(Couldn't help it. Dmitri's life is such a soap opera -snorts-)
Asleep. He'd been clinging to her like a half-frightened child (half-frightened in that he managed to hold a relatively normal, calm conversation with her while hiding his face in her neck) for the better part of half a candlemark, ignoring the penetrating violet gaze of the gold on the shelf above their bed. Despite his relatively cool handling of Runs and their aftermath in the past, it really wasn't anything he liked, and Piden had creeped him out just enough in Eikask's Run to make him especially wary of Dementia's. But he really could only hold her back for so long, and now that Erilena had drifted off there was nothing much to concentrate on but the need Dementia was broadcasting strongly to him. She was annoyed, too. He should stop being so dramatic and just mate with her like he always should have. (No, she still didn't comprehend issues of size and species.)
Dress. Part of their ritual. The outfit she'd chosen for him this time lay draped over the foot of the bed. "I don't know why I bother when it'll all just come of-" DRESS, she interrupted him firmly, adding a hefty pulse of the lust he'd been forcing her to sit on to augment the command and making the wherhandler gasp. He didn't argue with her further. The pants were tight and the shirt was one of the ones Erilena had torn open at some point...plain white cotton and now buttonless. In terms of Dementia's usual tastes, it was quite plain, but then, Dmitri's wardrobe was also very limited right now. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he rubbed at his jaw and glanced at her sidelong as she took her sweet time unfurling her large wings and finding the perfect point on the ledge to launch her glide from.
Only then did she call her males, her mindvoice snapping with impatience. Attend Dementia, if think worthy. The word was accompanied by a mental sneer and she was off, gliding down to the floor and darting under the door. Dmitri was on his feet and stumbling toward the same door a moment later. Dementia's displeasure with Hers had him instantly immersed and all but completely lost to her, struggling to maintain his mind long enough to get out of here so his sleeping wife didn't have to deal with a bunch of mandyr-crazed rejects. He threw himself out the door in time to see the gold disappearing down a less-used corridor. Toward the library. The library. Fuck.
"Men! Other way," he called after her, breaking into an awkward run that was hampered by the effort it took to keep some thread of awareness. I choose. You follow, she shot back at Dmitri with surprising venom. Okay, so she really was pissed off by how long he'd been holding her back. Come now, the gold added as an afterthought, dismantling the last of the wall between them in a dizzying wave. It was powerful enough that the bluehandler, normally a ridiculously graceful man, tripped over his own feet and faceplanted spectacularly with a growl of unbridled desire that terminated in a hiss of pain. Pushing himself to hands and knees, he tossed his head back and glared over his shoulder at anyone who happened to have seen, eyes narrowing dangerously. The man arched his back and pushed himself to his feet with shocking grace for someone who had just tripped over them a second ago, returning his eyes forward and springing into a sprint that took him in the same direction Dementia was heading.
Said gold had her wings spread to keep the large appendages from dragging behind her and tail whipping back and forth as she poured on every ounce of speed she had, jetting for the 'forbidden' part of the weyr. No part of the Weyr was forbidden to her, Mother of All Mandyrs. (Nevermind that Dael had been first. Since the first gold was dead, the title clearly defaulted to Dementia herself.) For now she gave her pursuers no challenges but that of keeping up with her, zipping down the center of the hall with her full golden glow very noticeably on her, picking up her retinue of suitors as she went.

Nocturne was freaking miserable. It wasn't often that a draconid got sick, but sick the blue was. Normally the blue would settle into a very sleep filled schedule to get over it quicker but...his mate was glowing quite strongly and that simply wasn't an option. Dementia was erratic as it came and if he wasn't prepared at any moment and failed to show on time he knew he would lose his mate. She was troublesome in her own way on occasion but she was better than all the clingy greens out there. Finally the gold sent out her call and the blue uncurled from his position on His' pillow.
Mate calls, the blue said simply to His. It was about as polite as the blue got with anybody. Eikane groaned even as he offered Nocturne a tired smile. "Why so soon after Eikask's?" He didn't expect an answer and he didn't receive one. Nocturne had already leapt off the bed (Eikane once again privately thought the blue's little splat anytime he hit the floor was kind of amusing) and was dashing towards the door. As the blue slipped under the crack, Eikane sighed and stood up. Nocturne could - and would, later on - commandeer his mind but the blue understood the importance of His being prepared.
Limps were such a hassle in runs, really. The goldhandler didn't reach for his cane though. More likely than not it would be lost somewhere along the way...or worse used as a weapon. He'd just have to deal with being the slowest one of the group. He and Nocturne could be disadvantaged together. Eikane exited his weyr and started on his way after the run. The blue caught sight of the gold fairly soon after exiting the weyr and he scrambled faster to put himself within a decent range. He greeted her with a brush of his mind, his presence speaking for himself. The blue had never needed words to get his point across - actions spoke so much louder.
Still, if Dementia noticed his state she might not be too pleased with him. His energy was already quite lower than it usually was which would be seriously bad in a gold run and his hide was duller than usual. Even his eyes were whirling a more muted shade of violet. The blue made a point to try and keep another chaser between him and the gold, striving only to show small glimpses of himself at a time. Let it not be said that the blue couldn't be crafty when he wanted to.

Dementia had a watcher. A silent appreciator. Even if the brown flit was originally a little irritated at the golden mandyr, in full glow that little trifle was shoved far, far aside. Who cared if she hissed at him in the rare instances he got to see the little babies? She was so gorgeous she could currently bite him and he’d still desire her. Golds had been few and far between at Burimyu and now that they were here again Amour never let a chance to chase one pass. He would be an amazing clutch father he was sure. So what if Dementia didn’t like firelizards? Surely she would accept him once he could prove himself. He was an amazing lover he was sure. (So what if he had never caught anything because he was bound and determined to chase only golds?) Instinct had to count for something and he had enough built up desire that he was positive that she’d at the least acknowledge that he was enthusiastic at the very least.
Currently the brown flit was perched in a shadowy corner of Dmitri’s weyr with Erilena’s blue firelizard Grim. Amour was positive that he hadn’t been noticed yet. He had had his eyes on her from the beginning after all and she hadn't even so much as glanced his way. Probably because she was busy berating her mind bond. Finally the golden queen was moving however and as she glided off her ledge his wings twitched in excitement. The blue beside Amour raised his head and gave a sleepy chirp, a offer of good luck if you will, before curling tighter in on himself in his random cuddle mate’s absence. Grim knew better then to chase after Dementia. She tolerated him at best. No sense in violating their tentative peace treaty so to speak by enraging her somehow.
As the object of his raging desires leapt to the floor and called her suitors Amour dove off his perch as well. Large wings flaring as they caught air he looped around to stick close to Dmitri, shooting out the door just as soon as the harper opened it enough that he could fit though the space. Twisting into a roll he leveled out and shot down the hallway after Dementia a song of praise leaving his throat. Such energy and beauty. She was such a stunning creature. How could any but the most dense fail to worship her? Wings beating in fast succession Amour raced though the hallways keeping well above the gold but as close as possible to her running form. As he went he noticed other chasers joining from here and there and he noted them as they joined. Mandyr runs were different from firelizard flights. Mandyrs played much dirtier and it wouldn’t do to not be on his guard. Desirable as Dementia was Amour was not as completely stupid as he seemed.
Shards but she hated it when she got stuck with records room guarding. It normally fell to Legatus to guard the stupid place the majority of the time. It unnerved Elysia to be this close to the place that still sometimes haunted her dreams. But really guarding in twos made it a little better. The greenrider glanced over at A’emi again. He was much better company then some of the others she had to guard with. At least she could have fun with him and it made the time pass quicker. As well as kept her mind off of things. “So honestly if you want I can go hold him while you get in a few decent punches? I don’t see why we can’t make up some excuse for why the Candidatemaster deserves a good jaw busting. Plus I am sure with S’rei on my side we’d both get minor slaps on the wrist.” Was she being serious or joking? It was hard to tell from her tone. Especially since her dark eyes were both dancing with amusement and excitement.
Really and honestly Elysia would get a kick out of seeing someone kick the shit out of M’kai. She didn’t much like him or his bronze riding brother. Plus anything she had ever heard from A’emi about the situation with the bluerider just pissed her off. A’emi was one of the few people she tolerated enough to actually call a friend. Which by default caused him to get preferable treatment from the greenrider. Up to and including sharing tiny bits of their lives. Stretching the woman paused mid stretch and gave a deep sigh. “Oh great. Seems as if my firelizard is chasing. Just what I need while I’m stuck here playing pointless guard. The desire to fuck someone.” Elysia half whined to her companion. The feeling was really made all the worse on account of the recent small dry spell S’rei and her seemed to be having. It seemed that the bronzer lost pretty much all his desire when she freaked out on him once in bed. Granted it was surprising and she hadn’t done it in a long time. But still. The result was quite bothersome and made her feel guilty and that guilt was starting to creep towards insecurity. So yes Amour lusting did not make the woman feel one bit better about anything. “Fuck my life.” Who was the idiot chasing anyway? One of the golden flits had already gone up. Maybe the other one had too?

Kaius was starting to think he had gotten lucky. So far in their relationship, King had not chased any mandyr, green or otherwise. He was starting to think, and was grateful for the thought, that the little bugger was asexual or something, which would suit him quite well, especially when he actually impressed a dragon. What he hadn’t taken to account was that there hadn’t been any gold runs that he could actually participate in. King would probably never chase his own mother, and that left Dementia and Leviathan, the latter of which hadn’t even had her maiden run. So, when Dementia was getting close to her time, King had been absent from His’ presence more and more often, most likely going off to stalk the object of his blossoming desire. When he was with Kaius, he was unusually loving and affectionate. Kai thought nothing of this. Up until now, he had had no experience at all with draconid lust of any kind, so he was mistaking the signs of Dementia coming close to running as mood swings.
If he had only stopped to think to himself that this was not normal behavior for his salamandyr, he might have had an inkling of what was coming, not that it would have helped him any…but maybe not. As a candidate, Kaius had little to no interaction with the wherhandlers, and he had never attended any of Dementia’s hatchings, so he had no reason to even notice that the salamandyr was proddy or that she had begun to glow.
As it was, when Dementia finally decided to run (or rather, when Dmitri finally let her), Kaius was soundly asleep, blissfully unaware of what was about to befall him. King had been curled up restlessly on his bonded’s chest, knowing that the run would be soon. When he finally caught wind of her call, his head shot up in an instant, staring blankly into the dark at something that was far away. Turning his mind to Kaius, King nudged the boy’s mind lightly, Wake. Kaius reacted, but it was no more to groan lightly, likely attributing the lust from his connection with King to a wet dream or some sort. When the boy didn’t immediately rise, the bronze salamandyr got slightly more irritated and growled into the candidate’s mind, a little more insistent. Wake!
The insistence in the pressing into his mind combined with the sudden surge of lust woke the boy up this time. Sputtering and blinking into the dark, he nearly knocked King off, but the salamandyr clung to the boy’s chest with strong claws, causing Kaius to growl in pain. “ What?” he hissed. Now, normally King would have already been away, trusting his bonded to follow. But, as this was Kaius’ first run, and humans didn’t have the instincts that mandyrs had, King felt the need to impart one word of advice on the boy’s mind before he would release his grip. Follow… With that, the bronze salamandyr skittered out of the room, leaving poor Kaius utterly confused. The lust that washed over him in waves was utterly consuming and it took the boy a moment of grappling with it to realize what was happening. Eyes widened and he fell to his bed, pulling the blanket over his head, trying to pull it tight. The lust was manageable at the moment, but he knew it would get worse. He remembered someone telling him once not to fight flightlust. Things would only turn out worse if you did.
Whining softly, Kaius decided to trust his salamandyr, hoping beyond hope that the owner of the salamandyr his was chasing was some pretty girl. No wonder the candidatemaster forbade them from standing at salamandyr hatchings.
King noticed the tell-tale brilliant glow of the queen – his queen, before too long. There was another chaser…a blue he noticed with a little surprise. Trilling, the bronze ignored Nocturne for now. Had they not been in a run, perhaps he would have greeted the other male with polite amiability, but now they were competitors. King would barely chase in his life, but he needed a gold, and he would have her. The flirelizard was completely ignored as King followed Dementia’s golden trail, trilling after her. Bootyful Dementia. Shiny. Glowing. Perfect. He finally settled on, taking position adjacent but slightly in front of Nocturne.
Any thoughts Kaius had of resisting were washed away with another rush of surging lust when King caught sight of the queen and finally started chasing in earnest. Rising in bed, the boy grappled with the lust, half falling, half scrambling out of his bed, tangled up in his furs. Groaning with the effort, he extracted himself from the mess. Half wondering how he would even find the run, he unconsciously gave himself over to his salamandyr’s mind. Then he followed the bond, the intangible threads of trust and lust leading him towards the gathering. In all the worry, he hadn’t thought to change his clothing. The boy was dressed in nothing more than a pair of sleep slacks, his chest bare (along with fresh marks from King's claws) and hair slightly tousled from being roused from bed as he made his way to Dmitri.

If one were to squint. Maybe, just maybe Dementia could look like a ball. A shiny irritable ball. Sure, she wasn't exactly the usual target for the brown chubby chaser, but then when she managed to loop her tail over itself into little circles, Magoo couldn't help but be entranced. Circles, spheres, balls, anything bouncy - and mandyrs definitely had a habit of being bouncy - lured the strange firelizard to the scene. Sure his owner had a little too much fun with this knowledge, often playing cruel games of fetch with the creature, but it was hard to feel too guilty considering the fact that other than feeding or oiling time, that was the only way to keep Magoo around. He wasn't the warmest of pets in the least.
The bond wasn't even strong enough to tug C'zan one way or another when he felt the slightest stirring of a mind presence that wasn't Viaqueth for a change. How odd... the little piggy was planning on chasing a true mandyr Queen. A wicked smile crossed the Wastelander's face. Maybe this would be a bit interesting hmmm? As the brown scratched through his collection for a special token to show Dementia (show, not give, he just wanted to make sure that the gold was aware that she would be in good company when he claimed her as his) the bluerider rose from his unhurried position laying about his weyr, to reach for a collection of his own. Arming himself with a knife he readied to dive in. No, the man probably had no place going into the bedlam that was a mandyr run, but it was that very fact that excited him.
It had been too long since the tithe incident, and his leg having healed from the earthquake, he was ready to throw himself into some senseless chaos. It was probably the closest thing he would come to being in war again now that the place was ruled by the peace lovers.
It was then that the roly poly brown picked out a silver ring and clutched it greedily for a moment before lumbering up into the air with it. Yes, he'd entice his golden love with pretties, and just when she thought it was safe, she'd be his. Not missing the conspiratorial notions baking in his bonded's mind the man purred, "What a diabolical plan you have Magoo.... now lead the way...." The brown wasn't the most cooperative creature however, and merely sent C'zan the vague image of the library doors before shifting through space to appear there himself in the corridors leading to the forbidden realm. With something of a pop he appeared then a little behind the gold and the crowd already gathering around her. Other suitors? How dare them! The brown made a startled croak in clear disapproval of any kind of competition, before snorting and continuing regardless. It was ok, he had his silver ring were clearly superior.

She’d gone down with A’emi to the records room, but Titania had better things to do, on that night in particular, than watch a perfectly ordinary door, and anyway Elysia held no fascination for the green. So it was that the green had slipped off quite early, found herself a nice nook in the wall halfway back up to the weyrs to curl up in a ball, tail over her nose and her eyes gleaming palely in the half-light; she had no real interest in returning to T’san’s weyr where Svelte was sure to be—not that she had anything against the other green, but neither was Titania particularly fond of Svelte, and in any case, distractions would be wholly unwelcome. There had, after all, been a particularly lovely glow to their queen of late.
Dementia’s call had her quietly stretching, uncurling with a calm carefulness; a blink changed sleepy blue eyes to violet. She leapt to the floor, flaring out her wings and flicking them closed again. Dementia, helpfully, passed almost right down her hallway, and Titania crooned softly, half-gliding and half-scampering to the intersection to meet the gold’s path, falling in with a flicker of a glance towards the others, distantly interested. The firelizard earned a particularly curious gaze for a second, but it was of little importance, after all. Dementia would choose, and Titania had no grudge against firelizards.
Thy firmness makes my circle just, hummed soft and pervasive, a discreetly private touch, and makes me end where I begun. It is an honor, if I may?
A question. Permission, even if it was only really on principle. Titania hardly even expected an answer. Just—Dementia was not Mouse, was not a sibling at all, or even a Salamandyr she was remotely close to or fond of. Asking for permission was…her way of acknowledging that. And Dementia was gold, even if she was female; there were bound to be differences there. Deferring was…logical.
A’emi snorted at Elysia’s offer, grinning crookedly at her. He was slouched casually against the wall, thumbs hooked into his belt loops and his head tipped back against the cool stone; standing at attention (or anything remotely resembling attention) had long ago been given up. Because, come on—it was boring. Nothing happened. At least Elysia was more than entertaining company; the sharp laugh her words earned was nothing short of entirely genuine. M’kai was…yes. Problematic. And sometimes he sort of did want to punch him, and other times he was just too frustrated to make the effort, and whenever he was actually around M’kai, punching just never happened. So.
“Might take you up on that,” he commented, half-seriously. “Seeing how we have friends in high places.” Teasing now. It amused him, Els and S’rei, if only because he was definitely remembering an anti-bronzer period. (It was a period he had yet to get out of, and frankly A’emi didn’t want to anyway.)
But…but.
Elysia’s comment had him straightening, brow furrowing at the faint, renewed awareness of Titania. “Suddenly isolation seems awfully convenient,” he said automatically—hitting on Els was as natural as breathing and as far as he was concerned, essentially completely playful. And in any case, Titania was—his eyes flashed wide open with realization the instant Titania spoke, and the immediate following flash of lust had his throat going dry, dizzy nausea momentarily sinking in the pit of his stomach before he said, with all the eloquence of a man near-panicking, “Well shit…uh.”
He straightened, pressed his palm against his eyes, fingers seeking his temples. “You’re not the only one with a horny mindmate,” he commented eventually, “As it turns out, Titania can’t keep it in her pants either. Told you about that fucking bronzer, didn’t I? Um. Literally?”

Peeking from the drawer in His' room he practically cooed in pleasure. He'd noticed. Oh how he had noticed. The gold's hide had been looking so bright lately, she was practically glowing. He'd taken to in the last few days leaving small flowers outside Hers' door - though she didn't seem to have ever noticed them. Uncurling from his soft spot buried in lace and silk he moved the articles of clothing around until he found the perfect one. Picking it up gently in his maw he hopped to the edge of the drawer and called out to S'rring, Pretties for prettiest of pretties! Come come. Hurry hurry!
What in all of Pern was the bronze going on about now? S'rring groaned and turned over in his bed, only to bump into a slumbering mass of brown. Which brown S'rring couldn't quite tell since Uth and Oth were curled up against one another and were literally identical in appearance when not moving. When moving one with a keen eye could tell one of the brown twins was a smidge bulkier, more muscular, than the other one. And of course when they spoke it was clear which was which as well - or it was to S'rring at least. Scooting over he sat up fully and stretched only to soon find Atlas on top of his head preening his hair. "Knock it off." He spoke quietly so as not to wake his roommate or the twins who were taking up a portion of his bed - now that he looked at it he wondered how he had even fit on there with them without being squished.
As sleepy as he was he still hadn't quite figured out what was going on. However when Dementia's call went out there was a strong wave of lust from Atlas and all the sleepiness snapped right out of him. Shards and shells, Atlas was going to chase whatever creature had just gone up. Mentia. Prettiest of pretties! The bronze informed His enthusiatically. Oh nooooooo.
Satisfied with His' hair - or maybe just no longer able to stick around since Dementia had taken wing and given her challenge - Atlas took to the air with the undergarments still kept in his maw. "What are you doing? No, stay here. Stop it." S'rring had no control of the bronze though, and soon he was losing himself to the bronze's emotions as well. The rutound bronze waited impatiently at the door for His to open it, and once He did he shot into the hall to catch up with the gold. Soon he was among the pack of followers - and while he normally would have something lovely to say he found himself a bit tongue tied. She was a salamandyr after all, and a gold! No firelizard or human female, she was the real deal - how could he say anything lovely enough to compete with her own loveliness? Instead he just swerved and ducked so he was ahead of one of the others, the pair of black lacey panties hanging from his maw and beating lightly against his belly as he flew after Dementia.
S'rring practically tripped and fell over himself and anyone in the hallway as he followed after his bronze - the distant look in his eye spoke to just how well he was taking his 'mandyr's first run. Not well at all. Oh he was still there, in his mind. Just not in charge, at all. Wave after wave of lust and desire were eminating from Atlas and drowning out any emotions or thoughts the man had on his own. He didn't even know where he was going as he made his way from the barracks towards the library - he was just following after the emotional bronze and letting their bond lead the way.

For the most part, Dementia was only peripherally aware of the several chasers who were falling into place as they should be. (It did not matter that she'd taken Nocturne as her mate consistently for a time. A Queen deserved a large vanguard and reserved the right to change her mind. Nevermind that Nocturne would have to do something drastic to lose her favor, and he wasn't a drastic sort of 'mandyr.) In fact, he was one of the first to arrive (along with that brown that liked to hang around her Harperlove babies) in true Nocturne fashion. Such a good, loyal mate who didn't bug the shit out of her when she didn't want him around.
Something seemed off about him though...maybe...she wasn't quite sure.
A green? Asking permission to chase? Well! She certainly was well-spoken (if a touch confusing, at that) and at least she knew enough to ask permission. Dementia was an equal-opportunity sort of queen, having taken a green as a mate in the past as long as she came with the appropriate accoutrements to produce the clutch Dementia would lay (i.e. a male slave) so Dementia didn't see why not. You may, she addressed her green subject, with an inviting mental touch that did not extend to the almost cold nature of the words themselves.
Oh, was that a bronze? Dementia had little fondness for bronzes (mostly due to the typical bronze attitude) but this one didn't seem to be exhibiting that particular fault right at this moment. She was willing to reserve judgment until he did. Now wasn't she a fair queen? Yes. Perfect. What have you to offer? she questioned curiously, even as another brown flit emerged, this one with something shiny? Was that a gift? Well...maybe she wouldn't send him away...though she hissed furiously at his protest. A Queen deserved every chaser she got, and he should remember that if he wanted to be one of them.
Another bronze 'mandyr she wasn't familiar with. Oh ho. And this one had brought a present, too? She welcomed all her 'mandyr chasers with a brief pulse of approval as well as a secondary one of curiosity to the second of her bronzes regarding that odd frothy thing he had with him? then continued on her headlong dash. Dementia hadn't once paused or even slowed down while she was cataloguing all of her chasers. Most likely there would be more. Not like she was going to make it easy on them when they were the ones who were late, though.
Dementia made a beeline for that door to the 'forbidden' place, darting over feet in the process and scrunching right under the door and into the room. Open! she commanded, to any human who might obey her, swallowed in the lust of the Run or no. It was only the concession she'd make for the flits. (And really she'd only made it because the green had impressed her some but would not be a suitable mate without something to mitigate her one obvious deficiency.)
Dmitri wasn't far behind the flood of pets. He was a fast man any day, spending most of his nights running with a wher and having both the benefit of a ridiculously long stride as well as a relatively light frame. The teenager flung himself between A'emi and Elysia at full speed, crashing his shoulder into the door and letting out another hiss. "Ouch," he snarled under his breath, rubbing ruefully at the spot and grabbing for the handle. If the door had been locked, it seemed that his mass hitting it at full speed must have busted it, because the door began to swing open...

Nocturne had to hand it to Dementia, she always drew in the oddest sort of chasers. The oddest being a group that admittedly included himself - blues, greens, and firelizards. Still, if any gold would accept a non-traditional mate it would be Dementia as well. The blue weaved skillfully among the gold's chasers, still attempting to keep his cold a secret from Dementia. Since she had yet to bring it up he figured he still had the metaphorical green light. Sick or no, the blue would not leave a task unfinished unless ordered otherwise.
The blue zipped under the door into the so-called forbidden place. Nocturne knew he probably shouldn't be in there since His strictly forbade anyone from going in there but Eikane didn't seem to care at the moment anyways. The blue stumbled then, a short coughing fit coming upon him suddenly. He stopped moving, a shiver passing along his body until he recovered. That was highly unpleasant. It also put him in a pretty bad position relative to the gold. Perhaps the distance hadn't allowed Dementia to notice? One could hope.
((Eikane's kinda just hobbling slowly down the hallway still. XP))
----
Ioth rose grumpily from his sleep, tail lashing suddenly to one side as Onyth addressed him. It took a few moments for him to make sense of what she was saying and then he tiredly prodded Iskierka. I'm sorry Iskierka but Onyth says a bunch of runlusted salamandyr owners are trying to barge into the libra- Iskierka bolted upright and snatched her knives immediately. Yeah, no, those doors were staying closed thank you very much. She did not want the knowledge that those things could get out into the weyr proper.
She didn't bother with dressing (really who did when there was an emergency?) and just strapped her knives to her thighs as per usual. Figured Onyth would prod Ioth though. Iskierka would have liked to get a decent night sleep for once. Oh well. Clad in bright red undergarments and knives, the bluerider ran towards the library at top speed, bare feet smacking against the stone floors. The bluerider caught sight of the gaggle at the entrance to the library and an honest to goodness surge of panic gripped her for a moment. Look, a buffet.
She shoved aside her roiling emotions and moved to help Elysia. Of course, her emotions had stirred up her second mindmate who was quite interested in the events going on. Gore-jus gold? Rhino run, her brown salamandyr purred in her mind and began to make his own way to the run. Iskierka exclaimed, "Fuck! Elysia, we got until my own little bastard gets here to get those doors sealed." Why now of all times was there a crisis and her 'mandyr running? The brown could overpower her mind in a way Ioth never could.

It was...weird that a green was asking to chase the queen. King was a little perturbed by that. For the most part, he let things be and let other salamandyrs lived the way they wanted. But what good could a green do a queen? She needed a big strong mandyr to make big strong lots of babies...not a green who couldn't even make eggs with her. Titania recieved more attention than any of Dementia's other suitors (and King would be forever grateful that Queen didn't show up at the run. Though it would have been awesome to rub his twin's face in it when King won the gold's favor) That attention only lasted for a fraction of a second. Then the queen's attention was on him and King crooned lovingly, beaming at his beautiful Dementia. Loveeee Dementia. King loveee. And make big strong babies. Best babies of all! His black frilless spines extended and he puffed his chest out. He should have grabbed something, but Kaius didn't have a wide selection of things that would fit such a beautiful gold salamandyr such as she. Dementia deserves best babies, best loveeee. He slipped under the door after her, ignoring everything else around him. The human squabbles were pointless. The only thing that mattered was her, and he wanted her.
Kaius was beginning to see why candidates were forbidden from standing at mandyr hatchings. He was so overwhelmed by King's lust. He had never felt anything like this before, and it was utterly consuming. Moving down the hall, more quickly than he would have liked, the shirtless teenager took the scene in before him. Somewhere, at the back of his mind, he knew that they weren't supposed to go into the library, but at the moment, it didn't really matter. Feet moved, almost of their own accord. Eyes fount Dmitri and Kaius crooned (crooned? really?). She really was looking quite gorgeous tonight. (What the fuck? He's a fucking guy!) Kaius struggled with the lust, grappling with it.
Ignoring Elysia and A'emi, he strode towards Dmitri. " Best babies..." He said silkily, reaching for Dmitri. He paused, though, hand wavering in mid air. Jerking it away, he shook his head, hand going to his temples, trying to clear his vision. " What the fuck did I just say?"
This was too much.
King didn't understand why his human was making such a big fuss out of it. This was clearly the way it was supposed to be. Keeping hot on Dementia's tail, he gave her enough room that she wouldn't feel crowded (hopefully), but he tried to keep himself at the front of the pack. Clearly he was the best suitor for her, but he didn't need to go tempting fate.

Wings beat in rapid succession as Amour shot through the hallway after Dementia. An amused glance was given to the growing stampede of worms beneath him. They were far below though. Not much of a threat to him at all when he was zipping along much higher then they were. Another plus on his side would be that even as a small brown he was much bigger then them all. Even the bronzes. Vibrant violet eyes moved back to the golden empress of his desires. Dimly in the back of his mind the flit felt his bonded’s irritation. But she had been so irritated as of late that it was rather easy for Amour to push her to the very back of his mind to ignore.
Dipping a little lower the smaller and more agile brown shot past Magoo with a teasing trill. Twisting to his side Amour did a half a roll to display his excitement with the whole thing and then increased his speed. He stayed a few flitter length’s behind Dementia and just high enough that one of the mandyrs would certainly have to work hard to get to him. It was purposeful to give him some sort of reaction time should they prove hostile. Only once he had settled back in rhythm did the small brown start up a pretty little song for her. A variation of one of the tunes that he had heard Dmitri sing every once and while.
Finally they were approaching their destination and oh look it was his! His beautiful golden bonded was given a chirp of acknowledgement as Dementia shot over her feet and slipped under the door. Oh no! Amour gave a distressed croon as he slammed on the breaks to avoid smashing into the door. As it was he slowed down enough that he could use his back legs to springboard off the door and save him any injury. He ignored the mental command of his to cease and desist only when Dementia’s bonded came flying down the hall to slam into the door. There was his chance! With a cry of jubilation Amour whipped around in a tight turn and folded himself as small as possible before shooting through the small opening made as the door started to swing open.
~~~
Elysia glanced over at A’emi with concern. “What? She’s chasing again? Yeah you did tell me about K’ian. I’ll tell you what, bronzer is a….” But before she could finished movement out of the corner of her eye had her turning and her dark eyes widened further. “Oh shit. Oh fuck.” Not the most eloquent thing that had ever left her mouth but the small herd of mandyrs and flits bearing down on them lead by none other then Dementia herself did not bode well. The greenrider swung around to face the direction the group was coming from, her hands moving towards her weapons automatically. Did she really want to hurt anyone? No. But on the flip side if they let those beasts out who knew what could happen? Horrific images of Meira briefly flashed through her head and in a slight panic she reached out to Onyth. Help we need help. Library. Now. It was at the moment she was contacting her dragon that Dementia slipped over her feet. Good thing too because Elysia was in enough of a panic that she might actually have tried to kick the gold away from the door. As it was the woman turned just in time to see Dmitri fling himself in their direction. Shit.
The green needed no further words as her head moved from it's place on Salenth’s back and she gave a displeased hiss. Reaching automatically for Kyrahth there was a brief argument with the other green. Not liking her answer and not having enough time to argue with the other female she shoved Kyrahth’s consciousness aside and reached out for Ioth. The call to the blue was imploring and held and undercurrent of slight distress. Ioth. Elysiamine and Kyrahth’s need help. There is a herd of mandyr crazed trying to break into the library. Tell yours to hurry. With that the green rocked to her feet and paced to the end of her ledge hissing in displeasure.
Not wanting to risk getting body slammed by the large teenager Elysia sidestepped out of Dmitri’s way and tried not to panic as the door he had just hit started to swing inward. A brief mental yell was given to Amour before Elysia lunged for Dmitri. Her hand lashed out to strike across his wrist to prevent it from connecting with the handle. As the harper turned to face her, no doubt to yell some weird angry mandyr drivel inspired by Dementia, the greenrider moved forward into his space. In a rush of quick movement she shifted to place her knee behind him and shoved at his chest with all the strength she could muster. The woman might not be as large or strong as the handler but that didn’t much matter with this move. As Dmitri toppled back and onto the floor in front of the door Elysia flung her whip at A’emi yelling back to the greenrider as she did so. “Use that to tie the doors shut. Use one of the knots Ka’rys taught us. You should remember.” On the plus side concentrating on tying that knot should hopefully help him distance his salamandyr a bit more as well.
It was just after she tossed the whip at him that she noticed Iskierka. A thankful look was given the other woman before the bluerider spat a sudden curse and Elysia blinked at her in confusion. That confusion turned to horror as Iskerika explained and the greenrider nodded and moved to place herself directly in front of the doors, drawing her blade as she did so. “Okay. I think you better get rid of those blades now then Iskierka. Last thing we need is you using them against us.” As she spoke her dark eyes flicked to the milling group of mandyr crazies and she bared her teeth slightly in a feral expression. If they wanted in they had to get through her first. And she was not going to make it easy on them. Hopefully her other two wingmates could hold their mindmates back enough to be of some use.
It would have been silly for Magoo to be surprised by the arrival of more suitors. Especially mandyr suitors. Dementia was after all the mandyr queen and all of that. However, what was throwing the brown for a loop was the arrival of a green. Ohhhhh those silly salamandyrs with their queer little ways. No matter. Magoo was more than sure that he would prove to be the best. Simply because he was. Look at that lovely plump to him, it meant that he was well fed, and took care of himself he did. He would take care of Dementia too... and curl into a perfect little ball with her... but he was already getting so far ahead of himself. He needed to catch up with her first, and so he lumbered along, finding himself quickly passed by even the later comers to the race.
.... must fly faster....
Unfortunately in his concern over picking up speed he failed to pay attention to exactly where he was going. The brown was at one moment wholly focused on his gold prize, and the next face planting right into the door to that forbidden library. D'oh! In a perfectly cartoonish show, the brown dropped the silver ring to let it clink against the ground and spin in circles, before he too slid down the wooden facing to meet the stone floor. Seeing nothing but stars for a moment, the firelizard's eyes lurched open just in time to see a trail of bronze - surely the fleeting vision of one of the other chasers - through the gap to the library. Instinctively the brown lunged forward to join them, only to find his body far too hefty for the task. He was effectively stuck, and flailing around, and screaming because ugh these stupid people were all around stomping where his precious tail was. Ahhhh!
Luckily C'zan had made it down to the chaos just in time. Perfect. Just as everyone seemed to break out into insanity all around him, the bluerider entered the scene as the very picture of calm. His hands half shoved into his pockets, he strolled over to the door with a gentle whistle, before pausing to watch the Legatus members struggle with the door. It was then that he noticed his own little flitter having quite the time trying to smash his waistline through. That wouldn't do... despite Elysia's presence as gatekeeper, he clearly didn't give a shit and with the element of surprise on his side felt sure enough that he could handle whatever the woman had to throw at him. Knife or no. With two very calculated steps approached her, "Excuse me love..." placed his hands on her hips and kicked a leg out. Not at her... but between her own feet, to help punt his firelizard through the door, "Fancy meeting you here."
Titania tilted her head at the gold’s acknowledgement, purred a low silky appreciation of words and the mental touch both. The green Salamandyr made no move to close the space between herself and the gold—she was perfectly content to be part of the Chase and it was too early anyway to crowd up to Dementia. Leave that to the silly bronzes who thought that staying right on Dementia’s tail showed, what, creativity? She would allow them attention, too; she was not a jealous creature, after all. Instead, she merely cast a thoughtful glance at Amour and Magoo—Amour in particular; he was more known to her through A’emi, hmm.
She snaked her merry way down the hallway, gliding and springing off of the walls to sustain herself in a smooth flight interspersed with brief moments of running. Titania’s serpentine form was much more suited to the aerial than most Salamandyrs, after all, and gliding was easier on her anyway; she was hardly above using that. Her gaze flashed towards Hers, sharp and thoughtful, for a moment as they came into view, before Titania put on a sharp burst of speed that sent her slithering under the door swiftly behind Dementia.
Wherever the queen went, she’d follow—and in any case, her presence would be better for Dementia’s safety than lack thereof, wouldn’t it?
Titania flared her wings as the doors slid open enough to admit the firelizards, a sharp glance directed upwards to check for their presence, and she spoke to Amour privately (Titania was quite confident of the intelligence of firelizards; she respected Darkling’s ability to create chaos even if the other green was sadly aimless most of the time), I trust you will not let harm come to our queen either. Not an order; Titania’s tone turned it into a simple statement of fact; Amour was Elysia’s and she knew as much as A’emi did, and she expected Amour would be the most useful, therefore, of the other Chasers.
A’emi hissed, gritting his teeth; the sight of the small glowing queen and her entourage had him paling visibly. His control was shaky enough as it was; the proximity couldn’t possibly help and…he braced himself against the wall, and at the sight of Dmitri, he reached out sharply for Kyrahth, pressing the green into consciousness so harshly that she actually recoiled on Dsoleth’s ledge, graceless in her alarm, and nearly sent herself skidding straight into Dsoleth before her claws got purchase. Onyth’s mental touch earned a decidedly hostile response, and really it could only ever deteriorate from there.
Inocenth, she eventually snapped, thoroughly ignoring everything Onyth had said, A’emi wants to know if Yours is willing to play hero, there’s a gold worm Run and everyone’s going to get eaten by monsters in the library if she has it her way. As it happens, I like A’emi uneaten better.
Whip. Right. A’emi fumbled it, caught it and twisted the ends around his hands—as much as he usually disliked being ordered around, he was just grateful for it now. (He was never going to feed Titania ever again, if she even made it out alive.) He made it to the door in three strides, entirely ignoring C’zan. Kyrahth’s cold fury slid through his mind, startling ice to Titania’s fire, as he grabbed the door handles—both firelizards had gotten through, and they could get out fine by way of between, whatever, unimportant—and jerked them closed, and then even if he didn’t consciously remember every loop of the knot he worked into Els’s whip, he compensated by thoroughly tangling the whip through the handles.
And then, at Kaius’s idiotic, dazed comment, A’emi spun around and punched the kid in the stomach, tangling his other hand in his hair in absence of a shirt, and shoved him hard out of the doorway—whether or not he’d intended to end up there was beside the point; following Dmitri had ensured he ended up there and while A’emi didn’t trust himself to touch Dmitri, he had no such compunctions about some scrawny kid whose mindmate was Titania’s competition. “Figure it out later,” he hissed, “Get out of here.”
The tripping and flailing S'rring was doing somehow managed to get him where he needed to go. Did he know the library was forbidden? Yes, sure, everyone knew. By proxy this meant Atlas also knew. Did either the salamandyr or the man care right now? Not one damn bit.
So when Dementia made her way under the door her suitors followed, all except Atlas. At least at first. While he was very lusty for the pretty gold something else caught his eye - Iskierka. How could she not have caught his attention? Those bright... red... pretties! The bronze stopped just short of the door and stared at them. They might be an even better gift for Dementia. Yes they would! Mind made up - what little of a mind he had - Atlas scurried up the woman's legs, past her knives, her hips, up to her breastband. So red. So niiiice. Clawing at it he crooned to her, Beauty girl no need such pretties. Prettiest of pretty Mentia need pretties. Pleaseeeeeeeeee. In short, give me.
Now that S'rring had arrived at the doors to the library he caught sight of Dmitri. Oh hello there gorgeous! Without even thinking about it he went towards the other man - in his eyes a gold - and flashed a perfectly charming smile. Then his attention was drawn from Dmitri/Dementia and over on Iskierka. Atlas was right, she didn't really need that did she? He could certainly help her out of it. Hands moved without his permission and ran over the older woman's figure, working at tugging her breastband free, "He needs it." Was all he said. Really, did he need to say more? Never mind that she was armed and probably dangerous. Atlas was running the show for S'rring now, and common sense just didn't play into things as far as the bronze was concerned.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Perses hadn't meant to be so fashionably late. Not at all. However he wasn't about to leave His in her room and had to wait for the slower moving human to catch up with him as he made his way towards the main activity. He'd managed to catch up somewhere in the hallway just before the library and as soon as he caught sight of the gold's form all thoughts of His were gone. Dementia was all that mattered at the moment. Her hide was simply glowing. Sorry sooooooooorry lovely butiful Men-men! He called out to the golden salamandyr, apparently he had a nick-name for the gold even though they'd never before met.
While others would chase because Dementia was a gold, Perses chased because she was a female. Any female was fair game in the young blue's mind, he was a confident little guy. They no good for Men-men. He continued speaking to the gold despite the fact he was late and in the back of the pack - though soon he planned to fix that. Out of all the salamandyrs there, surely the gold would recognize he was the best looking - and he kind of was. Thin but not overly so - definitely not a rolly polly pudge bucket like his clutchsibling Atlas - his tail was the perfect length for his size. His limbs were the perfect length. His wings were perfect. His head wasn't too small or too big. He was handsome, no doubt about that. So shouldn't she pick him so she could have gorgeous little babies? True he was small for a blue - really he was just a smidge larger than the green salamandyr giving chase - but that was forgivable right?
Speaking of the green, as he headed under the door to follow Dementia and the group he gave Titania a second look over and a little mental nudge with a soft croon, Butiful too. Sure he was here for Dementia, but Titania was a female too so why not? It'd be an interesting run for sure, the blue keeping his eyes on both the gold and green to see which one he might have a shot with. Little player.
Ivy had been sleeping soundly on her bunk when Perses' mood swing woke her. It wasn't so bad at first - while she had never experienced a salamandyr run before she did have Eros and he had given chase before. So the feeling wasn't completely foreign to her - nor unwelcome. Stretching she grinned as she slipped from her bunk and grabbed a shirt. Tugging it on as she walked she did her best to slip out of the barracks unnoticed, she already had extra chores since she had impressed a salamandyr... she didn't need more for breaking curfew. Even if she technically wasn't breaking curfew yet she knew somewhere in her mind that this would keep her out far later than that.
So she made her way towards the library just behind Perses most the way. Then he took off and left her in the hallway, a surge of lust hitting her smack in the face as he caught sight of Dementia. Barefoot in naught but simple white panties and a form hugging top she made her way quickly down the hall and turned right into the... chaos. A whip? Knives? Men? Sounded like a fun night to her! As Perses slipped under the door she batted her eyes at Dmitri and then A'emi - her blue had choices and so did she! The closer Perses got to the gold and green he was chasing in the next room the closer Ivy slipped towards the men. Seeing them less as handler and rider and more like their bondeds. "Beauty should win, aye?" She practically purred to Dementia - er, Dmitri. At least when she spoke it wasn't with that horrid grammar that her blue seemed to have, even if he was definitely the inspiration for ever word uttered from here on out.
Lovely, good little minions. Her harperlove had almost won her favor back by opening that door, even if one of the flits had gotten his chubby arse stuck in it. Ridiculous thing. Now that they were all...almost all here. Another blue? Well, that was fine, she'd chosen a blue before, yet somehow she'd lost one of her bronzes. Tch. Like that was a surprise. They were worse about shinies than all their chromatic siblings combined. Because of that, though, she brushed the mind of the remaining bronze. Good little bronzey. He hadn't gotten distracted. She knew how difficult that was for his color.
That's when she noticed Nocturne's issues. For a moment orange infused her eyes. Nocturne. MateMine. Not well? She moved from where she'd stopped to survey her chasers, brushing up against him. Dementia really was fond of him, even if she didn't like him around except to mate and then guard their clutches. He was perfectly suited to her desire to not have to deal with an amorous mate 24/7. Go, MateMine. Next time. Sick mates make no good babies. Secure in the knowledge that he would obey her explicitly, she turned and flared wings and frill.
If want Dementia, prove best. With that she was up the nearest bookshelf, twisting and leaping into a glide buoyed on gigantic wings. Dementia herself was a pretty small gold, but her wings more than made up for it. Twisting neatly, she landed on a table and darted over the pages of a large tome, kicking them up in her wake so that one actually flipped and fell down on any mandyr too close behind her. From there she dropped off the table, caught the edge with her tail and circled down the central post, changing direction right at the bottom to zip back toward the bookcases. A poof of dust followed her path.
Kyrahth worries that Hers will be ingested if you do not come to his rescue, Inocenth commented from his spot on the ledge where he'd curled up as far from Kaaoloth as he could manage without half-hanging off it. F'ur twitched, lifting his head from where it was nestled against Sel'n's shoulder and squinting at the blue. Did she happen to mention just where this rescue should take place? The library.
Sighing, F'ur bit Sel'n hard enough to get the fatty to let him squirm free. "Hey. Lazy. Apparently I'm needed. Take the nuisance and don't let him...leave." He fished a writhing Terror from his curls and dropped him on Sel'n, trusting the brownrider to roust enough to snatch him. A loose pair of pants later, armed with his staff and a wry grin, the bluerider darted down the hall toward the library. Of course it had to be A'emi. Then he couldn't tell them to fuck off and just go back to sleep. Tch.
What. The. Fuck. How dare he lay hands on her? Dmitri flailed and hit the ground with an oomph, cracking the back of her skull hard enough to blur her vision for the better part of half a minute as feet shifted all around her. Blinking, she snarled, not sure why none of her males were decking the bastard who'd just assaulted her. Dmitri's eyes lit on the foot of the perpetrator and, completely disregarding the rest of the chaos going on around her, snatched at the ankle and tugged it toward her viciously, spilling the flit onto the ground.
In an instant she was on top of the no doubt startled flitter owner (Elysia) with a sizeable amount of the woman's hair in her hand as her other curled into claws and slashed at the Legatus rider's face. Only to be caught in an iron grip, Dmitri yanked up and off Elysia half-tossed toward Ivy. Dmitri/Dementia stumbled, catching herself on the woman. Or...salamandyr. Or whatever it was. Straightening, she brushed herself off with a haughty lift of her chin. No one had seen that. Spinning on the ball of her foot, she pointed accusingly at the small cluster of riders. Namely Elysia and F'ur. "They assaulted me," the wherhandler hissed. "What good are you males if you can't protect your Queen?"
To that, F'ur just laughed, leaving Elysia to find her own feet as he glanced at A'emi and winked. "Thanks for the invite?" Iskierka he ignored, too. No doubt she could handle a handsy weyrling. And if she couldn't...well, that was just sad. He grinned that crazy grin of his and shifted to set his staff in front of him, leaning on it. "What's the phrase for this? Bring it, bitches?"
