Humans:
Name: Ceryl
Age: 20 (Born January 2996)
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Rank: Greenhandler
Physical Appearance: Ceryl has grown to a an impressive 5'8" for a woman. She has also filled out to a surprising degree. There's something to the noticeable but not especially so hour glass curves she possess that gives her a delicate sort of beauty. The type you might think would shatter into a million pieces if you touch her too roughly. She has warm, deep set brown eyes and brown hair that hangs in curls down to the middle of her back, that darkened as she got older. While she prefers to leave her hair loose she does occasionally put it up into a high ponytail to keep it out of her face while she works.
As one might imagine, Ceryl is not particularly strong nor quick. She is, however, quite graceful and walks with an unusual amount of self-confidence. Her physical demeanor speaks more of a Lady Holder than it does a Wherhandler. Her clothing is also rather elegant and always well made. An extremely fashionable young woman she is. Her wardrobe is mostly made up of earthy tones - browns and greens - though she does mix it up with the odd red and blue. It's also largely dresses and other feminine clothes that she wears very well.
Personality: Ceryl has changed a great deal in some ways and yet not at all in others. She is still a fairly quiet woman and still surprisingly naive. She doesn't believe any would harm her ever and she believes even people who do ill have some sort of proper motive. After turns spent relatively alone - without anyone but Cerysk as a friend - she has grown very independant and also very resourceful. It wasn't so evident when she was younger but she is actually quite intelligent. However, that intelligence does nothing for her ability to read people and gauge emotions. She will never be very good at that.
Some may think that Ceryl is cold or shy but if they ever make her angry they will quickly change their opinion. While she's not as easy to anger as she was when younger, she still has a fearsome temper. Her habit of slapping people when extremely angry hasn't changed at all. Anger may be her easiest emotion to read but to those who take the time to get to know her, she will become easier and easier to read over time. Speech patterns, the way she smiles, the way she speaks..all hold subtle clues to her mood and it is possible for those who care to pay attention to learn what means what.
Ceryl also has never lost interest in sewing. Indeed, she's gotten much better at it. Most of her wardrobe has additions, removals, or simple edits done to them by her. She also never throws clothes out unless the fabric is too damaged. She's quite capable of making something new out of the old and takes joy in having unique things to wear. Why? Because Ceryl is extremely careful with her appearance. She takes excelelnt care of her skin and hair and really does consider sleep as "beauty sleep." Her physical demeanor was a result of watching the ladies lucky enough to have been born to or married into money. She realyl does have pride in her appearance now.
History:
Birth and Early Turns (2996-3009)
Ceryl was born in Hyphen Hold to Rylana and Cermon, a pair of drudges. She was frequently left with the hold nany despite being incredibly well loved by her parents. Even at a young age, Ceryl was rather mature. Where some children liked to pretend to be things they weren't, the girl was fascinated with sewing, of all things. This odd interest and maturity distanced her from all the kids she knew and she withdrew into something of a bubble. Her parents brought her to a Gather at Blossom Hold to try and encourage her to be more social and she ended up catching the attention of a Selenitas dragon while there. Despite fears of the dragon war, her parents urged her to go to the weyr if she wanted to.
Selenitas Weyr (3009-3011)
After a brief stint as a candidate, Ceryl Impressed a petite green wher named Cerysk. While she did not get particularly close to anyone (despite Cerysk's strong bond with Pidesk) she did become slightly more sociable. She also Impressed Heir, a bronze firelizard. Life was not exactly simple compared to before Impressed but it was comfortable and she enjoyed her time at Selenitas Weyr. The troubles going on within the weyr had little effect on her; she lived in the night for Cerysk. She did, however, encounter a bit of trouble when Piden left the weyr with Pidesk. Her green was so distraught and affected her so greatly that Ceryl decided to leave in search of him.
Hold Hopping (3011-3016)
Her search was not exactly fast by any loose definition of the word. Ceryl and Cerysk were not really built for the travelling lifestyle and frequently stayed in Holds for several months in order to acquire marks and the like. She heard rumours during her travels, of course, about Benden and Fort's attacks but it was in a northern Hold that she heard the disturbing news that Selenitas had been completely taken over by some rogue group. She made her way directly back out of some lingering loyalty for the weyr and ironically met Piden and his wher at the place she'd left from in order to search for him.
Return to Selenitas (3016-present)
Again, not much of the day's affairs affected Ceryl much. In fact, she didn't even bother to attend the Gather at her home hold because she saw no real point to. The only thing that bothered her a little was the entirely different atmosphere in the wherhandler apartments. Gone were all but one of her classmates. Gone was Neisk and her handler. The wherhandlers were governed by the new goldhandler. The man was older than her, certainly, but she had been a handler longer than he had. She didn't complain about it openly though. She simply learned to adapt to the very different environment from what she'd expected.
Wher:
Name: Cerysk
Color:Green (66CC99)
Age: 7 (Hatched March 3009)
Physical Appearance: Of all the whers in Neisk's Clutch, Cerysk is perhaps the smallest wher the Queen will ever birth. This green is positively tiny, looking perpetually like a nearly-adult wherling. Her body is narrow and long, though with her short legs, it betrays her somewhat. Even her muzzle is narrow and point and in keeping with the longer side of her anatomy. Her tail is likewise long and somewhat whippy, as well as almost always in motion. While her legs are short, they are in no way stocky, and perhaps this is the leading reason for her being so clumsy. Cerysk also appears to be the only wher to suffer from a disfigurement in Neisk's Clutch, with unbelievably tiny wings that will, without a doubt, hardly even be capable of gliding, much less flying.
Cerysk's coloring offsets her appearance beautiful. The vast majority of her hide is a jade green with a hint of turquoise, making her look like a precious stone in the light of Pern's moons. This fades to a slightly bluer green along her belly and the bottom of her neck, though lightens to a paler green along her spine. This blue-green also circles her muzzle in a thin series of freckles, and also shows itself in similar freckles over the membrane of her small, fragile wings.
Personality: Perhaps one of the most loving and affectionate whers in recorded history, Cerysk likes nearly everyone. She is not prejudiced, like some other whers, and seems to like humans, dragons, and firelizards equally. If anything, in fact, Cerysk likes flitts more than anything else and seems to be perpetually fascinated by them, especially when they are flying. She is also playful, though undeniably cautious, not wanting to hurt her small playmates.
Cerysk is willing to meet nearly anyone and, for either good or bad, has a very short memory when it comes to the wrongdoings of others. She isn't prone to remember if someone else attempts to hurt her or others, the only exception to this being when her bonded is injured by any sort of confrontation. Not exactly the brightest, this little green is nonetheless eager and kind no matter the situation and makes a show of being friendly to just about everyone.
Firelizard:
Name: Heir
Color: Bronze
Age: 7
Physical Appearance: Upon hatching, this bronze makes it clear he intends to break the pattern of long and lean for this clutch. He is rather large, with muscle rippling beneath his hide. There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that he will be the classic strong bronze. While he certainly does not lack the muscle, he is also equipped with the length to pull all of it off. So instead of being big and bulky, his length is nicely filled out. This hatchling’s wings are very large, which gives him a very slight advantage… not that he doesn’t need all the lift he can get. His hide is rather unique, the dark, brownish-copper shade of aged, antique bronze decorated with lighter dapples across his flanks and shoulders.
Personality: While this little guy definitely has the ego to go with his coloring, there are also other traits to his personality. Perhaps the most notable of these is his devotion. This bronze is possibly one of the most naturally disciplined flitters around; whatever he puts his mind to, he will do it. Any task he might be given, he completes with dogged determination. His intelligence is also plain to be seen. This coupled with his dedication to all he does will likely make this bronze easy to train, as long as his bonded can keep his attention.
