Name: Aithyn
Age: 4
Turnday: April 14, 3019
Gender: Male
Mother: Ivy, rider of Lighth
Father: Cainith, handler of Cainsk
Appearance:
Blonde hair and green eyes - an odd combination, even odder when one sees the toddler with his parents. If one were to see Aithyn with his grandparents, though, his appearance would make much more sense. As a baby, he was quite a chunky little monkey. Full cheeks, full lips, and roly-poly arms and legs. Little sausage fingers and toes. Oh yes, he was a plump little fellow.
The toddler years have changed this quite a bit - legs and arms sprouted out to grow longer, and thus he lost the roly-poly rolls he once had. Even his fingers and toes grew longer, and while they still have a bit of the baby fat clinging to them, they aren't overly chunky. His face still holds the youthful roundness, though not overtly so. As he grows, he is likely to thin out more all over, though he'll never truly be thin; after all, his father is a giant and his mother has some curves and plushness to her figure. It just isn't in his genes to be a stick figure.
Where his mother has straight hair and his father has curly hair - Aithyn finds himself stuck somewhere in the middle. When brushed out enough his hair is mostly straight. When left to its own devices there are cute little curls. As he grows older it is likely the curls will settle down into a manageable wave. His skin, as well, took the middle road, and is neither as pale as his mother's, nor as ruddy as his father's. He did win out in terms of complexion, however, and even during his teenaged years he will never have much trouble with bad skin. Despite his father's hirusite nature, Aithyn himself will take more after his mother's side in regards to facial hair, generally staying baby-faced beyond perhaps a well-groomed moustache occassionally.
Personality:
Typical of a young boy - he likes bugs, mud, and dragons. He has a soft spot for whers as well since his father is a handler. A bit of a trouble maker, he has a fanciful imagination - he's constantly making up stories, no matter how many times his father and mother try to curb his tendencies. He is a happy boy that giggles a lot, though there are signs he will inherit his father's loud, booming laugh. He enjoys being around people, and also enjoys spending time with draconics; since he grew up with so many in his life, he considers trying to talk to them as normal as talking to humans, though not many respond back.
When meeting strangers (which there aren't too many of in his life, but it isn't as if he knows EVERYONE) he is quiet and shy, at first. Once a few moments have passed, however, he is talking a mile a minute. He inherited his mother and father's friendly natures, though sometimes his father's aggressive streak will come out... though in Aithyn it's usually more in the form of challenges than physical confrontation.
He does have trouble with a few words - yellow comes out lellow, and so on and so forth. He'll eventually grow out of it, for the most part, though he might retain a slight lisp concerning certain sounds if he doesn't pay attention and starts speaking too fast. His easy smile and good looks will often make others overlook even that small flaw, however.
3020-3023: The early years...
Aithyn, son of Ivy and Cainith, was born in Selenitas Weyr in the early months of 3019. Life for the small family was nothing close to 'normal' from the get-go. Cainith was a Wherhandler and thusly nocturnal. Ivy resumed her role as a Candidate a few months after giving birth - and Impressed a Blue. Leaving the 'home' they shared in Cainith's apartment, Ivy went to the Weyrling Barracks with Lighth and did her best to make time for Aithyn and her weyrmate.
Often the couple left Aithyn in the creche while they attented to their duties, it wasn't a typical life but it was all he knew and he adjusted well at an early age to the odd hours kept by both parents. Adjusting well would come in handy for the young weyrbred child as a huge change was coming - not only to his family but Pern as a whole.
As the war ended in the beginning of 3020, just before Aithyn's first turnday, a Summit was called. Things such as wars and Summits were of no concern to the young boy, after all what did he know of fighting and politics? However a decision at the Summit DID concern him and his family - Crafters were no longer allowed to live inside the Weyrs. Cainith was a Crafter as well as being a Wherhandler, as such he would be sent away to a Hold. Blossom Hold was his assignment, but as Ivy was still in Weyrling training she was unable to go with them. So Cainith and Aithyn went ahead - Ivy joining them early the next turn when she finished her training.
The turns past rather quickly without much to-do about them. In the Hold there were fun things to do, a different type of lifestyle than that of the Weyr. Adaptable little Aithyn did not mind the changes nearly as much as his mother seemed to. He made friends with some of the other hold children.
