Ke'von

Previously Keavon
Age: 16
Born: July 3000
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Rank: Jr. Weryling
Physical Appearance:
Ke'von almost towers over everyone around him as he stands at six foot three. Broad in shoulder, his figure tapers down to a rather slim wast, built for endurance and strength. He will never be as agile as some of his lankier pears, but he is able to make up for his lacking by his seemingly never ending stamina that his compact muscles allow him.
His eyes are a warm brown, always calm comforting - a rather good reflection of his personality, and are set under rather thick, angled eyebrows. His gaze is frankly captivating when he wants it to be, and he uses it to manipulate others when he feels it necessary. Speaking of Ke'von's captivating features, his face is rather out of the ordinary. True, it had all the usual features- two eyes, a nose, and a mouth, but it's structure is interesting. Broadest at temples and jaw line, his chin, in contrast to his other wise rounded feature, is angular. His angular nose is average sized, but is given the appearance of being slightly over sized by his thin lips which are usually set in line that gives no insight to his emotions what so ever.
His skin is lightly tanned and devoid of scars except for his fingers which are covered in hard calluses from his years of working on the docks with his father, and a thin line on his left cheek that was obtained in a fishing accident. Recently, another scar or two were added on his torso from a run in with a blue dragonet when he stood as a candidate for a hatching.
A light speckling of freckles falls across his nose and cheeks in a way that gives him a handsome and innocent look that, for others, seems to put him in a position beyond suspicion for the varying pranks or mishaps that seem to follow him wherever he goes. His hair is a light brown color that is quite long, cut roughly so that it falls right above his collar and falls in front of his eyes so he is forever brushing it back from his face.
Personality: Every Coin has Two Sides
To most, Ke'von is a very calm and quiet person compared to two sisters, he is the kind of person you know you can always rely upon if you ever have a problem. He may not be wise, but he does have some good sense and has a good head upon his shoulders. Ke'von thinks before he acts more often than not, though there are occasions where he will throw himself headlong into something without giving it a second thought.
He is not hard to get along with but he does not exactly put himself out there. It would not be uncommon for him to sit alone in a corner just relaxing or be found sitting with others and say nothing anyway. Though he acts like an introvert, Ke'von, from time to time, craves the company of his pears, but he only gets involved if he thinks that he has a relevant point to put across to the conversation.
If someone takes the time to get to know him and earn his trust then they will soon find that they could not have a better friend than Ke'von. He is a good laugh once he feels easy around you and he does enjoy talking with his friends, though he only likes to keep a few. If you are lucky enough to befriend him, his shyness will fall away and the other side of his personality will shine through, and you can be sure that he will drag you into all sorts of mischief.
The other side of his personality is surprising if you take into account that he comes across as a shy boy. If he wants to be, Ke'von can be a manipulating and cunning little beast. He is, and this is putting it politely, an instigator. He possess the qualities of a great leader, however, he chooses them to cause trouble. If he is angered by something, hes not the type to fight it out. More likely, the person who offended him will wake up on the roof of his or her barracks, stripped down to their underwear. He is the mastermind behind many unsolved plots that tend to disrupt the lives of those around him, but you can be sure he will never be caught. Hes to cunning for that.
However, Ke'von will most likely never let anybody, not even those closest to him, into his innermost sanctum, his thoughts. Not easily pushed around, he will listen polity to others when they instruct him to do something. It is another thing entirely to get him to do whatever they had been asking. For Ke'von picks and chooses whom and what to listen too, and he to prideful to ever fully submit to authority. Not judgmental per say, Ke'von is open to the idea of befriending anyone, and if he does develop a dislike for somebody, it would be almost impossible to tell unless
History:
Pre-Weyr Life:
Keavon was born to a fisherman and his wife in Blossom hold, the youngest of three children. The earliest memory he has of his childhood is of his two elder sisters dressing him up in one of his mothers gather gowns and parading him around their small hold. Perhaps is was his sisters constant teasing and prodding, or the fact that the other boys he lived near made no attempts to include him in their games, led him to embrace solidarity.
Though never considered antisocial by his peers or family, Ke'von never activity sought out company. More often than not, he would wonder off by himself and find somewhere reclusive, where he would kick back and just stare at the horizon. When he was bothered during these times of relaxation, he would often repulse the intruder with a snarky or sarcastic comment that would leave the person on the receiving end smarting for some time. These comments led to the growth of his reputation of unfriendliness that he had begun to cultivate due to his rather introverted nature.
If Ke'von ever minded what other's said about him, his aloof nature that he adopted never let anyone suspect any unhappiness. Because Ke'von just didn't care. Anything that didn't directly affect him or his immediate family just held no importance to him. Nothing could provoke him, though his fierce temper would show when his sister's or parents were verbally abused.
His family, along with the others at the hold, tithed dutifully to Selentitas, and they lived a fairly peaceful life as a holder, with no unwelcome disruptions. News of the weyr did not often reach the ears of the fishers, and when it did, it rarely affected them, so there fore, Ke'von didn't bother to listen to the rumors that were associated with the weyr. His life revolved around his family and the family craft, fishing. Bolossom was to far away from the Weyr for any of the happenings there to have a direct impact on any of those who took residence in the hold.
Ke'von continued to grow up, and was taken under his fathers wing to learn the family craft. He would spend hours on end down at the docks, learning how to tie carious knots and from time to time, playing with the friendly shipfish who passed by the harbor. The water was friend and he felt perfectly at home in it. Nobody there would bother him, or try to understand him. He could be himself.
When he was eleven, Ke'von, who had already gained respect as a good sailor, took a small schooner out to see, following the fish ship, hoping to bring in a good hall. Unfortunately, he didn't recognize any of the warning signs and was caught out at sea during a particularity bad storm. He was thrown from his vessel when his ship overturned, and in the process, he got a deep gash in his cheek and broke his wrist. A shipfish helped him get back to his overturned vessel, where his father and a rescue vessel was able to saftly take him back to the dock. Thankfully, both injuries healed without complications.
Besides that one accident, Ke'von didn't experience any further problems at see. Once he was proved adept at all aspects of the craft, his father began planning for him to take over the fishing ships once he retired. at the time, Ke'von looked forward to the day where he would take over the family craft. But that all changed when his elder sister was betrothed to a farmer far inland, and it was kept a secret from Ke'von. Finding out in the most unfortunate way, he began to loathe even his parents, whom until then, he had held in the highest regard. Soon, he had no intention of staying in their small holding for the rest of his life.
Around this time, whispers reached Blossom of the escape of a Queenrider down to the south, and while this was interesting, it failed to raise a reaction from the quiet hold. However, as the years went on and Ke'von became more despereate to escape the confines of his hold, and more importantly, his parents, more whispers of going ons, such as the Wastlanders arrival and the poisoning of the river that lead to the death of many dragons, reached the holders ears, and a feeling of uneasiness began to settle in.
All the news of the the weyrs lead Ke'von to learn more about the weyr life, and fueled his desire to chase his dream, for until recently, he didn't know what he wanted to do with his life. But know he knew. He wanted to become a dragonrider.
October 3016 - Present[/u]
Ke'von was searched by blue rider M'kai and taken to the weyr, and began his candidate lessons. Keeping mostly to himself, he watched his classmates, most of which knew more about weyrlife than he did, learning what he needed to know in order to become eligible for hatching.
The day of the hatching, and the day of Jingth's death, Ke'von stood on the sands. After being mauled by a blue dragonet and left bleeding on the sands, he impressed to brown Ontehth, becoming once and for all, a dragonrider.
To Be Alive Brown
to be alive: not just the carcass,
but the spark
Name-Ontehth
Color- Brown (#773909)
Looks to- Ke'von
Appearance- Everything about Ontehth looks just this side of clumsy, a little too gangly and too large for him to coordinate. His paws are large, claws even larger and sickle-shaped, dangerous and gleaming pale gray-white, almost pearlescent, while his tail is not thick but instead is whip thin. His neck ridges grow thick and large at the crown of his skull, and fade into nothingness at the base of his neck and appear small and stunted down the length of his tail. Indeed, Ontehth isn’t quite beautiful – and furthering the brown from ‘lovely’ more is the almost constant half-smirk that pulls back the corners of his mouth in a decidedly deadly smile.
Ontehth’s wings are smaller than is typical for a dragon of his not unimpressive size, the wing membrane curving softly from slender sides to provide Ontehth quite a boost in agility – something that most browns will be unable to speak of. The dragon’s endurance will be sadly lacking, but Ontehth won’t mind unless his Rider does – agility is ever so much more important, is it not? You can do things. In the air, Ontehth will be quite smooth in flight – perhaps not graceful, but somewhere close. On the ground…? Best avoid it; Ontehth’s feet just don’t work like he wants them to…
A rich red-brown hue covers Ontehth’s body, melting into chocolate shades along his underbelly and neck. It’s entirely possible for Ontehth to be just as shiny as any bronze if His makes sure to keep up in his oiling and bathing. This penchant towards gleaming is made twice as noticeable by green-tinted specks that are almost bronze that dapple his hindquarters, wind up his spine and down his tail. A darker brown that’s almost black stripes his back from base of neck to tip of tail, while pale creamy brown swirls across his face like a mask.
The brown is, like his clutchsiblings, capable of seeing in the darkness – but his is only the slightest hint of exceptional vision. Ontehth will never feel comfortable enough to between at night, and, indeed, if His doesn’t request it, the brown’s even loathe to fly at night. But he can – it’s just that things are kind of blurry and off and he’d really rather not, thanks…
Personality- Ontehth is always right. Always, always, always, without question. The brown is highly intelligent and very much aware of that, and his ego expands accordingly. Ontehth usually is right, too, capable of coming up with highly complicated tactics and plans on the spur of the moment, ones that usually work spectacularly, usually one step in front of anyone if he wants to be. He has a very scientific mind and coming up with random inventions that sound fantastic and actually can be pulled off will be a favorite pastime; Ontehth loves surprising people with his genius.
Of course, Ontehth would be considerably more bearable if he weren’t downright smug about everything – but he is. Everything that he’s right about will be instantly one point to him (and what is done by others will be conveniently ignored or criticized loudly). The brown tends to think of himself higher than he might actually be considered by others – if he were human, he would be on first-name terms with everyone, ‘sirs’ ignored entirely, and he’s certainly not above needling his superiors, because he’s just not replaceable, is he?
However, Ontehth’s slightly obnoxious mannerisms and general nuisance can easily be taken as nothing more than good humor, for the brown dragon is quite open and friendly to all. As long as he can hear them over the sound of how awesome he is, anyway. Despite how comfortable Ontehth can get talking to a stranger, though, his own secrets are guarded with a fierce paranoia. Let nobody inquire as to the lock combination of his weyr, the number of herdbeasts he consumes per week…anything deeply personal. Why do you need to know, are you trying to poison him in his sleep!?
Immovable Object Male
Name- Pudge
Species- Razorclaw
Gender- Male
Bonded to- Ke'von
Physical Appearance- This razorclaw is simply huge. He's muscular, yes, but that muscle is covered with a hefty layer of fat envied by none. He will easily outstrip his smallish mother in sheer bulk, and will likely be the largest male razorclaw owned by a human. The bulk only looks bigger when you take into account his extra-long feathers, which he absolutely adores and will spend hours preening every day. He especially likes to arrange them so they poof out from his body a little and are displayed to his best advantage. His wingspan is also wider than normal (a good thing, too, or this tubby avian might never get off the ground).
His coloring doesn't help, either. Basically a uniform muddy grey-brown, this hefty guy's coloring is broken only by his mother's black eyeliner, which circles each eye in a thick band, fading quickly back into mud brown again, and the very, very dark brown edging to his wings he inherited from his father. Beak and legs are a uniform shade of dirty grey, with very faint bands of the same brown as his feathers, although his feet are tipped with claws that are a shiny, healthy ebony. As boring as his feathers might sound, though, this male does shine a little more when he bothers to fly - when he fans his tail out and stretches his wings, you can see that that the undersides are silver. Not matte silver-grey, but actually silver, glossy and shiny when he is well fed and well cared for.
Personality- This guy really doesn't like to fly. It's such a pain to get his bulk in the air that he would rather waddle if he has to go anywhere, or (preferably) be ferried where he needs to go by his human. He won't take rides from just anyone, though. Actually, it is a huge sign of trust and respect for this bird to perch on anyone but his bonded. Of course, he treats his bonded like a walking tree, so he rarely needs to get rides from others, anyway.
And boy, does he love his human. His bond will always be impressively strong, and it is rare to find the two apart (whether his human likes this arrangement or not). He would far rather be fed than hunt for himself, and will actively lay around and whine until his bonded figures this out. Human food is his absolute favorite, although he tends to look even fatter if that is all he is fed. Luckily, other than his obvious laziness, this bird is quite sweet, and downright loving when it comes to his human. He is always happy to be petted and cuddled, although other people should make sure and ask nicely before touching him. This is a one-person bird, and he can be quite suspicious of newcomers. Any and all pets and mindmates of his human will be treated with the same amount of suspicion forever. He is also quite smart, and loves to solve simple puzzles for treats (for example, place a treat under a cup, mix it in quickly with two other cups, see if he can pick the right one). In fact, as he practices different puzzles he will become so good that his human will probably enjoy showing off his tricks.
Mating flights mean both flying and leaving his human's shoulder, of course, so this male may take longer to reach sexual maturity than his clutch mates. Eventually, however, he will get his lazy butt in the air... and then you won't be able to keep him away. While he will never be a fast or agile flier, and even his stamina will suffer when he is looking fatter than usual, he brings the best food gifts. He goes out of his way to discover what the females who will be flying like best, and will happily shower them in their favorite gift. That is the only time he will ever hunt on his own (although he would rather His provide whatever gifts he needs).
