Humans:
Name: August
Age: Twenty-nine
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Rank: Brownweyrling
Weyrmate: Osnat of blue Perienmoth
Physical Appearance:
August is rather average in appearance. Standing at five feet, nine inches tall, he’s about average in height. Overall, he’s extremely lanky, even if he isn’t particularly tall. He had thin arms and thin legs, though his legs aren’t any longer than his torso. Strangely, he is more muscular than one would think. He has chocolate brown hair that is about ear length and rather shaggy, depending on what he does with it. It tends to look a little greasy, which adds to his unkempt appearance. He isn’t dirty. It just looks like he doesn’t care for his appearance all too much. He does have a positively infectious smile, as long as someone can get him to smile. When he does smile, his face lights up, and his eyes, which are a pale hazel, positively beam.
Personality: If an observer were to describe August in one word, lazy would probably be that word. He doesn’t like to do very much at all. His favorite thing to do of all time is take naps. Though he is lazy, he will do work if he absolutely has to, but not without whining and complaining the entire time. He just…does the minimum amount of work to get by. He’s often very unenthusiastic about most things. It’s difficult to get him excited about most things.
He has an easygoing nature. He’s an extremely likeable guy, despite his laziness. He’s easy to talk to and easy to be with and just plain mellow. He’s one of those guys that draws people to him, whether he likes it or not.
It would seem amazing that he’s made it so far in life. Though he’s lazy, he’s extremely intelligent, something someone just wouldn’t expect out of him. He’s pretty much a genius, but not a lot of people know because his laziness keeps him from utilizing his own intelligence. If he could just apply himself once in a while, then he’d be able to achieve great things. Unfortunately, he isn’t terribly ambitious. He just is. He loves to play games, especially games that require strategy. He’s also big on playing pranks on people, especially if said pranks require some thought.
Unlike his sister, he prefers silence and being by himself, unless he’s with her. He does share an unspoken bond with her. It isn’t a psychic connection or anything, but they know each other better than anyone can ever know someone. One of the only things that he gets fired up about is Sydney. If someone were to wrong her, they’d face his wrath. Also, it may not seem like it, but August is a very creative kid. He knows how to play the guitar and play it well, and he can sing like no one's business, though he would never sing where anyone else can hear, so it's a fact that no one knows.
History: August was born in late 2993 and Sydney in late 2994 in Selenitas hold. After three boys, their parents were excited to be having a girl. Their mother likes to say that they showed their personalities, even at birth. Sydney barreled her way out, ready to eat and cry right when she was born. August, on the other hand, came much slower. He took his time coming out, and was a very easy baby to take care of, while his sister was troublesome from the beginning.
The siblings’ life was very good early on. They never wanted for anything. Their parents were well established crafters and all of the siblings got along very well, for the most part. August and Sydney had an especially close bond, being very close in age. Though they weren’t twins, they had been together almost every day of their lives.
The hold as a rule had always been close to the weyr that it was under, of course mounting tension between Benden and Selenitas was clear, even to the hold people. They paid their tithes and did everything required of them, but they were still worried about relations. Of course, when search riders came and searched out one of the siblings, there was little anyone could do about it. August did not want to be searched, not at all, and he definitely didn’t want to leave his sister, but there was no way she was going to be able to come with him, and his parents convinced him to go alone.
So, starting in late 3012, when he was ninenteen August lived at the weyr alone, making a name for himself as the lazy candidate. He never impressed, though he stood at hatchings. He was sure it was because he missed his sister so much, plus his laziness kept him from applying himself in the weyr. A year or so into his stay, when a plague was making its way through the weyr, killing all those unheathy enough to not be able to withstand it's ravages, Sydney showed up out of the blue, completely distraught. The very same plague had ripped through the southern holds, killing their parents. Their brothers had already moved on by this point, so Sydney was left with nothing. She decided to move to the weyr to take up a craft and be with her brother. August welcomed her with open arms. Despite her rowdy past, or perhaps because of it, Sydney got into the infirmary at Selenitas, though she never lost her rowdy tendencies, however. August, on the other hand, decided to try and get involved in the harpers of Selenitas, though he's a little hesitant to possibly sing in front of others.
When Selenitas was taken over by the Benden defectors, August and Sydney found themselves more or less unaffected. Of course now August did more work and was often pushed harder than he was pushed before the wastelanders, but nothing happened to them that was too horrible. Unfortunately, August was standing at Millieth’s last clutch, when the wastelanders culled several dragon hatchlings. Though it did take a lot to fire him up, the slaughtering of several innocent babies did just that. He would soon harbor a deep hatred for the wastelanders, but not tell anyone except his sister.
3016-3023: Hangs out with Sydney, befriends Osnat at the hatching where she impresses Leviathan. Stands at Millieth's billiards hatching and impresses Oth. He finds it odd to be half of the equation of an unbreakable twin bond, as S'rring isn't his favorite person in the world, especially after the other weyrling's salamandyr wins a goldrun and almost ends up traumatizing Uth and Oth. Gets closer to Osnat because she doesn't annoy him too much or really make him do anything.
He isn't involved in the war, but he and Osnat make a deal with one another to become fake weyrmates, since they're the only ones each other can really stand. They aren't really weyrmates, but are good at faking it and they get sent to Inverness together along with S'rring and Uth.
Candidates Only
Name Contraction (Males Only): Au'st
Queen Only? (Females Only):
Desired Dragon Color: Any
Dragon, Wher, or both?: Both
Dragons/Whers/Fire Lizards/Salamandyrs:
Based off of: Conniving Twins
Name: Oth
Age: Six Turns
Color: Brown #1F14005B3200150E01
Appearance: Brown like the wet, dark soil of the Jungle, Oth is a monster. Large, boxish and muscular, there are very few who will want to tussle with Oth even at a young age. He and his brother have shorter legs and necks, making them look like a Dragonic version of a bulldog. They even have the square, powerful jaws for latching onto others for maximum destruction. Oh, did I mention Oth was muscular? Frightfully so in fact. He won't ever be fast in the air and his maneuvers might be slow, but get in close and his reactions are nothing to sneeze at. If he wants you in his jaws, you will be in his jaws. If you stray too close to his wickedly black talons, you'll be ripped up faster than you realize. His wings are long and broad, and they have to be, otherwise this Dragon could never get in the air. Because Uth and Oth are identical twins, it is physically impossible to tell them apart. Only mentally or by the word of them or their Riders can you even have the slightest chance of differentiating between these two Browns.
Other than being large and brown, Oth has only one or two other distinguishing marks. Around his neck is a thick, band of color, closely related to the look of stained leather. Which brings us to the next topic; the thickened skin that all of his Clutchmates have. Starting around the base of his head, it travels down his neck and covers the entirety of his back, leaving his belly mainly free of the mutation. The majority of the thickened skin is the same muddy brown color as the rest of his hide, with of course, the exception to the 'collar' section of his neck where it intersects before spreading onto his back and stopping before it reaches his chest. The membranes of Oth's wings are slightly darker than the hide on the wings leading edge, and harder to see through than most of his kin. For the skin is stronger and more durable given the weight and mass it must support through the air.
Personality: Oth is... not very bright. He certainly won't win the award for the most creative dragon either, but what he is good at is taking and following orders. Obviously, its so much easier to just do what you're told than tell someone to do something. That involves thinking and thinking can get tiresome. That being said, Oth is extremely submissive only to Bronzes, believing that they are practically made for command. But that Bronze has to be firm with Oth, otherwise he'll sense the uncertainty, like a dog smelling fear. And what does a dog do when they smell fear in their leaders? Test them, poke them, and eventually leave them for another alpha. He's just subversive like that. Although he may not be as smart as Uth, Oth is definitely stronger and more bull headed than his twin. Tough and cruel are also not far off of the Brown's personality, and throughly enjoys adding insult to injury.
Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Oth is that he has a mental connection to Uth, as strong as any impression between a human and a Dragon. Oth and Uth are always in each other's minds, and therefore, partially in the minds of their twin's Rider. Their human's will be able to feel the presence of the other dragon, but not able to hear their thoughts. Because the two Browns are always together, they tend to use "our" "us" and "we" most of the time and will only say "I" "me" and "mine" when they differ in opinion. But Oth is not all about doing the Bronze's dirty work, no, he too has is vice... and thats women. Oh, women. He loves women. Greens and Golds, it doesn't matter. And female humans? He absolutely adores them, especially female Riders. He doesn't mind Green and Gold Whers but tends to keep Dragon company over them. But he knows he falls for the charms of women, so he has to limit himself. It wouldn't be good if he got manipulated by a female!
Wilderness Green
Name: Amelia
Species: Salamandyr
Hatched: Five Turns
Looks to: Au’st
Color Codes: 9db68c-Primary ; bcde91-Swathes ; cfdbc5 – Starbursts
Appearance: Like her bronze clutchbrother she is long and lithe, though of course smaller due to her color, and equally graceful in wing and by foot. In fact, had they not been most definitely hatched from different eggs anyone would claim that the Wilderness Green and Divination Bronze were twins. Rather than a golden-bronze base coat, though, this green sports a metallic silvery green hue like the light of the moon, a slightly darker green etched faintly over the silver to make it seem like she has tiny scales. Along her spine true silver starbursts speckle. All she needs is the faintest tendril of light to cause her to shimmer, but she moves with such stealth and grace that most would not notice her approach until she was already upon you.
Personality: A wild creature, she, who likes nothing better than to stalk her prey – the bigger the better, though unlike other ‘mandyrs this green is well aware of her limitations and never bites off more than she can chew or otherwise trick into an untimely demise for her supper – in the witching hours. Yes, this particular salamandyr is nocturnal. She will be tamed by none, though she returns to Hers during the day, trusting him to keep her safe until she can once again roam the halls and jungles without in search of the next great challenge. Or at least the next meal. Any creature (yes, even a gold of any species) that seeks to command her will be disappointed; she follows her own tune.
Similarly, she does not Run. Nor does she Chase, not really, though a maiden Run without this shining silver beauty will be a rare Run indeed. Having no desire to give over her freedom or any part of herself to a male (or female) she cannot fathom why a maiden green should want to, either. Clearly the males are dogging the poor creature, and who best to be their rescuer than the virgin huntress of the night? Any male joining a maiden salamandyr Run had best be wary, for this little girl pulls no punches, and she’s not likely to give warning before she goes in for the kill. A green already caught by another ‘mandyr is lost, but the maiden greens are hers to protect.
