urged giving her a wide smile and nudging her with his elbow. He didn’t get to spend marks often anyway.

Darya might have felt slightly guilty about bringing up the topic, except that Darmori didn’t seem in the least upset about not being raised by his parents, whoever they were, it wasn’t that uncommon a situation she supposed, especially in a Weyr when a child’s father wasn’t always readily identifiable. ‘It was but I’m sure I caused a lot of trouble.’ Darya admitted, thinking of all the times she’d wandered off while her mother was bargaining. ‘Once I tried to convince a man to sell me a runnerbeast for half a mark.’ True she had been six at the time, half a mark had been a fortune to her, and the stubby legged shaggy coated runner just adorable (and so very nearly a dragon, just needed wings and a few other bits). ‘For some reason he didn’t go for it.’ She added with a shrug.
Darya plotted where she was going to drag the wherhandler off to next as he spoke, unfortunately most of the stalls that were unique to this gather were also rather on the pricey side, and small wonder since this was a mining hold. She’d heard there were some interesting competitions going on though maybe they could go and have a look at those, not to mention laugh at the participants, even if they couldn’t join in. ‘I’d have to agree.’ She nodded, broken out of her thoughts by the comment on the salamandyrs. ‘They’re adorable but as far away as I normally am I do get occasional bursts of Imp’s emotions, and he can get distracting sometimes.’ That was still rather odd, she didn’t even think she’d be able to sense Imp from that far away when she’d sent him back to Selenitas, but once again, salamandyrs seemed to be able to do the unexpected. If they weren’t so unpredictable they’d be very useful indeed as a group. As if was, they were often troublesome and incredibly hard to say no to (at least she wasn’t the only one who found that), but also adorable. When they weren’t causing trouble at least.
The bluerider nodded as her companion planned what his wher might like, it had to be said that Darya was inexplicably but incredibly pleased her suggestion had worked out so well, especially since it had just been the first thing that came to mind when she thought of Darmosk owing any object. ‘To be honest that was probably a lucky guess, I really have no idea what a wher would want. It seemed a good idea though since Darmosk is so playful, not to mention social.’ Darya admitted, although she was grinning happily. ‘We’ll have to go and have a look on his behalf. Right after we get something to eat.’ The last sentence was added entirely for the benefit of Imp, who had stiffened and gripped her shoulder firmly with all four sets of claws as soon as she mentioned doing something that wasn’t what Harmony, and therefore also Imp, wanted to do.
Harmony was really quite sweet when Darya wasn’t trying to reclaim Imp, not that she had any intention of trying that at the moment, she’d only end up sending him back if she managed it; Imp was very attached to his mate. Darya chuckled softly at Darmori and Harmony. ‘The food stalls are my favourite part of any gather.’ She commented. ‘I normally have whatever smells best, although in this case it could be a hard choice.’ Darya examined the menu herself, then peered over at the various foods, trying hard to decide what Darmori and Harmony should try, obviously bubbly pies were essential, you couldn’t have a gather without at least one pie.
In the end she gave Imp a prod to get him to move back onto Darmori’s shoulder and ordered the pies, a portion of the braised short ribs, because they smelled positively divine, and a portion of the salad with grilled wherry and blue cheese in, because Imp loved cheese and grilled wherry and she was certain Harmony would too. ‘Is there anything you want to add to this little lot Darmori?’ Darya asked, making a note of the price so she could at least offer to pay him back some of it, as she loaded their food onto a tray, along with two empty plates so both of them could claim portions of the food for themselves, and assorted cutlery.

As Imp scampered back to Darmori’s shoulder Harmony immediately twined her entire tail firmly about his and for good measure draped a wing over him as well, pulling him possessively into her side. Blinking at the food the gold crooned and nudged Darmori’s cheek. Should pick something Mori. She encouraged. Solely because more food meant more food. Who didn’t want more food? Giving the mandyr a patient look the handler turned to smile at Darya and then added some fried calamari to the order. On second though he added fruit juice for the mandyrs and some klah for each of them as well. Needed drinks obviously. Paying the stall owner and grabbing his food he followed the bluerider to a nearby table and carefully helped set things out. As Harmony and Imp vacated his shoulder for the table and the food upon it he sat down and gave his companion a wide smile.
“Food was a good idea. I didn’t realized how starved I was until now.” Reaching over he split all the food into two equal portions and then offered Harmony a piece of grilled wherry. Giving a bright chirp the gold accepted the morsel and nibbled daintily before surprisingly nudging a portion towards Imp. Well it was surprising to Darmori anyway. He’d never seen the gold share with anyone. Guess there was a first time for everything? Taking his eyes off the mandyrs he tried a bite of salad, his eyes widening at the taste. Swallowing he smiled. “Wow this is much better than what they feed us back home.” As if suddenly realizing what he said his smile dimmed a little. “Darya? Are you ever going to come back?” He hoped so. Someday. Somehow. If only for Imp and Harmony. Even though the bronzehandler would admit that he missed her visits too. So did Darmosk. “Things aren’t that bad where you are, are they?”
Trying on concentrate mostly on his food his gaze nonetheless traveled towards the bluerider on occasion. Maybe such a sobering topic was bad? Darmori really didn’t understand everything that had gone on in the Wasteland attack. Oh he got most of it but well. Things had changed and yet at the same time not. It was a topic that tended to make lots of people still sad he had noticed. At any rate the handler had Darya as his companion currently. He should take advantage of that. Let Imp spend as much time with his bonded as possible too. Yes. Grinning he tilted his head. “Regardless I’m really happy to get to see you. We should take advantage of it. Maybe we should go to the toy stall next and get Darmosk his present? Then you can pick where we go next?” Nibbling on a piece of calamari he chuckled. “I even have a half mark if you want to try for another runner?”

If there was any doubt in Darya’s mind that her salamandyr was far more claimed by his mate than his bonded Harmony was certainly doing her best to dispel it, and Imp was responding by pressing shamelessly against the gold’s side, if she was pressed Darya would have to admit that it hurt a bit, but since no one was pressing her on the issue she ruthlessly shoved that sentiment down and let Imp’s emotional state take the edge off of hers. Imp, however didn’t notice such things and simply stretched his neck out towards Darya and the food while Harmony did her part in persuading Darmori to pick something. Good food, do like. He complimented the humans happily on their choices.
It took a little organisation to get everything over to a table and sorted out, but somehow it was managed without anything hitting the deck, two pairs of hands were infinitely better than one. Imp hopped down onto the table, looked around, stood up on his back legs to give the flower in the centre of the table an experimental nibble and settled down in the middle of everything while around him the two humans moved food around. Best place for us, see all, know all. Taste all too. the salamandyr commented quietly to his mate, his tail sweeping the area beside him invitingly.
‘See?’ Darya teased with a slight smile. ‘You should listen to the little gold. She’ll remind you to eat.’ The rider couldn’t bring herself to make a derogatory comment about Harmony’s figure, her size just seemed to be part of her overall strangeness, instead Darya nibbled on a rib and watched the two salamandyrs sharing food. They were utterly adorable but Darya had sneaking feeling that if she was around the pair too long her blood sugar levels would overload. Darmori’s reaction to the salad was also worthy of a smile, although she didn’t really get a chance to say ’I told you so’. Come home now. Imp echoed the question in his own way, taking his attention off both food and gold for a moment to reach over and nuzzle Darya’s fingers.
After a moment of silence, in which Darya stated at the rib she was eating as if it might have all the answers, the bluerider sighed heavily. ‘I don’t know, I hope I’ll be able to someday, but it probably won’t be soon.’ Her fingers reached out to rub across Imp’s hide as she spoke. ‘Where I am is fine, except there’s no place for the dragons to sun. Azrath hates that.’ As comforting statements went it wasn’t much but Darya didn’t much care to overshadow the conversation with thoughts of a counter invasion, in which more people would inevitably fall. Thrice cursed northerners, why couldn’t they keep their petty wars at home? The thought caused Darya to spear some bacon on her fork with more than necessary force.
‘Oh yes, we should go there next. I need the time to think of where I might like to go after that.’ Darya replied with a crooked smile. Even with the awkward topics that abounded she couldn’t help liking Darmori’s company, and the image of Darmosk with a new toy was irresistibly cheerful, much like the bronze himself in fact. ‘Thank you Darmori, but I have Azrath now, I don’t really need a runnerbeast. Although It occurs to me that they don’t normally backchat you as much as smartass blue dragons.’
I don’t backchat at all. It’s a lie, a cruel lie.[/color] Azrath commented causing his rider to roll her eyes for what seemed to be no apparent reason.

Harmony crooned softly and affectionately licked Imp’s head, her larger body leaning into his as he spoke. Yes. All here is ours. She stated with no small amount of pleasure. As far as the large gold was concerned she was the queen of all she surveyed. Dementia or no Dementia. Her mother had a blue as a mate after all. Where as Harmony herself had a proper bronze. Head dipping the yellow gold gingerly took a bit of the rib Darmori offered her. Turning her head she presented the other side to the bronze so he could nibble on it as well. Her tail twined tightly with his as she quietly enjoyed the food and her present company. Harmony was in an immensely good mood currently. And why shouldn’t she be? She had hers, her mate, and Imps. It was just pretty much perfect.
Yeah it was nice. This whole thing. Darmori would admit that and he gave a light chuckle as Darya commented on listening to Harmony. Yeah she’d remind him to eat all right. Food was impossible to forget around his rather large mandyr. But he didn’t mind. It meant he got three meals a day. When Imp also picked up on his question the bronzehandler paused in his meal and poking his salad with his fork waited for his blue riding companion to comment. Darmori didn’t completely understand everything that had went on with the Wastelanders. But he knew enough and understood enough to know that Darya couldn’t come back yet. Or something terrible would happen to her. It didn’t stop him from wishing she could come back though. And sooner rather than later.
When Darya started speaking Darmori half smiled at her and nodded. “I understand. I wish you could come back but I know you can’t.” Not until the invaders left. “I’m happy it’s not too bad but yeah that kinda stinks for the dragons I guess.” Whers didn’t have to sun but before the handler impressed he had been working as a drudge in the kitchens and he had seen plenty of dragons sunning on the river banks and in the canyon all the time. They seemed to love the sun and it’s warming rays. It was a real shame that Azrath couldn’t enjoy them.
But it seemed as if his companion too was willing to get away from the depressing subject of her exile. That was good with Darmori. It was better to spend time together and enjoy it anyhow. “Alright the toy stall next then.” He agreed happily before taking another bite of salad. Darmosk was going to be so excited when he finally got that ball. He really wished Darya could see it. Maybe though if he still had the ball when she came back he could play with her some night. Yeah that sounded like a plan.
The bronzehandler grinned as the bluerider went on. “I suppose so. I just figured maybe now that you had experience you could maybe haggle someone down to a half mark.” He replied in good humor before deciding to pay more attention to his food. Once they had finished dinner they could go do more interesting things after all.
