In hindsight Qaena could only say she'd expected something more dramatic to start it all off. She should have known that Khiraeth wasn't the dramatic type. She was the energetic, life-loving, cheerful type. Still, the greenweyrling had heard stories about proddy greens and seen quite a few in her time at the weyr. Some grew moody or snappish or flirtatious. Khiraeth only grew even more excited and happy as her hide took on what could only be termed a glow. Khiraeth had not been unaware of the extra attention she garnered in the week leading up to her flight but she had treated everyone just the same as she always had.
Khiraeth had not been asleep when she chose to Rise. Really, how could she be asleep when she was just so excited? The green pleasantly commented to the weyr at large, Why I do believe it's about time I rose, don't you all? You've been oh so patient! The green stretched her limbs quickly but carefully. Wouldn't do to be unprepared for this day! Once she was quite ready she crooned to whoever might have chosen to gather already. Weren't they all so nice? She would feel so bad that she could only have one in the end. Just for showing up she adored them.
She leapt up off her ledge, wings giving an impressive sweeping beat before letting herself fall down, down, down towards the weyrbowl. She did so enjoy playing around! Still, there wasn't nearly as much room as the green would like. One, two, three, and it's the blue sky for me, Khiraeth sing-songed on the spot. She didn't necessarily take her time locating a tunnel but she didn't rush either. She wanted everyone to enjoy the day! When the green emerged into the crisp October air outside the weyr she bugled in sheer delight. Oh look, look! It is a wonderous, fantabulous day! Blue skies and bright sun. Yes, she'd chosen the day well.
Qaena rather thought otherwise. No day would ever be good for this. She'd had a taste of a salamandyr run and she had absolutely hated it. She distinctly remembered curling up with Khiraeth and Romeoth at the end of it to be sure she was safe from the other 'mandyr owners. She'd had that escape available. There would be no escape from Khiraeth being caught and she had not found someone to...to...oh the thought was just terrible! She shivered in part due to her own thoughts and in part because of the lust beginning to leak through the bond. She watched her green rise and call and stretch before suddenly dashing out her door. She at least knew better than to stay in her own weyr. As the door slowly drifted closed Gneiss gave a dismissive snort. Silliness.
The weyrling was near breathless by the time she reached a flightroom and she tentatively peeked inside of it before opening the doot all the way. It was really just like any other weyr but...it felt so foreign to her. She stepped inside with a shaky breath and drifted away from the open door. Khiraeth's influence was rapidly increasing and Qaena did a little spin before settling on the very edge of the bed. She was ready to leap up at any second to greet her friends. As Khiraeth burst into the clear skies outside the weyr, the greenweyrling became truly lost to her dragon.

Was Arhenaiyth waiting eagerly for Khiraeth to rise? No. No one would ever describe the blue as 'eager', but on the spectrum of the turquoise dragon's emotions he was practically bouncing in place. Which meant in practice that Arhenaiyth was sprawled on his ledge, half asleep, keeping up a lazy monologue in T'ri's mind about the dubious charms of Greens with the occasional grumpy What is taking her so long? It's not like I don't have better things to do. If she wasn't my sister...[/i] thrown in for good measure. T'ri, busy with some complicated mechanical device even he didn't understand, took every opportunity to snidely ask "Who is it you're waiting for again."
After this pattern had been repeated a good fifty times, Arhenaiyth was long out of whatever patience he had, which was endlessly entertaining for T'ri (even if the annoyance was leaking over here and there). What is she waiting for? I see other males watching, of course I'm not, I'm just curious about what's going on. T'ri chucked his improvised wrench at his project with quite a bit more force than necessary, breaking off one of the carefully attached wheels, but followed that up with a gleeful "Who..." Khiraeth! the Blue snapped, finally getting to his feet. I am surrounded by idiots. Forgive me for leaving you to poke at metal bits on your own, would you? I'm going for a bath.[/i]
T'ri chuckled and shook his head as Arhenaiyth took to the air, but only moments later his hand tightened on the wheel he'd retrieved, and the Weyrling blinked. Ah. Ah indeed, the blue replied, not bothering to limit his speech only to his rider. If Khiraeth and the other males felt the need to listen in on his grumbling, they were more than welcome. The object of my dubious affections has finally snailed her way into the air. Might I recommend the flightrooms? It would be a shame to die because my rider was foolish enough to run off a ledge during a flight or some such.[/i]
Pausing only long enough to flip a fashionable hat onto his head, T'ri strode out into the corridor, taking his time to reach the flightrooms. For other riders, that might mean that they were successfully resisting their dragon's influence... not so for T'ri. He was long lost; Arhenaiyth was simply in no hurry. As the Blueweyrling reached the flightrooms, though (brushing a bit of lint off of his skinny emerald pants as he crossed the threshold), Arhenaiyth surged forward, clearing the tunnel and executing an awkward, unplanned rush at Khiraeth, drawling, Come on then, let's get on with it.[/i]

Romeoth had been waiting for Khiraeth to rise. His affection for the young green hadn’t been missed by his rider. K’ian was well aware of how much his dragon liked the green dragon. If the bronze retreating to Qaena’s weyr during Mouse’s run was any indication. Not that he needed that when Rom told him after their interaction with the pair that he liked Khir quite a bit. So, when Romeoth hovered on his ledge, eyes locked firmly on the direction that Qaena’s weyr was in, K’ian knew what the dragon was waiting for.
“ Already?” Rom had already guessed that his rider knew what he was waiting for. It’s long past time for Khiraeth to rise. K’ian sighed lightly. Usually his preference in partner influenced the bronze’s greenflight chases to a certain degree, but his affection for Khiraeth outweighed even K’ian’s comfort this time. At least Qaena was a girl. Thank Faranth for little miracles. Not that the man disliked the girl. In fact, he liked her quite a bit, but not really in…that way. Not that it mattered. “ There’s nothing I can say that will put you off chasing Khir, is there?” None whatsoever. You should be happy though… He flashed his rider a look. Khiraeth’s is a girl. You like girls. K’ian grumbled as Romeoth resumed his vigil. He wanted to make the argument that he saw Qaena as a sister, but he was sure that the dragon wouldn’t understand the reference.
Finally, the bronze stiffened, eyes on the glowing form of the green, who head just leaped for her ledge. K’ian felt the first stirrings of flightlust and glanced over, though he hardly needed to see the glowing trail the dragon was leaving to realize that she was flying. Please at least consider going to the flightrooms. I would hate for you to upset Khiraeth’s with your absence as that would upset the lovely green. Romeoth said without even looking at K’ian. The large bronze rumbled and stretched his body before jumping from his ledge, freefalling towards the weyrbowl; snapping his wings out and taking to the air. Pulling up, he bugled happily towards Khiraeth, Fly well, lovely Khiraeth! He saw the green disappear into a tunnel, followed by a blue. Red flashed briefly in his eyes, but it was soon overtaken by serene lusty violets.
This would get interesting.
Sweeping his broad wings out, Romeoth raced after them, bursting into the air behind the blue dragon. He saw the awkward dash the dragon made towards Khiraeth and he wondered why he was ever even slightly jealous. Silly blue. The bronze rumbled in amusement, banking to the right and then attempting to cut right in front of Arhenaiyth. If he managed to get in front of the blue, hopefully that would stop the dragon’s mad rush at the green. Even if it didn’t, Romeoth would speak in a cheerful, amused voice. Silly baby. A little reckless, aren’t we? I thought that this level of arrogance was reserved for my color? It was funny because Romeoth didn’t have nearly the level of arrogance that his competitor had. Laughing heartily, the bronze would flick his tail at the blue playfully before turning his attention towards the green, who was the real star today. Wonderful day for a flight, isn’t it Khiraeth? Lead the way, my dear.
As soon as Romeoth left, K’ian sighed deeply, making sure he looked halfway decent before making sure Mouse was soundly asleep on her couch. Turning, he left his weyr, making his way to the flightrooms. Slipping inside, K’ian made notice of T’ri and raised an eyebrow. Would he only have to be worried about weyrlings today? Shrugging lightly, the man smilied broadly at Qaena. “ Hey there.” He knew he could have stayed in his weyr, but he liked Qaena (more than just Romeoth's affection for Khiraeth rubbing off on him), and even if he did see her in a different way, he knew she was a virgin. There’s no way he was going to let her practically get raped by flightlusted teenagers. His own flightlust tugged at him, but he was able to keep his head for a bit longer.

Kaaoloth was sprawled lazily on his ledge his tail tip flicking idly as he watched the weyrbowl around him. He had been taking note of his weyrlings as usual. Only this time more specifically the greens. Whether his liked it or not the brown almost always chased his students. At least on their maiden ventures. More out of a desire to support them then anything else really. The brown had his own preferences and they all lay with the violent ones. The more sedate happy greens just did not get him going. They had to be downright nasty. Or at least challenging. But in only certain ways. To say that the brown was picky would not be wrong. As of late dear Khiraeth had taken on a glow. She would be the first then. Even now he was watching her, his eyes whirling in placid green. As the young green rose and made her statement Kaaoloth crooned and rose to his feet.
A blue and a bronze already. Well then he’d just make up the last of the color trifecta. And then she’d have all of them wouldn’t she? A good mix. The large brown flared his wings. Snaking his head back he brushed slightly against his bonded’s mind. I am chasing Khiraeth now. You will be okay I promise. With that Kaaoloth leapt from the ledge and winged up towards the other males and the glowing green. Briefly he brushed her mind with his presence and little else as his eyes took on a soft violet color. Winging up through the tunnel behind the other males he broke out into the clear blue sky with a loud enthusiastic trumpet. It was a good day for a flight. Neither Romeoth or Arhenaiyth were given more notice then quick glances to note positioning. He would keep them in mind of course. But while they had their little interactions his attention was predominantly on the green and he banked left to coil once beneath her with a happy croon.
~~~~
Sel’n had long since given up on trying to keep Kaaoloth from chasing his students. He rarely caught them anyway. It still was an annoying habit of course, but not enough of one that he felt he needed to have major fits at his dragon. Instead The Weyrlingmaster just made his customary mental grumbles before tipping back the last of his wine and leaving his weyr to start for the flight rooms.
Hopefully Qaena had taken their flight talk to heart and prepared herself adequately for this. With her temperament Sel'n doubted it. But maybe he’d be pleasantly surprised. If not then he’d be there if she needed him. At least he had the ability to keep his head until Kaaoloth caught if he so chose. He worked with that now, keeping the brown almost completely disconnected from him as he made his way down the hall. As he slipped into the flight rooms he nodded to K'ian and gave T'ri a 'I'm watching you' look before smiling and giving a light nod to Qaena herself.
Ophiuchusth had been waiting. Khiraeth was one of his favorite sisters. Well, actually Ophiuchusth liked all his sisters, but that was fair wasn't it? He watched hopefully, his body itching to play as Alph lingering moodily on his head. No chase, the brown advised solemnly. Why? Ophiuchusth returned uncertainly. The salamandyrs influence sometimes won through given how much time they spent together. Icky. Scary. Wrong. Alph declared firmly. Ophiuchusth frowned at that. Khiraeth was so pretty. Surely it wouldn't be wrong to play with her?
As the lovely green finally rose, Ophiuchusth's mind was made up. Arhenaiyth and Kaaoloth were going, so clearly he could go too! As a grumpy Alph jumped clear. Ophiuchusth spread his large wings and soared gracefully down the side of the bowl. At least it would have been graceful, if he had nearly crashed into another ledge and scrapped his tail getting around it. Goodness it was hard to see with all this sun. Khiraeth was worth it though, he was certain. She would understand. What for me, Khi! I want to play too!
N'rik, on the other hand, was not ready. He hadn't really understood what his dragon had been doing all week watching Khiraeth. He was far more used to Alph, keeping himself scarce whenever other salamandyrs chose to run. So when Ophiuchusth suddenly took off, the wave of emotion was new and overwhelming. "What the...Ophi?" N'rik stood up, looking around the room quickly. Well that was strange. He suddenly really really wanted to see Qaena. Where was she? He darted down the hall until he met up in the flightroom with the others. There she was! N'rik grinned happily. They were going to play now right?
Khiraeth was not one to take stock of how many arrived to chase her or how timely they arrived. No, she was just happy to have them all there. She twisted around gracefully to watch her friends come out of the tunnel after her. This led her to seeing Arhenaiyth rush at her and she reacted in surprise. With a bit of an awkward twist the green shot straight up briefly before stalling and twisting again so she was a bit above and flying in the opposite direction as before. That wasn't very nice, Arry, the green said, a note of chastisment in her tone before adding, It would be a downright awful shame to not enjoy this beautiful day!
She had noticed Romeoth's assistance with her rather impatient brother, of course, and crooned at him. Yes, very lovely, Rommy! Nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks so, she commented in amusement, making an easy turn to fly by her friends again. She brushed close by Arhenaiyth with an affectionate brush of her mind before coiling around Romeoth's air space. She danced above his tail, then under his belly, then up over his head again, ever mindful not to disrupt his own flying. I do hope we can all have fun today!
She winged her way over to Kaaoloth then. There was no way she could forget her teacher! Are you absolutely fantabulous today, Kaao? Khiraeth brushed by him closer than she had with Arhenaiyth, adding in a playful lick by his neck. She hadn't gotten much of a chance to actually play with her teacher before then and it really was quite a shame because he was so very nice. She was determined to make up for it that day! Khiraeth drifted away from her teacher to approach her other blue brother.
Oh, Phi! The green was very grateful he had braved the sun for her. She had the night vision that all of Jingth's babies did but hers created a rather scary nighttime effect. She'd always wondered if bright sun was as scary for Ophiuchusth as the night was for her. She didn't quite invade his space like she had with the others though she wrapped as much of her mind around his affectionately as she could. I am always happy to wait for you, Phi dear, so let's go! She included the last three words in a broadcast to all the males before angling upwards and away from the sun, making the occasional graceful flip or upwards coil.
Qaena was equally delighted and disappointed in T'ri's appearance. The first, arrival, was naturally very exciting but he didn't seem terribly enthusiastic. She gave him a bright smile and a cheerful wave all the same. "Hello, hello Arry!" She greeted before her attention turned towards the next one to arrive. A little squeal errupted from her and she rose from the bed and dashed over to K'ian in a flurry. "Rommy!" She exclaimed as she threw her arms around him in a fierce hug. Where Khiraeth was unbiased in her affections, Qaena clearly was not. Not that she disliked T'ri but she had never really talked to him either.
Then Kaao arrived and the greenweyrling's smile brightened even more, if possible. She released K'ian and moved over to Sel'n. She took both Sel'n's hand in hers and shook them lightly. "Kaao! You came! Thank you. We'll have lots of fun, yeah?" She quite liked her weyrlingmaster though there was an understandable barrier between them at the same time. Qaena let go of Sel'n's hands when she noticed N'rik had joined them. She swarmed up to him, toe-to-toe and very nearly chest-to-chest, as if making up for Khiraeth's physical distance. "Phiii," was all she said as she leaned to one side and gave him a peck on the cheek. Then she was bouncing back to open territory. Time for the fun to begin!
Arhenaiyth,[/i] the lighter blue snapped at Khiraeth out of long habit, although the snap had distinctly soft edges (Arry was a new one, after all, and he didn't mind it nearly so much as Henny). He just didn't see why people felt the need to shorten his name when it was fine just how it was. Twisting, he tracked the green's tail as closely as he could, loath to let any other suitor closer. Of course, he didn't really have control over that, and before he knew it there was a big bronze lump in his airspace, cutting him off.
So here's the thing. Arhenaiyth didn't attend lessons with any sort of regularity, but after Eveyth's flight T'ri had been forcing the blue into the air at least once every day in an attempt to make sure the blue was agile enough to keep from getting shredded. He was also a Weyrling, not quite full grown, with the added bonus of being far more suited to the turbulent air around the mountain than the bronze. For a blue, he might be below average, but compared to a Bronze in this terrain... well, suffice to say Arhenaiyth wasn't about to put up with Romeoth's shit.
If I'm a baby, what do you think Khiraeth is, pedophile? Go fly into a cliff, and don't touch my sister,[/i] he hissed, slashing at whatever bit of Romeoth he could reach. He wasn't really close enough to actually have the hit land, but the intent - the threat - was certainly there. Tucking his wings afterwards, the blue ducked under Romeoth at the last moment, hopefully tangling the bronze up in his oversized wings when he tried to replicate the maneuver. The dismissive tail flick was ignored (a good thing, too, because Arhenaiyth was of a mind to take a chunk out of that tail), and the blue flitted upwards as Khiraeth turned to the sky, cutting off Kaaoloth and Romeoth at every opportunity and clearly crowding the Green. Ophiuchusth, on the other hand, was offered a terse mental nudge in greeting (the Arhenaiyth equivalent of a man-hug) and allowed to do whatever he wanted without obstruction. He was a brother. He was allowed.
While Arhenaiyth, above, was acting as if he was in a fight, not a flight (despite his eyes, vivid purple under their constant film) T'ri seemed to be in charge of the required seduction. While his blue in the air was busy correcting the nickname, T'ri smiled a lazy smile, commenting, "Arry? I'm usually Henny, but I think I might like Arry better." She was gone by then, though, dashing over to the bronze. This made Arry glower, pulling the brim of his hat lower to hide his displeasure. Arhenaiyth might think he had the jump on Romeoth in the air, but Romeoth on the ground was distinctly more intimidating.
Kaaoloth, too, got far more familiar treatment, which just made Arry simmer more. Again, Ophiuchusth was allowed to do what he pleased, but as soon as Khiraeth bounced back out into open territory Arry put on another smile and slid over to her, lifting his hands form his sides in a little gesture of question. "What, I get a wave and he gets a kiss? Come now, Khiraeth, that's hardly fair. Will you dance with me, at least?" Lifting one hand to her, he tucked the other behind his back, every line of his body somehow oozing both satire of silly Holder customs and desire for her hand. How he managed that is anyone's guess, but there you go.
When Khiraeth darted away from her brother, Romeoth realized that she didn’t need his help after all. He beamed at the green, even as Arhenaiyth hissed at him. Flaring his wings in the air, he watched the baby blue with a decidedly amused look in his eyes. Dragons don't consider age the same way that humans would in most situations, Silly, like I said. I do think that flying into a cliff would be more likely with your flying, though. He said, as the blue dove beneath him. He had noticed the awkwardness of the blue’s rush at the green, then. It probably wasn’t something he would hold against the weyrling any other time. In fact, it probably wasn’t something he’d ever mention again, but this was a flight, and all is fair in love and war. Romeoth was also having a great deal of fun at the moment. Why shouldn’t he good naturedly tease the younglings? Especially his competition.
Even as Arhenaiyth flew beneath him, Romeoth was already starting a slower turn in the air. He wasn’t big enough for any of the crazy acrobatic stunts that the other colors could do, but the large dragon was impressive in his own right. When Khiraeth began her dance around him, the larger dragon merely flew forward, ignoring the crazy blue weyrling for the most part. He was flying slowly enough to allow Khir to do her dance that the blue’s cutting off tactics didn’t influence him much. Crooning lovingly towards Khir, he would brush her belly lightly with his tail when she was above him and her back when she was beneath him. Whatever he had to do to maintain physical contact. When she went off to the other males, Rom winged his way higher, brushing Khir’s mind with affection when her flight finally began for real.
Romeoth would follow the green from above and slightly behind, watching her flips with appreciative glances. She should realize by now that he wasn’t as agile in the air as she was in the air, and someone, he knew she wouldn’t hold that against him. He flew far enough away from her to give her room to play, but not so far that he could be too easily usurped. She knew he was there. He didn’t need to be right on her tail to catch her attention.
K’ian was letting himself go to Romeoth, but not too much. His body trembled with the effort of losing just enough of himself to make this comfortable but retaining enough to remember that this was her first time and to not take advantage of the girl. It seemed though, that she wouldn’t need to be coddled. Qaena/Khiraeth was much more outgoing than just Qaena. A massive grin alit the bronze’s face as the girl flung herself at him. Lifting her off the ground, he hugged her tightly, whispering playfully in her ear. “ You don’t think I’d miss this, do you?” He then offered her a final gentle squeeze before she let go of him to go pay attention to her other suitors. He would release her simultaneously. No need to make her feel crowded.
Eyeing the others, Sel’n was offered a respectful nod and N’rik was offered a slight tilt of his brows. How old was that kid? Surely not older than fourteen or fifteen. Ah well. Not too much younger than Qaena herself than. Turning back to the girl, he saw T’ri’s approach towards Khiraeth and grinned at her broadly from where he stood. The desire to cut off Arhenaiyth (and K’ian was losing himself more) burned within him, but he didn’t act on it. Somehow, beating up a kid didn’t seem to be a good way to win this flight. The larger dragon just offered the smaller a smirk. He would just have to seem approachable and more desirable than the blue.
And Romeoth had never had trouble with that.
" Silly baby..." He said towards Arhenaiyth, half under his breath with an amused chuckle. The bronze gave Khiraeth an inviting wink. " Let's play, Khir."
Staying true to his circle Kaaoloth stilled his wings to glide much like a hawk. He tilted his head to look up at Khiraeth and crooned softly to her. I am quite well my dear. He assured her. Much better with such bright skies and pleasantly company. As he spoke he shot Arhenaiyth a look but nothing more then that. All pleasant save that one really. The watched Ophiuchusth with concern and dipped to coiled around above him large wings casting shadows on the young blue. He would do his best to shadow him this flight. Make it a tad easier on the poor things eyes. He brushed the young blue’s mind with a pleasant greeting but nothing else as he watched for the green’s next move.
It wasn’t long before she made it winging upwards in a aerial dance of flips and coils. He would look quite silly trying to copy her tricks. With his size they would be laughable at best. Winging up higher and trusting Ophiuchusth on his own for the moment the brown put a slight twist to his upward climb but not much else, large wings working hard to help him climb as quickly as was possible for one of his mass. All the while he kept a careful eye on Khiraeth noting her movements as well as those of the rest of the chasers. As Arhenaiyth sought to cut him off again and again he merely angled himself so that the blue’s interference was minimal. Silly creature would tire himself out quickly doing that.
~~~~
Sel’n watched with quiet amusement as Qaena greeted her chasers. First T’ri and then a rather almost overenthusiastic greeting to K’ian. Well then. Maybe there was something going on there that he didn’t know about? He was saved from having to think more on it when the girl bounded over to him next. As she grabbed his hands and shook them lightly he awarded her with an actual smile. He did love his students even if he didn’t show it all that often. “Well of course my dear. I wouldn’t miss it.” They were Kaaoloth’s words for sure. Even if Sel’n didn’t mind supporting his students he sure tried to avoid sleeping with them at any costs. Though if he ever did he was sure to request a between trip or two on Kaaoloth. Last thing he needed was student offspring.
He managed to give her hands a light squeeze as she let go and turned to N’rik. Ah N’rik. The boy was young enough that this should be his first flight as well. Hopefully it wouldn’t put him off of them. The brownrider noticed T’ri’s displeasure of course. Not that he did anything to either counter it nor make it worse. It was just something to file away as possibly important. “The lady greets as she chooses to greet.” Sel’n finally replied smoothly to the bluerider with a small wink for Qaena. “In other words my dear blue. Let the woman do what she wishes.”

Ophiuchusth pushed away from the ledges with a few strong wingbeats. In the open air, he could just about make out Khiraeth's lovely green color, dancing around the brownish blurs of Romeoth and Kaaoloth. He thought he saw Arhenaiyth too, but it was hard to tell. His brother looked so much like the pale sky, instead of Ophi's midnight blue. Then Khiraeth drew closer and Ophiuchusth crooned happily. She was so sweet and loving to come say hello!
Embolden by her acceptance, Ophiuchusth powered his wings hard to rise after her. He wanted to try a few tricks for her too. He was getting better at them after all, but with all the light he couldn't be sure of hitting one of the others. At least she was going away from the sun, dear heart. With a short, playful roll, Ophi continued the chase, sending Kaaoloth a grateful croon for his help. The shade was lovely, and he'd hardly expected his teacher to help him during a chase. Even Arhenaiyth was glad he was here. Everyone was so nice! Feeling bolder still, Ophiuchusth ducked under the large dragons, using the brief shade to see his way towards Khiraeth's lovely green form...
...and crashed right towards Arhenaiyth.
N'rik giggled, blushing a little at Qaena's kiss. She was such a tease. Not to be left out, he wriggled closer, beaming. "Yes, let's play!" he agreed with K'ian's idea. Watching her dance with T'ri would be so boring! They all needed to join in the fun, didn't they? Of course, whatever she wanted to do would be fine in the end. But a game was such a great idea!

Khiraeth trilled in amusement at Arhenaiyth's reaction to his nickname. He clearly didn't mind all that much so she playfully reiterated, Arry! The responses of the others was equally appreciated. Rommy clearly liked having her close though he didn't demand her attention either. She crooned at Kaaoloth's response and his helpfullness with Ophiuchusth. That her boys would help each other was greatly appreciated by the green. She wanted no one hurt in her flight that day. She'd watched a couple of other greens fly a bit before Hers inevitably had her stop and there had been some violence in them. What was the fun of that?
The green grew increasingly aware of Arhenaiyth as she flew. His interference in the fun of others and herself was becoming rather tiresome. She'd tried to put it down to males being males, really she had, but his behaviour to Ophiuchusth was clearly different. That meant he was singling out the older dragons. Not to mention that he was crowding her - something that she'd allowed up until then because it wasn't doing any real harm and she didn't want to abandon her other brother. With a light huff the green stalled midair, using the momentary break in movement to twist underneath Arhenaiyth - the problem with crowding meant he had less time to react than if he'd been further away - and flew back the way she'd come. As she passed him she reached out to grab his tail with a paw and give it a tug. If she missed, oh well.
The green whizzed away from Arhenaiyth, circling around her bronze and brown before angling upwards once again. The burning desire to move ever higher was beginning to become overwhelming for the young green. Still, as she glanced back at her males she noticed that Ophiuchusth and Arhenaiyth seemed to be in a bit of trouble. Slight amusement at the turn of events gave way to the much stronger worry for her brothers when Ophiuchusth showed no sign of not crashing into the other blue and she circled lower once again. Phi, Arry, watch out! She called out even though she knew her warning came too late.
Khiraeth laughed lightly at her Arry's response to the nickname, pleased that he enjoyed it so. Perhaps he wasn't quite as distant as she'd first imagined. She laughed more when Rommy picked her up and whispered in her ear. That was her Rommy, alright! Kaao had offered her the same sentiments as Rommy had and the green felt rather humbled. Where dragon Khiraeth was confident in herself, human Khiraeth could never have expected so many to adore her so. And oh but Phi's blush was so adorable! She was all but ambushed (though she certainly didn't mind it in the least) by Arry when she returned to her space and she frowned slightly in thought.
Khiraeth admitted to herself that she'd greeted the others differently but then...he hadn't smiled at her in the beginning, had he? The chorus of Rommy, Kaao, and Phi asking to play instead of dance played out around her and she finally smiled. "We can do both! Oh, but I know a fun dance for all. Come on then, see if you can do it too, friends!" She moved so that everyone might see her well - for some reason she got the feeling that Phi couldn't see so well so she ended up closer to him - and put one hand out in front of her, palm facing downward. The other hand joined it before she flipped the first one over so her palm faced upright...why yes, she was leading them in the macarena!

We all die in the end, I just expect you to do it distinctly sooner than me, is all,[/i] Arhenaiyth shot back, the sarcasm in his words painfully apparent, I'm just offering suggestions. Not that you need them.[/i] Clearly, Arhenaiyth cared ever so much what Romeoth thought of him. Yes, he kept cutting off both Bronze and Brown when they got too close to the green (of course Arhenaiyth was the one that got to decide how close was too close, apparently), but he was no longer going out of his way to get in their way, and he certainly wasn't blocking the Green from anything she wanted to do. After all, Kaaoloth was right - he couldn't keep these tactics up for long, not that Arhenaiyth would admit it, or knew it. He just knew his wings were burning already, and anything he could do to minimize his energy expenditure was probably good.
So: Khiraeth. That's why he was there after all (kind of - as usual, Arhenaiyth's motivations were murky at best, but it had to be assumed that he was at least somewhat interested in catching). He heard the huff when she stalled and flapped his wings extra hard, moving himself up and out of her way as he snaked his head around to watch her go. If dragons could wrinkle their brows, Arhenaiyth's would have been wrinkled - his eyes turned a murky mauve, purple with just a hint of confusion. The tug on his tail only made it worse, knocking him out of alignment and causing an awkward flappy moment to right himself before he could even think of following her. Did she not want his protection? Was she seriously considering these clearly inferior old males? Well, now was as good a time as any to ask.
Wait. Khiraeth?[/i] Arhenaiyth asked, all non-sarcastic concern as he labored to bring himself around and catch up with her again, You're not just tolerating them. Are you seriously thinking you might pick one of the ancient lumps of dragonflesh? That's not... I don't even...[/i] It was rare that Arhenaiyth was rendered speechless, but why she would even think of allowing Romeoth and Kaaoloth to stay when she had two brothers to pick from was simply incomprehensible. The blue was picky when it came to his friends, but all of his clutchmates were his friends automatically. Why would she even think of anyone else?
Well, apparently she was, and for her own good Arhenaiyth felt the need to make sure she didn't make a foolish choice. Pouring on the speed, the blue climbed, eyes only on Khiraeth -
- crash. At first, Arhenaiyth didn't know what had hit him, but as he recovered himself he spotted Ophiuchusth performing a similar maneuver. Smooth move,[/i] Arhenaiyth drawled, anger mixing with affection in his tone... but he was primarily angry. And annoyed. And tired. The repeated need to correct because other dragons couldn't keep their wings in the right place was fraying his already non-existent patience, and the bruises and at least one bleeding scrape left by his run-in with Ophiuchusth finally made him snap. Alright, Arhenaiyth snapped at everyone in general, then twisted in the air, aiming himself at Khiraeth. If his other charges had been clumsy, they were nothing in comparison to this - he basically flung himself at the green with absolutely no finesse. This charge, however, had the added bonus of being lightning-fast, the kind of flash-sprint that only blues and greens could really pull off. With paws outstretched (and luckily claws sheathed), Arhenaiyth snatched for Khiraeth, attempting a force-catch. He was so over this.
Below, Arry wasn't faring much better. She seemed pleased that he approved of the nickname, and she seemed to realize that she'd been unfair with her greeting... but again, the pressure of the other males caused her to bend (Kaaoloth's words were ignored. Khiraeth could do what she wanted, obviously, but that didn't mean Arry had to hang back in the shadows and accept it like a kicked puppy). If it hadn't been for Arhenaiyth's influence, Arry certainly would have said something saucy in reply to Khiraeth's attempt to please everyone. Compromise was not something he admired, especially in a setting where competition was the name of the game. What was he supposed to do, be a good puppy and macarena the best to get her attention? No. He was done with that.
Raising his eyebrows in dry disbelief, he shoved his hands in his pockets and let her start the dance (mainly waiting to see if the other males would comply - T'ri and Arhenaiyth were close enough in personality that both found the idea of authority figures doing the macarena at the bidding of a teenage girl absolutely hilarious) . Once they got to the part where they were supposed to turn to a new direction, though, T'ri stepped forward, grabbing (gently grabbing, yes it's possible) one of Khiraeth's wrists and lifting it above her head. He followed that with a soft push on the small of her back to force her into a turn before pulling her close, her back to his front with their arms crossed in front of her. Leaning down, he whispered in her ear, "That's not what I meant," before placing a soft kiss on the place where her neck met her shoulder.

Pffft. Well, with that attitude. Romeoth was amused by the baby blue’s touchiness. But for now, he was finished with him. Arhenaiyth didn’t matter to the big bronze now, all that mattered was the green. He chuckled as she showed her brother that she didn’t appreciate his actions, and somehow, Romeoth knew that she wouldn’t…which is why he had only tried stopping the blue one time.
He crooned as Khiraeth rounded on him again, looking up as she began to circle him and Kaaoloth too this time. He didn’t mind. The brown wasn’t obviously antagonistic like the blue. Stupid blue. Flaring his wings, he saw that Khir was looking at something and spun slowly around on the air, just in time to see the two blue weyrlings collide in midair. He laughed privately at the tangled blues. It seemed he had been right about the blue’s flying finesse. The awkward werylings were amusing to watch, but when Arhenaiyth spoke, the tone in his voice was clear to Rom.
He wasn’t playing anymore.
Before Romeoth could really react, and blues were notoriously quicker than bronzes and even browns in the air, Arhenaiyth flung himself at Khiraeth. The big bronze could only watch, bellowing out a belated warning to Khir. He didn’t have any time to react. Khir was close to him, but he was still much slower in the air. He flew higher in an attempt to zero down on Arhenaiyth, but there was little he could do in the way of stopping him. He could slam into the blue with all his might, and quite possibly killing him…and Khir if he had managed to force her. Even if she had gotten away, she wouldn’t be very pleased with him if he had seriously injured her brother. So, there was little Romeoth could do. The bronze narrowed his eyes and bugled angrily, hoping that Khiraeth was alert enough to dart away from the clumsy dash her brother made at her. Because really, she had all the advantage here. She was smaller and faster, and her attention had been purely on Arhenaiyth. So, she would surely see him, and if she darted away, he would be so caught off balance that he would likely tumble in midair.
Rom could only hope that the lovely green would dart away to him…at least this once.
As Khiraeth started her dance, Romeoth grinned and tilted his head to the side. Surely the little one would indulge the girl, but Romeoth wasn’t the type to dance, at least…not like this. So, as the girl danced…Romeoth only watched, grinning at her. At least until Arhenaiyth made his move, darting forth lightning quick to grab the girl’s arm and pull her close. K’ian didn’t catch what the boy said to her, but he retained enough of himself to realize this is what he had been afraid of. Moving quickly, he would proceed to positively loom over T’ri (while T’ri wasn’t that much shorter than K’ian, the latter definitely had more muscle and sheer bulk), threat evidence in the man’s stance. He didn’t even need the words. “ Let go of her.” Was said in a dangerously low, even tone. It was clear. If he didn’t let go of Khir, physical violence would most definitely ensue. And if he had learned anything in this flight, it was that Arhenalyth would not hurt his sister intentionally too badly….but K’ian sure would hurt T’ri if he didn’t let go of her…and now.
Truthfully, he didn’t want to fight. This day should be all about Khir…but T’ri was giving him little choice. Once the boy let go of the girl, he would back off...if not, well, K'ian was always prepared for a fight in the back of his mind.

Kaaoloth kept up his steady but true flight drifting a bit close to Romeoth more out of habit then anything else. He mirrored the bronze wing beat for wing beat for a moment solely for his own amusement before he half shut his wings and dipped down to perform a slow roll merely for his own pleasure. Snapping his wings back open he checked the positioning of the other chasers and was quite amused to see Arhenaiyth again move to cut him off. Again Kaaoloth adjusted his wings to minimize the interference and the youngster was gone again. Not so much a problem as merely an annoyance that one. It wasn’t enough for the brown to react though. If the blue got more violet he would take more note of it but as it was it was similar to the pestering of a fly. The older dragon was not one to strike down his students. Even if he saw an opportunity or two open itself up to him. Kaaoloth may be experienced in aerial combat but he wasn’t one to use that experience unless strictly necessary.
Purple gaze shifting back to Khiraeth he watched her turn and then made his own turn as well. As she circled him he crooned to her and then angled his own flight upwards. A quick scan of the surrounding air finally revealed at least one thermal coming off of the sun warmed rocks of the mountain side. Perfect. Slipping into it Kaaoloth added the strength of his own large wings to the power of the rising air and shot quickly upwards working hard to outpace the green and reach the higher altitudes before her. As the brown finally got to a decent height he slipped out of the thermal and swung around in as tight a turn as he could manage given his size. Turning his head to view the other chasers he noted the collision course the two blues were on and chose to simply watch as they disentangled themselves. It was a good opportunity to see how his students were performing in their flight.
A brief thread of anxiety worked it’s way through his gaze as Arhenaiyth made a clumsy and explosive grab for Khiraeth. Not because he thought the green couldn’t handle it but because the blue was putting himself into a bad position by attempting something like that. A nastier green might have taken that opportunity to rip into him with disastrous results. But his sister was of course not a nasty creature. Ah well. The baby blue would learn in time. Hopefully not the hard way. Some greens were much less patient about such crowding. As he watched the attempted grab from above his wings twitched in the desire to dive but he held off. Mostly because if the brown fell too far it would take a lot of work to get up this high again and the green would most certainly be able to rise faster then him. No he was in good standing where he was with the green still climbing as she was. She would be coming up to him after all. Not that Kaaoloth was one to ever attempt a force grab on a maiden. No. He preferred to let them decide on their own for the first flight.

Sel’n was predominantly amused at the goings on in the flight room. There was a little tension true but not too much. When Qaena introduced her decision for some type of silly dance the older man raised an eyebrow and chuckled. Really? She wanted them to play at that. Charming the girl might be but Sel’n didn’t dance. Well not unless he was tipsy and even then he pretty much only half swayed to the beat. Instead he smiled and began a whistle a tune for her to move to punctuating it every so often with a few claps to start a rhythm. There participation without having to look ridiculous.
As T’ri grabbed Qaena though Sel’n’s eyes flashed with something like annoyance and he growled softly in his throat. The noise was a warning. If she did not invite touch it was extremely rude to press the advantage no matter who you were. But with Arhenaiyth in the skies above ignoring personal space it really was no wonder his rider failed to understand the notion either. Before the Weyrlingmaster could react the bronze was already moving to intercept. The older man grumbled in his throat. He did not want to have to participate in breaking up an altercation. Especially not one involving K’ian. He was pretty sure the young bronzer was strong enough to throw the majority of people around without even half trying. Instead he stuck out a hand to prevent N’rik from possibly interfering and snorted.
“Now, now boys. You are hardly impressing the lady with all this excess testosterone.” His eyes flicked to Qaena briefly. “Release her. It is incredibly rude to interrupt how she chooses to direct her own flight. Contrary to what you might think I am sure she has it all well under control.” Sel’n was giving them both a few minutes to step back. Then he was moving to insert himself if needed. No one was forcing Qaena’s hand while he was here and had his sense about him.

At Khiraeth's words, Ophiuchustch flared is wings instinctively. Now he could see how close he was to his brother, but it was too late to avoid collision. He and Arhenaiyth slammed body to body as Ophiuchusth cried out his sorrow. Oh, Arry! I am sorry! Are you alright? He pulled away, earning a few bleeding scraps before his huge wings kept him from falling. Arhenaiyth was so angry. It had been an accident, honestly. Should he be mad too? It was so confusing.
Recovering his balance, Ophiuchusth was dismayed to find he had fallen quite a bit lower than the other chasers. Not only that, but Arhenaiyth was going straight for Khiraeth and he didn't look like he was playing. Ophiuchusth bellowed in dismay and started to power up after them. No fair, Arry! Khi is supposed to chose! At least that was what the older males thought, so it must be right? It was hard to understand with so many opinions and his own blood running so hot. Behind as he was, Ophiuchusth new he had little chance of reaching his siblings, but he wanted to try for Khiraeth's sake.
N'rik liked the dancing game idea. Anything that Qaena wanted to do was fine by him really, but this was such a clever combination of it all that he couldn't resist more grinning. He immediately jumped into the dance, mimicking her moves and pleased to see she was moving closer to him. At least until T'ri grabbed. Growling a bit in is throat, N'rik paced, uncertain of what to do until Sel'n effectively blocked his path. The Ophi in him didn't really like violence, but neither did he want just give into T'ri's bullying and Sel'n's control. Ducking under Sel'n's arm just because, and added his two cents. "Play fair!" he demanded of T'ri. "You ruin the fun!"
