Service Before Self

Weyrleader R'anatar of bronze Wereth :: Weyrwoman Liosa of gold Doryith

History --
Current turn: 3013

Of the three weyrs remaining to Pern at the end of the Long Interval following the Ninth Pass, Fort Weyr remained the largest and most integrated with the holders. Perhaps this had much to do with its proximity to Fort Hold, arguably the center of Pern commerce and craftsmen. Fort Weyr had long since adopted the patriarchal mindset of the holdfolk of Pern, if only because conformity was one of the only ways they could possibly ensure their existence. There were few enough things dragons could be called on to perform. Transportation, deliveries, aerial shows and emergency response and relief teams were the most common jobs. Fort Weyr struggled with Benden Weyr to secure these duties in order to sustain itself, and developed a fierce sense of rivalry toward the other northern weyr because of this. Fort also created a strong sense of loyalty amongst its own riders, and what could only be described as paranoia toward outsiders. This paranoia was actually based on an instance in which a Benden transfer sabotaged…ah, but the event is now forgotten. Only the paranoia remains.

In the turn 2979, a young woman of seventeen Impressed a gold hatchling on the Sands of Fort. This event became one of the most significant to Fort Weyr, as Grenostith was the only gold daughter produced by the then aging senior gold, Kimensth. Grenostith was a gold after the queens of legend. Strong and regal, powerful to the point that a single kind word would have males falling into line behind her in worship, she became a symbol of the matriarchy long-abandoned. This gold had no need to command; she was well-loved from the beginning. Her rider, Kamerai, appeared to be precisely the opposite, a quiet, mousey creature who followed the whims of men without question. It came to pass that someone at Fort felt that Grenostith and Kamerai would be better choices for the senior goldpair…or perhaps they simply didn’t want two golds, and it made more sense to keep the youngest. For whatever reason, Weyrwoman Illia was found dead under suspicious circumstances, Kamerai elevated to the position right before Grenostith rose in her maiden Flight in 2981.

Over the next fifteen turns or so, Fort Weyr and Benden Weyr continued to struggle for control of the north, their battles purely political. A rather unfortunate incident involving an influential holder’s daughter and one of Fort’s bronzeriders gave Benden the upper hand toward the end of that time, but the true leader of Fort – the manipulative Weyrwoman who pretended at docility – had arrived at a solution. Unfortunately, before the meeting could take place, Fort’s only junior gold succumbed to a mysterious illness. Fort Weyr was thrown into an uproar. In these times, it was uncommon for a gold to clutch more than one queen, and many worried that this event would spell the end for Fort Weyr. Some riders, in desperation, stole the clutch on Benden sands rumored to contain a golden egg.

They were sorely mistaken.

Benden’s eggs hatched and Impressed to Fort candidates, the eggs cracking early due to the stress long before Fort Weyrleadership could return them. No gold hatched among them. That turn, 2996, marked the beginning of the Northern Dragon War that has lasted fifteen turns to date. Also during that turn, a secret affair between Kamerai and a young Fort wingleader sparked up. D’loro was a man above politics, a bronzerider who remained in a place of power no matter who the new Weyrleader became. He might have been insignificant, but he was a brilliant man, and, from the very beginning, Fort won the victory in any battle in which Fort wingriders had D’loro at their head.

It was under Kamerai that the now notorious interrogation methods were first developed, and under her that the Dragonless Slave Trade first came into being. These former riders were already broken, demoralized. Why not use them for labor? It became common practice at Fort to gather all blueriders and greenriders – and any of the higher colors who would not serve in Fort wings – taken prisoner in the wars and execute their mindmates while they stood on helplessly. Benden, too, began using the dragonless as slaves, but without Fort’s superior techniques, their slaves paled in comparison. The tribute gained by the illegal sale of these slaves gave Fort a distinct advantage in the wars.

D’loro’s Jrenth caught Grenostith in 2998. What followed was devastating for their Benden adversaries. For four turns, Fort dominated the skies, reducing Benden Weyr’s controlled territory to the immediate area beyond the Weyr itself. It seemed that the war was nearly over – and none too soon, in the opinion of many. But this changed when, in 3001, a rogue bronzerider defected to Benden, bringing with him enough inside information to save Benden from distinction – and prolong the war indefinitely. S’rei’s defection would not have been enough, though, had not Grenostith risen not long thereafter. It was not Jrenth who caught her this time, however. Yeahrwith won the Weyrleadership. Mian’he was competent enough, but he certainly was not the equal of D’loro in pure tactical genius, and the upset of a change in leadership in the middle of the war dealt Fort a staggering blow. One fortunate thing did come of it, however; Gold Tollith was hatched that turn, Impressing to Elaira.

The next four turns proved to be some of the hardest for Fort Weyr. Already a deeply internalized and strictly militaristic Weyr under D’loro, they became still more closed to outsiders than ever before. Transfers were almost unheard of, and only allowed from Selenitas. No Selenitas bronzerider or brownrider would ever be considered. The one notable exception to this was R’anatar of bronze Wereth, accepted for reasons known only to Kamerai. Fort preferred its candidates to be weyrbred, although it would occasionally go on searches of those Holds proven to be loyal when it needed to pad the candidate ranks for a Hatching – usually only taking holdbred females. Although strict, violence between Fort riders was forbidden, on pain of death. They had enough enemies outside the Weyr without having to worry about such foolishness from within.

3006 marked another major turning point. Threadfall caught all the Weyrs by surprise, and sparked a short hiatus in the fighting. In that turn, Jrenth again caught Grenostith, and Fort Weyr began to gain strength almost immediately. It grew more cohesive, the training more intensive, and many of the riders were relieved…particularly when D’loro’s swift reaction to the reappearance of Thread left them the least devastated of the three Weyrs left on Pern. Fort Weyr reemerged as a dominant force in the war almost immediately, and began sending spies to both Benden and Selenitas. Ka’rys of Bronze Ciceroth, Kamerai’s little-known brother, was one of these, and he reported to the Fort Weyrleaders the Impression of Shmee to Aslath – an unprecedented break in the line of Selenitas.

By the time Grenostith rose again in 3008, Fort Weyr and Benden Weyr were at a near stalemate. For the first time since Grenostith’s hatching, the same bronze caught her twice in a row. Jrenth’s success also resulted in another gold egg, this queen Impressing to young Liosa. Doryith cemented Fort Weyr’s future, as the Weyr’s major disadvantage at this point was the undeniable truth that Benden had more golds and larger clutches. Even the elevation of Selenitas’s Shmee to the position of senior Weyrwoman seemed quite fortuitous. With Sera and her ‘noble line’ out of the picture, an alliance with the southern Weyr became a viable option.

This option then all but disappeared when Fort’s betrayer, S’rei of bronze Salenth, then proceeded to win Aslath’s flight despite Morsrath’s involvement. Fort Weyr chose to wait it out, allowing Benden Weyr to expend resources trying to subjugate Selenitas Weyr while Fort remained solely concerned with the north. Ka’rys’s job became all the more important, as he was the one the Fort Weyrleaders had to depend on to keep Selenitas from falling into Benden hands completely if things got out of hand.

Such concerns became unimportant in the face of the single greatest tragedy of Fort’s long history. Grenostith rose again. Jrenth won again. But, on that day in 3010, an unknown traitor admitted C’leon into Fort right before the conclusion of the Flight. Many thought Morsrath emerged from the air to chase, but this was merely a misconception. Morsrath had only one purpose – to slay Jrenth and Grenostith if C’leon was, by some strange chance, unable to reach their human counterparts. Jrenth and Grenostith were too preoccupied to notice his presence, as were the riders when C’leon descended upon them while the other chasers were too overcome with lust to fully understand what was going on.

Thus, the deaths of Kamerai and D’loro, and the end of a chapter in Fort history.

C’leon did not succeed in taking over Fort, which rallied around their dead leaders and repulsed the Benden attack wings that swooped in soon after. Weyrsecond R’anatar stepped into the role of Weyrleader, and the new senior goldrider Elaira fled with her lover, Z’mast, to the abandoned Weyr of High Reaches, too cowardly to face the war after the slaying of the former Weyrleaders. This left Liosa, still a weyrling, as the senior goldrider, and R’anatar’s supremacy was assured.

Fort Weyr itself, however, remained too shaken up to play much of a role in any but its own affairs. While Benden busied itself with the assassination of Z’mast and Elaira and the attempted execution of Selenitas’s Weyrwomen, R’anatar began systematically removing those most loyal to D’loro and Kamerai from the ranks of Fort. Bronzeriders with a particularly good Flight record mysteriously began to meet their deaths – after turns of surviving the wars – during infrequent skirmishes with Benden. One notable exception was J’lorin. He and Illumiath more or less vanished from the stage at Fort. Rumor had it that the bronzerider had some affection for Kamerai since his brief stint as Weyrleader over a decade before, and that he’d fallen into a black despair at her death.

3011 was ushered in with Doryith’s maiden Flight. Wereth pursued and won her, injuring no small number of other chasers in the process and thereby making R’anatar’s position as head of Fort official. The strict militaristic weyr fell under his thumb with little protest, though some whispered of the odd circumstances that put Wereth in a position of supremacy in that Flight – and of all D’loro’s supporters who had perished over the last turn. Those few loyalists remaining began a quiet exodus from Fort as R’anatar’s fist tightened. He didn’t have the power of C’leon just yet, but those who opposed him tended to meet an unfortunate end somewhere out of sight.

Seeing that Doryith and Liosa were overwhelmed by the strength and experience of their male counterparts, J’lorin was finally galvanized into action, enraged by the change coming over Fort under their new Weyrleader. At this rate, Fort would be no better than Benden! He began working behind the scenes. Overcoming his great hatred for all things Benden, he contacted Baith through Illumiath, and thus began the alliance that would change the whole face of the war.

Illumiath and a small cell of what few loyalists remained split off from Fort and came to occupy Benden while the other northern weyr conducted the momentous siege against Selenitas. R’anatar was not at all pleased to learn of this new development, but it serves his purposes well enough for now. While Benden struggles to pull itself back together under a man they’ve been trained to hate, he has time to remake Fort into exactly what he wants it to be. After all, C’leon had the right idea; men were made to lead, and if you can ensure that your dragon catches the queen every time she rises, why not?

Besides, he has a new plan for the other Weyrs of Pern in the works, and it just needs a few finishing touches…

Fort Weyrleader
Name: R'anatar (formerly Rillyanatarien)
Age: 31
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Rank: Weyrleader - Bronzerider

Physical Appearance: Sometimes the genes come together just right. This seems to be true in the bronzerider's case. Standing at a notably average 5'10" compared to some of the other giants at the Weyrs, R'anatar is neither bulky nor wiry. His shoulders, however, are fairly broad, his waist narrow, and if the silhouette wasn't enough, the slight swagger screams masculinity. By no means pretty, he has a hawkish nose set between two light blue eyes that - while capable of ice - are usually touched by soft humor.

Sandy blonde hair is kept short, but not as short as most Fort men tend to wear it, allowing for it to maintain some of its natural curl. The blonde hair and soft blues combine with deeply bronzed skin to make it obvious that, yes, the man is of Southern stock. He also tends to be a bit more flamboyant in dress than the men around him, often wearing clothing with gold or silver piping, and colorful. At first glance some might even think dandy. His dress is emmaculate, expensive, and even if there's something of an unkempt ruggedness about him, it can only be assumed that it's intentional.

One silver ring adorns his left ear which...if anyone was to look closely enough, or remember the battle some turns back...had to be restitched to his head after nearly being severed clear off. That and the single band of jade that looks suspiciously like a joining ring remains his only jewelry.

Personality:There's no other way to say it. R'anatar exudes charisma. That good ol' boy mentality? He's perfected it. The man's capable of sweet-talking a woman out of her newborn, a man out of the clothes on his back, and a dragon away from being oiled. You can know perfectly well what he's about and what he's done, but if you let yourself get close enough to have a conversation with him, you almost inevitably forget what it was you were so pissed about a second ago. The gift of a gilded tongue and animal magnetism.

Nor does he wield this weapon clumsily. No one - absolutely no one - succeeds at Fort Weyr without being exceptionally intelligent. Fort didn't fall apart after the death of the Weyrleaders mostly due to his ability to instill loyalty in even the most skeptical. It helps that he's an ousider without truly being an outsider. One of the more successful wingleaders at Fort before becoming Weyrsecond, R'anatar seemed above politicking, the Southerner that the north managed to 'corrupt.' He proved himself more than competent.

Unfortunately for those around him, R'anatar is ambitious. At first it was earning himself a wing, then he aimed for Weyrsecond, then Weyrleader. Now that he has this, he's not at all interested in giving up any power to Benden. The war can only end with Fort or Benden at the head, and he doesn't intend to lose. He's only lost once, after all, and that because the girl wasn't worthy of a gold. Sly and cold behind the ready smile and easy humor, R'anatar will subjugate the north, or die in the attempt. And thus far...it doesn't look like he'll be dying any time soon.

History:Rillyanatarien's (called Rilly by his father, much to his chagrine) birth and childhood was inauspicious enough. Natalia was one of the few female blueriders at Selenitas, but aside from that she was really nothing special. No relation to the powerful bloodlines of the south. No ancestors amongst the ranks of dragonriders, and certainly no relation to any of the metallic riders. The bluepair was competent enough not to get themselves killed when hunting felines...and that was about it.

If anything, Raylarien was less impressive. The man was a weaver who had only risen to the rank of Sr. Apprentice before leaving off his training to leech off Natalia. She tolerated him because he was convenient (she wanted to keep her son rather than foster him, and Raylarien made a decent-enough nanny). 'Rilly' himself was distinctly more outgoing than either of his parents, and tended to attract friends rather easily. But the south was still very much concerned with parentage and other things people had little to no control over. That and his nickname kept him in the middle rungs of society, spurned by those who, by accident of birth, were 'better' than him.

Still, he had quite a following of others in similar straights, and little battles between the 'old' lines and the roguish group of weyrbrats Rilly indirectly led kept the Weyr entertained for a good number of turns. From an early age, the boy was determined that he'd Impress. And not just to any dragon, either. It would be a bronze, the best bronze. The future lead bronze of Selenitas.

Not once did he doubt this, even after seven turns of Standing with no success. No, Rilly's bronze didn't hatch until the boy Stood (quite possibly for the last time, seeing as how infrequently there were clutches these days) at age nineteen. Wereth claimed R'anatar. Nearly overnight, upper society at the Weyr opened to him, even if the boys he'd grown up with weren't all that pleased to see 'Rilly' suddenly the interest of the girls that had always been theirs.

R'anatar began staking his claim immediately. He wasn't unattractive, and he was novel. The new bronzerider. As soon as Wereth was old enough, the young man began marking his territory in conquests, which his bronze encouraged. The most notable was Seresta, who positively adored R'anatar, even if she found his behavior rather disgusting. (Apparently it was impossible for her to be mad at him when they were in close proximity, much to her misfortune.)

Everyone knew. Some still fought it, but they all knew. Seresta was completely enthralled with R'anatar's roguish charm, and the girl would Impress gold, just as all her ancestors had. The young man was treated as the prince of the Weyr, Wereth the upcoming King. Already, the man in his early twenties had plans...plans to put the north under Selenitas's thumb. Fort and Benden had alienated them through the fighting. He would turn the hunters of Selenitas into a fighting force, then steal the resources and support of the north out from under the noses of the brawling Weyrs.

Selenitas might have become something quite different under R'anatar and Wereth.

Unfortunately, that plan was dependent on Seresta, and she proved to be an utter disappointment. The same turn that thread returned, the Selenitas line finally broke. Shmee. Some people thought the resultant transfer had to do with Seresta's death - that R'anatar really had some attachment to her. Others stated that the bronzerider's magic simply didn't have any effect on Shmee. In truth...he didn't even try. The girl was repulsive to him, a power-snatching harpy who he could barely stand to be around, even to use her. And he had a more - interesting - offer in the form of one of Fort's operatives.

Undoubtedly Kamerai meant to use him. After all, he was the 'deposed prince' of Selenitas, a man bitter enough to be easily manipulated. When Wereth and R'anatar arrived at Fort on her invitation, they were greeted with open animosity and distrust. Pretty Southern dandy with no combat experience, and a bronze not so far from weyrlinghood as to be paid much mind. (Fort riders tended to live far longer than those of Benden, and bronzeriders weren't so rare there as the other Northern Weyr.)For whatever reason, though, they took to the wars surprisingly well, and the blue and greenriders began to openly adore the pair that didn't mind 'dirtying' themselves by associating with them.

It didn't take long. By 3007 - just a turn later - R'anatar and Wereth were leading a wing after proving themselves vicious in the wars. The wing worked with such cohesion (and Kamerai wanted to placate her southern 'pet' enough to bring him to D'loro's attention) that by the time Sera died and Shmee officially came to lead Selenitas, Wereth flew at the head of Beta wing, the pair Weyrsecond to D'loro and Kamerai. Fort was surprisingly fine with this arrangement. After all, the young bronzerider wasn't involved in the power plays that had gone on for generations at Fort, which meant that, since D'loro was also neutral, no faction had superiority in the leadership.

But second best was hardly good enough for R'anatar and Wereth. They were patient...for two turns. Kamerai never should have trusted them so much. They knew she was the real power behind Fort, and her influence got them close to D'loro and Jrenth as well. R'anatar's power base built steadily, the man playing the ambitious off one another and building on the admiration of the other riders. He was far more approachable and likabel than the antisocial D'loro, after all. Many believed the deaths of D'loro and Kamerai to be an attack from Benden. They played it well, even staging the resulting invasion. Fort turned to the Weyrsecond who had repulsed Benden in the wake of the deaths. Elaira's cowardly escape was something of a drawback but...it actually removed any suspicion that might have resulted, and gave R'anatar further time to prepare.

He was always around, approachable when Liosa had questions. She was inexperienced and all too willing to allow the man to see to the Weyr. No match for the man's charm, the girl fell under his thrall and remains so even now. When Doryith Rose in her maiden Flight one turn later, R'anatar's dominance over Fort Weyr became official.

Right now he continues to solidify his base of support. Some of the old powers of Fort have to go...and J'lorin's deception made him angry enough to strike Liosa in a fit of rage when he learned of it, though she's forgiven him for it since then...but mostly Fort has changed little since the shift in power. After all, R'anatar and Wereth may be Southern, but they've been a Fortian dragonpair for seven turns, and Fort wingleaders all tend to follow the same theme.

Fort's King
Name:Wereth
Color:Bronze
Age:13 turns
Physical Appearance:He's a handsome beast if ever there was one, clearly southern in breeding, from the darker coloring to the more muscular build that isn't quite muscular enough to indicate Benden. Healthy, in his prime, and sizable enough to give other bronzes some pause, even if he's certainly not as large as some bronzes - most Fort bronzes, in fact - the appeal that his rider exudes is also present in him. He carries himself with confident ease.

Wereth sports few scars, particularly for a leader of one of Fort's fighting wings, and it's definitely not because he hasn't seen his share of battles. Admittedly, he is younger than the majority of Fort wingleaders, though. Still, lighter streaks of near gold sometimes can give off the impression of scarring, as they trace his hide liberaly in seemingly random patterns.

Personality:Just as ambitious as his rider, Wereth is a naturally patient sort. He treats other dragons with respect. This isn't so much truly how he sees them as a manipulation tactic, because it's far easier to get things done when other dragons want to please him, and all too many are flattered by a polite bronze. It doesn't mean that he wouldn't hesitate to tear out the throat of a creature persistently getting in his way, and his true colors tend to show in the terrible battles that rage across the northern skies.

Flirtatious, he knows just how to flatter a gold, and accepts the golds as his superiors out of necessity. If you can't control someone directly, you just find a way to do it indirectly. Doryith dances to his tune. Whether he actually is fond of her or not is up for debate, but one thing is true enough; he doesn't take kindly to any bronze trying to move in on his territory.

Flower of Fort
Name: Liosa
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Rank: Weyrwoman

Physical Appearance:Young as she is, Liosa looks even younger, perhaps fourteen or fifteen. The girl has a childlike face, heartshaped and undeniably pretty in the girlish way most young women have about them. Her complexion is excellent, if somewhat pale. Everything about her suggests a certain delicacy, from the small, slender frame to the wide baby blues.

Blond, her hair is straight and long, well-maintained. She pierced her nose in a random act of rebellion after receiving a lecture from R'anatar on how Weyrwomen were supposed to behave, but that's perhaps the only thing that doesn't scream youth and innocence.

Personality:Liosa is, without a doubt, the flower of Fort. Quiet, demure, young...and spirited enough to draw a smile from even the most hardened warriors. She's a little indulged, it's true, but not so much to be spoiled and unruly. The girl is smart enough to have a decent conversation with, not so self-absorbed or vacuous as to be generally irritating, but definitely not of a high enough intelligence to actually threaten any of the northern men around her.

In short, she's pretty much ideal as a jewel to adorn Fort's cap.
The young woman doesn't particularly approve of bloodshed, but she finds the warriors gallant. (Likely because she's never actually seen them fight firsthand.) Her attraction and, yes, even love for R'anatar is true and deep enough. Even realizing that he's using her - something she is aware of - the girl can't help but want to please him most of the time. He's nice to her, after all, always willing to listen and chat amiably. She expresses her affection for him openly, and he accepts it without embarrassment or irritation, as many might.

Prone to occasional little hissies, they disappear quickly and she's easily cajoled. All Liosa wants is a little attention and caring, and she responds well to anyone willing to give it to her. This is the easiest way to rein in her strong will. Of course, if she ever did decide to work against someone, her charm could be used to good effect. She may not be the smartest at Fort, but she's definitely crafty enough to give people a headache if she turns her hand against them.

History:Fortbred, Liosa was born to a drudge who volunteered to moth for one of the many greenflights. It was her father, V'san, who raised her, however, along with his lover, U'me. The two men adored the little girl, and were perhaps a little over-indulgent, but Liosa's naturally sweet personality kept her from becoming too spoiled. As she grew older, she wanted to join the ranks of dragonriders, to Impress a green and fight. Romanticizing the concept of battle and glory, the girl looked forward to Standing and Impressing.

It was likely fortunate that she didn't Impress a green at that first hatching. The child was far too sensitive to weather war well, even if it was Fort and not their brutal enemy that she'd be fighting for. It didn't take her long to start working in the infirmary, and many of the riders who ended up there loved to have the girl around, wide-eyed and listening raptly to all their war stories, fawning over them. She was only thirteen when she first met R'anatar, his ear nearly fully separated from his head. The man intrigued her, and he was the Weyrsecond! The second best warrior in all of Fort!

When mention of him in passing to her two fathers brought only praise from the mens' lips, her hero-worship of R'anatar was more or less ensured. Doryith cracked shell, Impressing to the fourteen-turn-old at the beginning of the next turn. Even though she wanted to fight, she adored her gold hatchling, lavishing the dragon with all her love as the two basked in the attentions of those around them.

Before they left weyrlinghood, however, a most unfortunate tragedy took place, the evil C'leon coming and killing D'loro and Kamerai! Liosa could only be thankful that Elaira was weyrwoman...until she disappeared, too. The girl had absolutely no idea how to lead a Weyr - and she only a weyrling! Naturally, she turned to R'anatar, who seemed only too willing to help. He was never cross or impatient with her, and his advice proved to be quite sound. When he asked if she'd like him to remove some of the burden of her duties, she was only too willing to allow it.

Liosa's growing crush on R'anatar only became stronger with the passing turns. When she asked him if he would...initiate...her and he turned her down politely, she could only take it as respect. (Not that he could do much wrong in her eyes, anyway.) It shouldn't have been surprising that Doryith chose Wereth. The young gold was almost as blinded by Wereth's success as Liosa was R'anatar's. Notably, however, the man still kept himself apart from her after that first Flight, and the girl was beginning to grow annoyed. He liked her, didn't he? He certainly acted like he did! So why didn't he want to be with her?

After a rather unfortunate incident when the girl got it into her head to travel outside the Weyr and nearly got herself abducted by a couple of Benden riders, she knew R'anatar's anger for the first time. He chastised her harshly...to which she responded to his lecture on how Weyrwomen should behave by going out and getting her nose pierced. Flaunting this bit of rebellion in front of him, he laughed openly at her, in front of everyone, and the girl simply reacted. She slapped the man in a fit of picque.

His reaction was instantaneous...though at least he whisked her into a private setting first. The spat between the two somehow translated into a rather violent session of lovemaking. A turn later, they still live together, and Liosa is convinced that he loves her, even if he never says it. Even if he did beat her hard enough that she had to stay in their weyr for a sevenday to avoid rumors circulating when J'lorin went missing with his entire wing. He apologized quite nicely, after all. Yes.

Fort's Crowning Gem
Name:Doryith
Color:Gold
Age:4 turns

Physical Appearance:Doryith is easily the smallest gold that Fort has seen since Grenostith was hatched. Some of Fort's bronzes are larger. This is undoubtedly a result of being sired by Jrenth, who some might have been mistaken for a brown because of his size.

The rest of her appearance, however, is very definitely indicative of Fort. Her coloring is pale enough to be pure white, the glimmer of the celestial bodies shining on the fine gold threads that curl and twine all over her hide making her glimmer with that familar seductive, metallic sheen. Yes, she's most definitely gold, even if the how can be hard for others to describe. Further, her body is long and lightly-muscled, as opposed to her more athletic brethren. Her delicacy compliments her rider's perfectly.

Personality:Doryith is very much self-possessed. She's not openly cruel or anything - she views the Fort dragons as Hers and she wouldn't want anything bad to happen to them - but they're all clearly inferior. A dragon's worth is measured by the worth she gives them. Namely, the more she favors them, the more important they are. This should go without saying.

It annoys her when she's not being paid her due attention, but to acknowledge that annoyance would be beneath her. She treats such creatures with a distant politeness, while openly fawning over the ones who are acting as they should toward their queen. Wereth, of course, receives special attention from her, though she's quick to drape herself over other bronzes if he fails to admire her as much as she feels he should.
