Name:K’ian (Kassian) Age: Thirty-three turns Gender: Male Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual. Rank: Bronze Rider
Physical Appearance
The first thing one might notice about him is that he is very tall, even taller than most of the people in the weyr. He stands at a very tall 6’5’’, and with the way he carries himself, he seems even taller. He walks with a casual confidence to his stride. His hair is longer and falls to just below his ears. His eyes are a gentle blue-green color, and his skin is an even tanned color. His general physique is muscular, and it’s obvious when he isn’t wearing a shirt. He’s a pretty ripped dude. He has a tattoo of a star inside a sun on his chest.
K’ian likes to dress casually, no matter what he’s doing, he prefers to be comfortable. You’ll mostly find him in button down shirts and comfortable trousers. Very rarely will one ever find him in anything more formal, but it isn’t a complete impossibility.
Personality
Much like his dragon, K’ian is a very laid back person. He’s extremely carefree and is just the kind of guy to sit and wait a situation out. Doesn’t mean he is opposed to getting his hands dirty…he’s not, he just prefers to wait and see what happens. Mellow to the extreme, it’s difficult to get him upset or riled up, very difficult. However, that means that when he finally is upset to the point of actually being /angry/, he blows like a volcano that’s built up over years.
He’s easy to get along with, mainly because he’s so relate able. He’s charismatic and has an awesome sense of humor. The guy is almost always making some kind of joke, and can’t seem to take most things very seriously, to the point where one wonders why he’s even a dragonrider at all, let alone the rider of a Bronze. The thing is, he can switch from a giant goofball to dead serious in an instant, especially when he or his dragon are threatened.
An open book, it’s easy to tell what he’s thinking at any moment, and he isn’t shy about telling people, either. He’s also quite the social butterfly and thrives on interaction with others. It’s a good thing that he’s actually a dragonrider because he wouldn’t be able to handle being alone all of the time. It would drive him crazy. He also has a pretty lax work ethic. This doesn’t mean he’s completely lazy…he just has a hard time knowing when it’s time to work and when it isn’t.
History
Kassian was born in Benden. A typical weyrbrat, he played with the other kids. His entire life he knew what he wanted to be, a dragonrider…part of that elite group of men who always commanded so much respect. Before he was even old enough to stand, the war began. Kass’ parents weren’t the most influential people in the weyr, but they knew that this would be a bad time for a boy to impress, so they forbade their son from standing.
Unfortunately for them, getting a teenage boy to do what you want them to so when they want to do something different is virtually impossible, and when he was only fifteen, Kassian became K’ian, impressing a bronze named Romeoth. Luckily for him, Romeoth was different from his siblings who were found to be mutated. More than a little traumatized by what he saw that day on the sands, K'ian turned all of his attention on his new bonded, and almost as soon as they impressed, the pair were thrown into a rigorous training program. Bendon had need to train weyrlings as quickly as possible, and so K’ian was part of Benden’s shortest weyrlinghood ever.
Ever since what he had seen happen to the mutated hatchlings the day of his Impression, K'ian had developed an intense dislike bordering on hatred for the weyrleader. For the first time in his young life, he had thought about leaving Benden, the place of his birth, to find somewhere more suited to his liking. Of course Romeoth wouldn't let him leave. An intense desire to protect his life and the life of his rider spurred him on. Knowing that if K'ian left Bendon, he would be at the mercy of felines and thread alike, so K'ian stayed despite his better judgment. It seemed fate was smiling on the young bronzerider though, because C'leon soon met his death at the hands of his own mate and the former Benden goldrider Kaegan. Silently pleased, K'ian was content to live his life for his weyr, and he was excited to see who would become the next weyrleader. K'ian never entertained any notions of becoming one himself. He was content with his lot in life, his dragon begged to differ and that didn't stop Romeoth from chasing golds, he didn't win, however. It seemed that J'lorin would be a much better weyrleader than C'leon had ever been, but it seemed now that Fort was in control of Benden. Torn between how good things were for them and loyalty for his birth weyr, K'ian didn't know what to think. Luckily for the pair, an opportunity presented itself in the form of the bronze rider Ja'kin. For once, he found himself championing a cause. He had never been to this...Selenitas, but if it could help them win back the place of their birth, then why not try? Young, confused and rash, he decided to accompany Ja'kin.
3015 - Not a big presence on the wastelander front. Kinda in the background as he acclimates to the weyr.
3016 - Still acclimating, shut up. Doesn't fuss much when H'nes takes Ja'kin's place as weyrleader; still sees himself as too inexperienced for such a position.
3017 - Wingleader in the fight against the Burimyu thieves. Fights well, and Romeoth kills Ilydyth when the blue turns against him. OH NO EARTHQUAKE! Rom chats up Nitrath while K'ian is trapped. He witnesses H'nes commit suicide after Quarth is killed in the earthquake, tries to save the man, but ends up with chunks taken out of his paws...ow! Afterwards, K'ian is a key player in negotiations between Burimyu and Selenitas and the two weyrs merge.
After Millieth's hatching, K'ian becomes a councilmember along with Eikane and he does council stuff. Impresses green Mouse and freaks out when she runs and is caught by her sister Titania...and has sex with A'emi...low point. Kinda has a crush on the greenrider Elsyia, but she's with S'rei, another bronzerider. Rom makes fast friends with Khiraeth, and K'ian meets Qaena. Inexplicably likes the shy girl and is determined to bring her out of her shell. It doesn't help when Rom whens Khir's maiden flight and K'ian and Qaena get much closer.
Rom likes cuddles, so he cuddles with Khiraeth, Weith and Sparath. He becomes unoffical weyrmates with Sparath, becomes Spara's 'butterfly' and is perfectly okay with his. He makes K'ian facepalm. Mouse almost dies in the pet plague, but after some treatment, lives...even though she now speaks backwards.
3018: Rom chases Nitrath, but loses gracefully. He's pleased that his bff Weith won.
3019-3023: In 3019, Mouse runs and Kaegan's salamandyr catches her. The woman is unable to between due to an injury and K'ian is told that she's pregnant. He almost-not-quite freaks out, but not really because he doesn't do that, because he isn't sure that he's ready to be a dad. He's still pretty much a bachelor, and he knows that his life isn't great for a kid. Fortunately he warms up to it some. Kaegan isn't as horrible as she could be to him and when Inanae's born, K'ian really steps up, helping the goldrider as much as he possibly can. Despite any lingering feelings of insecurity he has, he wants to be a good dad, and no one can call him a bad one.
He comes to adore the little girl, calling her his 'little may flower'.
K'ian is involved in the war, but doesn't get any significant part in it. He's okay with this for the most part. He loses his power as a council member, but oh well...it gave him a headache anyway. Romeoth's bff Weith and his Weyrmate Sparath get moved away from him and he is sad, but he visits them all the time. He still hangs out with Khir all the time and he catches blue Chakraith. He likes her a lot, so they decide to permamate. K'ian hates Romeoth for permamating with a dragon with a male rider.
Towards the end of the five turn period in 3023, K'ian gets a surprise in the form of a seven year old boy who is - apparently - his son. The boy resulted from the maiden chase of a green Romeoth won way back in Benden. K'ian hadn't even known that the rider had been pregnant. But seven years later this boy is dropped off in his weyr after the death of his mother. And though he's already been a father for three years, he doesn't quite know what to do with an older child.
Especially when this older child is a boy and doesn't really want anything to do with his father. Which really sucks because K'ian wants to be a good dad, even to Ranthian. So he's going to try, even if it kills him.
Not thrilled with the prospect of possibly becoming weyrleader, but there's no way Romeoth will let him get out of participating in the weyrleader trials. Decides he's going to give it his best.
Dragons/Whers/Fire Lizards/Salamandyrs:
Name: Romeoth Color: Bronze AE4100, 401700 Age: Eighteen Turns Physical Appearance:Romeoth isn't overly bulky, though he is larger than your average bronze. Most of his mass goes into subtly defined muscles that work well on the dragon's frame. His chest is deep and his wings are positively massive. He doesn’t seem to fly the fastest out of all the bronzes, but he can last a very long time while flying, having tons of stamina. His neck is long, muscular and curved, perfectly proportioned to the rest of his body. His hind and forelimbs are muscled and perfect for taking off.
Romeoth is mostly a gorgeous burnished bronze, the color extending over the top half of his body, wings and all. The bronze continues down his abdomen where it meets a very dark, almost black hue that spreads along the bottom of his tail, hind paws and the tips of his wings. Between the bronze and the black in his wings is an almost golden tan color that lightens up the middle of his wings. The dragon’s muzzle and the tip of his tail is also tipped in the very dark brown almost black color that he sports on the underside of his wings. There are very light tan circles on the inside of his middle wind membrane, almost looking like eyespots when he opens his wings up. All in all, he’s a gorgeous dragon, and like all bronzes, seems to glow when the sun hits his hide just right.
Personality: Romeoth matches his name to a tee. He’s a cheerful guy, and a complete playboy. He’ll be in the middle of almost every chase, green or gold, it doesn’t matter to him. He isn’t picky about his females. If there’s anything Romeoth likes more than chasing the pretty girls of the weyr, it’s flirting with them. No female escapes the dragon’s scope of interest, not even those currently mated. Though he will flirt constantly with every female he possibly can, he wouldn’t actually snatch any females out of the sky. All in all, Romeoth is a very charming dragon, and very vocal at that. At any given time, most dragons know what he is thinking.
Romeoth can also be extremely poetic, meaning he doesn’t have to be the fastest dragon in the sky to get the girls. He knows all the right things to say to sweep them off their paws. He relies on swooning the females rather than flying faster than the browns, blues and other bronzes, even. If his words don’t work, he is perfectly capable of catching a female on his own. He just enjoys flirting.
That being said, Meo is very attached to his rider. He chose K’ian for a reason, and the dragon’s personality matches his rider’s to a T. There are no secrets between the pair, none. Meo would freak out if he couldn’t hear K’ian’s thoughts. The bronze genuinely loves his rider and is extremely protective of him, hovering close whenever something even begins to threaten him. Fascinated by the human species, Romeoth will seek out humans and just watch them, even if his rider isn’t around.
In all, it’s difficult for Romeoth to be serious for too long. He likes to play pranks and goof off, but if the lives of those he care about are threatened, he turns into a monster.
Waning Gibbous Green
Name: Mouse Age: Hatchling Born: Six Turns Color: Green ~ Base coloration: [54FF9F], Eye spot, wing membranes, speckles: [4D6B50] Species: Mandyr Looks to: K’ian
Physical Appearance:
This green falls somewhere in the mid sized range of her color spectrum. Though not a slender and pretty looking green she is not really fat either. Instead she falls in the category of too chubby to be called skinny and not quite round enough to be called plump. Her eyes are alluring and slightly almond shaped, set into a head that is just a little too tapered to be called square. Upon her back sit two fully formed and graceful wings. Although they are not large enough for full flight she will be able to use them to perform effortless glides. Frilless she sports tines that are just a touch shorter then the rest of her siblings and a touch thicker too. Not for her are the sharp ends some of her siblings have acquired. No the tips of her tines are rounded and blunt. This is not to say that she could not sharpen them to points if she wished but such things are not of foremost importance to her.
In coloration her body is a pretty shade of sea green, the color having just hints of bluish undertones that are only extremely apparent when she is in bright lighting. Her hide while not shiny will never be dull. Instead it almost looks soft to the touch. If she were ever to grow ill it will however it will be easy for hers to notice because her hide is prone to paling to an almost white shade when she becomes too upset. Like the rest of her siblings she sports a perfect circle of a grayish green over her left eye. The color also shades her wing membranes and falls in little speckles all over her body. The biggest concentration of these speckles collects across her muzzle and down her spine. She is certainly an interestingly marked mandyr even if most would not call her traditionally pretty.
Personality:
This little lady is pretty much the definition of ‘Drama queen’. Everything revolves around her and if you displease her you are sure to hear about it. Anything and everything is a major production for her and she’s quite the little actress, adept at making you believe that she’s really dieing from not being oiled often enough. She’s perfected the art of the puppy dog eye and she seems to have been born spoiled. She demands all the best that life has to offer and she is not happy with anything poor quality or even of average quality. How do you expect her to survive without the very best? If you so much as offer her anything beneath her standards she has no qualms of throwing the biggest fit Pern has ever seen and making sure everyone knows how abused she is and what a terrible bonded you are. Thankfully in speech she is not very eloquent. Especially when she is upset and tends to mix up and misuse her words. Though I’m not sure that makes being screamed at for all to hear any better.
She’s extremely possessive of anything she views as hers. From her bonded, to their other mindmates, to whatever other human takes her bonded’s fancy. Whatever belongs to them ultimately also belongs to her and must also fawn over her accordingly. If they don’t then they will be subject to her displeasure as well. This green is obsessed with shiny things and will frequently covet anything shiny that she can get her little paws on. Doesn’t matter if it was yours before. As soon as she sees it, it then belongs to her. She will not be content until she has the biggest and most impressive hoard of all the mandyrs and the shinier the contents the better. Thankfully she forgets about one object as soon as she begins to covet another so if she does steal something important from you it shouldn’t be a big deal to ask for it back. Unless she sees hers trying to take from her hoard.
She dislikes firelizard unless they are bonded to hers whereupon they simply become her slaves, put on the planet to bring her gifts and make her look better. She hates other female mandyrs with a passion and they will be subject to flung insults and general bitchiness even if she’ll never raise tooth nor claw to them. She’s not a every physical sort preferring to let her nasty words and gestures get her point across. On the flip side she adores males of her species and will become quite the flirt, doing her level best to steal all their attention for herself. In matters of mating she’ll choose only the best males and brownie points if they bring gifts to her runs. Though she’ll likely never pick a permanent mate. Her standards are simply far too high.
