Name: Roselle
Age: 25
Turnday: August 15, 2997
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Rank: Greenrider
Weyr: Inverness Weyr
Physical Appearance:
There was nothing very extraordinary about Roselle - she was beautiful but there was a coldness to her beauty. Brown eyes were flecked with green and honey hues which would probably seem warm on most people, however when placed on Roselle's petite face they just gave a cold glance before moving on to the next thing. Waves of raven locks cascaded down to fall at her shoulders, some shorter strands framed around her face. Her skin was lightly tanned though somewhat pale compared to other Southerners, probably due to her spending most of her time indoors. She was slender but not delicate by any means, she was toned and could hold her own - she had to with four brothers! Standing roughly 5'5" with sensual curves in all the right places she was beautiful, but not extraordinary.
Her clothing choices reflect her overall physical appearance. She dresses relatively nice but not overly so. Favoring pants over shorts unless it gets hot out, sandals or boots, and most of her shirts are muted earthy tones. All her clothes fit her figure well though and some of her shirts dip lower in the neckline and show off a bit more of her, ahem, 'assets'. She does own some dresses and fancier clothes in jewel tones, as well as jewelry - however the only time she seems to really dress up or put a lot of effort into her appearance is on special occassions, which there are few of in her life.
Personality:
Growing up the only girl in a home full of boys to a father who only wanted sons was rough.
Growing up in a hold that had tradeskills more suited for men than women was rougher.
Losing an older brother, who was also her best friend, was something she'll never get over.
The once warm and bubbly young girl turned cold and rough, unfriendly even - like many people in the area seemed to be. The laughter had left Roselle at a young age, and while occassionally one might catch a glimpse of warm in her cool eyes or a rare smile she was generally stand-offish and not social.
For those few - very few - who got closer to her they would find someone who was fiercely loyal and protective. She loved deeply but such love came only after time and respect, once someone had her respect and love it would take something major for them to shake it. However it took a lot to gain her trust, she had no patience for liars and kept her guard up against those who would use her for their own plots and whims.
She had a level head on her shoulders but at times she had a bit of a temper - anger seemed to be the only emotion she hadn't quite mastered masking. She believes hard work pays off and is definitely a hard worker, she doesn't like those who are lazy. Roselle feels cheated when it comes to her life and while she may not speak of it out loud she strives to find something better for herself, because she deserves it.
When it comes to men she is versed, though not as well as some of the other women of the hold. She does not openly flirt and rarely 'chases' after any particular man.
2997-3008 : Into the fold...
Roselle was born mid-September, 2997 in Hyphen Hold - the fourth born child out of five and only daughter to Eani and Rusel (much to Rusel's chagrin). Her three eldest brothers were Easin (August, 2989), Rasel (March, 2993), Reanil (April, 2996), and then one more was born after her, Selin (June, 3001). All five cildren took after their parents in appearance - dark hair, dark eyes, and most were fairly tall. The boys were more muscular of course, save for Reanil. Reanil was more slender and feminine in appearance than his brothers, perhaps it was for this reason that he and Roselle ended up being so close.
Roselle and her brother Reanil were in fact best friends from the time she could talk. They did everything together, everything except crafting that is. While Eani was thrilled to have a daughter to dress up in clothes much cuter than those the boys wore, Rusel was less than thrilled. He only saw Roselle as a problem, having no use in the mines and little use elsewhere either. Seeing that the brother and sister were so close caused him to be harder on Reanil, pushing him to work harder in the mines than he'd pushed Easin or Rasel. It was this hard pushing that eventually led to a tragedy that would hurt the family - but have the most impact on Roselle.
Growing up, despite the fact her father never truly loved or valued her the way he did her brothers, she was friendly. She was sweet and talkative. Her laugh was infectious and she was quite often smiling; nothing could break her spirit - she had her best friend by her side all the time and that is all she needed.
Unfortunately as Thread began to fall again and tensions rose due to Selenitas riders coming and force-mining at Hyphen Hold Roselle found herself the outlet of her father's frustrations. Kept in her home most of the time the 9 turn old's bruises were never very apparent to others - and the few who had seen them kept to themselves, Rusel was not a man to anger if you could avoid it. Eventually though Rusel stopped hitting her - she never really knew why but it might have had something to do with the black eye he came home with one day after she had been out trying to sell jewelry to the dragonriders from Selenitas, one of the Bronze riders had seemed particularly interested in why she was so banged up. The young girl had lied of course, she had been told to blame the bruises on falls during playing or rough housing with her brothers, but the rider didn't seem convinced. Rusel had come over and sent her home shortly after that and a few hours later came home with a shiner, cursing dragonriders and all people from Selenitas under his breath.
Around her 11th turn her father began hinting at sending her North to one of the Crafthalls. He had her trying her hand at various crafts so he could decide where to send her off to - not that he really cared where she went, as long as she was no longer his problem. However before he could follow through and have her shipped North tragedy struck - there was an accident in the mines and Reanil was severly injured. The best healers of the Hold could do little to save the boy, and a sevenday after the accident he died. His death spurred Eani to champion on Roselle's behalf. The young girl was devestated by her brother's death, they couldn't send her North now, especially since the Weyrs up North were at odds with one another - Rusel agreed she could stay at Hyphen with them.
3008-3016: In and out of Hyphen...
Soon Roselle found herself thrusted into a new role - a part time babysitter for her neice, Cairenn. Daughter of Roselle's eldest brother, Easin, Cairenn was around 4 turns old and nothing short of adorable. She idolized Roselle, and in turn Roselle doted a bit upon her - her neice helped fill a hole that was left by Reanil's death. It wouldn't bring her completely out of the depression she had fallen into when her brother died, but having Cairenn around certainly helped. She sympathized with the young girl - being the only girl in the family and having a jerk for a father.
Shortly after Roselle turned 14 turns, her father had hatched a new plot to get her out of his hair. Nevermind that despite not being a miner she still provided services which brought in marks; Roselle reviewed stones and minerals brought up from the mines and she was skilled with manipulating metal and making fine jewelry. Rusel would not praise her talents or even acknowledge them, he just wanted her to be someone else's problem. Though Roselle was not the same friendly and cheerful little girl that she was prior to her brother's death, another miner of Hyphen did show some interest in having her as his bride. Her mother had produced fine young men and in the 30 turn old man's mind that meant Roselle should do the same. However before the marriage ploy could be fully realized, Roselle's husband-to-be was killed in a mining accident (much to Roselle and Eani's relief).
Roselle managed to avoid being married off to any of her father's other aquaintances somehow even though the man did try. The four turns that had passed between the death of her proposed husband-to-be and now had been rather uneventful for Roselle. Her family was never into politics so she knew little about the world outside of Hyphen Hold. Her older brothers traveled away for some time and when they came back she heard them telling some of their friends about Benden riders defecting after a Fort rider became the new Weyrleader... but she thought nothing of it. She had no friends that were dragonriders, none in her family had ever been Searched, so the affairs of the Weyrs and riders were not her concern - at first. When Hyphen's tithings to Selenitas were stolen though, she grew more interested in the going ons of the Weyr. She detested those that were responsible for the thievery of Hyphen's tithes. Who did they think they were, stealing Hyphen goods!
Still after a few sevendays of fuming over the subject she let it slip from mind. A Gather was being hosted at Hyphen, and she needed to get her jewelry ready to be sold...
What a Gather it was, interesting and deadly even. Those who had been stealing the tithes were outed at the Gather by some of the riders from Selenitas - the thieves were riders themselves! Roselle managed to stay out of the way though, she hadn't even been there that day, she'd been in her shop perfecting some jewelry to sell the following day. Not that she'd been able to, with all the trouble the riders caused. Shortly after the Gather her father told her a friend of his from Blossom Hold was visiting and that he'd arranged for Roselle to marry him. Furious Roselle grabbed her things and left - with no real destination in mind. As luck would have it (thought Roselle came to feel very UNlucky), Roselle ran into a curious Green and her rider, Tenlie, just outside of the deserted Gather grounds. After a very short and strange encounter, spurred by someone calling her name, Roselle agreed to be Searched and become a Candidate at the Weyr.
3016-3017: Stuck in Burimyu...
Unfortunately for all involved, Tenlie had failed to mention the Weyr she was doing Search for was Burimyu Weyr - not that Roselle would have known what or where that was had it come up. She learned upon their arrival that the Burimyu riders were the ones responsible for stealing the Hyphen tithes, along with others. Furious that she was now essentially stuck at Burimyu, Roselle grudgingly accepted her role as a Candidate. Going to lessons and doing chores, she kept to herself mostly - aside from a few brief conversations with one of the older male Candidates, Torino.
Time passed and tragedy struck the small Weyr as the lone Goldrider of Burimyu was killed. Her Gold stayed on the Sands to watch over the eggs she'd laid. Roselle did not know the Goldrider, nor did she feel the effect or understand the gravity of her death - until the day she stood on the Sands. As she looked over the eggs she suddenly felt wave after wave of different emotions, something the young woman wasn't used to. Just as she seemed to be getting herself under control again she was surprised to find herself being stared down by an apple-green dragonet on the Sands.
The Green touched her mind and spoke to her, making Roselle now a Weyrling at Burimyu Weyr. Perhaps now that she was to be a dragonrider, the Hyphen born young woman would become more interested in the affairs of the Weyr and form a bond with her fellow Weyrlings and the riders at Buri? Or perhaps even Impression can't shake her from the mindset she grew up with, or bring her out of her cold and impassive ways...
A few months passed without much incident for the weyrling. Burimyu stole tithes from a tithe train headed towards Selenitas - and Sel's patrols attacked. Only one rider was lost though. In memory of him the Weyr had celebrated - and Roselle got drunk. The details of that night are a slight blur and embarrassing to Roselle - so she doesn't talk about it.
3017-3018: New Selenitas...
Shortly after that there was a small quake in Burimyu - the epicenter had been right by Selenitas Weyr though and the destruction there was unimaginable. The councilmembers of Burimyu went to Selenitas and offered assistance. Since then Roselle and Tserieth have been helping move the Selenitas survivors into their new home and showing them around.
Nothing much has changed for the weyrling overall though... perhaps the new surge of people and joining of the Weyrs will bring her more opportunities to make new friends?
... As time passed in the 'new' Selenitas, Roselle found herself with little to no new friends to speak of. So much for new beginnings, eh? Still some good has come from the move - and some bad. She aquired a razorclaw hatchling - a pet, her first one if one doesn't count Tserieth. It is, different but she has learned to deal with the flying beast and has even managed to teach Pan a few tricks. Not many, but some. Lucky for her she didn't own a firelizard or a salamandyr - a strange illness came through and wiped quite a few of them out.
Something happened with the whers - she noticed a few smaller ones about so she assumed it was a hatching. Then there was a big ruckus overnight, monsters or something of the like. Being busy with training and working towards becoming a full rider kept her mostly out of the know-how of all of that.
Speaking of training... after putting in more than her fair share of time training, both with the class, away from the class, and with a select few other weyrlings - Roselle graduated. Now a full rider she just awaits being assigned to a wing and further training. Perhaps now that she's a full rider someone will give her a second glance and take her more seriously...
3018-Present : A New Dawn...
The next few turns brought about change for Roselle - the first being she was allowed to go on Search, and her first stop was Hyphen. There she bumped into her niece, who Tserieth insisted was to be a Candidate. So after a short fight with her brother Easin about Cairenn's fate she took the girl and together they fled Hyphen. Once at Selenitas again her niece fell into the role of being a Candidate while Roselle resumed her life as a rider.
The next major change was Selenitas' new involvement in the war. Joining with Benden against Fort, Selenitas sent many riders North to fight - Roselle was not one of them. Deemed too young to fight the rider and Green were kept south to keep the Weyr safe from Threadfall. While they were skilled at this, Tserieth longed to be North - something her rider did not share a desire for. The young Green was skilled in the skies though, fast, agile, and aerial battles intruiged her. Still they stayed put and waited for word.
Word came, and it was not anything she wished to hear. More and more riders were being lost, and while she did not recognize all the names she heard whispered as being amongst the dead she did recognize some of them. In particular her old Weyrlingmaster's name. Crushed by the loss of so many riders she wondered what the leaders of Selenitas were thinking joining the war.
Then came better news - the war was over. The joint efforts of Selenitas and Benden had been enough to crush Fort Weyr. Pern would be at peace now and things would go back to normal. Or so she hoped.
Normal would not come she quickly learned, as a Summit of leaders was put together in the North. They deliberated without much word being passed down to the Weyrs until the end when the fates they had decided upon were given out - changes were coming. Crafters were to be sent to Holds. Holds would tithe to the Weyrs - there would be Selenitas in the south and Inverness to the north - and in their tithes would be Candidate aged non-crafters if there was a clutch available. No more Searching. Riders would not get away from the changes, they were being split. Some would go north to Inverness while others could remain at Selenitas. Roselle was among those being sent North.
Grudgingly she accepted this, though Tserieth was much less understanding. The only good that came of it was T'ri would be staying in the south, so Roselle could avoid more awkward run-ins with him and whoever it was he was sleeping with this week. Packing did not take long, and soon she and Tserieth went north to help build Inverness. The location was not ideal in Roselle's opinion, an inactive volcano? But no one had asked her opinion... For the first time since leaving home she was beginning to feel like she was back at Hyphen with her father looming over her and controlling her life - except this time her life was being controlled by the Summit's decisions... and she hated them just as much as she hated her father.

Last Scene Green
they have their exits and their entrances,
and one man in his time plays many parts
Name- Tserieth
Color- Green (#88B05E)
Age: 1 turn, 3 months (October 3016)
Dam and Sire- Gold Jingth and Brown Chaoth
all the world’s a stage,
and all the men and women merely players
Painted rubies and glossy browns drape themselves across the surface of the Last Scene Egg, an elegant stage with vertical lines flickering through the entire creation, giving it a very tall appearance—a stage upon which golden figures link ‘hands’ around the width of the egg, all of them in the process of bowing down. Each figure varies slightly in shade, so that on one side a very pale gold makes up an entire figure, while on the exact opposite side, the darkest, burnished bronze-gold appears, with the many middle shades in between.
A touch of the Last Scene Egg will elicit a keen curiosity; an entity very much in tune with its surroundings and the minds of the Candidates. It’s impossible to hold on to or pinpoint; there is no beginning and no end, merely the feeling of a slippery consciousness in and out as fast as blinking.
Appearance:
The green isn’t a particularly large creature, settling right about ‘average’ for a green. Tserieth’s body shape, however, is notable in that it’s very, very feminine – a dangerous kind of femininity. Every line in her body is smooth and sinuous, serpentine to the extreme, with fluidity even in stillness that can be hypnotic. Her head is slim, elegantly defined with large eyes and long head knobs that curve backwards, and arch towards each other, almost touching at the point. However, make no mistake – Tserieth’s beauty comes with an edge of steel, visible in the long sharp teeth and the wicked curve of her claws, and in the whiplash tail.
In movement, Tserieth rarely wastes time looking pretty. Of course, she manages to look at least somewhat graceful anyway, for the majority of the time, but every motion the green makes is based on efficiency, on time. And speed, Tserieth is good at – even if endurance she isn’t. Her wings are pointed at the edges, short and wide and just made for those wingtip turns and rapid spirals as well as extraordinarily high speeds. On the ground, Tserieth isn’t quite so graceful. The green still likes to go fast, and she does go fast…she just kind of scrambles and hops awkwardly at high speeds. Not very attractive.
Color-wise, Tserieth’s appeal lies very much in the eye of the beholder. Her hide is mottled, primarily a grayish apple-green shade, with lighter splashes appearing all over. There is no particular pattern, and the difference in the two shades is small enough that Tserieth just looks like her hide is rough in texture. A darker, more olive-green color spreads across her muzzle, fading around her eyes, and the tips of every one of her neck and tail ridges. Her wing membranes are nearly entirely translucent, tinted only a vague hint of the same green as the rest of her hide.
Like her older siblings, Tserieth possesses the ability to see at night. Her first eyelid is translucent – but also reflective, a natural one-way mirror, of sorts. It allows her to see almost perfectly as long as there’s some sliver of light that she can rely on, no matter how small. Whether it’s a gift or not is up to debate (no doubt Tserieth will want to stay up all the time) – but it can certainly be helpful.
Personality:
Tserieth is one of the creatures that makes it nearly impossible to truly like her, but very easy to respect her. Somehow, she doesn’t seem to notice that she has such an effect on people – or if she does, it amuses her terribly and she likes to keep it that way. The green has a fascination with detail and deduction, and it will be apparent even from a young age. As a hatchling, it won’t be unusual for her favorite ‘game’ to be choosing a random person or dragon and just watching her, and then offering insight into that person’s life based on what she can see within a five-minute span or some such.
The idiosyncrasies of individuals will always capture her imagination and attention, the way that people act and the smallest of details, and Tserieth is ridiculously intelligent. She’ll be very good at piecing together evidence into an actual act (or else, fabricating such a complex lie that others will believe it, if it suits her), but Tserieth has a habit of focusing only on what interests her. The green tends to be overly oblivious to things that she has no concern with, and past the few special subjects (for example, she all but adores the idea of theft or other crimes, as well as aerial fighting), she’ll be utterly useless.
She’s arrogant, nonetheless, despite the gaps in her knowledge, with a particularly roundabout way of doing everything and a very dry sense of humor. Usually speaking in cryptic, short comments instead of ever truly explaining herself, she delights in making everyone dance to her tune, and has a habit of omitting things just so she can further confuse people. Tserieth also has a fondness for the Socratic method, often making others explain what happened using it or analyzing people with it – and if she notices that it usually frustrates and irritates people, it’s to her advantage to ignore that.
Name: Pan
Species: Razorclaw
Gender: Male
Age: 2 months (Nov. 3017)
Clutch: Cloud Burst
Dam and Sire: Shira and a wild razorclaw
Egg: Fog Egg
The smallest of the eggs, the Fog Egg sits behind the other two as if hiding. Its shell is perfectly smooth and warm to touch. Its color is a dull grey that seems plain at first. However, if one can look closer, one will see shifting shades and depths that make this truly a mysterious egg to behold.
Appearance:
In contrast to his siblings, this small male is almost entirely brown. His feathers are a rich, dark brown that shines with a red glow in sunlight. His belly is covered in a soft grey color that spreads into bands down his back and colors two of his tail feathers. He does share the mask of the rest of his siblings, edging his eyes and beak with black. In flight, his colors are sure to display beautifully.
Much smaller than most razorclaws, this male will need extra care from his human. His muscles and bones are more frail than most and his body is delicate. While he is a fast and agile flyer, his endurance leaves something to be desired. Had he been born in the wild, he may not have to fledging and his human will need to be sure he doesn't injure himself. That being said, he will be capable of hunting on his own and extra skilled at taking down smaller prey, even darters. His wings, though small, are long and pointed making him an very fast diver.
Personality:
Curious and adventurous is this young male. Despite his size and strength, he will try his best to learn all he can about his world. This extends to exploring inside as well as out and trying to meet nearly everything living thing, that won't try to eat him. Like his mother, he is quite intelligent and will be a willing listener when his human tries to train him. He can been easily distracted, however, when sent on tasks out of sight and earshot.
While he likes to hunt, this male doesn't mind being fed and pampered to a point. He needs his space though, so don't expect him to hang around all day when he has things to investigate. Being small, he won't bother fire lizards or salamanders much, but he is fond of others of his own kind. He'll even try to chase the females, though with his small wings he might not win many. Usually he'll try to display his wits with fancy tricks or steep dives.
