Wingrider
Physical Appearance;
Qaena has bouncy, curly dark brown hair that she keeps around the bottom edges of her shoulder blades. While she doesn't have any proper bangs, her hair easily creates a curtain in front of her face anyways, intentionally or not. She has dark - almost black, really - brown eyes that always seem somewhere between teary and sparkly. She has thing but wide-set eyebrows that arch upwards and give her a surprisingly open expression. She has a thin mouth and when she smiles without teeth (as is most common) she tends to look a little pained. Her nose is long and a little wide but doesn't stick out overly much.
Qaena, unfortunately, is not all that pretty in build. She has a noticeable amount of fat on her that, while not severe, certainly is not the norm for Pernese people - dragonriders in particular. Despite the extra weight, none of it has settled around her breasts and she actually looks like a younger teen just coming into her bust. Her hips are only wide at all because a good amount of fat has gathered there though it really isn't enough to give her any sort of proper figure, either. To round it all off, Qaena is shorter than average, standing at a 5'2" that hasn't changed since she was fourteen.
Clothing-wise, Qaena's style is hard to pin down. This is because she tends to emulate her favourite peoples' styles, regardless of gender. So, some days she may be wearing baggy male clothes and others she can be dressed in skirts and pretty tops. It really depends on who she is friends with and who she wants to be friends with. A veritable chameleon, this girl.
Personality;
Qaena will never be anything but shy. However with age and changes in the environment and people around her she's not quite as bad as she was when she was a teenager. The end of the war has left her optimistically hopeful about people in general and while she often still needs to mentally coax herself to do something new or unusual it comes a little easier than it used to. Besides, there's some fun in trying and succeeding and she's grown attached to that feeling. Alternately, failure isn't quite as strong an emotion as it used to be. She can make a mistake or miss a connection with someone and not beat herself up for it too harshly.
Not to say Qaena doesn't still observe everything to death and isn't cautious about bringing ill on herself. There are still a great number of people she simply will not associate with and more still that she wants to but can't bring herself to. It is not uncommon for people to begin receiving odd little gifts left anonymously for them if she's too scared to approach them herself.. An apple, a trinket, etc. Assuming people ever actually notice her gifts as anything more than a weird occurence and seem genuinely happy about them, Qaena will begin to get a little bolder. Maybe a note left with the gift, which may eventually evolve into a conversation.
Once one gets to know her, Qaena is a truly selfless human being. Anything that belongs to her is up for grabs. She will do anything asked of her, even if it ends badly for her. Because once one gains her trust there is almost no way for them to lose it. There are of course drawbacks to this and times when she gets hurt but she's also insanely forgiving. She tends to let Khiraeth take over when it comes to being angry at those who hurt her - their bond is close enough that the bleedover frequently and it's nearly impossible for the green not to know. With those she especially likes this greenrider can be surprisingly bold, with a sort of dry sense of humour that pops up infrequently.
Perhaps the only thing she likes even relatively closely as her dragon and the few who sneak into her heart is nature. She is rarely ever found indoors since she would much rather be outside, listening to the birds and feeling the wind in her hair. Perhaps because of her...obsession with nature she is extremely knowledgeable about survival tricks and animal behaviour in general. If anyone could live on just the wilderness alone, it would be this girl.
History;
Birth and Early Turns (3000 - 3016)
Qaena was brought into the world as a result of an affair. Qaena's father was a fairly wealthy ship owner and business man in Lighttower Hold and though he had a quiet, obedient wife he always wanted something a little more. He found a passion in Qaena's mother, a runaway from the North who couldn't take the attitude from her family any longer. Their affair was brief for Qaena's mother could no longer stay in one place, let alone an environment like Lighttower Hold.
Even before Qaena was born, her mother had moved on, unknowingly pregnant. Nine months later, her mother showed up at Qaena's' fathers home with baby Qaena and left her with a name and a better home than she could ever provide. Despite being another woman's child, Qaena's adoptive mother treated her like her own and she was well loved by her own family consisting of her dad, mom, two brothers and a sister. This love, unfortunately, did not extend to outsiders. As she started to grow up she began to be teased and had pranks pulled on her frequently.
Qaena never complained. Instead, she ran off to her favourite spot in the Hold that her adoptive mother showed her. It was a lookout that showed the grassy fields and lush forests of her home. She even began to go there whenever her dad and adoptive mom would argue (only a little, because her dad always won) about the dragonriders and what was going on. A young Qaena cared little for the troubles of the world when there was such beauty to be found in nature.
Her life changed very little while she stayed at Lighttower Hold. As she got older she began to learn housework from her adoptive mother but that was it. Until the Hyphen Gather, of course. Her father, a little disturbed at how unpassionate Qaena was compared to her real mother, decided to take her with him to the Gather, despite not wanting to expose her to dragonriders. Little did he know that that would be a mistake that would cost him his affair's child.
Searched and Impressed (3016 - 3017)
Qaena wandered away from her father during the Gather to see the land nearby. It was quite by accident that Nephele bumped into the girl on her way back to her dragon and, hearing her dragon say Qaena was Impression material, invited the girl along. Qaena was quite fascinated with dragons, having never seen such a creature before. Without quite understanding what she was agreeing to, Qaena went along with the rider and ended up at Burimyu.
Qaena was something of a culture shock to Qaena. She was continually learning new things someone her age ought to have known. She discovered just how sheltered she had been and what sort of state the world had been in. Still ,the troubles that plagued the North paled to her because her new world of Burimyu was having its own troubles. Mystery creatures killed their goldrider and the sense of panic from that was enough to set Qaena thoroughly on edge. When the hatching came, she didn't know what to expect. Khiraeth certainly wasn't it.
She discovered a best friend, a soulmate of sorts in Khiraeth and started weyrling lessons at Burimyu. Still, anything new turns into same old-same old in time and she settled into her new life with her dragon fairly soon. What shook that up, quite literally, was the earthquake that destroyed Selenitas Weyr. With Burimyu as the only place to turn to, the weyrs reuinted and suddenly Qaena was surrounded by many unknown faces. She also Impressed a somewhat terrifying 'mandyr she named Gneiss. Between her mindmates, Qaena was meeting lots of new people. K'ian of bronze Romeoth was among them. Although at first terrified by his rank and...well, just him in general really, she grew comfortable enough with him and his bronze. That Khiraeth adored her Rommy, as she called him, and conspired with her friend to push the two together certainly helped.
Khiraeth's first flight greatly mortified Qaena then because it was Romeoth who the green had picked and suddenly everything felt far more awkward around her friend. Why? Because Qaena discovered that she remembers everything in full clarity after a flight. The flight also served to put T'ri on the girl's radar and she started talking to the quirky boy who had been in her weyrling class but so often absent. Life was decidedly more interesting at New Selenitas than it ever would have been Lighttower Hold.
Times A-changing (3018-present)
Not very suited to fighting, Qaena and Khiraeth let the great war play out as it would. Her personal life was decidedly more complicated at that point anyway. After repeated walks in the forest with T'ri they got together as a couple, Qaena wanting to try something with someone closer to her own age rather than the older men she seemed to crush on frequently. She was never quite completely comfortable with the bluerider though she tried. When she realized he was a lot more serious about their slightly over turn length romance than she was Qaena worked up the courage to break things off.
Despite it being her desire to do so, Qaena found herself missing having the sort of support that came with being in a relationship and in that time she unconsciously leaned on her friends' support quite a bit. With this came realization - the only one who ever made her feel completely safe (if not at ease due to the inevitable butterflies of attraction) was K'ian. It took another turn for Qaena to realize that her version of being in love was just that. Those flutters of unease while the summit had been meeting had been her nervousness at the thought of her and K'ian being separated. You can just imagine her relief when they were assigned the same Weyr. By the beginning of 3022 Qaena admitted that holding in her feelings forever wouldn't do her any good. Confessing, however, was no easy task but she was determined to do it...eventually.
Khiraeth

Green (#6BBD5E)
Physical Appearance;
Khiraeth is neither very small nor very large; as a green she settles in the middle of her expected range from nose-tip to tail-tip. Likewise, she is not incredibly slender or exceptionally bulky, either, though she tends towards the former as greens generally do. An altogether unremarkable creature, it is rare that Khiraeth stands out as a silhouette, for her frame is entirely generic without being perfect. That does not mean Khiraeth is not lovely in her own right, of course, for there is a certain feminine grace to the arch of her neck and uplift of her small, refined head, but generally they’re small things, overlooked easily in favor of the more dramatic dragons. Khiraeth will find herself struggling to fit in to any one group—she’s too small to be strong, too large to be agile.
Given time, the green will discover that her prowess lies purely in elegance; her flight is best described as a true aerial dance. Even from the beginning, Khiraeth will take to the skies with relative ease (a few mishaps are to be excused as they always are when a Weyrling is flying for the first time), and within a relatively short span of time Khiraeth will find that she’s much more comfortable in the air than out of it. Indeed, on the ground Khiraeth tends to be a little ungainly, awkward. Not that she’s downright clumsy in any sense of the word—she simply is not at her best on her feet and it shows; Khiraeth will not be able to move with any speed on the ground and she tends to waddle just so.
Khiraeth is a light, attractive shade of jade green; the color holds a kind of quiet elegance without being overstated. The green’s hide will possess a light shine to it when she is well-oiled, and it will be downright unmistakable when she Rises, for her entire being will positively glow with it. Ordinarily, however, Khiraeth does not stand out as being particularly special. Her legs fade into a darker jade green, while her muzzle fades out to white, and her wing-sails are edged in a shimmering kind of silver-green, but none of the markings are blatantly obvious at first glance. Indeed, if Khiraeth can be called beautiful, hers is an understated, quiet grace rather than a flashy loudness—if one has the eyes to see it.
Her eyes are capable, like all of Jingth’s offspring, of night-vision. In Khiraeth’s case, it is dim: Smoke and shadows—frightening. In fact, Khiraeth seems to prefer much to stay inside when it’s night, but she trusts Hers, and if they give her the go-ahead…then of course she’ll brave the night for them.
Personality;
Khiraeth is all about living fiercely; she is a creature thrilled by everyday victories and ever an upbeat optimist, without edging quite into the territory of hyperactive bubbliness. Rather, Khiraeth is just happy—she’ll be exceptionally fond of ‘dancing’ in the sky once she gains her wings, and she’s always painfully earnest. The green wears her heart on her sleeve, as the saying goes, and chances are she’ll fall more in love with life with every passing day; this is a creature to whom a butterfly is a delight, a single musical note a reason to dance. Spontaneous, Khiraeth will likely drag Hers and other friends into spur-of-the-moment plans, but fortunately for them, she’s mindful of their safety at least.
For a dragon so in tune with human nature—for Khiraeth will prove herself a loyal friend, a trusting companion, and a shrewd mood-reader—the green takes things very literally. She can think her way through most colloquialisms, but rarely does Khiraeth not call them out, often lightly amused: What a funny way to say that. Despite her basic understanding of them, though, Khiraeth will find herself unable to actually use colloquialisms with any degree of success, though she’ll try anyway—typically separating the phrase so distinctly from her bubbling speech that the quotes are practically audible.
She’s also extremely open about the concept of love and intimacy. Khiraeth will never find jealousy in watching other greens Rise, or even golds; rather, she’ll often linger on the ‘ledge as long as Hers will allow her to in order to watch—aren’t they beautiful, isn’t the dance lovely, don’t they look like they love each other? While the green will never offer any signs of wanting to ‘settle’ for a single male (indeed, she’ll be extraordinarily unpredictable in Flights), she’s in love with the idea of love, at least for Hers and the others that she adores. Plenty of love advice (often ridiculously accurate), blind dates, and careful planning of others’ love lives should be expected.

Brown F0E68C 603311
Physical Appearance;
Looking at this brown one would think they had run into the bodybuilder of the mandyr world. This little guy is extremely muscular. His entire body from large strong squareish jaw to tail tip is covered in thick muscle. To top off the picture he is on the rather large side of the brown spectrum and will easily be able to match some of the smaller and even average bronzes in sheer size. He has a rather short and thick tail for a mandyr and won’t be able to use it to grasp things as some of his brethren can. Instead he’ll be able to use the appendage like a club of sorts. The small wings that sit upon his back will be useless for flight and all but the shortest of glides. He is simply too heavy for the small appendages to hold his weight for any length of time. Behind his head he sports the same frilless tines the majority of his siblings do, his being rather thick and stumpy in comparison and rounded at the tips.
Instead of being a rich dark or warm brown this male is the color of khaki pants. A light almost sandy looking shade. Though the color isn’t anything beautiful it highlights his large muscles nicely and gives him a rather imposing look. Especially when you factor in the darker markings he boasts. Over his left eye he has a perfect large dark brown spot. The dark brown color also being present on his wing membranes and solidly coloring his entire underbelly. He isn’t shiny but he really doesn’t need to be. He commands attention by just being impressive.
Personality;
This brown is nothing if not arrogant. His ego could probably be comparable to some bronze dragons in fact. If not for the obviously brown shade to his hide one might be able to mistake him for metallic based on arrogant personality alone. He’s fond of striking poses to convey his strength and believes that his way is the only way and the best way and his had better acknowledge this or even they will face his wrath. He’s quite a bully to those who don’t bow down to his obvious superiority and is not afraid to use his massive bulk to his advantage to overpower and dominate whatever he can. Though almost comically he seems to have no concept of his true size and will even try to dominate humans, whers, and dragons as well as firelizards and other mandyrs. Sadly he’s nearly all brawn without much brains. If smaller mandyrs can't escape his grasp they should thankfully be able to outsmart him. When he is offended this guy tends to go into violent rages, bulldozing everything in sight until he is either subdued by his or satisfied that his target has learned their lesson.
His speech is quite lacking. Mostly because he prefers to use his muscles to do the talking. He’ll frequently mix up words, pronounce them wrong, or simply use the wrong one. All in all he won’t have a large vocabulary at all and the words he does use will often be used incorrectly. Though on occasion he’ll get one right and be quite pleased with himself. One should be careful when speaking to him in fact the smile and nod approach is probably best used with this brown because it tends to infuriate him when the person or thing he is speaking to cannot understand him. You really don’t want to send the little guy into another rage do you? Thankfully his will find that he’s easily calmed and controlled by ego stroking, making him slightly manageable at least.
He’s not very fond of other males of his species, though he will leave them be as long as they give him the respect he is due. If not he has no problems with teaching them respect by thoroughly dominating them, abusing them until they submit. He’s not tolerant of firelizards at all. In fact he’s fond of trying to completely dominate his winged cousins to try and turn them into slaves for his every whim. Even females of his species are not really spared. He is possessive to extremes of any female that shows him the smallest bit of attention and he’ll try to claim a large harem for himself. If any of his females stray he will abuse them to teach them a lesson before dragging them back into the ‘protection’ of his large and powerful shadow. Once he mates with them they are his for life and they better act as such.
